Reviews for L'Escapade Versaillaise
Review 1:OK for 3 people, but no room to spare.
Review 2:Apartment nicely done, host Geraldine very helpful. Comfortable furniture/beds. Great location for visiting chateau and market.
Review 3:Absence of elevators made moving heavy baggages up or down the stairs quite difficult.
Review 4:Neat and quite comfortable. Our hostess was very warm and helpful.
Review 5:Very small living/dining room with sofa bed. 15 minutes walk from the station (RER Left) Bank. Parking offsite. At €190 for one night too pricey.
Review 6:Friendly Staff. Quality fittings. Nice location for the Chateau. Nice double bed.
Review 7:Only problem was parking, but thenot again it is a problem throughout Versailles. Strongly recommend that you arrive by train , as you can walk everywhere and it will save a fortune in parking fees and frustration in finding a space.
Review 8:Superb quality establishment close to everything. High end decor. Geraldine the owner was extremely helpful.
Review 9:We loved our two nights at this apartment - the location is absolutely perfect and it is so beautifully and tastefully presented with high quality furnishings, bed linens and towels etc. Geraldine is the loveliest host - she is so friendly and kind and made us feel very welcome. Secure parking is just around the corner and we managed to get short term on street parking for unloading which was great. We loved using Versailles as our base for a short trip to Paris - it is such a beautiful town. We will do this again as soon as we can - and we will definitely come back to L'Escapade.
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:I loved the spacious modern decor and facilities of our apartment. The owner, was very welcoming and obliging. The property is in a quiet location and close to shops and in particular only a short walk to the Versailles Palace. Wifi was excellent!
Review 12:The apartment was beautiful and well placed to visit Versaille and Paris (train station close and frequent trains that only take 35 minutes or so) Geraldine was there to meet us and was so helpful at arranging parking, tickets etc. The apartment was so quiet as it overlooks the courtyard. Anyone with a disability may find it difficult as it is on the second floor, with old, uneven wooden stairs up (I thought they were beautiful but am able bodied) However Geraldine also has one on the ground floor. I would not stay anywhere else if I return to Versaille
Review 13:The owner was just amazing, so friendly and helpful. The beds very comfortable and everything in top condition. We would highly recommend staying here
Review 14:We were surprised to find out upon arrival that the apt. did not have a private entrance or a patio as stated. It was actually on the third floor of a very old apt. building and NO lift. The stairs were extremely old worn, wooden, winding and smoothed out over the edges and in the middle. It was a huge problem for my daughter and I to get our luggage up and down. The host said I should mention next time that I have a problem climbing stairs and she will give us the apt. with the private entrance. (like the one I thought I rented based on her description and the pictures?) I would not have rented there if I had known about it being on the third floor with no lift and no patio since I planned on stepping outside from time to time to sit down and have a glass of wine and a cigarette.
Review 15:The apt. building is in the city close to shops and in walking distance to Versailles. The inside of the apt. has high end finishes and decorated with very nice furnishings and kitchen utensils that all are brand new. The entire apt. inside including the kitchen and bathroom are beautifully remodeled.
Review 16:The apartment was immaculate, comfortable Romantic, beautifully decorated with amazing French linen sheets. The host Geraldine is kind and thoughtful everything you could ask for was provided. Perfect location next time we will stay longer Versailles has much more to do and see besides the château.
Review 17:Nothing, we would recommend l'Escapade to anyone looking for a neat little room near the chateau and within walking distance of the train to Paris. Very close to restaurants and boulngeries as well.
Review 18:The location, minutes from the chateau and the helpful friendly owner, Geraldine.
Review 19:Tiny cramped studio which barely accommodated two people. Since the only windows looked onto a courtyard, there was no privacy in the apartment.
Review 20:The kitchenette was clean, modern and well appointed.
Review 21:We weren't sure how the microwave worked and couldn't find instructions.
Review 22:Geraldine was very friendly and organised tickets for the palace and advised us on our stay.
Review 23:I loved everything. Couldn't fault one thing.
Review 24:The decor was beautiful. The apartments are lovely. Right next to the palace. The owners are great people. It was really perfect and most highly recommended.absolutely 10/10 on everything. Perfect!
Review 25:Climbing to second floor with arthritic knees, was no picnic, but I should have foreseen this, so, no complaints.
