Reviews for Aquabella

Review 1:While still affordable, we think it was slightly overpriced. Spa can accommodate comfortably around 8 persons so in busy periods it could become an issue if you don't plan.

Review 2:Great place to spend a weekend. Location is great: right in the city centre with many bars and restaurants and shops, while Aix is a beautiful town. Right next to the Spa facility. Rooms are spacious, clean, quiet. You have free access to the spa all day; which is great. If you want to go somewhere to relax, this is the place. If price was lower, we would be there more often.

Review 3:The spa were unable to fit us in for any treatments so we would recommend booking in advance. Also, breakfast is rather chaotic.

Review 4:The staff were helpful, the room was nice, location was ideal and having spa facilities downstairs was a real plus.

Review 5:The staff at the reception desk could have been friendlier. The employees in the dining area and sauna were really nice and pleasant.

Review 6:Great breakfast. A wonderfully relaxing weekend

Review 7:Parking is a 3 min walk from the hotel. Spa is fine but not good as it is described. Indoor swimming pool didn't work. The last day right near our room repairing works started, it was very disappointing. Air conditioning made a voice but no effect. But it was okay for 108€/day that we paid thanks to seasonal discount and booking.com discount.

Review 8:5 min walk from the historic center. Large rooms. Restaurant. 24/7 reception. Quite a good spa.

Review 9:Air con did not seem to work to cool the room down when it was too warm.

Review 10:Location to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was plentiful at a reasonable price.

Review 11:Hotel room next door had a leak and noise of maintenance personnel at 800am was an annoyance, however the hotel reception sorted the situation to our satisfaction

Review 12:Location was excellent, very close to the old part of town

Review 13:The entry to the spa was through a washroom. Unfortunately it was covered in water and I slipped badly injuring my left knee and arm. In Australia, that is definitely an occupational health & safety issue. A different solution is required immediately.

Review 14:The location

Review 15:- Breakfast extremely expensive, € 17, a rip off, and rather poor. Whilst you're having breakfast, pigeons have a real party at the table next to you, because the tables aren't cleaned fast enough. Which is a rather filthy experience - The spa is pretty overrated. If you don't take all kind of beauty or fitness arrangements, which you need to pay extra, it's actually a whirlpool and a pool. A very nice pool to be honest.

Review 16:- location, right in the centre of the city - nice pool, however no wifi at the pool

Review 17:Just a bit confusing to make your way to the pool area. But so worth it once you figure it out for the first time. Pillows are lumpy.

Review 18:We had such a lovely stay at Aquabella! Great location, lovely & helpful staff, beautiful grounds of the pool & garden area, fancy amenities, quiet & modern rooms, great wifi connection. Loved walking to the spa and the pool area in our white fluffy robes. You didn't feel you are in the city when you are sitting by the pool or having a little picnic in the lounge chairs in the garden but it is so central you can walk many many places! From TGV in Aix-en-Provence station, there is a bus that costs 4.20 euro and takes you to the city bus station in 15-20 minutes. From there, Aquabella is a 20 minute UPHILL walk from the bus station. Cab will cost you 8 euro. Aquabella is well known so anybody can help you get to hotel.

Review 19:The male wait staff in the lobby was not particularly attentive and no one helped me with my bags although I was clearly struggling. The female wait staff were a stark contrast and very helpful and professional.

Review 20:Access to spa and large room with safe

Review 21:great location a very short stroll to the old town, a modern hotel and a great pool, outside barbecue area , happy to consider this a four star. The staff were very accommodating.

Review 22:- spa - to much in-out - pool ... not deep enough for adults to swim decently... more a children's pool - fitness room - poor equipment

Review 23:location is top good value for money

Review 24:Staff attitude during the breakfast. Staff was cleaning up and did not even speak with us, acting like we weren't there.

Review 25:Relaxing atmosphere, location, view from the room

Review 26:The television in the room is not good the bbc1 and bbc 2 channels were not working reception distorted picture distorted impossible to view You do need new sets with Sky news as well

Review 27:The pool is magnificent we enjoyed our whole stay it's our second year!

Review 28:The staff was incredibly helpful and lovely. The spa was fantastic with many treatment options.. L'Orangerie Restaurant has some of the best food in Aix.

Review 29:I was disappointed that it was difficult to swim properly in the pool as it was too shallow at one end to do laps and too busy to swim width wise. It would be helpful if there were maybe a couple more parasols by the pool also.

Review 30:The location was great.

Review 31:Very good location, nice pool and garden. Very close to the cityattractions. Nice spa, next time I will spent more time using theSextius thermes incorporated into the hotel.

Review 32:Didn't get time to use all the spa facilities but it would have been great to have had someone explain what was available to guests.

