Reviews for Best Hotel Sancé - Mâcon

Review 1:The room was dirty and one small single towel each was supplied, it stunk of smoke though we asked for a room free smoke. Will not use this facility again.

Review 2:Location. Not near the main town at all, actually in a semi-industrial sort of area. Although it was ideally placed for taking the Route du Soleil south the next day.

Review 3:Obliging proprietor, who made tea and coffee for us in the lounge area, since there were not such facilities in our room. Perfectly nice breakfast.

Review 4:Wifi didn't work in room, TV was mounted so high up on the wall you couldn't watch it unless standing on the bed, window clearly hasn't been cleaned, paper thin walls.

Review 5:It was cheap, provided shower gel and a bar of soap, also provided two towels.

Review 6:Good place for a stop over on route from Spain to France. Good location close to Macon centre. We have a dog and that is no problem as there are lovely walks close by. Fast food restaurants a short walk away. We had breakfast which was good value. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room very quiet and clean albeit a little tired, but very adequate for a quick overnight stay.

Review 7:Smallest bathroom I have ever seen!! Other than that, it was ok.No personality and definitely not a 'real french experienceof any note.

Review 8:Ease of parking. Comfortable bed. Location fine as we had a car butdon't think you could stay here without transport. Very small butfunctional room and bathroom. Okay for 1 night as somewhere to restyour head.

Review 9:There were in fact no negative points. The hotel was a bit old fashion. But everything was OK.

Review 10:The man at the reception did remind me at Basil Fawlty. He was friendly, and was doing almost everything. When we arrived he was working in the garden, later he was receptionist, later he was waiter in the restaurant ans was helping the cook. The hotel was low in cost and therefor the ratio quality versus cost was high.

Review 11:This is a motel not a hotel; no easy public transportation and far from both train stations. Wifi unreliable. No maps of the area or downtown Macon. Think top line Motel 6.

Review 12:Good maids and decent breakfast buffet. If you have a car is ok.

Review 13:Location: Situated amongst several car dealerships and next to major rail link. Security: The car park and part of the hotel are surrounded by fairly high fencing, with large steel gates which after hours are controlled by key pads, as is access to hotel. One has to ask WHY? Hotel: The room was extremely small and clastraphobic. Albeit the bathroom was quite newly installed, the rest of the room was tired and dirty. The window in particular, had dead insects on the ledge and the frame had never been cleaned, it was thick with dirt. The bed was very uncomfortable and I left with numerous insect bites. The electric sockets were so old, UK adaptors did not work and sockets were not fixed to the wall. Breakfast selection was ok, although the surfaces were disgusting, as was the cleanliness of the dining room. The method of cleaning tables was a handheld vacuum ?? Yes this was a cheap 1 night stay, but I have slept in better and cleaner war zones !!!

Review 14:Not very posh but adequate

Review 15:Great location for North/South travel. Dog friendly but do charge. Cheap eats nearby. 4th time of using this venue so that speaks volumes.

Review 16:The railway line The feeling of being in some kind of secure compound away from normal social interaction The very small window with no view

Review 17:Manager did his best to be welcoming Breakfast was OK

Review 18:The breakfast is very good value for money compared with many other hotels

Review 19:Overpriced, not great location if you want to walk anywhere

Review 20:Swimming pool

Review 30:It was perfect for our needs (driving to Spain).

Review 38:Staff, cleanliness,comfortable bed,breakfast, secure carpark.

Review 39:The courtesy of the proprietors

Review 40:Would have appreciated kettle In room

Review 41:Staff great very helpful central venue

Review 42:Value for money. Good location. Excellent breakfast. Swimming pool brilliant. Welcoming environment. Large private car park.

Review 43:Location

Review 44:A little to far out of town

Review 45:Clean hotel, friendly staffA

Review 46:Everything Wi fi Location Bar And would never stay in Macon as nothing there .

Review 47:Nothing very poor , wi fi was rubbish and needed it for work emails

Review 48:The hotel advertised a restaurant but when we arrived it was closed and we had to go find somewhere to eat which was disappointing There was black mould on the bathroom and bedroom ceiling The en suite was tiny and shower not enclosed so water leaked all over the floor

Review 49:Easy access from motorway

Review 50:No restaurant available that evening so had to go out looking, for somewhere, we were tired after long journey so it was not what we wanted to do.

Review 51:Secure parking, good location for our journey

Review 52:Helpful staff. Easy to find. Small basic rooms but very comfortable and clean. Good breakfast. Excellent value for money for an overnight stop.

Review 53:This is an excellent budget motorway stop. The standard of cleanliness is very high and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was delicious.

Review 54:Restaurant was closed without warning. It was one of the reasons wechose the hotel! We had been driving for hours and there was onlyfairly nasty chain food within walking distance. Also it was notpossible to recharge mobile phones because all the sockets in the hotelhad been fitted with an extra pin to prevent any non converted plugattaching. This is not helpful for those on long journeys and/orbusiness trips.

Review 55:Good breakfast. Good size of pool.

