Reviews for Hotel Richaud

Review 1:Noise between rooms. We experienced an unfotunatel night with a volatile couple next door.

Review 2:Room was small but comfortable. Staff were helpful and location is excellent.

Review 3:Wow. After reading some of the reviews on this hotel, I was a bit worried when booking our stay. What a surprise. Clean, safe accommodation with super friendly staff – they helped with our onwards travel arrangements and offered to store our luggage for free when we visited Versailles, even though we have already checked out. Location is within walking distance of Versailles and all the train stations. Comfortable, basic accommodation without frills.

Review 4:the carpets were completely stained, they should be ripped up the room was from another time generation with dust all over teh chairs, atop the headboard the blanket was 100 years old the room reaked of smoke i was literally scared the heat barely worked, so the cold air through the thin windows blew on me all night it was a horror experience. I rant out at sunrise

Review 5:The hotel is clean but definitely needs updating. For the price just outside the Paris area it was as expected.

Review 6:It was very nicely located walking distance to the palais de Versailles. Great market around the corner on Tuesdays.

Review 7:Room had a strong ex-smoker / mouldy smell. Room had a lack of facilities (i.e. no fridge) and was extremely small.

Review 8:Location was great for visiting Palace of Versailles

Review 9:Dreadful smell of "drains" in public areas. Decor & furnishings very dated, & starting to look well past their best

Review 10:Located in a side street, therefore fairly quiet, yet short walk to Versailles centre.

Review 11:Great location, close to the market, restaurants, the Chateau and train station to Paris. It has good Wifi signal(we were on the third floor) and a very convenient a parking place.

Review 12:There was a strong damp smell in reception. As the walls were paper thin you could hear everything from the rooms on either side.

Review 13:The location was good.

Review 14:The bed was a little firm but really we have no negative comments.

Review 15:The two concierges are a delight, especially Sami who we dealt with most. Most helpful for two Australian travellers, an excellent location for walking to Versailles and for a nice meal go to Aux Chien qui Fume around the corner. This is good value for money, the breakfast is very good too at only 9 euros.

Review 16:We were not very impressed with this hotel, and it certainly wasn'tworth the money. When we arrived, the reception area and the lift smeltstrongly of foul drains. The hotel needs a complete overhaul aseverything is very cheaply finished and some of it in very poorcondition. The windowframe was pulling away from the wall, and wecouldn't open the window properly. The cleaning in the room left alot to be desired. The insides of the bath, toilet and basin were clean, but everything else in the bathroom was filthy. The bedsheets and towelswere at least clean, which was a blessing! There was only 1 usable plugsocket in the room, but it was fitted so close to the floor that wecouldn't use some of our appliances, which was very inconvenient. Ithink this hotel only stays in business because of it's location soclose to the palace of Versailles. We were travelling around Europe, andstayed in a variety of hotels, but even the much cheaper hotels inVienna and St Malo that we stayed in were significantly better than thisone. I would rather leave no review at all than a bad one, but feel sostrongly about this hotel and certainly wouldn't recommend anyone tostay there. We would never go back!

Review 17:The location was good, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 18:WiFi was slow. This was the only snag we could find with this hotel

Review 19:The staff here were the best we encountered anywhere in France. Recommended where to go and where not to go, and the best way to get there in perfect English. Excellent location 5 minutes walk from Invalides Museum and 10 minutes from Eifel Tower. Very comfortable hotel. Shops nearby.

Review 20:cereals were stale, breakfast table very small, no curtains/blinds in the bathroom, receptionist did not speak English, hotel was very dated. no air con in rooms. would not book this hotel again

Review 21:very clean, good location for where we needed to be for meetings

Review 22:The location was great for our family touring Versailles Palace and the surrounding town. Only a ten minute walk or so to the palace. The price was reasonable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'd recommend the Hotel Richaud to other families with young children.

Review 23:Room was in need of refurbishment

Review 24:Hotel was only minutes away from main square containing lots of restaurants, five minutes walk to rail station with direct line to Paris. Fifteen minutes walk to Palace of Versailles

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:We can only say that that the front of house staff where amazing and made our stay very welcoming. This hotel will be our first choice on our next trip rather than staying in Paris. In fact we went from here to the CDG Hilton to be very disappointed by the front of desk staff and their attitude to us as clients will never return there again.