Review 26:Convenient to station, Palace restaurants and secure parking, make L'Escapade an ideal stay when visiting Paris or the Chateau! Geraldine & her apartment, were 'the icing on the gateau'!
Review 27:Nothing really, although it was very hot and humid!
Review 28:walking distance to the palace, shops and restaurants. Secure parking. We enjoyed the gardens of the palace, but too crowded inside to enjoy.
Review 29:We went during a heat wave and the unit was a bit warm. Suggested to Geraldine that she install a ceiling fan or at least have portable fans available. She did her best to procure a fan for us but they were all sold out! Appreciated her efforts!
Review 30:Geraldine was extremely helpful! From getting Palace tix for us to arranging a cab to the airport, she was awesome. Room was modern and clean, with great design touches
Review 31:Because we didn't have a European phone, I was unsure how to contact my hostess when we arrived - but she was there waiting! One thing I would improve is to add black-out shades to the bedroom(s) - both for sleeping better and for privacy. Also, I didn't realize that the Chateau is closed on Mondays - a note about that would be helpful! Also, that Chateau tickets might be purchased ahead of time through the proprietor. I would have been interested.
Review 32:The location is superb, so close to the Chateau of Versailles! Also, the décor is very tasteful - even the silverware matches the purples and greys!
Review 33:A lovely opportunity to stay in the middle of Versailles. The accommodation is clean, nicely decorated and perfect for a family with older children. Our host Geraldine was extremely helpful in organising parking, Versailles Palace tickets and Paris Museum Pass tickets.
Review 34:why do French insist on silly square pillows? Is it just us because we hate them.
Review 35:Our host Getaldine was absolutely lovely and very welcoming. The apartment was great for our two night stay with 2 adults and 2 young children (7&9). The location is just a couple of minutes to the palais and we had Geraldine purchase our tix in advance which saved us time. She was also very help in making a Dr.s appt for my husband who got ill.
Review 36:Getting the key, because I didn't get the message to call one hour before. But a kind lady passing by let me use her phone and the agent hurried to come and let us in.
Review 37:It was VERY clean, new, great taste in interior design, modern, convenient, BEST location, BEST staff.
Review 38:Nothing at all. It was all fabulous.
Review 39:The appartment was within easy walking distance of the Palace of Versailles (5 minutes). It was also right in the heart of the town, with bars, restaurants and the market just a stroll away. It was very comfortable, with everything you could wish for - a well equipped kitchen, with microwave, nespresso machine and dishwasher. The modern bathroom had a large walk-in shower. The owner, Geraldine, organised tickets for the Palace and parking for us. She was on hand to welcome us and was not cross when we left with the parking swipe card - we did return it! Can't recommend this highly enough. It was fabulous for a 3 night stay.
Review 40:The apartment was completely renovated with all the comforts of home. It was located in a very quiet courtyard. The location was perfect for those wanting to visit Versaille. It was located in a very nice and safe neighborhood with numerous restaurants and stores. There was an outstanding farmers market. By staying here overnight, we were able to avoid all the lines at Versaille and were able to have the grounds almost to ourselves in the evening. Start at the Trianon mid-day, and book a mid afternoon tour. Geraldine was great to work with and was an extremely accommodating host. If you are coming to Versaille, STAY HERE. You won't be sorry.
Review 41:Everything was perfect.
Review 42:The location was ideal for visiting the palace and for eating out in the evening. Geraldine was a wonderful host and very helpful in recommending a lovely restaurant for our last night. She even rang and made a reservation for us.
Review 43:A perfect place to stay if you don't want to drive your car into Paris. A really nicely styled apartment situated close to the Castle. But also central in a beautiful suburb of Paris we didn't know beforehand. Kind and helpful owners!
Review 44:The facilities were excellent with everything you need in an apartment. The sofa bed was very comfortable and we slept like babies. The kitchen area had all the utensils and modern cooking equipment. The coffee machine with the abundant supply of coffee capsules was a real treat! Geraldine was so friendly and helpful, she made us feel so comfortable. The location is fantastic just a few minutes walk to Versailles Castle. There are also lots of bakeries and supermarkets for your convenience. We will stay here again.
Review 45:No onsite parking. Parking is a 5 minute walk and located underground. But safe and secure.
