Reviews for Savoy Park Hotel
Review 1:Our room this time had a locked connecting door to the room next door which did not provide any sound proofing to the loud guests who also had a dog which randomly scratched at the door. The also loud guests on the other side were foul language experts. We realize this is not the fault of the hotel but never the less it still spoiled our stay.We did not complain as we have stayed at The Savoy Park many times and never had a problem.
Review 2:Have stayed here many times .The staff are a credit to the hotel. The hotel offers good car parking and is close to the town and the beach.
Review 3:No bad experience.
Review 4:This s a very friendly staffed hotel always ready to make sure we have what we need. Food is excellent and very good value with a large selection on the Menu.
Review 5:Unfortunately a car alarm was going off from 4 in the morning.
Review 6:Food was excellent, and the rooms were very comfortable,it was also well placed for my work.
Review 7:Only gripe, stair and foyer carpets required a good vacuum made the fine manor hose a bit too shabby chic! though it was just after New Year!
Review 8:Ambient Baronial Scottish surroundings and Scottish hospitality
Review 9:Nothing.
Review 10:We couldn't fault this hotel. Everything was perfect. The hotel is beautiful with a lovely garden. Our room was huge and extremely comfortable. We had the half board option, the food was excellent both nights and incredible value for money. The best thing of all were the staff who were all charming and incredibly helpful.
Review 11:We had a perfect stay and felt like at home. The staff was very friendly and they fulfilled every wish with pleasure. The hotel is so lovely furnished and we enjoyed the time there to the fullest. We highly recommend it!
Review 12:The room was small, still good value fur the price but it was cold ... Unusual for a hotel. Woke up in night and had to get a blanket. I was still freezing. But it is a fabulous and very beautiful old building and hard to heat. Didn't put us off.
Review 13:We loved the cosy lounge with the real flame fires. Beatifully and tastefully decorated and very festive and magical for Christmas ...looking out to the pretty garden from the stunning huge Windows. Plenty parking and nothing to much trouble
Review 14:Had stayed here before as my son had his wedding there. Hotel is brilliant. Clean and tidy. Meals were 1st class and all the staff made you feel very welcome
Review 15:Hiter was not working properly.
Review 16:The staff was very kind, the location was very good, close to the city center as well as to the sea side. Nice atmosphere, quite luxury and very confortable.
Review 17:Nothing not to like......
Review 18:Friendly staff. Good food - lunch and breakfast freshly cooked. Nice room. Good value for money. Normally stay in another hotel in Ayr when visiting family. Will definatley book into Savoy Park again.
Review 19:Would prefer walk in shower Flat beer at the bar but this was dealt with efficiently
Review 20:Excellent reception staff Breakfast first rate and service at breakfast excellent Room really good
Review 21:We had the coldest bathroom in the world. Water coming in the windows hence the towels on the windowsill when we got into the room. They were soaked through by morning and howling draft coming through the gaps.
Review 22:Staff so friendly even gave us a free glass of bubbly when we checked in ?
Review 23:Booked superior double room and were disappointed. We knew that room 19 was on the 2nd floor but it wasn't immediately apparent on booking that there was no lift. Had this been a classic double we would have been satisfied but it did not justify being described as superior. Two of the four walls were sloping. There were no toiletries in the bathroom other than fixed liquid soap dispensers and the one by the bath was around 5 feet above the bath, and so when bathing it was not accessible. The only heating in the bathroom was a towel warmer which was totally inadequate and the room was very cold (outside temperature was around 10 C.).
Review 24:Location. Food
Review 25:Lovely comfortable dog friendly hotel, the large garden was ideal.Nothing was too much trouble and the dogs were made to feel very welcome . Room was large and comfortable and the food was excellent.
Review 26:only disappointment was the removal of the sofas in the bar since we last stayed but only a little disappointment
Review 27:Loved the atmosphere, the food, staff ..............all very good and relaxing
Review 28:We chose the Savoy Park Hotel as the reviews and website claimed it was dog friendly, however our dog was confined to the room and was not allowed in any of the communal areas (apart from the garden). I appreciate dogs shouldn’t be allowed in the dining room, but a dog friendly hotel should allow the dog to sit in the bar area at least. This meant we had to take the dog to a different hotel to have a drink at night.