Review 27:Breakfast choice and quantity a little limited.

Review 28:Very friendly reception. Clean basic room. Although little on-site parking, no trouble parking on street outside hotel, which is free of charge in August. Fantastic location.

Review 29:Very helpful staff and value for money. The free secure parking was a bonus and the breakfast was very well received by the children. Getting into Paris was very easy from here and we got great directions form the hotel staff.

Review 30:Great location .Walking distance from Palace , restaurants and railway stations. Parking available but limited. Breakfast table- served plus buffet.

Review 31:Horribly ugly and arrogant staff, the hotel is old, shabby, looking verycheap, no a/c, the location is not that good as expected andunbeliveable bad attitude to our dogs.

Review 32:Parking place.

Review 33:Not terribly welcoming when we arrived with a car (that we have previously told them about when we booked). The free parking was very tight, which was absolutely fine - I was more worried about the man at the desk saying he wasn't sure they could provide parking at all when we arrived.

Review 34:Good value & location. Some helpful staff.

Review 35:It was a typical French 2* hotel. The plus point was it was really clean, the parking was great to have in central Versailles as we spent 5 nights. The location was brilliant, good for reasonable restraunts, the Palace and a train in to Paris.

Review 36:Great location - very close to market square, where lots of restaurants are. Chateau can be reached in 15-20 min. by foot, university in 25 min. by foot. Arriving from Paris go to train station Rive Droite (much closer than Rive Gauche).

Review 37:My stay coincided with a heatwave (40c), and sleep was difficult as the rooms have no AC or fan. However, these were exceptional circumstances and the whole of the Paris region was suffering.

Review 38:The staff were most friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pleasant. The location is good for the Rive Droite station and town centre; plenty of reasonable places to eat around the nearby market square.

Review 39:not a thing, all was what was expected very good value for money

Review 40:very clean and good facilities 24 hours reception cover excellent welcome good breakfast very quite road so got good rest in the centre of town so next to restaurants, market and 10 minutes walk to Versailles

Review 41:Bathroom very tired. Bath plug hole filthy, no shower curtain so shower not possible, and the worst thing was the noisy macerator type toilet, more suited to a caravan. We used the toilet downstairs near the reception that was fine.

Review 42:Breakfast, Bed, Wifi

Review 43:Everything Staff was rude and tried to add breakfast onto the bill when we checked in was told car park was full and to take chances with on street parking 2 star hotel charging 3 star prices

Review 44:Nothing!

Review 45:If you're going to Versailles, make sure you're there on Saturday, Sunday or Tuesday - when the fountains are working and the garden rooms are open.

Review 46:The hotel is just a short walk from the Palace and the market square with its cafes and bars is even closer

Review 47:I was a bit put out by the fact that they appeared not to have reserved us a car space despite saying there was free parking, and me telling them we were travelling by car when I booked. But fortunately there was space (a very tight space) for us, so it all worked out fine in the end.

Review 48:It was well located with free parking, free wifi and clean comfortable room

Review 49:old and tired interior, hazardous step up to shower cubicle, rather dark corridor, pay on arrival

Review 50:Freshly made coffee, eggs you can boil to your taste, fresh croissants, comfortable bed, no traffic noise, shower works really well, efficient reception and very good standard of cleanliness, excellent free wifi, good range of international channels on tv

Review 51:The breakfast was quite poor. No restaurant facilities.

Review 52:The staff was friendly. The location was very close to the railway station, and close to the palace. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom has hairdryer and shampoo. There is television with French channels in the room.

Review 53:Room a little small No breakfast included in price

Review 54:Friendly and convenient for us, helpful staff. purchased breakfast quite good. Would stay there again.

Review 55:While wifi existed, neither my daughter nor I were able to get it to work. The clerk tried to help to no avail.

Review 56:A clean, comfortable stay within walking distance to everything. We would go back.

Review 57:The internet connection did not work in our room, but we used the one in the lobby.

