Reviews for The Arrandale Hotel
Review 1:Room was cold when we arrived and again the next evening at about 19:30 but heating was on really early on Saturday morning at 06:00ish so room was too hot then; No heating in bathroom; Very poor shower water pressure; Under sheet too small for bed so came unmade each night; Shiny duvet cover and over sheet slid against each other so over sheet also came off bed.
Review 2:Good location: fairly central; Friendly staff
Review 3:The seperate charge for breakfast
Review 4:Location near all variety of food outlets, railway station 15 minutes, bus even closer beach nearby. Parking plentiful but needed some planning as theres a three hour limit between 8 and 18:00.
Review 5:Beautiful hotel located just a short walk from the high street and river Ayr. The friendly staff were incredibly helpful and it was a pleasure to stay there. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
Review 6:Our host, Linda, was the best! She was so kind, hospitable, and very helpful, as this was our first visit to the U.K! Our accommodations we very nice and comfortable. We were also impressed with the cleanliness of our room. The location was so convenient as well. Walking distance to Ayrs' quaint shops and restaurants and just a skip to the sea! Lovely!!
Review 7:Nothing
Review 8:Welcoming friendly owner, got a free room upgrade due to owner goodwill and because an ensuite room became available. Great tasty breakfast. Clean rooms and a great hotel stay. Would highly recommend.
Review 9:Other guests arrived late and disturbed our sleep. Cords to kettles in some rooms are too short to reach power outlet.
Review 10:Host was very friendly and accommodating.
Review 11:We had a wonderful overnight stay. The hospitality was first class. We had a family room,so we could stay together as a family. I would be very happy to stay there again. A great big thank you to all staff. xx
Review 12:Owner and staff were exceptional. Went out of there way to make my family at ease and comfortable!!
Review 13:Ease of getting around. Very close to the bus station and beach.
Review 14:Paid for a Junior suite - did this room have a view - yes - a brick wall from all 3 windows. Dirty drawers, marked sheet, holes in pillow case, dirty skirting in bathroom behind door, dirty ornamental flowers, damp smell, half slice of toast Day 1 with scrambled egg, half slice of toast with 2 poached eggs Day 2
Review 15:The staff who were fabulous as was the location
Review 16:Small, family owned hotel, 2 minutes from town centre. Friendly owner and staff. Large family room, clean, with modern furniture. Large council owned carpark immediately across the road. £2.00 for 24 hours parking, so can't be bad.
Review 17:What an excellent hotel. Lovely staff, clean throughout and plenty of choice for breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Superb location for the air show!
Review 18:thank you Linda and the staff for a fab stay.... fantastic friendliness makes your stay... so helpful of local knowledge and nothing is a problem to them... well done
Review 19:The bed was very creaky and uncomfortable (Eigg).
Review 20:Linda the proprietor has excellent communication skills is very accommodating and friendly to everyone. The staff are also very friendly. It's the second time we've stayed there and we will definitely be back again next year
Review 21:The room was delightful. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The proprietor Linda was really lovely. We did not choose to have breakfast at the hotel. Would definately stay here again.
Review 22:the wifi was very poor
Review 23:Linda did all of our washing because we couldn't find a laundry open. Not only did she was she dried and ironed it. Very impressed with that level of service
Review 24:I think there might have been a blocked drain in the shower, smelled a bit strange
Review 25:Friendly staff, good facilities, good location, relaxed atmosphere, room was bigger than expected, staff very flexible as we changed our plans a few times

Review 28:There was nothing to complain about. It was great.
Review 29:Linda the owner was always friendly, helpful, and welcoming. This is a very well-run B&B, central for the facilities of Ayr and the seafront.
Review 30:None!
Review 31:Everything was ideal, hotel excellent in all ways and was close to everything we needed, would definitely recommend others and we would use it again.
Review 32:to be fair we didn't stay the night. we booked out as the bed was totally unsuitable for my husband, who is over 6 ft. we asked to upgrade and was told all beds were very much the same. so we opted to move on. the lady in charge was very understanding.
Review 33:It was the hottest day of the year so far, in the rest of the UK - and it was very warm in Scotland. But the heating was on - not in our room but in the hall and stairwell. We didn't appreciate that.
Review 34:Linda was very nice, and the room was very comfortable, if a little outdated.