Review 46:Location could not get much better. Within a few minutes walk you are in the palace gardens. On Saturdays, try the early morning fresh produce market at the intersection of Rue de la Paroisse and Rue du Maréchal Foch. 10 minute walk to the Rive Droit station that will get you into Paris. Loved it Will be back
Review 47:The Appartment is perfectly located for visiting the Château and also for shops, restaurants and the market. It is warm, clean and comfortable and nicely decorated. The shower is also excellent. The supply of tea, cereals and Nespresso coffee was a lovely touch.
Review 48:Nothing!
Review 49:Geraldine went out of her way to make our stay as perfect as possible. The apartment was beautiful and the coffee from the little machine in the kitchen was a real luxury!
Review 50:What's not to like? This place was great!
Review 51:We spent a long weekend in this apartment and thoroughly appreciated the location and comfort this apartment afforded. The owners were fantastic - they were warm hosts and provided us with excellent advice and assistance, long before we arrived (helping us make our travel plans from the airport, securing passes for the palace for us and so on.) The accommodation was very comfortable, spotless and superbly equipped. The location could not have been better, being so close to the palace and the market (often cited as the best in 'Paris'.) Lots of lovely local shops, bakeries and restaurants (from bistros to Michelin stars) are on the doorstep with a supermarket a couple of minutes walk away. We would gladly stay here again - in fact, I would not consider anywhere else, were we to revisit Versailles. Highly recommended.
Review 52:There was nothing to not like ! It ticked all the boxes :-))
Review 53:Cleanliness and comfort ,Geraldine and David very welcoming, excellent situation near to palace, shops and restaurants,we felt very relaxed
Review 54:Leaving!!!!
Review 55:Location was superb, short walk to the Chateau of Versailles and the Domaine, very close to the market square and a wide range of bars and restaurants. Geraldine and David could not do enough for us before we arrived, organized the tickets for our visit to the Chateau and the Domaine and also the underground car parking a short walk away from the apartment and were very helpful on the day we arrived. The studio apartment we stayed in was finished to a very high standard and the sofa bed was very comfortable to sleep on. Tea, coffee and breakfast cereals were provided in the kitchen. There was even a washer/dryer in the kitchen which was well received by us. Toiletries were also provided and the towels were lovely and thick in the shower room. Unfortunately I forgot to take some pictures of the apartment inside but the pictures on Booking.com do reflect the condition of the apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at L'Escapade Versaillaise and will definitely re-book the next time we visit Versailles. Also, close enough to visit Monet's Garden at Giverny which was a bonus.
Review 56:Not a thing! August in Versailles is very busy at the Palace and quite a few shops are closed for annual holidays - that's France but we still love it!!
Review 57:Geraldine and David were so welcoming and kind, obtaining our palace tickets and car park pass. The apartment was beautifully decorated with immaculate taste, beautiful bedding and towels; and we only wished we could stay longer. Very central location - we parked the car and walked everywhere, lots of local restaurants, loads of shops, very close to the palace. Some day we will return.
Review 58:Loved everything, no bad points at all!
Review 59:What a lovely place, a studio hidden in a quaint courtyard in the Heart of Versailles. We chose it for the location, just 5mins from the entrance to the palace, made our life so much easier with two small children who would be tired enough with all the sightseeing. Beautifully appointed apartment, lovely furnishings and well appointed kitchen, great coffee machine! We gave the kids the double bed and had the sofa which was fine for a few days. The immediate area is lovely too, with good shopping and luxury goods. The owners were extremely helpful, and even arranged our palace entrance tickets in advance, many thanks for a lovely stay!
Review 60:Musty smell in studio. Dark. Most local shops and restaurants closed for summer holidays!
Review 61:Proximity to main attractions of Versailles. Geraldine very helpful. Well equipped studio.
Review 62:The apartment and owners were wonderful. It was a great location. Mrs. Geraldine even got our palace tickets and a parking pass before we arrived. Even though the apartment was not air conditioned, we slept great with the windows open. Would definitely stay again.
Review 63:Beautiful apartment in great location.
Review 64:NOTHING
Review 65:EVERYTHING!!
Review 66:A quiet mem in the centre of town
Review 67:Perfect flat in great location
Review 68:N/a
Review 69:Fantastic location, facilities & host! We will return (- the children!) Thanks to Geraldine who made the trip with her hospitality.
Review 70:Could have done with more cooking equipment especially tea spoons.
Review 71:The location and the rooms.
Review 72:Beautiful decor and peaceful setting.Geraldine is a charming and helpful host.