Review 33:Very comfy bed and quiet room in a great location.

Review 34:Back of hotel and room balcony disappointing- rather dirty with pigeon problem! Paying for parking, although reduced rate.

Review 35:Very convenient for walking around Aix, restaurants, markets, museums, cafes etc. Good pool and spa facilities. Friendly staff and well cleaned rooms.

Review 36:The breakfast and dinner at the hotel's restaurant were not worth the money. There are plenty of great restaurants in town-worth the walk. Also-the hotel is quote stingy with towels both in the room and at the pool. You have to search and ask.

Review 37:The pool and spa were a delight.

Review 38:We loved the beautiful pool and spa. Staff was friendly and helpful. When we checked in they automatically upgraded us to a larger room with a balcony. Decor was lovely, bed was large and very comfortable and bathroom was clean and spacious. Location was excellent in the old city, near many restaurants, shops and sites.

Review 39:Rooms could have been better for 4 star. Breakfast a bit chaotic but very good choice and variety.

Review 40:Beautiful garden and pool. Restaurant and outside bar area were both very pleasant areas to sit. Atmosphere in external areas very pleasant.

Review 41:Location near to the Opera we were attending. Good food in great poolside location, great air-conditioned room with balcony looking over roofs to hills beyond. Easy nearby carparking

Review 42:spa, especially the sauna and the steam bath could be better, and why dressed ? I personally don't feel good with a swimsuit on in a sauna ? ı would go to the open pool if i were to wear a swimsuit. wifi works ok in the hotel but out of reach in the restaurant and in the pool area.

Review 43:service is fast and good. breakfast could be better, not more like a 3 star hotel breakfast but like a 4 star one. pool is good. could be little deeper.

Review 44:The city center is close by and after a hot day you can take a dip in the pool. Perfect! Lot's of restaurant options at a short walking distance. Would stay again.

Review 45:The spa allows local day trippers to the hotel pool which creates chaos and overcrowding. No pool lounges available. Pool filled with dozens of people. Locals with diaper laden babies swimming amongst the hotel guests. If you are from Aix and don't have a pool then this is your best bet to beat the heatwave. Also booking.com said my room was available for checkin at 3pm. Arrived 315pm. No room available. Hotel staff were not able to confirm when room was available. Spoke to manager who put us in the elevator room which was very dingy and dark.

Review 46:The location was great

Review 47:Shower had great pressure but the craziest wand/shower head I have ever used in any hotel. They should supply more towels so you can dry the floor and walls after you use it. The room is very basic, sterile nothing to make you say wow. Three star room.

Review 48:Proximity to Old City. Pool was very nice, spa was excellent.

Review 49:Friendly staff, spacious property close to restaurants and shopping area. Could walk to all the main tourist attractions. Went for a swim in their fantastic outside pool and enjoyed sitting around the pool in a lovely setting.

Review 50:Some loud people on the street late at night.

Review 51:Very comfortable beds and great bathroom. The staff were very friendly and checked us in without any delay. Just a couple of minutes walk to the old town.

Review 52:The WIFI was hit and miss - sometimes you had access to it other times it wasn't available

Review 53:The hotel upgraded us so that was great. Staff were friendly and helpful. We got a discount for parking at their nearby car park. Easy to walk to the city centre and lovely to relax by the pool.

Review 54:The internet was only reliable in the lobby.

Review 55:The room was comfortable, the spa facilities fantastic, and breakfast is in such a lovely location with plenty to choose from. Very efficient system.

Review 56:WiFi was bad and then down completely. Some oddities, you need to call to have your mini fridge unlocked, the phone does not have a front desk icon so we had to find a cleaning person for the extension.

Review 57:Being able to walk to the center of Aix was great! Really enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Room was nice although small, good selection of channels (with some in English). Bathroom was large and updated.

Review 58:Poor Wi-Fi and hotel restaurant has a limited and expensive menu. Breakfast very expensive.

Review 59:Excellent pool and outdoor dining area. Comfortable rooms that are well appointed with Provençal furniture.

Review 60:Room was small, considering it's a 4 stars hotel with SPA, I was expecting a more spacious room. Bathroom was also tiny with a shower flooding the floor.

Review 61:Location is perfect. we could walk everywhere. it's in a quiet area, which was a plus. We did not have time to enjoy all the facilities they describe in the hotel webpage. Overall an OK experience

Review 62:Our room was a bit tired and had a strong smell of tobacco even though it was a non smoking room.

Review 63:We enjoyed the outdoor pool and area, and the spa is second to none.

