Reviews for Miramar L'orchidée
Review 1:Additional charges per night were added for all internet bookings. Not notified of this before check-in.
Review 2:Great location, sea view; clean, bright rooms; nice restaurant attached.
Review 3:Booked twin beds that were very short and narrow, and extremely hard. The pillows were also hard. The bathroom had no place to put cosmetic bag or any other products. Ate one dinner there, couldn't finish it as it did not taste good (fish dish), the salad was tiny, not a good value for 17 euros.
Review 4:Location, available free parking and wifi. The breakfast was ok. The male proprietor was very helpful, (the female not so much).
Review 5:Bathroom looks a little tired, could you with a refresh, but perfectly clean and functional.
Review 6:Location good, facing the sea. Lots of restaurants nearby. Comfy bed. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 7:Room was very dated, bathroom shower attached to taps so had to hold shower head. Stained carpets. Way over priced for standard of room..however, location made up for it.
Review 8:Great location, friendly staff.
Review 9:The bathroom was shabby, with loose tiles, cracked toilet seat, broken shower nozzle bracket, tatty shower curtain and water tended to go everywhere. TheAC was noisy and wouldn't adjust to the thermostat. The price was ridiculous and the staff harried and unhelpful.
Review 10:Location near the beach and car parking.
Review 11:The bathroom was clean, but basic and old - The whole hotel could do with an overhaul. It was also quite cold (November) and no heating available, and even the bedroom had floor tiles.
Review 12:Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 13:Not clean enough, very old bathroom and broken WC, spots on the towels from previous usage...for 80 euros per night and a parking view room we didn't expect too much, but at least the minimum of comfort and cleanliness. No air conditioning in the room (of course)...So if you choose this hotel, at least take a sea view room. Otherwise, it was just bad experience. Fortunately we stayed there only one night.
Review 14:Location impeccable, service very good when someone was at the reception (very often the personnel was just not there...).
Review 15:The village is charming, but small. Bus is ok, but not all trains stop at the station so I reccomend to bring your own car. The sea, even in mid July, was cold, only 17 deg C. Thea said it was due to the Mistral.
Review 16:Nice friendly staff. Clean, spacy rooms, comfortable beds and lagre bathroom. Breakfast buffet included fresch fruits.
Review 17:extremely dirty smell of pesticides in the whole hotel no air condition although advertised no minibar although advertised threatened when complaining
Review 18:good view from bedroom
Review 19:Good location and the most important free parking.
Review 20:Great people they are very helpful and warm. They made our stay very special. Not your typical big hotel. Highly recommended.
Review 21:Nothing
Review 22:View Parking Breakfast Room
Review 23:Location - right on the beach Good value for money
Review 24:slow restaurant service
Review 25:friendly atmosphere
Review 26:We only stayed one night.
Review 27:The location was very central, clean and well worth paying the small price extra for the sea view. We will return.
Review 28:Drinks prices a bit toppy
Review 29:Lovely location
Review 30:Very friendly staff, nice breakfast ,
Review 31:Rooms and bathrooms need renovation
Review 32:Private car parking is convenient. Good location
Review 33:Bed too hard and pillows dreadful. The whole hotel needed redecorating and a little attention to detail all around would improve it greatly. ie same tiles on floor leading from bedroom to bathroom & walls. Nicer furniture and hangers in wardrobe should be all the same and of good quality, not cheap metal ones. Attention to detail in all aspects would improve this hotel greatly.
Review 34:Location to beach, excellent and staff very welcoming and helpful.
Review 35:Come for the view and not for luxury. It's basic but I certainly can't complain for the price.
Review 36:Right across from the beach and not a far walk or bus ride from the port.
Review 37:no privacy in bathroom as neighbous could look straight into the toilet and no curtain was provided. Tried to check out the morning I was leaving and couldn't find any staff. Wandered into the kitchen to find some assistance and discovered kitchen was a mess with exposed food on all surfaces and general untidiness. Wifi was on a timer so it was very limiting.
Review 38:Nice sea front location
Review 39:Rooms are not very clean. The hotel is in the urgent need of investment in refurbishment. Breakfast is not worth the money.
Review 40:Good location right on the sea. Lots of space for parking.
Review 41:the rooms were dirty, walls filthy, could see beds had not been moved to clean. Carpets in the hotel were disgusting. Breakfast was unacceptable. No one to carry our luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. Had to push our bags down the stairs. The hotel on the inside was in total disrepair. Do not recommend the hotel for tourists.