Review 73:Fantastic location close to the Chateau and shops. Geraldine was very helpful and welcoming. Superbly equipped accommodation. Quiet and secure.
Review 74:Everything was perfect
Review 75:Geraldine the owner was welcoming, professional and charming.
Review 76:Being so near to Markets, Restaurants and the centre of Versailles
Review 77:Absolutely nothing to not like, it is fantastic.
Review 78:Lovely host, great location, comfy beds, nice pillows, towels...everything!
Review 79:Loved Geraldine, what a wonderful hostess. Close to Versailles. Bakery across the street. Close to Train Station
Review 80:The need to sleep on a sofa bed. Although it was quite comfortable you do not expect to have to sleep on a sofa bed in an apartment for the price
Review 81:I didn't realize the heater was on so it was a bit warm at night. Just look at the controls.
Review 82:Small but comfortable studio in a great location with lots of good food options very close by. Convenient to visit everything.
Review 83:The only item that bugged me was the lack of basic supplies, ie: dishwasher tablets/liquid, tea, uht milk etc. It can be a little difficult if you are arriving late, to pick these basic items up.
Review 84:The proximity to the palace of Versailles (5 minute walk), places this property high on the list for those who wish to get there before the crowds. It's also easy to zip back for lunch before tackling the extensive gardens. Shops, cafe's, supermarkets, are all within minutes, so it's easy to stock up on supplies.
Review 85:The staff was very pleasant and helpful with making our advance ticket purchase for the palace and parking arrangements!! The apartment is conveniently located near restaurants, tourist attractions and the RER line into Paris. Giverny is about a 35-45 minute drive so very centrally located for various destinations!!
Review 86:The wonderful welcome from Géraldine, who is a lovely lady, who made us feel instantly at home. She is chatty and friendly and gave us great advice about everything (including restaurants) and had organised our Versailles chateau tickets which saved us a 2 hour wait! THE LOCATION IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT as so near the chateau and yet in a quiet little courtyard (Parisian style charm!) and so different from a hotel, so pretty and cute. I would love to see it when the sun is shining. The studio apartment is furnished in a contemporary style with great taste and the owners have thought of everything in terms of facilities. It was spotlessly clean (which I noted as we ran a gites (holiday cottages) business ourselves for 8 years) so tend to be over critical. The sofa bed was very comfortable and all I can say is I wish we could have stayed longer and sat outside in the courtyard drinking a lovely glass of wine and taking in the atmosphere. This place is a real find!
Review 87:Nothing.
Review 88:The studio flat was very tastefully furnished in French style with all the modern conveniences you could wish for especially the coffee machine and washing machine with dryer. The bed was really comfortable. David met us and was able to help us with all the questions we put to him about trains, tickets, sightseeing etc. He was extremely friendly, charming and helpful. The bakery across the road was fabulous as was Versailles in general - really beautiful and easy to commute into Paris on a daily basis. We loved everything!
Review 89:This worked out wonderfully for us and the owners are such nice people and incredibly helpful. I highly recommend spending at least one night in Versailles - so much easier to organize your visit to the chateau in a way as to avoid the crowds.
Review 90:There was nothing not to like. It was all perfect. Location, facilities even little extras like a proper nespresso machine with a choice of coffee, squishy new towels and nice toilette paper and tissues. (I only mention this as I stayed in a hotel the day after in Paris for TWICE the price that had newspaper like tissues and cheap toilette paper!!)
Review 91:I don't have any complaints!
Review 92:The location was unbeatable and the rooms were impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. In this price range, this is a really awesome find. I will definitely go back. The owner (Geraldine) was exceptional. She greeted us every time by name with a smile. She stood in stark contrast to other innkeepers and hotel staff that we met along our way in France.
Review 93:Had trouble finding only because I didn't know it was right beside Notre Dame Church Versailles. If you know that you can't go wrong finding it.
Review 94:My wife and I have nothing bad to say about this apartment. Wonderful room, fantastic location central to the palace, Sunday market, restaurants....Will definitely go there and stay again. The owners are perfect.
Review 95:Excellent location in lovely part of town, near to Palace & Gardens and local market square with restaurants / bars / boulangeries. Owners very pleasant and keen to assist in any way. Short walk to train into Paris. One bed apartment great for two adults and two children. Interior of apartment very nice decor and good quality furnishing / bed linen & pillows etc. I would highly recommend.