Review 29:The room itself was clean and spacious and they provided tea/coffee making facilities. We had a twin room that the staff made into a double for us and the décor was good. We had an issue with our toilet which they sorted straight away. My only negatives would be the lack of plug sockets and the windows needed a clean on the outside. I also had to boil the kettle on the floor as the cable wouldn’t reach up to the desk, which seemed a bit strange. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and the Scottish décor throughout the hotel was home-y with a touch of elegance. I especially liked the room door knockers (brass animals) It added a nice touch. The food in the hotel was absolutely delicious. We had breakfast on both days (I highly recommend the poached eggs), Lunch on day 2 and Dinner on Day 1 and have no faults what-so-ever. Well Done!
Review 30:There was little not to like. I do not think there was a lift in the hotel, so the double lot of stairs had to be negotiated-but I did not mind the exercise. There was a Victorian telephone in the bathroom, aka the shower. However, it looked too complicated to use so I used the bath.
Review 31:I was very impressed with the receptionists. They were very cheerful and welcoming and check in was very quickly and efficiently done. No hanging around ! This is also the first time that I have been taken to my room by hotel staff. The young lady in question offered to carry my bags-but I gallantly refused this request ! The hotel was very conveniently located to the centre of Ayr and I was able to reach the railway station in five minutes brisk walking.
Review 32:If there was a fire on in the bar area it would have been a nice finishing touch but that's only being picky. Other than that - nothing.
Review 33:I am a seasoned traveller who travels all over the world (Australia, New Zealand, USA, Far and Middle East, Europe and also including many cruises) my thoughts on the Savoy Park Hotel:- I was travelling with friends and we needed three (3) rooms. From entering this Victorian Hotel to leaving we met lovely people who could not do enough for us. The hotel atmosphere gives you a warm feeling which is carried on in the dining room and bar. The rooms were spacious, comfortable with good bathrooms. The menu is comprehensively priced to suit every pocket, the evening meal was well presented and very tasty. The Scottish breakfast was the best we had on our 900 plus road trip around Scotland. All in all it was a lovely hotel. Would I stay again - most certainly.
Review 34:Television had only one station but was fixed out within minutes by a member of staff.
Review 35:The service at breakfast was first class. All the staff are friendly and polite.
Review 36:The food was top notch from the scottish breakfast to the evening meal after eating there the first night we did not look any further and ate there for the rest of our stay. :-)
Review 37:The room was roasting, the window didn't open so it was really stuffy. There was a wedding on, which is fine but the noise level after 2am was unacceptable. You could hear everything!
Review 38:Staff were lovely, really lovely! The restaurant was really nice. The location was good.
Review 39:GREAT FOOD STAFF ARE SO HELPFUL ROOMS ARE VERY NICE "HAD A WINDOW VIEW ON TO THE LARGE GARDENS VERY NICE" HOTEL IS A TREAT TO STAY IN AND LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT AS I WOULD NOT STAY ANYWHERE ELSE WE GOT 2NIGHTS B&B FOR £140 EXCELLENT PRICE AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT.
Review 40:have been in savoy park many times and staff are always very nice .after going out after lunch for a few drinks went back to hotel about 10ish we would always get a night cap and sit on sofas at fire but not this time as the night time barman was not very pleasant
Review 41:we like this hotel very much it has great character lovely gardens lovely food and staff are very nice
Review 42:I just found if quite noisy with people walking up and down the corridor , ladies toilet opposite our room, and the stairs and big heavy fire door right outside my room and it just never seemed to stop banging !!!! However because of the excellent facilities provided for my dogs I will be back and recommend to my fellow doggie friends
Review 43:If you are staying with pets I would rate this hotel 5*, staff went out of there way and more!!!!
