Reviews for The Bridge Inn

Review 1:I had the room on the front which overlooks the road. I sleep OK but couple of trucks rumbled past in the night. Also venetian blind doesn't completely block out the passing lights - Again no issue for me but if you're a light sleeper or like pitch black then other rooms may be better.

Review 2:Gareth and Amanda very welcoming. Nice room with everything I needed including decent wifi. Not far to venture for a pint (downstairs). Breakfast is cereal/croissant/muffin combination available in the room with plenty of fresh milk, fruit juice and tea and coffee. Shower was clean and the water hot. If I need to stay near Abergavenny again - then I will definitely stay here.

Review 3:Unfortunately the road at the front of the property is very busy especially in peak hours. Double glazing means that the traffic noise does not intrude but you have to be selective if you want to have a window open. It did not ruin our stay by any means.

Review 4:Our hosts were very attentive. The room was a good size and we were very comfortable. The bathroom was clean with a good shower. We were able to walk to the centre of town and there was off street parking available for those who are travelling by car.

Review 5:Cooked breakfast not provided. Shower unit leaked, sink leaked. Some areas not clean enough. Next to main road so it was noisy quite early.

Review 6:Staff member was very friendly. Nice location close to river, lovely walk into town.

Review 7:Staff really didn't go out of their way in terms of welcome/ interaction. Room overlooked main road...not good, as busy more or less all the time. Parking was a problem too as there are limited parking areas on both sides of the pub. I had to use main road to park for both nights. Continental breakfast is a basket of items in your room and there is limited tabletop facilities to have breakfast. Free Wifi??? Didn't work. I was disappointed after reading the reviews that stated how fabulous the owner/ staff were and how cooked breakfasts had been offered etc when I wasn't made to feel that way. In fact I felt like my stay was an incumberence.

Review 8:Room was clean and tidy. Location was good. A separate entrance for the accommodation.

Review 9:Husband and dog were at home!

Review 10:Beautiful view over the River Usk. Chose room with double bed as the other overlooking the river is a twin. Spacious, airy room with all you need for a night's stay. Very friendly management. Loved continental style breakfast in the bedroom. Lots of privacy. I've stayed in just about every hotel in Abergavenny and this suits me perfectly.

Review 11:The Bridge Inn is conveniently located. Our room was lovely with a lovely continental breakfast already in the room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Review 12:Spoilt by the noise - the bedrooms are directly above the bar. The first night was a live music/open microphone night and it didn't stop until 12.45. 2nd night was better but still just after 11 before all was quite. 3rd night was fine but then 8.00 am Sunday morning music started up in the bar ...

Review 13:Within walking distance of the centre of Abergavenny. Friendly, helpful staff & serving good value pub food with an excellent selection of real ales. Plenty of space in the bedroom with good quality, well maintained furtniture, etc

Review 14:noisy and open yoghurt in fridge window left fractionally open.. it looked closed if we had realised we would have shut it properly and maybe it wouldn't have been so noisy

Review 15:Lovely friendly staff, good meal in pub that evening breakfast ok would stay again in room not close to road

Review 16:Nothing. All was great!

Review 17:The deluxe double room was lovely, and we really enjoyed the breakfast which was provided in the room (croissants, muffins, and a selection of cereals). The room itself was lovely and spacious, and was obviously refurbished quite recently. The pub downstairs was also great, with friendly staff and locals, and had a great selection of beers.

Review 18:Lovely little family run Inn in a beautiful location. The owners are very friendly and helpful giving us lots of advice on best places to see around. Room was cosy and very clean, central heating on and hot water ...toiletries, generous continental breakfast...but we still went later on for a full English and it was well worth it. We also had dinner there and the steak was amazing!!! We will definitely go back and highly recommend it !

Review 19:very busy road outside.

Review 20:a nice place for a short stop over, the breakfast comes in a basket in your room and is fine.there is a nice pub downstairs with plesant staff who need to be more focused on service.