Review 64:breakfast: - knife could not cut the bread > please better knife - bread was not fresh > please real fresh French baguette - spa-facilities: to little number of showers

Review 65:We enjoyed the time we spend near the outside swimming pool.

Review 66:Not much to grumble about although i was surprised there was No free water in room or a kettle Air conditioning is not available until May and this was April and my room was boiling hot

Review 67:The food was great Staff friendly and helpful Good location for the towm Spa facilities were also a bonus

Review 68:Hallways in the hotels were fine but did not match the quality of the rooms and other facilities.

Review 69:Tiny but high quality gym equipment. Room was extremely clean, newly renovated, and very comfortable and large. Access to the spa was wonderful and relaxing. I would recommend to any one!!

Review 70:Tricky to access by car but OK once you know the way.

Review 71:Excellent location for town facilities and restaurants. Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Generally all good.

Review 72:the style of the hotel is not very pretty, bit without character - also breakfast is not special- there is good buffet, but nothing cosy

Review 73:central location, rooms are fine and you can use the spa

Review 74:It is a nice hotel situated in the city centre and with good spa facilities which we did not have a chance to use. It has own car park for which you need to pay 12 euros for a night. We did not eat breakfast since it was too expensive in our opinion. Overall nice hotel but overpriced

Review 75:Everything was perfect - from the mattress to the performance in the restaurant, wonderfull cuisine and wines. Outstanding service, parking garage (absolutely necessary in Aix), a perfect location 5 minutes from the old city. Really 4 stars in France!

Review 76:Nice, spacious rooms, with great view of the ruins and pool area, and of the town beyond. Good spa and sauna areas as well. Perfect 3 nights spent during a holiday rendezvous with a friend.

Review 77:Duvet on bed was too hot at night and air con not functioning fully (autumn). No tea making facilities if not superior room but they will provide if you ask. Poor wi-fi reception in room.

Review 78:Excellent location for walking into town (good restaurants close by) but tricky to find first time by car, but they have parking. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff.

Review 79:Not exactly a dislike, but check the bill because they assumed I had breakfast and charged for them, a small mistake that was immediately corrected, notnetheless avoidable.

Review 80:Excellent location in Aix, inside the historical downtown. Staff was very corteous and friendly. The restaurant is a good choice if you want to stay in and avoid the crowded places. The room is good, clean and cozy, but must have the ones on the 4th floor with a balcony and great view of the city.

Review 81:Although the spa was inside the hotel, it was run seperately and it was very difficult to contact the staff to book treatments. No towels provided for outside pool. No clear information how to use spa facilities. Wifi connection awful in bedroom, ok in reception area. No private parking, public car park nearby.

Review 82:The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. Very good location for walking around Aix en Provence. Spa facilities good when we managed to work out what was available.

Review 83:The breakfast could have been a bit less like a cheap chain hotel breakfast. I know they are trying to meet the needs of lotsof different kinds of users but it felt like it could have been anywhere in the world. More local produce would have been good.

Review 84:Really lovely room in slighly funky hotel with a mixture of old and new. Really lovely pool (especially with a glass of ice cold rose wine delivered by the waiter). Really lovely city. Just great really, I'd come again.

Review 85:Guest access to spa was confusing and though unmarked doors and dingy corridors. Water glasses in room were standard plastic cups - not expected from a 4* hotel. Breakfast expensive for what it was

Review 86:Friendly staff. Excellent location- spa quiet and clean

Review 87:Very, very hard to get to or even find. The GPS was the only way to find it, and that was through a maize of one way, very narrow poorly marked streets filled with people that did not want to move for your car. One turn was so sharp that nobody could make it without backing up at least once. SPA staff was very poor and not friendly. Our bed was poor and we kept rolling into the middle all night.

Review 88:Location was very good in the old city. Pool and Spa were very nice Front desk staff were very nice.

Review 89:The whole hotel experience was great for us. The room was stylish, bright, clean and comfortable. The pool was gorgeous and we enjoyed the restaurant. The staff were friendly, pleasant and helpful. We hope to return to the Aquabella.

Review 90:I imagined myself from the pictures a small boutique hotel and it was actually very big..little bit expensive

Review 91:The room was nice, the pool was pretty and also the spa. Staff were very nice and . helped in every question . There is an arrangement with parking next to the hotel in 12 euro

Review 92:Nothing not to like except maybe the cost of breakfast.... Fabulous location yet quiet and peaceful. Very comfy beds. Rooms air conditioned so nice and cool.

Review 93:This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. Once again, we arrived at the hotel and our room was not ready. Quite irritating after a long journey! Restaurant expensive and bar took far too long with drinks. It seemed a bit understaffed.

Review 94:Pool and amenities were stunning. Brilliant location for exploring Aix.