Review 44:None
Review 45:All round comfort and friendly staff. Upgraded to bigger room with bath. Food was delicious with good vegetarian options (breakfast and dinner).
Review 46:Some rooms are a bit on the small side as are the double beds if you used to a kingsize.
Review 47:I like that I can usually choose the room I want. I love that I can bring my dogs.I would not stay without them! The breakfast is excellent and the 2 for 1 lunch/dinner is fantastic value.
Review 48:Breakfast was at 730 but i was leaving at 730 so believe breakfast should be from 700 to meet with business people.
Review 49:best nights sleep i have had in a hotel for a long time
Review 50:The hotel is well situated being a short walk from the sea front and the town centre. We stayed here for one night as part of a leisure trip to Scotland and had a lovely stay. The staff were all friendly, helpful and polite. We had an evening meal at the hotel. The food was of a high standard with a good selection. Breakfast was just as good. The service was excellent.
Review 51:The staff were absolutely fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. The building has character and they pride themselves on old fashioned values. Food is excellent
Review 52:Be aware the rooms on the top floor have a lot of stairs to reach them.
Review 53:booked at short notice and were pleasantly surprised. Friendly helpful staff, excellent meals, very clean.
Review 54:Lack of usual toiletries that you would expect when paying that price for a room - only generic body was provided. Could have done with conditioner and hand cream - even travel lodge has these...
Review 55:Nice hotel - staff very attentive.
Review 56:Felt the rate was a bit high but it was the weekend of the Scottish Airshow and this was the nearest hotel to the event and we only booked with a few days to go.
Review 57:Very well run hotel with good service provided. The breakfast was really good. Would recommend this hotel with no problem.
Review 58:The only downside was that there was no lift and we had quite a bit of luggage because we are travelling for 7 weeks. A staff member carried most of them however.
Review 59:The staff were extremely helpful and the position was fantastic. We would definitely recommend it.
Review 60:Small double bed, large crack in wash basin, bathroom window on outside dirty and could not open one of the bedroom windows as it was stuck shut. The stairs to the bedrooms on the top floor are steep and narrow. There is no lift. room 12
Review 61:The staff in The Savoy Park are all pleasant, the breakfast is always good and it has easy car parking on site.It has a good location close to beach and shops.
Review 62:Not much to dislike. I couldn't find anywhere to plug the kettle in other than under the desk. Maybe I was missing something?
Review 63:Impressive hotel in lovely grounds, with friendly staff. Easy walk to beach or town centre.
Review 64:Had to change rooms after 1st night. Room dark and no view. Noisy, over looking bottle bins. But 2nd night excellent in different room with view
Review 65:Wonderful Location. Fabulous spacious room with excellent views over the garden. Staff and Management wonderful made our stay.
Review 66:Typical cheap sausages/bacon etc for breakfast gets the day off to a 2nd rate start, I never understand why these places can't spend an extra 50p to £1 and present something worth eating.
Review 67:Friendly staff, great restaurant, nice clean room
Review 68:The staff were wonderful. They were welcoming, pleasant and helpful. My young granddaughter was in our group and one of the staff (we didn't catch her name) was so helpful, giving her colouring books to occupy her at dinner. Well done!
Review 69:The room advertised wifi but there wasn't any. The breakfast staff were great - the dinner waiting staff were not very efficient at all.
Review 70:Breakfast was very good quality unlike the dinner the night before!
Review 71:Bed in twin room way to hard and wifi was slow and I was not told there would be no shower this was not ideal for me as shower was required.
Review 72:Breakfast and staff were good, building is lovely unfortunately the room was just not up to the standard of the rest of the building which is a real shame. Bed and no shower a huge let down.
Review 73:Hotel looked a little old fashioned from outside.
Review 74:Room was clean and spacious and bathroom was the same. Bed was very comfy and pillows very soft as i like them. Food (breakfast) was great according to my father as i didnt have breakfast so all in all was a good stay.