Review 21:The staff were excellent in the bar. They have us loads of tips and advice. Food was lovely as well. Breakfast was in the room which was really handy.

Review 22:Bed a bit too springy for us, but then, we are used to a futon.

Review 23:Great welcome, clean and bright room with everything you could wish for - including decent coffee:>) Lovely pub and great food. And so close to the River Usk with lovely walks.

Review 24:Nice room, but traffic noise was a bit of an issue even with windows closed (room 2) - wouldn't want to stay on a warm night with the windows open! "Secure bike storage" was just leaving the bikes outside between too sheds with only a locked gate protecting them..

Review 25:Very friendly and helpful staff, warm welcome, nice room. Continental breakfast in the room was nice and plentiful & meant no rushing around in the mornings. Good location for what we wanted to do

Review 26:Emergency lighting was quite bright so room was never properly dark. Not used to sleeping in a single so bed felt a bit small. Nevertheless I will stay here again.

Review 27:Twin room overlooked the River Usk which was lovely. The rooms have a separate entrance and you have a buffet breakfast in your room. I liked this as I could have breakfast privately before getting into my business clothes and I didn't have to have someone else wait on me! Very clean and modern. The staff were very welcoming and though there was an open mike event going on, this couldn't be heard from the bedroom.

Review 28:We had asked for twin beds but we're given a small double that faced right onto a very busy road with very heavy traffic from early morning until very late night.

Review 29:The food and the atmosphere of the pub was very pleasant, however the "continemtal" breakfast was all packaged from instant coffee to cellophaned muffins made to last forever left in a basket in our room.

Review 30:The breakfast is provided as a basket of food in the room. This is fine, however over the course of a three day stay, the quality was variable in terms of freshness of the croissants, and on the final day, we received the same flavours of juice, yoghurt and four bottles of sparkling water, with no still water. This isn't a big deal, but they need to watch these little things. Personally, I'd prefer some fruit instead of a sweet muffin (which I don't consider breakfast food).

Review 31:The rooms are clean, new and spacious. There is a separate entrance to the rooms, so you don't have to walk through the pub for access. We stayed for three nights (including a Friday), and had no problems with noise from the pub. The owners and staff in the pub were friendly, and we could eat our evening meal there if we chose. The location was okay, about 10-15 minutes walk into the town centre via a path next to the river.

Review 32:There were lots of spiders if you opened your windows. Not the Inn's fault (it's nice being near nature), but may want to leave the windows shut.

Review 33:Very nice, cozy room -- recently updated and nicely decorated. Pub downstairs had good food and was lively as locals stopped in during the evenings.

Review 34:The bed was extremely uncomfortable and I ended up trying to sleep on the floor. Having said that, I'm an very light sleeper so that's probably the issue.

Review 35:The room was lovely, clean and well presented. We knew about the noise of the traffic from previous reviews but actually it wasn't anywhere near as bad as they made out. Breakfast was fantastic - lovely to have it in bed whilst planning our trip up Sugar Loaf.

Review 36:Not that anything can be done about it, but the room by the road has a bit of road noise.

Review 37:Staff were very welcoming and easy to chat to. Great location to tour the region. Good food in the pub and good atmosphere., all the locals were great value Room was clean and tidy. Nice continental breakfast offered in room. Would stay again.

Review 38:Next time would like a room at the back, road is a bit noisy! But a minor detail all in all.

Review 39:Proper coffee in the room, a great idea to have the breakfast all ready and the little fridge stocked with juice, yogurt etc.

Review 40:room was very hot and had very loud road noise in room number 2 , and this was constant all night long. En suite was very small no bath shower only

Review 41:Lovely clean room

Review 42:Great place on banks of the river ,just didn't realise water was so loud!Even so very comfy room.A fridge provided and ample tea coffee milk and breakfast basket.Own access at all hours and very friendly staff.Excellent food in Inn at v.reasonable cost, very flexible to provide food.V.centrally located so all on south coast easily accessed in a day.