Review 58:Really good conditions, especially for a two star hotel. Clean room, and many restaurants in the neighborhood, especially the crêperie. Chateaux is very close, 5 to 10 minute walk.

Review 59:Wifi was intermittent. There was a bad mold smell in the elevator, but being on the first floor, we just used the stairs. There was no problem with the smell elsewhere.

Review 60:Staff was always available and helpful. Breakfast was not free as indicated, but was excellent. Room was comfortable and very adequate. We had a street view from the 1st floor and were not bothered by street noise.

Review 61:Bad smell in the elevator. Contrary to the rather modern room, the bathroom is old fashioned, with floor broken in some places- but no problem with functioning of equipment or hot water. Boiled eggs for breakfast were almost raw.

Review 62:Very good location (close to Versailles Palace, very calm small street, silent at night (windows of our two triple rooms were to the inner courtyard with parking)), own free parking very much appreciated, pleasant newly refurbished rooms, good beds, additional pillows if needed, toiletries provided in the bathroom, elevator, good breakfast (not only croissants but also youghurts, cereals, cheese and boiled egs)

Review 63:Internet unusable in rooms. Ok in lobby but only one plug for laptop. Would have enjoyed an electric kettle & cup to have a hot drink in room or lobby.

Review 64:Room & bathroom were small but clean & functional. Linen good. Staff helpful. Enjoyed lobby in evening to read emails.

Review 65:Rooms are very basic with no tea/c making facilities.Quite small rooms. The wardrobe was not inviting us to use as it was grim inside, dated and old. As was the rest of the furniture around the Although all very clean the decoration and facilities are very dated. good for 1 or 2 nights only. Other guests were smoking in their rooms and the smell permeated along the corridor. Although I told the staff nothing was done about it I felt It was a fire risk! The reception smelled of bad eggs upon arrival. The hotel is in a good position and its a shame that it isn't updated.

Review 66:The staff were friendly and helpful. The shower was powerful with lots of hot water. The bed was comfortable and mattress new. Free parking in town. Very clean all round. Good for only one or 2 nights stay.

Review 67:Wifi could not be accessed from the room we stayed in which probably down to its location being too far from the source.

Review 68:Ideally situated for the Palace of Versailles, very helpful staff. Room clean and not overly compact - a lot bigger than some we have stayed in elsewhere. Particularly liked the availability of free parking - although spaces limited and could fill up quickly at busier times of year

Review 69:i've booked a room with bathtube, but there was no room with bathtube available when i arrived. one of the staff is rude to me because i came late to the hotel in the night.

Review 70:parking

Review 71:You have a treasure in Sammy the receptionist. He went out of his way to help us. The breakfast was the best we had in this trip and we went to nine hotels before you.

Review 72:No sound isolation between rooms, so stay depends on quietness of your neighbors (that sometimes think they are alone, unless you're noisy) Room is not cozy,

Review 73:very close to main city attractions Easy to find and get to from any train stations that go to Versailles Clean room

Review 74:Small room Very small shower Hard bed No tea or coffee making in room

Review 75:Clean, comfortable Staff very helpful Close to train station Free parking Close to shops and restaurants

Review 76:No coffee making facilities in the room. The bathroom was in very poor condition. The room was poorly maintained generally. The reception smelt of sewer water. We were not sure this was such value for money. It deserved its 2 star rating. If you are not to worried about standards then you cannot go far wrong.

Review 77:The location is excellent cannot fault it. The village is very well serviced with lots to look at. The breakfast is ample and varied. 24 hr service - although we did not use it. Very pleasent staff on the whole.

Review 78:Reception very poor and disappointing - we always inform hotels we are travelling with our golden retriever in advance. We already stayed here before in September and there was no problem. This time receptionist told me they only take dogs under 5kg! What did ours weigh? The website says 'free pets are allowed' I was made to feel very unwelcome on a very wet and cold night in November. Other: Decoration is very tired, towels grey, wifi very poor.

Review 79:Location

Review 80:Beware of narrow entry to car park and small spaces - we have a mondeo estate which is a large car!