Review 56:Best Hotel is a basic hotel and to be honest we weren't expecting much from the attached restaurant but we had a fine meal there. The staff were very welcoming and friendly which made for a great overnight stay.

Review 57:Wifi was a waste of time. Poor signal in room. Better signal in reception but unable to connect.

Review 58:Good value for money. New attractive bathroom installed. Some decent places to eat nearby. Breakfast was good and continually topped up with fresh items.

Review 59:Trouble with drain of washbasin in bathroom, no second pillow, if required.

Review 60:Near to town centre, easy parking, clean and newly refurbished although facilities not absolutely finished well.

Review 61:Second time of staying. Good value location for overnight stay on routefrom Calais to the South of France. Good parking and cheap eats nearby.Staff friendly.

Review 62:better if you travel by car, although good connections by bus to the city center and train station if you go by foot, as this was my case

Review 63:clean and comfy, friendly and helpful staff!

Review 64:Smoking allowed in some rooms but tobacco smoke pervaded the entire building. The fire alarm went off (unrelated to the smoking), it was of course deafening, but the staff were slow to rectify the technical hitch. Too much furniture in such a small room, cramped, no hot water.

Review 65:Convenient for centre of Macon and wine buying

Review 66:Budget hotel for a stop over on a driving route. Not much else to add but ita was clean and quite.

Review 67:Easy location to find and good parking. Plenty of cheap, eats to walk to from hotel even if it was in an out of town shopping area. Ideal as a stop over when travelling. McDonald's and Buffalo Grill 2 minute walk.

Review 68:Location is not good though Macon centre is 5 minutes away by car. First appearances are not good - bright yellow is off putting! I had a disabled room with the shower seat OUTSIDE the shower!!!!!!!!

Review 69:Comfortable and clean and good value for money

Review 70:Functional utilitarianism at its best. Soap and shower gel provided. No tea and coffee facility in bedrooms but coffee supplied free of charge in the morning to fill our thermos. Fine for one night.

Review 71:The Hotel is as advertised. F1 Type, 1 minimalist room, beds are comfortable, close to the city centre (you'll have to use a car though). The Toilets are clean. Didn't try the food. Ideal if you are just passing through or looking for a place to shower, change & sleep.

Review 72:This is the second time we have used this hotel enroute from South ofFrance. It is conveniently located, the staff are very helpful andfriendly and you can get an evening meal in nice surroundings. However,we arrived too late this year to have the meal, so had to eat at arestaurant in Macon itself. Will definitely use it again.

Review 73:No coffee making facilities or hairdryer. Bathroom quite small and shower not big enough if you are elderly or amply proportioned.

Review 74:Location and cleanliness of room

Review 75:On arrival the reception by the staff desk was quite indifferent. But onthe positive side, later on the staff attitude improved and was morewelcoming. We had a Non-smoking room but the whole hotel smelled of cigarette smoke.

Review 76:Fantastic bathroom facilities and an excellent secure free parking area.

Review 77:The rooms are very small. This is no big deal unless you'reextraordinarily large and like to spend much of the day in your hotel.Neither applied to us. The car-yards and adjacent railway line will looklike disadvantages, but in fact are not an issue.

Review 78:Liked almost everything- we expected the convenient location (a two-night stopover on a long drive from Italy to Paris, and Macon was nicelyin between), we and the reviews prepared us for the small rooms and thecar sales locale. We didn't expect the relaxed cheerfulness of thestaff, or the exceptional value of the buffet supplied in therestaurant. Parking, internet, all free. The hotel represents greatvalue for money.

Review 79:Two of the rooms we booked had been subject to occupancy by heavy smokerdespite numerous no smoking signs.Suggest you fit smoke alarms in each room!!!!!

Review 80:Very helpful and friendly manager and his staff.Secure parking for one-night stay Simple but satisfying evening meal and breakfast - lots of choice

Review 90:Easy access to supermarket and town

Review 91:Poor breakfast

Review 92:Newly refurbished

Review 93:The stairway, and the hall

Review 94:The Beds

Review 95:The staff were very friendly and accomodating as we arrived quite late. Basic hotel but with the service of a 4*.

Review 96:Rooms. Breakfast. Pool.

Review 97:Air-conditioned room. Secure parking. Swimming pool.

Review 98:A little bit far out of the centre but easily found.

Review 99:Excellent service and food for both dinner and breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 100:Rooms extremely basic. Wifi did not work in our room. Extras wereexpensive. £4.50 for a bottle of water. Will not go back

Review 101:Unfriendly and unhelpful staff.

Review 102:Room was clean.

Review 103:Proprietors helpful and friendly

Review 104:Rooms are on the small side

Review 105:Informality, friendly helpful staff, excellent breakfast

Review 106:Good friendly staff and value for money accomodation

Review 107:Room a little bit small, missing wardrobe

Review 108:Good restaurant, kind staff, quiet place

Review 109:Good choice for a nights rest on the way to the south of France. Ood,safe parking and you don't have to go anywhere to get something to eat.