Review 43:Nil

Review 44:Good pub with excellent meals. Used the inn as a base to avoid the camping option at Green man. With the use of free shuttle buses and service buses it proved a good value choice. A taxi late at night cost between £22-25 back from the site. Rooms well cleaned and continental style breakfast in your room each morning was fine. A 15minute walk will take you to centre of Abergavenny or train station for transport links or visiting sites.

Review 45:Nothing much. bit of traffic noise if I'm being picky.

Review 46:Lovely room, great view (room 3) nice staff, fast wifi, clean, comfortable, in room continental breakfast, lovely location, easy walk into town.

Review 47:Road noise in front rooms. Needed a bit of refurbishment, but not major.

Review 48:Village pub atmosphere, Very friendly hosts, great Thai meal available on the Sunday we stayed. Reasonable location near village. Nice outdoor area at rear.

Review 49:Room 1 very noisy on bend on main road - could not have the window open - fridge very noisy. Breakfast in room with day old croissants - no tray - one stool and one bedside locker only made eating/drinking difficult - not to be recommended.

Review 50:Breakfast was in a basket in the room. it was there when we arrived - right next to the bathroom which was not good. Did not expect a DIY breakfast. Didn't like it being in the room all the time right next to a busy noisy road.

Review 51:Bar staff (check-in is at the bar) not welcoming. Secure bike store was not at all secure (nor dry)... outside next to a shed with the only security a cheap padlock on a timber gate anyone could hop over. In an area like this, renowned for cycling, you will get many cyclists with very expensive bikes and this is not sufficient and on this basis alone I would not return. Road noise for the bedroom at front was bad. Noise in room overlooking river was fine! And the temperature was ridiculously hot (and in Wales!!). There is a velux window on the landing.. but so high as to be no way to open it.. it needs a pole, or a ladder, or an electrical mechanism to allow guests to open it and the heat problem would probably be sorted.

Review 52:The bedrooms were good considering the price paid. The pub/bar/garden was not great or welcoming but the rooms were modern, clean with good facilities and nice clean bathrooms.

Review 53:Not sure about the breakfast in the room, I can see why it's easier since coming down to do breakfast would be a pain after closing the pub late the previous evening. Eating in the room probably stopped us from eating too much so a positive there! The fan from the kitchen was under the window so a bit 'chippy' at times but not a major problem.

Review 54:A good friendly local pub with decent beer and a bit of atmosphere, the room was well-appointed and the bed was very comfortable,it looked like the room had been recently refurbished. Nice view over the river + meadows from room 4.The room had a 'fridge + kettle. Food from the pub kitchen was varied and well prepared. Several of the bike routes we wanted to use started not far away.

Review 55:Hadn't realised that it was situated on a link road between Abergavenny and the heads of the valley's road and was woken up each morn at approx. 4.30 by heavy lorries passing the window.

Review 56:Very friendly and accommodating. Very clean and comfortable. Good pub food. The continental breakfast suited us because of our early start.

Review 57:Noisy front room. Breakfast was supplied the night before in the bedroom. When we booked this wasn't made clear. We would have preferred fresh things and not to have to have breakfast in the bedroom.

Review 58:Good location for where we wanted to visit. Good food in bar.

Review 59:The staff couldn't do enough for you they were friendly and welcoming! We dined at there our first night and the pie was awesome! The bed was so comfortable just what I need before a day of Mud Racing! I will defiantly be returning here!

Review 60:no one sort to let us know there were no evening meals during our stay.

Review 61:Beautiful views from room. Big thank you to bar staff for directing us to near buy pub.(would not of found it without your help).

Review 62:The continental breakfast in the room was a lovely surprise, wanted a leisurely stay, It was great not have to set the alarm for breakfast, just woke up naturally, and had breakfast in bed. Brill..