Review 81:Excellent location with a free car park, the owner allowed us to leave our car after we had checked out so that we could visit the nearby excellent market. Superb information booklet in room giving local restaurants. Very friendly staff. Room small but very well laid out with nice bathroom and loads of hot water!

Review 82:The hotel was very reasonably priced. The staff were friendly andhelpful. The hotel was clean, very central and close to a lot of shopsand restaurants. A very enjoyable stay.

Review 83:rooms were very small and pretty old; Internet connection did not work at all (kept on dropping out every 5 minutes); the place is rather expensive for what it is - maybe the new part of the hotel is better, but we were in the old one

Review 84:location of the hotel as well as the overall friendliness of the staff

Review 85:Bed could have been slightly bigger, decor and facilities are basic

Review 86:The location and value for money. Also good cheap breakfast, and staff were very helpful.

Review 87:Breakfast too expensive

Review 88:Free Car Parking, quiet room with bath, 5 minute walk from Versaille Rive Driote Station then only a 35 minute train ride to central Paris.10 minute walk from Palace of Versailles, lots of bars/restaurants within 5 minute walk off hotel, friendly staff - great little hotel

Review 89:The room was too small. The internet didn’t work properly in the room. The bathroom needs to be renewed.

Review 90:Location, staff very kindly and close to the public transportation.

Review 91:Room was extremely small which is normal for Europe, bathroom needed some work. We did not pay extra for Breakfast so cannot comment

Review 92:Location and day staff very friendly

Review 93:Only negative was the breakfast - shame to have fruit cups instead of any fresh fruit available and this was the stalest croissant I was offered on our trip to France. However, the good points of the hotel far outweigh the bad and a trip to a local boulangerie soon put breakfast right!

Review 94:A 15 min walk to the entrance to Versailles; great price for this location; near to plenty of bars/restaurants/nightlife; clean rooms; free parking (limited, but we got a spot);

Review 95:Decor a bit tired and WiFi non-existent the further you are from reception area

Review 96:Perfectly placed for Palace of Versailles, restaurants and bars and rail stations for Paris.

Review 97:Room was really basic and bathroom very basic but both clean

Review 98:The location to the Palace was great and it also had parking. We walked to the Palace from the hotel and it was close to the square with lots of eating opportunities

Review 99:Nothing. Dirty bathroom. Many flies in the room. Poor sound proofing between rooms. Used my key and inadvertently went to wrong room.. And the key actually opened the wrong room number..... It was already occupied. It also opened my room too. Awful security.

Review 100:Nothing !

Review 101:Walkable distance to Versailles palace ,10-15 minutes.nice shops , bistros along the way... Able to tote our large luggage from Gare de Austerlitz. Very nice bedding and clean room, lobby , hallways, 24 hr desk help, spoke some English. Nice restaurants and markets within 5 minute walk

Review 102:Lack of private private, very few parking spots in hotel parking.Difficult to find parking on the one-way street. Would be nice to havecoffee facilities in the room.

Review 103:Great location, easy walking access to Versailles, close to everthing.Easy access to the Vinci public carpark, cost us just euros 14.50 forovernight. Our dog's stay was free!

Review 104:When booked, it was mentioned that parking is available! It is true, BUT only 8 places. We had no security and had to park overnight in a very narrow street; had to pay till 1900, and again from 0900. Please indicate - Limited Parking!

Review 105:Reasonable room, with public transport convenient

Review 106:No evening dining facility. No Tea-making facilities in room (although staff were helpful with milk and jug of tepid water). Sparse selection at breakfast

Review 107:Room rate, Comfortable room, decent bath. Managed to arrive early enough to have space in small car park

Review 108:Lovely hotel, with parking, we had a good size family room, there was 24 hour reception. Can't comment on breakfast as we had an early start. Hotel was well situated for the palace which is a ten minute walk and a twenty minute walk to metro. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 109:No complaint. Will stay again.

Review 110:Friendly, very helpful staff. Hotel very clean. Location easy to find and excellent for Versailles. Close proximity to train station and many local restaurant cafés.

Review 111:From my perspective. Bed was too hard! Maybe a little shabby at first glance from outside.... don't be put off!