Review 35:Weather cold and wet and windy ano no heating in bedroomno walkin shower.
Review 36:Friendly staff owner very helpful. Provided. A lift to ferry and to restaurant and to the station on our departure.
Review 37:bed was old and very noisey and not very comfortable .
Review 38:hotel is in a great location staff are lovely and friendly great free wifi and my wife loves hotels convience
Review 39:Would liked to have seen marmite or honey on the breakfast menu.
Review 40:Lovely family owned hotel with the personal touch. There were two American couples staying and the owner offered to do washing for them. Fantastic!
Review 41:Not a complaint ,but NO wifi in our room had to go down stairs, advertised ALL areas, but no big deal
Review 42:Everything as very pleasant, nice people, nice breakfast.
Review 43:The breakfast service was kind of slow. If I was staying again I would skip the breakfast and visit a cafe instead.
Review 44:The room was excellent. I particularly appreciated the very thick curtains which kept the room dark at a time of year when it gets light very early. The hotel is one minute on foot from the sea, and ten minutes on foot from the town.
Review 45:Nothing really but this is a genuine ancient mansion and is a work in progress but does not impact negatively on your stay but might make some people a little wary.
Review 46:Quiet location
Review 47:There is nothing that we didn't like about Arrandale Hotel
Review 48:Room was very clean and comfortable. The lounge in the hotel was superb, very spacious with a nice bar. Breakfast was delicious and lots of it. Hotel very convenient for looking round town. Hosts were very welcoming and kind.
Review 49:No issues.
Review 50:Once again we stayed at the Arrandale when on a weekend visit with friends. Very handy for the town centre shops or the beach esplanade where you can have stunning views of Arran. Just a few minutes walk either way from the hotel. Linda and staff as always very welcoming and helpful. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 51:A few more options for a vegetarian cooked breakfast would be good.
Review 52:* Location - close to town centre and beach * Friendly staff * Comfy room * Quiet location
Review 53:The old oak framed bed which creaked every time I moved, but did not keep me awake.
Review 54:The welcome I got was like the facilities and standard of the room excellent, nothing was to much trouble and even got up early to do my breakfast (not usually until 8am).A must stay for anyone in the area.
Review 55:Room very cramped and quite cold. Bathroom even more cramped and very cold as no heating at all. Towels remained damp & floor tiles very cold. Extractor fan continued for about 30 minutes
Review 56:Staff were pleasant
Review 57:Central location near the town centre yet only a short walk to the beach. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Very nice breakfasts
Review 58:People have different tastes and requirements but we had no complaints whatsoever for our stay.
Review 59:This is the third time we have stayed. Always a warm welcome received from Linda and staff who are most helpful. This time of year of course it's cold outside but the hotel was nice an warm and the rooms were cosy. Just what you need when you have been out and about most of the day. Close to the town centre (within easy walking distance) yet just a stroll from the seafront where you can get plenty of fresh air and a wonderful view of Arran's snow topped peaks. Breakfast as always, delightful. We had another enjoyable stay.
Review 60:Only being able to stay one night.
Review 61:The twin room with en suite was spotless comfortable and warm Linda and staff were friendly and very helpful, cooked breakfast was excellent. The hotel is 5mins walk from Gaiety which suited us the glass of wine was good quality that we had from the bar. This hotel was the excellent value for money and only wish we had found it sooner will definitely be back and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. Had no problem with parking.
Review 62:I was through for a night out with my uni friends and the lady (Linda) gave me a free late check out just Incase. Great service all round and would definitely recommend.
Review 63:Desperately looking for something that was not 100%, I would have to say that the heating in the bedrooms was a bit to hot.
Review 64:Everything, from the friendliness and helpfulness of the owner and her staff to the comfort of the beds and the tasty breakfast.
Review 65:Nothing we didn't like
Review 66:The manager and staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely. Our stay was very good value for money and we would visit again and recommend to friends and family.
Review 67:We were quite amazed at the value for money this hotel offered. Our twin bedded, en-suite room was comfortable and clean, as was the communal lounge. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was freshly prepared and and of good quality.
Review 68:Really lovely landlady. Took time to get to know you and made me feel like you were a welcomed guest. The free upgrade in room was a pleasant bonus. Really lovely area of Ayr close to the beach and 5 minutes walk to the centre of town. Would happily have stayed here for more nights
Review 69:breakfast wasn't included in the room rate.