Review 63:Lovely cosy pub downstairs and the field opposite next to the river where u could walk to Abergavenny as if you were on a country walk. No sign of houses just woods and fields

Review 64:Main road outside very noisey, breakfast was "continental" in the room, very poor, purchased my own from supermarket across the road

Review 65:Staff friendly and helpful. Nice room.

Review 66:1.The room was over the road and we had traffic noise all night. (Not good)2.I did ask to move on arrival but told that they were fully booked. 3 We book the room six months ago?

Review 67:Staff and the Dinner

Review 68:Impossible to find anything we didn't like.

Review 69:Where do we start: the people were helpful, gracious, generous; they were perfect hosts. The rooms were comfy, bright and warm; the beds were de-lightful. The food was good and the inn was lively. Just the most wonderful place to spend a week.

Review 70:I liked having a pre-packed breakfast in the room, but it would be better to find something to replace the croissants wrapped in cling film as croissants are always better eaten on the same day as baked.

Review 71:The layout in our room gave us a great view of the bridge, river, meadow and across to the town.

Review 72:It is located near a busy street and it was very (very) noisy all night!Maybe fine for a heavy sleeper or if you bring your earplugs. The coldbreakfast is left in the room for self service, that's not too badbut they forgot to give us milk for the second day so we couldnt haveour cereal.

Review 73:The service was great,we felt very welcome. The hotel rooms look greatand are very clean. It's nicely located by the river but very closeto the town and there are plenty of nice walks near by. The Thai foodthey were serving at their pub downstairs was delicious and at a verygood price.

Review 74:Difficult to find initially with the sat-nav.

Review 75:Great views. Lovely rooms. Friendly staff. Really nice bathrooms Breakfast was as advertised and this meant also meant there was a small fridge and fresh milk

Review 76:Continental breakfast in my room was disappointing.

Review 77:Evening food was exceptionally good. Location on the river was beautiful Room facilities very good

Review 78:We immediately felt very welcome at The Bridge Inn, the staff were very friendly! The room was lovely and although attached to the pub (also handy for a drink and had brilliant food), the rooms were slightly separate which was nice for the peace and quiet. The room overlooked the river with a lovely view! Great place to stay!

Review 79:Our mistake - didn't realise we had to settle the bill the evening before check out. We therefore struggled to pay, as there was no-one about to take our money on departure (which was 90 mins before the inn opened).

Review 80:The bar was really friendly, and the bar food excellent! The room was very luxurious and superb value for money.

Review 81:Could not fill up the kettle in the sink. With food should focus on quality over quantity. Breakfast basket was all prepackaged high sugar over preserved foods.

Review 82:Clean room with nice furniture and a good view.

Review 83:Leaving.

Review 84:The owners were so friendly and welcoming. The location was just superb and the outside family and dog friendly area was so relaxing, we wished we could have stayed longer. Just wonderful!

Review 85:Walking into the bar full of men drinking. the access to the rooms could be more attractive and poor lighting. The road noise, as right on a very busy road

Review 86:the room was spacious, clean and comfortable

Review 87:Staff and management could not help us enough. Food was excellent and Gareth (chef) made a point of visiting us during our meal to say 'Hello'. Great for dog owners too; plenty of space at the nearby riverside to let them stretch their legs and they can also sit with you while you eat in the pub. We stayed for just one night to break a journey but The Bridge Inn would also be perfect for a weekend to allow you to easy access to the Brecon Beacons etc. We had to leave very early in the morning but this was no problem as the continental breakfast was already in the room so we didn't miss breakfast!

Review 88:As our room was on the road there was a lot of traffic noise, and also we had problems with locking our door so was unlocked all times

Review 89:The accommodation Was quite central, the room was very clean and modern, would have like a small table and chairs to eat our breakfast, but wasn't a major problem,we had a lunch there which was very nice, very friendly staff, would go back

Review 90:Room was stiflingly hot and opening the windows was not an option because of traffic noise. Room overlooked a very busy road. Breakfast is in the room.