Review 95:The attitude of the staff us very unhelpful. There were several problems with the room and the staff took 24 hours to address them. The air conditioning did not work and the door lock was broken. The Spa staff were very unfriendly and we were told that it was impossible to have a spa treatment if we had not booked weeks in advance.

Review 96:The location is great, as it is very close to the center of town. It is a short walk to restaurants and markets. The outdoor pool is very nice too.

Review 97:Buffet lunch was embarrassingly pricey by far. France once again shows its complete disconnection with fair pricing reality and rips people off unashamedly. Sadly Aquabella is no exception.

Review 98:Very comfortable bed in 4th floor room overlooking the rooftops of Aix; especially attractive as the sun set. The beautiful main street is but a short walk through an immensely characterful city. Paris without the noise. Well worth a visit.

Review 99:Bed was horrible, like you sleeping on the ground Stupid restaurant timeing, I mean if u hungry from 5 pm until 7.30 pm and after 10.30 pm until 6 am, u could not find nothing to eat in the hotel because was everything close. You should walk 15 min and if you were luck maybe you find something. Also when the restaurant is open all the smell and the smoke of the kitchen it enter in our room, first we thought was fire but than they say that "is normal".

Review 100:Spa

Review 101:The directions map provided by booking.com- took us ages to find the place. Music played on the terrace.

Review 102:Most things-the outdoor pool and gardens, the room and view from our balcony. Location was handy for some good eating out and also for bus station- easy trip to Marseilles

Review 103:Having to resign up to wifi is frustrating.

Review 104:Great location, having the pool and spa as an option in the Summer is fantastic, good facilities, great view out the window and loved having a balcony! Room very pretty and good tea and coffee making facilities.

Review 105:The hammam needs to have showers and better signage. On the Sunday I think there were too many non-guests for the brunch spa offer. They wandered around lost and made a bit of a mess of the hammam. The pool side staff were also impossible to find and the drinks took a long time to arrive.

Review 106:The hammam and outdoor pool were fabulous and we took full advantage. The outdoor terrace and breakfast were also wonderful. The staff were very kind and helpful.

Review 107:Weddings on the terrace next to our room, guest were drunk and disorderly till 5:00 am in the morning... No sleep!! When told management there was no compensation :(

Review 108:Mostly all

Review 109:The hotel is very conveniently located at the edge of the old town so easily accessible by car. Apart form this it is located next to a Thermes Sextius which was a nice discovery for me. I had a nice massage but make sure to book treatments in advance as there is not much availibility.

Review 110:Balcony could have been bit more up to date Deck chairs bit "tired" on balcony Towels just adequate in terms of comfort (could have been thicker)

Review 111:Staff Room Swimming pool Location

Review 112:Nothing. Difficult to find by car first time but OK thereafter.

Review 113:Excellent location, close to town centre restaurants etc. Garage parking very close and free to residents. Very helpful staff, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Will come again with my wife (spa!).

Review 114:Not much atmosphere in the bar area. A little too expensive for a 3 star hotel.

Review 115:Vert modern, excellent location, nice comfortable rooms and lovely pool & SPA.

Review 116:There was no electric kettle for coffee or tea in the room. Restaurant was deserted at dinner and pricey, which deterred us from dining on the premises.

Review 117:Elegant room and comfortable lobby. Loved set up of coffee and tea for early risers and full breakfast on beautiful patio. Grounds and pool were gorgeous, framed by last remnant of ancient city wall. Easy walk into the center of town and various squares surrounded by restaurants and shops, although not recommended for those who aren't up to walking steep narrow roads. Had time permitted,we would have taken advantage of beautiful pool.

Review 118:No hot water supply from 9pm-12pm after we check-in the hotel. Wifi was out of order.

Review 119:In the centre of Aix-en-Provence that you can visit most if the visiting spots of the town by foot. Very good size of swimming pool. Room size is good.

Review 120:parking arrangements SPA

Review 121:Room.

Review 122:Spa was a little disappointing as it was vast but little to do. No swimming pool:(

Review 123:Reasonable size room and large bed

Review 124:Some dust in the corners of the room

Review 125:Very loud at night, bar right next door and can hear every word spoken... and shouted.

Review 126:Very friendly staff and great location.

Review 127:location good breakfast buffet polite and friendly staff

Review 128:Lack of possibility to swim.

Review 129:All was superb. Spoil yourselves.

Review 130:Proximity to the whole city. No need for your car. Parking 50mtrs fromhotel and not expensive. Lovely staff.

Review 131:Location, spa, view from balcony

Review 132:The hotel is quite old. We have even seen a mouse running around on the third floor.

Review 133:Location is convenient.