Review 70:excellent location, family room upstairs was perfect for our needs, cosy lounge, bar, the staff made you feel welcome and were happy to help.
Review 71:We had two different rooms during our stay. We changed rooms because I have trouble climbing stairs, but I have to say our 2nd floor room was quite charming and the wifi worked really well. Changing to a first floor room was easier for me, but the room wasn't quite as charming although it was a 2 room suite, and the wifi didn't work there. My suggestion is to get one of the cute 2nd floor rooms!
Review 72:It is a pretty Victorian Hotel, well located with plenty of parking. The owner and everyone working there were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and held in a lovely little dining room.
Review 73:bit difficult to plug things in so had to move stuff around
Review 74:good breakfast and close to seafront for a bracing walk.... friendly owner staff, would stay again
Review 75:Unfortunately, Ayr was a pretty boring town.
Review 76:Service was friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The B&B seemed to be a mish mash of various styles which made it interesting.
Review 77:Bathroom bit on small side with shower only which is fine for one night but I do like a bath.
Review 78:As we were going to Gaiety Theatre which is in centre of Ayr location was very good, no parking fees to pay. Owner and staff very helpful and accommodation of good standard. Excellent breakfast.
Review 79:Only one thing which is really nothing, carrying the pram 1 flight of stairs.
Review 80:The welcome given was friendly, the staff were all smart and could not do enough for us. The breakfast was cooked to order & tasty. Room was clean and did what we needed. If l am needing to stay in ayr again this will be my first place to stay.
Review 81:Nothing.
Review 82:The welcome we got was first class. Our host was able to recommend a great restaurant five minutes from the hotel which is very central to the town of Ayr The hotel is very clean and our room was very spacious Stayed two nights Breakfast was very good as well, piping hot with hot plates One of my pet hates is a cold plate. Plenty choice of cereals yogurts and grapefruit Would recommend We will certainly be back.
Review 83:Nothing to report here
Review 84:A very warm welcome from Linda and staff who look after their guests and are always willing to help and assist with any enquiries. They have lots of local knowledge which helps greatly when getting about etc. and always have time for a wee chat. Clean comfortable rooms and very enjoyable breakfasts. The location is good for the town centre.
Review 85:Shower went cold after 2 mins. No BBC 1. Said there was a bar, but it was never opened.
Review 86:Nice and quiet, breakfast was lovely, staff were very friendly, cheerful, and helpful.
Review 87:met owner who let us in room early to leave our stuff without problem owner trustworthy as i paid bill at night & could not remember until spoke to owner in morning at breakfast will certainly book again when next time going to ayr
Review 88:Two things - the mattress and a slight hiccup in room cleaning. The mattress has seen better nights - springs have gone and very noisy when there is any movement. I saw a review dated in 2013 that mentioned the mattress - it obviously has not been noted. I also found a used teabag in the teapot - and not used by me! The radiator in the bathroom also had a broken thermostat so didn't work.
Review 89:The room was clean and had everything you could need.
Review 90:Good location close to main town of Ayr for shops and restaurants. Lots of parking available at hotel so no issues. Received a warm and friendly welcome and had a lovely breakfast each morning. Great weather too which helps anywhere!
Review 91:I have nothing bad to say about the great little hotel.
Review 92:Arrived in Ayr with no where to stay late in the evening and took the first hotel that came up - it was a really good rate so I expected it to be a bit rough and ready but I was so wrong. Without any doubt this was the best value accommodation I have had in years. Clean and comfortable. Staff cannot do enough to help. Great location near the town centre and sea front. Plenty of free parking. Fabulous breakfast.
Review 93:Everything,.,. Nothing was too much,.., responses straight away,. issues sorted even though issues were only mentioned in idle chatter,.,. cant wait to visit Scotland again,.,.Even if i was not staying at Ayr i would be pleased to detour just to stay here.
Review 94:3 hour parking zone around hotel, pay and display car park in front of hotel and small free car park some distance away by the beach
Review 95:Short walk to the sea or town centre. Good sized room and very clean. Excellent power shower.
Review 96:Nothing at all.
Review 97:The owner is very welcoming and friendly, the location is great for the town and beach, my room was very clean, comfortable, lovely breakfast with plenty of choice, ample on street parking. This was my second stay and I'll be back again next time I'm in Ayr.