Review 75:Just felt that the room was a little in the small side , but overall very happy
Review 76:Staff were very friendly , hotel was very cosy & such a lovely place to stay in . Would definitely come back again
Review 77:This was our first time staying at a hotel as dog-owners - our little puppy Rocket was travelling with us. The hotel were fab - no fuss or bother at all, staff were so friendly and professional and great with Rocket as well
Review 78:Room 10 my friend was in R9 she would have liked my room as a single room.
Review 79:Clean , close to the town & beach for walks , good value for light evening meals. I will stay again
Review 80:Car park fairly small especially when there is a wedding on. But parking round the corner if stuck. Nothing that we didnt like.
Review 81:Excellent location when you have your dog with you. "mins from the beach. Staff are so obliging. Food brilliant, and good choice on the menu. Nothing is a problem. Gardens are beautifull.
Review 82:cleanliness of bathroom could be improved also very poor quality towels, (thin and grey)
Review 83:Lovely bedroom, well kept gardens, excellent location and good value for money
Review 84:The room was okay but the carpet and bathroom floors had not been hoovered/cleaned. This was attended to whilst we were out.
Review 85:Central location in Ayr. The Hotel advised us in advance there would be a Wedding on and we were allocated a third floor room away from most of the noise.
Review 86:the tiniest quibble and only a personal issue my wife's food came on a wooden block rather than a plate, but other than that it was perfect
Review 87:the staff were very welcoming and the room was lovely. the star of the show was the food. it was excellent and freshly cooked
Review 88:Very old fashioned, short on modern amenities hotel. No lift despite numerous flights of steps to upper rooms. Rooms very oppressively furnished. Heavy, cumbersome and noisy sliding door to en suite did not even close properly. Shower over bath extremely dangerous as no none bath slip surface to stand on and no wall rails to steady or hold on to.
Review 89:Very pleasant reception and serving staff. Ample parking space, lovely garden suitable for outdoor snacks and drinks.
Review 90:I enjoyed staying in a grand old house with a bit of history and modern comforts. The Savoy Park is close to town centre and to the south beach for bracing walk before breakfast. Friendly staff at reception.
Review 91:Hand held shower in first bedroom, moved to second room with proper shower but the smallest cubicle ever!
Review 92:Excellent food and good value, very friendly secure free parking
Review 93:Just bit too far from the Glasgow .... it takes an hour by train
Review 94:Staff was really helpful and, even though there isn't much to do in the area, it's easy to occupy yourself in between walks by the sea and in town!
Review 95:No proper shower in twin room. Mixer tap couldn`t tell what was hot and what was cold as writing worn off. Plenty of hot water so had a bath instead! Changed rooms and next room had walk in shower
Review 96:Gardens beautiful. Breakfast fabulous. Comfy beds. Staff friendly
Review 97:No bad experience
Review 98:Stayed with a group of friends for one night, staff were excellent, rooms clean comfortable and modern. We had dinner for seven of us and had the room to ourselves, food was some of the best I've ever tasted great menu and great prices will definitely go back even for just lunch or dinner.
Review 99:A lift would have made things even better
Review 100:The building itself was attractive and upon arrival a girl immediately appeared to carry our bags. This set the tone for the stay. Nothing was too much trouble. The food too was simple but of excellent quality beautifully served. The room was attractive and tastefully decorated.
Review 101:absolute steal for the price. Ate in the hotel for lunch ,dinner and breakfast as the prices were fantastic and the food quality was superb. staff were so friendly and noting was to much trouble. A real credit to the industry
Review 102:The only complaint is a minor one, the WiFi signal could do with being stronger.
Review 103:From the moment we arrived, we loved everything about the Savoy Park. Our room was large, comfortable, light and airy. Breakfast is mostly self service and the quality of the breakfast items was evident. We would certainly recommend the hotel, and we fully intend to use the Savoy Park again in the future.
Review 104:Quite a small room for the money , huge bathroom, fully tiled so felt cold with large bath but only hand held shower which leaked.
Review 105:Great food. Good variety for breakfast & evening meal was lovely & great value for money.