Review 42:The outside of the hotel looked attractive and it was close to the beach. Evening meal was very good.
Review 43:The noise at night from the nightclub down the street, traffic, people in the street late at night and the sound of the water going to the bathrooms- it was so loud. Couldn't open the window because the curtains obstructed it and when you could get it open a little, you got the smoke from the wood fired pizza place next door! Don't know how people cope in summer. The receptionist was quite rude when I returned to the hotel at lunch time to find the front door locked. When she arrived to open it, she told me several times 'Ferme!' What hotel closes the door at lunchtime? There is no lift as we had to carry our bags up 2 flights of stairs. Not easy for seniors. We had a nice meal in the restaurant but was spoiled a dog at the table next to us being fed scraps from the table. As far as I'm concerned dogs do not belong in restaurant. Our room tariff was around $150 (AUD) and it was really a 1 star establishment. Loved the spot but hated the hotel.
Review 44:Loved being opposite the beach and close to cafés and bars. Like the waitress in the restaurant. Good parking.
Review 45:Staff attitude was un helpful rude and lacked any kinmd of interest. Unhelpfull in the extreme. The hotel carpet was filthjy and the cheff whjo fixed the light in the room clothing was also filthy.
Review 46:The hotel staff only showed no interest in us during our stay other than when it came to paying the bill. The hotel itself is run down and in urgent need of a major refurbishment. The bathroom sink in one of our rooms was falling off the wall. It would also benefit from a good clean. Very poor value for money. I strongly recommend you look at all other accommodation in La Ciotat before booking into this hotel.
Review 47:The location opposite the beach is excellent. Plenty of free parking at the hotel.
Review 48:Very dated, rooms not well furnished, lack of investment over many years and not very clean
Review 49:Location, directly looking over the sea. Despite the negatives we would stay here again, but only because of the position
Review 50:Metal stand in the shower for the showerhead to be attached to was not there, so you had to just hold the showerhead in your hand and wash that way. Not good! As we were only staying for one night and it was about 6p.m. on Saturday when we checked in, we didn't think anything would be done at that time so just put up with it. Secondly, the internet didn't work in our room as we were just out of range. Normally this wouldn't affect us but it just so happened we needed to make an urgent, private Skype call that evening and it caused massive problems. Thirdly, this was a family room for 4; however, there was only 1 very, very small wardrobe and no drawers whatsoever! Any family staying there on holiday would have to live out of their suitcases, which is not good.
Review 51:We were actually given a large family room which was excellent as it was extremely spacious.
Review 52:Not clean and very old + no control of the AC (it was freezing cold in the room during the night)
Review 53:The location, the free parking, the staff and the back garden
Review 54:Limited breakfast spread and choice unimaginative, especially as the overnight rates are hardly budget.. A sign of these harsh times, I guess. Beware that the meals on Saturday evenings take an unnecessarily large price-hike. The food served up, however, is very good indeed and nicely presented.
Review 55:Good size room with bathtub with shower in separate bathroom. A fridge in the room - fantastic. Good air-con. Huge free onsite parking, which is amazing compared to the other promenade based hotels. Nice family management team. Literally 20 metres from a beautiful sandy beach and shallow waters, safe for young children and non-swimmers.
Review 56:Initial greeting was cool at best. No smile, etc. Asked same lady later for a beach towel and was told to come back later. Every other person there was friendly and helpful. Never saw the dour lady again.
Review 57:Right across from beach. Lots of parking.
Review 58:We hoped for a relaxing time in a sea view room, It sounded so good but - The air conditioning was ineffective - just blew some coolish air. The blanket on the bed had a hole. The table lamp shade was damaged and one bedside lamp did not work. The bathroom had only a hand held shower and the 'boxing in' around pipes was damages. The towels were thin. The room had not been updated at all since vanity units in melamine were the 'in thing'. We booked 4 nights but stayed only one having explained that the room was far too basic and the location near the beach DJ was not for us. The staff were understanding and almost seemed to agree. The Hotel accommodation is below the standard of the lower priced hotel chains we had used on the way through France.
Review 59:The view of the sea was good and the parking was good as well. The hotel was quiet at night. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Good sized very basic room
Review 60:In the bathroom, there were problems with the water flow.