Review 98:I had the small single room, and it wasn't en suite - the private shower and loo were on the half landing through a fire door. However I knew that when I booked and I think it is reflected in the price. Also I was woken by some very noisy guests returning at 5 am who talked until 6am. This is not the fault of the B and B - perhaps a notice to guests to be considerate of others would do the trick?
Review 99:Friendly greeting, tea and coffee tray in the room, white fluffy towels, cleanliness, and price! I also liked the fact that breakfast was optional, as I don't eat much breakfast, so it is generally wasted on me. The location is very good.
Review 100:Our room door had been burst end open at one point and there was a gap in it bills were out in both lamps and when I went to reception nobody was available also one member of staff was very unpleasant breakfast was good except they forgot our tea we had to ask for it also had to ask for orange juice only had mango out
Review 101:Comfy bed and big airy toilet
Review 102:Dark, old fashion, dingy - in need of a makeover.
Review 103:Location - it suited us for the one nights stay as we were meeting family for dinner and it was a walk away.
Review 104:This is a guest house not a hotel. There is no option for an evening meal. Breakfast is between 8-9am only even on Sundays which was not suitable for our teenage children, but the town was open so after a short walk we found some food for them. Our rooms smelt smoke when we arrived despite the no smoking signs, we had to open the windows to clear the smell. One night we bought drinks from the bar including soft drinks for our children, after drinking them we realised they were out of date. My daughters were fine but I would prefer to buy in date drinks.
Review 105:The owner is very friendly and the room rate is very reasonable. The location is close to the sea front and town is within easy walking distance. As a guest house I would recommend.
Review 106:The check-in time was 14:30 but as we had a wedding to attend at 13:30 I had phoned Linda to ask if we could check in a little earlier at 12:30. Linda was really accommodating and went out her way to ensure we were able to check-in early and get ready for the wedding. Thr room was lovely. It had period features and a beautiful large bed. I would highly recommend this hotel and would most definitely stay here again if we need to visit Ayr. Beautiful location also and close to town and beach front.
Review 107:I can't fault this hotel.
Review 108:Lovely room with a comfy bed. Clean bathroom with a great shower. Very freindly owner who makes one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. 5 minutes walk from both the town and the beach. Had a very enjoyable stay and would stay here again.
Review 109:nothing anyone who does not enjoy a stay at this hotel has life issues.
Review 110:clean pleasant homely feel. lovely big bed and clean room excellent breakfast not drop of grease on plate excellent
Review 111:Breakfast was a bit disorganized , I think they were having problems with the cooker , but as we were in no particular rush , it wasn't a big problem
Review 112:Good location , comfy clean rooms , had the feel of an old fashioned comfy b + b l
Review 113:room was like a suana as radiator on permanent high & couldn't be turned off - told that it was broken ! couldn't sleep Not offered another room or discount !!!!!! Owner showed no interest in the problem .
Review 114:location is good staff friendly
Review 115:only problem is we didn't order the breakfast, it smelled amazing and we were very jealous!
Review 116:Lovely staff, nice clean modern room and lovely lounge area, would recommend highly!
Review 117:The room for us as grandparents wth 3 young grandchildren was spaciousand clean and comfortable. Perfect. Having private facilities was a goodhelp and the room was quiet. Good choice at breakfast. Patience withgrandchildren appreciated making choices.
Review 118:Bed was very uncomfortable, with mattress springs almost going through. Towels weren't replaced in the week that we stayed there.
Review 119:Good location, friendly staff
Review 120:we liked the hospitality from the hotel owner Linda and all her great staff we think this hotel should be a four star as it was so comfortable and clean and the food was superb
Review 121:Very warm welcome on arrival and a lovely quiet room which was described as small but in fact was bigger than other hotel rooms we have had in other hotels.
Review 122:Location was fantastic, hotel lovely and homely and comfortable. Linda really was the nicest hotelier we have met, only there 2 nights but felt as though we had known her for years. Very kind and considerate and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed and helped arrange an early taxi for us. Will definitely return.
Review 123:Tasteful, warm & comfortable bedroom & public rooms. Wonderful breakfast
Review 124:Friendliness and helpfulness of owner
Review 125:everything thing,,