Review 96:The owners, David & Geraldine, were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again, when we return to Versailles.
Review 97:nothing
Review 98:we loved everything! the apartment was incredibly equipped, spotlessly clean, everything worked and it was a extremely luxurious apartment! it is a 5 min walk to the castle, and you right outside your door, you have a lovely street with bakeries and coffee shops. the hosts could not do enough for you, they were incredible!
Review 99:We loved it! The hosts David and Geraldine are super nice people and they really do everything they can to make your stay nice. Merci! The location was just perfect a few minutes walk from the chateau, food stores and nice little bakerys near. Market on weekends, romantic restautants, the village it self small on friendly, nice contrast to the luxury of the chateau...Easy to reach from the airport by train.
Review 100:I would have liked a duvet on the bed, not because it was cold, I just like the snuggle factor which you don't quite achieve with a single blanket!
Review 101:Ideal central location to visit the chateau and cathedral, shop the local food/gift market and to eat out. Superb host, modern comfortable, albeit compact appartment
Review 102:A lovely location in the centre of Versailles, convenient for the chateau, shops, restaruants, transport to Paris and the market. Versailles is a beautiful area with its obvious attractions but lovely to explor the rest of the town too. The apartment is amazing and the proprietors extremely helpful and welcoming. We would love to return! We stayed as a family, Mum, Dad and two grown up girls who also loved it. It was lovely to explore Paris and come out of the city in the evening to such a lovely apartment. Highly recommended but don't want everyone to know!
Review 103:No air conditioning was our only complaint.
Review 104:Close to Versailles Palace. Also close to shopping, restaurants. Davidmet us and filled us in to all the information we would need to visitVersailles and Paris. It was clean and very comfortable. We loved thefact that it was so close to everything. Also that we could run to thelocal bakery for chocolate croissants every morning!
Review 105:The apartment was beautiful. Very modern and done with excellent taste. Staff (David) was wonderful. We needed a screwdriver and he went home and got one and brought it back for us.
Review 106:This was the perfect size, perfect location, perfect host. The only downside was that Geraldine directed me to the "best" pastry shop in town.... It took me 4 visits in 24 hours to confirm that evaluation
Review 107:Finished to a very high standard. The owners were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is fantastic and the access to the hotel makes you feel like a local.
Review 108:Excellent location. Beautifully decorated. Very comfortable bed, luxurious towels, furnishings, etc. Kitchen and use of washing machine in the apartment. Nice amenities - nespresso machine and very high quality tea. Check out the farmers market a few blocks away. Very convenient bakery across the street.
Review 109:Very nice studio apartment. Clean and quiet. The sofa bed was extremelycomfortable however if you are used to a larger sized american bed, itwould be snug for two people. David and Geraldine were very accomodatingand responsive to me when I couldn't figure out how to operate thestovetop. Very good location for the sights in Versailles.
Review 110:This is not a negative, but more of a suggestion. It would be helpful to have user manuals for some of the appliances. They are very high quality but it was not immediately apparent to us how they operated (to us befuddled Americans).
Review 111:The apartment is in a great location for exploring the city of Versailles. It is very attractively furnished with modern appliances. The internet worked well. The helpful owners seem to truly care about the comfort of their guests, and went out of their way to be available. For example, I thought the hot water heater was not working properly and they came over quickly to check it out (it turns out it is just smaller than what we were used to, and therefore had to reheat the water again more frequently). They also checked in on us (by email) during the unexpected large snowstorm that hit most of Europe while we were there in March 2013 to make sure all was well; we were nice and cozy in the apartment. I would love to stay here again!
Review 112:we stayed in the studio. bed was a bit small for us. perfect place for single person.
Review 113:loved the location. very clean and newly remodeled. very quiet and close to restaurants, parking, and site seeing.
Review 114:Fantastic location in beautiful Versailles. Right in the middle of the town. Easy to walk to shops, restaurants, markets & palace. Small apartment but perfect for 3 people. Clean with great kitchen & beautiful furnishings. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Review 115:having to leave
Review 116:geraldine was very welcoming and the apartment had everything we needed. decor wonderful as was location with walkiing distance to train and chateau. private and quite. thank you.
Review 117:We had a wonderful experience here. The owners are amazing and the location is perfection. I would highly recommend booking this apartment.
