Set in the village of Talgarth, within the Brecon Beacons National Park, The New Inn offers cosy rooms with free WiFi, and a restaurant serving English food. Surrounded by popular cycling and hiking trails, the small market town of Hay-on-Wye is just 8 miles away.
Each bedroom has a TV, tea/coffee and a private shower room. The double and single rooms are en-suite. The family room has its own private shower room. The basic double room is a shared bathroom.
New Inn has recently been refurbished and has opened a patio area for outdoor drinks.
From the property, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales are 37 minutes' drive away and Abergavenny Castle & Museum is a 30-minute journey by car.

Review 1：Damien was a great host, nothing was too much trouble, even offered to take us into town to collect our car the following morning if we decided to drink & get a taxi back from town following an evening out. Breakfast was great, plenty of everything. Rooms very comfy. Definately going back.

Review 13：For our needs it was the perfect location. It was one hour to Cardiff. It was a typical welsh pub with a typical welsh host. Food was amazing and the manager couldn't do enough for us. Happy days!

Review 15：We arrived late, there was no one in the pub but the landlord stayed open to greet us and serve us drinks. He upgraded our room for no extra charge, gave us some excellent advice on things to see and do in the area and even came in especially in the morning to do a late breakfast for us! Unfortunately the old land lady it would seem had terrible standards and an appalling reputation which has been hanging over this establishment. Well fear not, the new landlord Damon is an absolute delight and will take excellent care of you from beginning to end! He's done an excellent job and all bad reviews prior to November last year should be discounted!

Review 16：I cannot sing enough praise for the New Inn and its owner. From the moment my friends arrived to checkout two days later, we felt as though we had been welcomed into someone's home. We arrived late in the evening and the kitchen was closed down, but regardless the owner Damon started everything back up to put food on our table. And speaking of the food, Damon is a trained chef with decades of experience and it shows - though the low prices could have fooled us! The room was comfy and clean, and the shared bathroom was always tidy. Damon was happy to chat with us during meals and when we were having a few pints in the bar, and the one staff member that we met was equally amiable. Speaking of staff, the owner essentially runs the place himself with one staffer a night to run the bar while he cooks. The man truly cares about his business and wants his guests to feel at home. He and his inn are an absolute gem. Happy Days!

Review 18：The host was lovely, he is an amazing chef and our dinner meal was incredible so get there early and don't eat anywhere else in town. He is intent on making your stay comfortable and relaxed and you are well fed and drinked. The fact we could eat drink and sleep in one place was perfect. The town of Talgarth was lovely.

Bedroom itself was very basic. fitted sheet kept slipping off bed in night. Cobwebs. Plugs which did not work. Shared bathroom was not pleasant - bin overflowing, toothpaste marks on cabinet. It did not give the impression of cleanliness or comfort. It is over a pub and noisy at night.

Review 46：Very warm welcome from the outset and very obliging including getting room ready and request of breakfast. Ensuite bathroom was very tired as was carpets but for a one night stay it was value for money, what else can u ask?!

Review 47：The mattress was lumpy. The bed squeaked and groaned every time you moved. The owner had taken off for the day, so we were told there would be no breakfast except for the 2 cups of milk and cereal that was left for us for the next morning.

Review 61：As soon as i walked into the New Inn the barman was extremely helpful and friendly. Damon, the new owner, an ex- navy chef, cooked us a lovely meal on all 3 nights and i thoroughly enjoyed my stay! He is slowly refurbishing the rooms, but the bed was comfy and very quiet area so had good nights sleep. Will definately be back when in the area, and wish all the best to Damon and his team!

Review 62：Building tired and new owners had just started in between the booking and arriving. They tried hard to accommodate any request well done to them and with a bit of redecorating and new bedding this would be worth a second visit for me.

Review 68：As the doors on the hotel rooms are not proper doors you can hear everything from the other rooms, and also from downstairs.

Review 70：There wasn't much choice on the English menu, however the New Inn has just been taken over by new management, (2nd October 2014), and I was told that this would be remedied.

Review 71：The staff were very pleasant and welcoming as were the locals at the bar! The food was excellent, the room was clean and was en-suite. The bed was very comfortable, the shower was very good. Guests also have the use of a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave, cutlery and crockery. The New Inn's location is ideal for exploring The Brecon Beacons and further afield. I would definitely book another stay here.