Review 112:Car Parking Location:, right near stations for Central Paris and 10 minutes walk from the gates of Versailles Very Friendly Staff

Review 113:Very clean, comfy room, brilliant location and private parking. We stayed two nights and didn't have any problems at all. It is right in the heart of everything. 5 Minute walk from the Palace, food on the doorstep and friendly staff. Train took 15 minutes to Paris.

Review 114:Mould in shower, toilet seat dirty on arrival, cramped and no parking left inside. Lucky it was free on the street for the month of August. Rooms very thin walls and could smell all the smokers. I was not keen on the bathroom.

Review 115:Close to palace and restaurants and the handsome front of house the afternoon I arrived! He made it worthwhile.

Review 116:Nothing really not to like, apart from it would have been nice to have an extra pillow. Although to be fair, we didn't ask for any extra whilst there.

Review 117:The location was very good. Ten minutes walk to Versailles palace or to the train station which takes you into Paris (takes about half an hour). Breakfast was good - croissants, bread, jam, fruit, cereals, boiled eggs (cook them yourself in the machine provided), fruit juice. Tea or coffee is brought to your table (generous amounts). We had two rooms (mum, dad, 2 daughters) which were close together as requested. They were both clean and tidy and had enough towels in the bathroom.

Review 118:breakfast was not that exiting but ok.

Review 119:staff at the enterance 24 hours a day. Good possibility of parking. Close to subway for Paris and close to great market in the middle of Versailles :-) 3 minutes walk and you find many options for dining as well as a local food market

Review 120:Limited parking - we were lucky to get one of the nine places available by getting there at midday! Hotel is a bit tired and the rooms are small and sparse. No aircon but windows do open wide.

Review 121:The location is fabulous for the Palace and the famous market. Loads of great restaurants nearby. Room was clean.

Review 122:Smaller than we were used to in the South Pacific regions, but much better than other European hotels.

Review 123:Privacy, security, staff helpfulness and cheeriness,

Review 124:No a/c.

Review 125:It's easy walking distance to Versailles and there is a market with a bunch of restaurants along the way. The staff were absolutely fantastic, extremely accommodating, and really nice. My husband and I got in late and slept through breakfast (which we had paid for) so when we went to leave, the front desk attendant gave us several croissants and 2 bottles of water because he knew we hadn't eaten. Great place!

Review 126:Noisy street currently as building works opposite.

Review 127:Great location - 10 mins walk from Palace of Versailles - parking on site if you get there early - was able to leave car in car park after we checked out for a few hours. Breakfast area compact but good size breakfast. Can book ticket for Palace at reception - same price everywhere.

Review 128:- Breakfast not really worth the cost (plenty of options in town) - Very bouncy bed too soft and sagging

Review 129:- Great Location easy walk to centre - Free parking (but only very limited places, so be early!) - Clean (newly refurbished) rooms - Reasonable price for the offering

Review 130:A good location to visit Versailles Palace, only 5-7 minutes walking. kind reception clerk arranged us rest and check-in in advance when we arrive early. good breakfast. reasonable price.

Review 131:Tiny parking area. Bathroom in need of updating(cracked tile floor, sloppy calking job all over, 70's era) NO SHOWER CURTAIN. €3 for 30 min of wifi is pretty steep(we sat in the stairwell to get the free networks)

Review 132:10 min walk from the Palace. Awesome market very nearby. Restaurants, shops very near. Double sinks in our bathroom.

Review 133:For €78, I would have expected a bit more than the spartan dormitory basics of bed, wardrobe, desk and bathroom (some decoration, a better grade of soap, perhaps, or a bit more space)

Review 134:location and relative price for Versailles. It was quiet, no raucous guests or parties, so no problem sleeping.

Review 135:Would have liked to have had tea making facilities in the room. Cigar smoke drifting into the air conditioning, although the hotel had ample non-smoking signs. This problem was solved by the second night.

Review 136:Very helpful, friendly and efficient. Central, clean and quiet.

The Fine Print

Please note that only 9 private parking spaces are available on site and are subject to availability. The parking lot closes at 10 pm.Extra beds can only be accommodated in some of the rooms.