Review 106:The lack of a lift. Normally not a problem but if you have heavy bags (and we had one) then the hike up to the top floor via a narrow stair is an issue. That said, it is the only negative comment I would make, everything else was fine.
Review 107:Clean and Characteristic Good location with Parking Friendly staff and fresh Breakfast
Review 108:Duty manager not very welcoming or talkative, bar very limited, fruit juice and cereal not upto same quality as hot food.
Review 109:Location is great, plenty parking, room and eating areas clean and tidy, good sized tv in room, nice garden area, 2for1 menu very welcome, cooked breakfast very good.
Review 110:I didn't arrive at the hotel until 10:00pm having been working all day. The restaurant was shut but reception organised food for me which was very welcome. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. If I come to Ayr again I will defiantly stay here.
Review 111:A comfortable and relaxing ambience which made our short stay perfect for our needs. A quiet residential area that was not as near to the racecourse as we thought but on the plus side this proved to be the perfect location.
Review 112:Nice homely feel about the hotel, friendly efficient staff, made one most welcome, good parking for vehicle, access to the centre of Ayr was convenient building had a nice unspoilt charm,
Review 113:Very minor gripe, my room was on the top floor which was a bit of a climb as there's no lift. Large room but no proper shower, only shower attachment in large corner bath without a screen.
Review 114:Restaurant. Excellent choice of d'hôte & a la carte options. Breakfast was freshly cooked. Good value for money.
Review 115:Cobwebs on the ceiling in my room. Dirty windows. Staff not really that friendly. Food was basic for breakfast. Was not offered toast on my first morning. Skylight in the room was made of glass and when it rained during the night, it woke me up. Won't be back am afraid.
Review 116:Location was handy for the town. Free parking.
Review 117:Helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Close to the town centre, but a quiet place with a lovely garden. Very wide-ranging menu at breakfast and dinner
Review 118:The dry cereal spills out over the bowl when you scoop it out, appeared everyone had the same problem and made a mess.l
Review 119:The tranquil atmosphere makes for a relaxing stay. The food is always lovely everytime we have been.
Review 120:We were welcomed with cheerful faces , and a member of staff offered to carry my bag to my room (a little bag) the room was spacious and spotless , very comfortable and welcoming place to be. Would definitely recommend :)
Review 121:All excellent
Review 122:Was welcoming, friendly and helpful - a really nice feel as soon as I walked through the door. I forgot toothpaste and staff soon found me some. A lovely cosy dining room - wood panels and open fires- to eat in, obviously popular with locals too.
Review 123:nothing
Review 124:Lovely warm welcoming hotel. Staff are all welcoming, friendly & helpful. We had Lunch and Breakfast and both were excellent, served in lovely relaxing surroundings. excellent value, and beautiful gardens. Looking forward to going back
Review 125:The room was great but would benefit from double glazing as condensation was causing a pool of water on the inside window sill (room 11)
Review 126:I have stayed here a few times and enjoyed yet another good stay. The two young ladies on reception were of very smart appearance and very friendly-a credit to the hotel.Breakfast was good as usual served with a smile.
Review 127:Nothing was too much hassle for staff very attentive and all facilities great. Went out of there way to have our room ready at 10am as we were arriving early.
Review 128:Very cold corridor on top floor. Single glazing let in a bit of noise and a lot of cold. Heating a bit hit and miss although plumber was called.
Review 129:Staff excellent. Comfy bed. Modernised bathroom. Old world charm in common areas. Good breakfast choices
Review 130:Nothing
Review 131:Stayed before at the hotel. Very clean. Staff very helpful and friendly. Think the hotel is family run which reflects in the good service. No extra charge for room service and it was really good quality. Hotel is close to shops although in quiet area. There was a wedding on one of the nights which the hotel previously advised us of before booking which was fine by us.
Review 132:My neighbour next door who felt the need to shout on his mobilphone while i was trying to sleep.
Review 133:The food was excellent and at a great price (thank you Darren). lovely quiet atmosphere in the bar area.