Review 91:Super room. Clean, well furnished and spacious. Run by a very freindly nd helpful crew.

Review 92:Next to a busy road? Bed was hard but assured new mattress was on order. Shame cooked breakfast not available. Would be nice to have hot chocolate to go with croissants.

Review 93:Room size was spacious. Shower nice and powerful. Owners friendly. Huge flat screen tv. Fridge in room with water, juice, yogurt, butter and fresh milk!

Review 94:Continental breakfast in the room is basically OK, but the instant coffee was hard to swallow (literally and figuratively!). Couldn't figure out how to turn on the shower and found no instructions.

Review 95:Very nice room with view of the town, which is a pleasant walk away. Friendly and helpful staff and eating in the pub below is great for avoiding a DUI conviction.

Review 96:Very hard and unforgiving mattress base. Failed washbasin stopper, and missing cover to shower control: shower-head would not stay in fixed position on rail. Small car park.

Review 97:People, place, food, drink, convenience, views, walks, dogs.

Review 98:Don't go in waitrose for food

Review 99:Staff, room, food and location all incredible! Couldn't ask for more! There's a ? In the free wifi but as I don't remember if either of us used it at all

Review 100:The friendliness of the staff. Gareth was really helpful to us. The food was excellent. Liked the breakfast in the room as we didn't have much time in the mornings. We will be back soon.

Review 101:The accommodation exceeded my expectation in style and quality shower room. Then there was the bay window with a river view Breakfast in room works well.

Review 102:not too keen on the pre-pack croissant or muffin - but Waitrose is nearby or just bring your own !

Review 103:fridge with fresh milk for coffee and breakfast cereals

Review 104:Lovely room, well presented & very clean. We were so impressed we decided to book another night. Gareth & Amanda made us feel very welcome. Food in the bar was cooked fresh and very reasonably priced. It was worth a visit just to meet the adorable Dylan dog. We will definitely be returning.First class accommodation, with first class customer service.A great stay.

Review 105:unfortunately down stairs had an open mic evening so very noisy till the pub shut, would have been nice to have a breakfast but non are available

Review 106:The room was excellent owners very nice

Review 107:Everything was great, very clean room, nice service, and tasty breakfast. We totally recommend!

Review 108:Shame there's no cooked breakfast in the morning.

Review 109:Great location and the pub next door was good.

Review 110:Nothing

Review 111:Friendly owners. Had dinner at the pub/restaurant below. Nice atmosphere. Great for a night stop over.

Review 112:Traffic can be noisy at front of hotel but we did not mind this

Review 113:Clean tidy and very welcoming good location for what we required

Review 114:Busy road outside

Review 115:Dog friendly pub with rooms. Excellent dog walking field opposite, favoured by visitors and locals.

Review 116:Warm welcome, staff really friendly. Clean warm, well equipped room.

Review 117:The rooms were very clean and comfortable with a nice view of the river.

Review 118:Very friendly staff, very comfortable room and good value for money

Review 119:Staff were less than polite as we were not locals

Review 120:Nice clean and comfy rooms

Review 121:Very noisy from traffic. DIY breakfast in room from packets! Paying on arrival. Owner not on site.

Review 122:Proximity to the town

Review 123:fantastic room with a continental breakfast basket and FILTER COFFEE. warm welcome with a friendly atmosphere

Review 124:Our visit clashed with your dsco which went on to 1.45am We didn't realise it would go on that long.

Review 125:The view of the river was pefect

Review 126:Very noisy from traffic, reception in bar, dingy entrance, continental breakfast was poor

Review 127:Size of the room was good, comfortable,

Review 128:Walking distance to town and free parking space. Pub downstairs warm ambience and good meals.

Review 129:No mattress protector.

Review 130:the view from room 3 was lovely, nice having the continental breakfast ready in the room and fresh milk in the small fridge.