Review 61:The great location near the main beach of the La Ciotat town and private safe availability in room are the most attractive things in this hotel. Also I'm appreciate the owner's attention for all clients needs and their helpfulness. At La Ciotat city many hotels are located near the old port and this is a little bit far from the main beaches of town and not too much good if you want to have full relax near the seaside. But this hotel has wonderful location in front of the beach just 50m from it. I think if I decide visit again La Ciotat I would with pleasure stop at this hotel again.
Review 62:there was nothing that we didnt like
Review 63:we were very impresed with our stay the staff were very nice and helpfull .our room very clean and having a fridge was good also you couldnt fault the view it was fantastic and the location also the parking was good and no charge
Review 64:Fire extinguishers not in place. Air conditioning broken(broken control panel off wall!). Carpets very old. Lot of dirt around door handles. Shower very poor. Plastic cup full of cigarette ends on windowsill. Only one chair in room. No lounge to sit in.
Review 65:Plenty hot water. Good beachside location. New towels every day.
Review 66:The general cleanliness and that of the carpet The broken shower Dirty stairs Noise levels relative to location expecially at night
Review 67:The Value for Money The sea view The cleanliness of the bed The pizza place outside
Review 68:The location was perfect! There were three of us, wrapping up a two week vacation in Provence and the south coast of France. We needed a place closer to the airport in Marseille for the last two nights of our trip. We had a triple room that looked out to a view of the beautiful sea and beach. We were able to walk to all the places we wanted to see, numerous restaurants and spend a delightful afternoon swimming and sunning at the beach. It was nice to have the option of breakfast each morning also.
Review 69:The position of the hotel being directly on the sea front was wonderful. To leave the hotel and immediately be beside the blue sea was delightful. The hotel personnel were friendly and helpful.
Review 70:No elevator. Food in hotel resaurant was very expensiv, so we went elsewhere to eat.
Review 71:Room with balcony overlooking the sea and beach. Friendly staff. Guarded parking lot and we were allowed to leave our car there for half a day, even after we had checked out of our room. Great location, with beach acros the street and numerous restaurants, shops and bakeries close by.
Review 72:Clearly yet another terrible hotel in La Ciotat. My room had a gap between the main door and door frame, bathroom had no curtains so everyone can see in, especially at night and the curtains in the main bedroom were moth eaten. WiFi just didn't work at all, the breakfast atrocious and our party all commented on how unclean the hotel felt. After two days our group booked into the Best Western which was a mere 15 euros more per night and back in the real world of modern hotels.
Review 73:Not much
Review 74:Wifi can be improved, perhaps it was because we had a room on the topfloor and the signal was weak. Impossible to stream any tv. Not acomplaint as the hotel will welcome you on the ground floor where thesignal is strong.
Review 75:Very friendly staff , helpful, and excellent location facing theseafront. Bring bikes for the promenade. Good , secure car parking andhaving the frige was a lovely surprise.
Review 76:Some defectuous ornaments in the bathroom (shower head / WCpaperholder / Towelholder ) which could be avoided with a little attention.
Review 77:Staid 6 days Mar-Apr 2012. Spacious room with a splendid view on boulevard and sea. For a reasonable price. Restaurant is ok, no high class. Good housewine for a good price. WIFI performance beats *****hotels.
Review 78:The staff were very friendly and accommodating - the rooms were clean - needs a bit of maintenance however - a tile fell out of the wall with the shower attachment on!!!
Review 79:Location location
Review 80:An influx of local visitors on the weekend makes it crowded.
Review 81:Great location right on the sea. Rooms are large and comfortable. Staff very friendly.
Review 82:Food was excellent, had one of our best meals here during our 4 weeks in Europe
Review 83:worn soft furnishing no tea/coffe making facility
Review 84:location good sized room
Review 85:nice location
Review 86:Bathroom was dreadful. Shower head had to be held. Masking tape had been used around the base. Worst hotel I have ever stayed.
Review 87:Location
Review 88:A couple of pot holes at the entrance drive!
Review 89:Convenient and attractive location overlooking promenade.
Review 90:Really needs refurbishment...very tired
Review 91:No lift.
Review 92:Nice staff, most spoke english. View from room nice. Food and service was good. Good off street parking
Review 93:location
Review 94:In our room were a strong noise during the nicht.
Review 95:The hotel was nice and friendly. Everyone was very helpful. The location is excellent right on the sea front.
