Reviews for Ty Helyg Guest House

Review 1:Bit noisy (our room not double-glazed and next to road) when town was waking up.

Review 2:Very welcoming - helpful about what to do and where to eat. Very clean. Comfortable bed/room. Very nice breakfast. Would stay again.

Review 3:Home from home. Lovely welcome, standard of cleanliness was 10/10 and finish of finish and soft furnishings throughout was high . Room and bathroom were excellent. Breakfast was wonderful Local quality of ingredients. Beautiful presentation and lovely ambience. Fabulous!

Review 4:Only lacking in a car park

Review 5:A really lovely B&B. Very nicely decorated, pictures by local artists and clean and comfortable rooms. The owners could not do enough to make your stay as pleasant as possible - putting themselves out to make sure I had breakfast when I had to leave early. My friends enjoyed the honesty bar. Nice touches like fresh milk for the rooms.

Review 6:Every little detail had been thought about to make our stay enjoyable: milk available in flasks, the honesty bar, useful nightlight in room and a very warm welcome - Breakfast was great too!

Review 7:Owners were relaxed, friendly and helpful. Room comfortable. Particularly liked the availability of fresh milk, rather than long-life: and the honesty bar suggested a good feeling towards customers.

Review 8:Taking a bite out of the inviting dish of 'almonds' provided in the room - only to discover that they were dog treats!!! Yuk.

Review 9:John and Lee were very welcoming and friendly and welcomed our dog too, which is why we booked Ty Helyg. They were ever so helpful and have provided loads of local information and maps for visitors to use. The guest house was spotlessly clean and in a lovely central location, easy to find by the monkey puzzle tree. The breakfasts were delicious and we would certainly book there again if we were in the area. It's so nice to find somewhere that dogs are allowed and controlled with firm, sensible rules, preventing them from spoiling the holiday enjoyment for others. You don't have to have a dog to stay here, but you may just feel that you are missing out if you haven't got one!!!

Review 10:Room sound proofing could be better. Could clearly hear the people in the adjacent room.

Review 11:Central Brecon location, cleanliness, welcome, well balanced breakfast.

Review 12:No dedicated parking, no WiFi signal in some rooms (including ours)

Review 13:Friendly staff, good breakfast (inc scrambled eggs with smoked salmon), good selection of teas (camomile etc) modern furnishings, handy location on main street

Review 14:Friendly and helpful hosts who are knowledgeable and happy to advise on local walks and attractions. Excellent cooked breakfast. Good location near the centre of Brecon.

Review 15:The only negative comment I could possibly make is the feebleness of the shower-poor water flow.

Review 16:Very welcoming and helpful. Comfortable sitting area, all facilities, very near town and bus station

Review 17:We were on the top floor which wasn't a problem except when we had to carry bags up and down, luckily we just had a small suitcase, parts of the corridor were very narrow. Being in the middle of the town there was quite a lot of noise from people coming home from an evening out.

Review 18:Fresh milk was left in a flask on a shelf half way up the stairs, this was a nice touch rather than having to ask for a jug of fresh milk if we wanted a drink in our room. Lovely mix of yoghurt/fruit and Granola in glasses for breakfast.

Review 19:We hadn't realized the room will be on the top floor. It is not easy for a mature couple to carry all the luggage up so many stairs.

Review 20:The warm welcome, the desire to be helpful, the cleanliness and the lovely breakfast.

Review 21:Unfortunately it fronts straight onto the road. There is some noise although it didn't affect our ability to get a good night's sleep.

Review 22:Central location, well appointed, great staff.

Review 23:Breakfast only served from 07:30-08:30 in the morning which is far too early. Check out time is 10am Limited check in times with no flexibility for anything in the evening. If you travel a long way it not feasable. WiFi not working properly, could be easily sorted Limited parking at weekend, with most bays opposite full and some only allow 1-2 hours.

Review 24:Very nice and clean overall. Accommodating for an early check in.

Review 25:No complaints

Review 26:Excellent reception by Lee, beautiful room with comfortable bed. We were on the second floor (3rd for Americans) with windows on the street. Excellent shower. TV with a few channels. WiFi a bit iffy at times, but more than one option available, so we logged on to whichever worked best at the time. Great breakfast with vegetarian options, served 7:30-8:30, which we preferred to the later starts so common. An Honesty bar where guests can help themselves and fill out a charge sheet, which allowed my husband to try a Welsh single malt whiskey. Lee recommended a local pub for dinner, the Clarence Inn, and both the meat and vegetarian lasagna a were really delicious. Nice lounge for general use.

Review 27:Lovely characterful room with dressing room, freshly decorated and immaculately clean with nice touches like cookies in room Flexible check in policy when we couldn't make the usual times Lovely owner

Review 28:Nothing....

Review 29:Everything! Beautifully renovated old house - with a fresh, open feel, yet lots of interesting features. Fab owners - upbeat, fun, intelligently thoughtful, nothing too much trouble. Amazing breakfast. Super comfy bed, great sheets & towels, nice furniture. Easy parking. Near town, but quiet. And: IMMACULATE.

Review 30:Loved staying at ty helyg guesthouse. Comfortable, clean rooms. Fantastic owners, really chatty and welcoming. Wonderful breakfasts- fabulous coffee and I particularly enjoyed the salmon and scrambled eggs! My boyfriend and I loved the honesty bar, and enjoyed sitting in font of the open fire sipping a G&T of Brecon gin!

Review 32:Nothing, it was all fab.

Review 33:Lovely building, recently updated and to a very high standard. Our room had such a comfy bed - we slept so well! Very tasty breakfast too. Lee & John are such nice hosts and have lots of information about the area, including walking maps. We were only here for one night and have said that we will definitely come and stay here again, but for longer!

Review 34:Ensuite space was a bit limited. They have made the best of the space available making a really good bedroom area.

Review 35:Lee and John have done a fantastic renovation job on this property in early 2015. Opened since Apr 15, the b&b is welcoming, spotlessly clean with a modern feel. Furnishings from John Lewis are well accommodated and the log burning stove a real asset. They deserve every success and appear to be well on the road to gaining it. Well done! To

Review 36:Rooms at the front overlook the street and during the night as the building only has single payned glass you can hear some drunken revellers passing by.

Review 37:The owner was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. Rooms were immaculate.

Review 38:The bed and breakfast is run by a friendly couple who go the extra mile so that you have a really relaxing comfortable stay in Brecon. The rooms are spacious, spotless and comfortable with little touches that make you feel you are home from home. The breakfast is delicious and the menu has a good variety and even caters for vegetarians as well as continental breakfast for those who prefer it. I would definitely recommend staying at Ty Helyg if you are visiting Wales, book now - there is is comfy seat by the fireplace waiting for you!
