Reviews for Hôtel San Damianu
Review 1:Not the falt of the hôtel : the weather was cold, and so was the swimmingpool. They promise us that next year it will be warmed!
Review 2:Nice hôtel in a very nice village. The team was nice and friendly, and the room had a great view from the balcony.
Review 3:The staff was very arrogant and the breakfast that they served in theroom was very poor but very expensive. The bread was fresh butcompletely dry (like it was cut hours ago). We told that to the staffand asked to change for new bread. Finally the boss came some minuteslater to our room and rang at our door and told us in a very arrogantway that his Bread was fresh and then he left ! All along our stay, wefrankly had the impression we were always observed and felt like kind ofsuspicious... The overall ambiance was anyway very bad and heavy and wenever saw any staff smiling. We could not relax at all. On top of that, the restaurant was closed and we had to move out for dinner and we weretold that the cook was on sickleave... We clearly do not recommend thisplace at all !
Review 4:Beautiful swimming pool and perfect view on the valley
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:Beautiful location, overlooking valley below; pool with a view; balconies in rooms; simple but good food in restaurant - again with amazing views; very friendly staff; lovely owner/manager - Jean Pierre
Review 7:The room was very spacious and very well appointed, with a large bathroom and separate toilet. It had a balcony with a breathtaking view over the valley below. The continental breakfast was very good with the addition of a lovely fresh fruit salad and was served on the panoramic terrace outside. We felt very welcome and the service was faultless. We warmly recommend this hotel.
Review 8:We (along with 2 more groups) were made to wait until 3pm on the dot to check in - we arrived quite early and did not expect to have the room, but when returned at 2:30pm they said the room was still not ready. We were disappointed to see that when the new receptionist came in to start her shift at 3pm, all the rooms were suddenly ready. Also, many guests were using wifi in the reception area as there is NO signal in the rooms. And, the pool area should be inspected from time to time.
Review 9:This hotel has potential, lovely views and great pool area and spacious room.
Review 10:Just a perfect place with all nessesary facilities. The swimming and the view was amazing. And the smell of lavender was a great treat.
Review 11:Breakfast terrace, swimming pool, location and the tranquillity
Review 12:Superb location. Friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable and relaxing.
Review 13:The location could not be better. A prefect getaway. Lovely restaurant and modern updated rooms.
Review 14:Beautyful swimmingpool, but in september it was to cold to swim.
Review 15:Beautyfull restaurant with great view. Close to the pitoresc toen of Sartene.
Review 16:amazing views, lovely pool
Review 17:Breakfast a bit expensive, Somewhat damp air inside rooms.
Review 18:Beautiful, Superb staff, Fantastic location
Review 19:The fact that an advertised 3* Hotel-Restaurant, not in the centre of town, listing among its facilities "restaurant/food and drink", had stopped offering an evening meal -with the result that we always had to find somewhere else to eat, even after a long day. The cost of breakfast was 13 euros which is very expensive compared with other hotels we used. The buffet wasn't always completely stocked e.g. not enough yoghurts or no choice of fruit juice. Absence of fresh bread was a pity and the choice of jams was poor. Trying to find the hotel initially, in the absence of roadside signs for it. We did several tours of the old town !! Helpful note - just stay on N196, following signs to either Bonifacio or Ajaccio and look for the church of San Damianu at the edge of town, and you're there ! Bit of a sudden, nasty turn in - but no problem once you know it.
Review 20:A lovely large room with plenty of cupboard/drawer space. A balcony with a gorgeous view.Good parking, and hotel well placed for getting in and out of Sartene as it's by the main road. Very pleasant staff, with the exception of the "patron" who didn't seem to care about his guests. Good access on foot to the town of Sartene though it wasn't necessarily comfortable ! A good breakfast (including a fresh fruit salad) to start the day, but see below.
Review 21:As with most hôtels in France they do not offer room facilities to make a hot drink at night before retiring
Review 22:The view from the room, and near to the town.
Review 23:Impossible to close bathroom door, the toilette door with torn handle. Small inadequate housing. Half of residence no English-speaking person in reception. According the "Internal Rules' to have food in the room was prohibited. Inability to store our two mountain bikes so as to ensure against theft and at the same time to be able to take ourselves whenever we needed. Must be reported the day before.
Review 24:Standard three star hotel in EU...
Review 25:We were on the lower floor where you have to enter a sort of dungeon to go to your room. It's dark, humid, smelly and noisy. The rooms are very noisy from the hall (cleaning staff and other customers) and the rooms above. When we asked for a room on the highest floor (reception level) it would cost €20 more but unfortunately these rooms were fully booked. At the reception was a nice young lady and a very moody older man that had no understanding of hospitality and was rude, impolite and blunt. Beds were rather hard and pillows small and thin.
Review 26:Nice location with stunning view and in walking distance from the village. Breakfast on the terrace with the most beautiful view. Pool area has the same panoramic view.
Review 27:The owner/manager has anger management problems and verbally assaulted me over a minor incident of replacing 4 bottles of beverage from the mini bar fridge. I felt threatened and concerned at the time that the manager would physically assault me. He barged into my room, opened the fridge and started shouting at me. He insisted he was giving me an "ed - u - cache - she - ion" while shouting at the top of his voice. After the incident, I went to reception to indicate my fear and disgust at what had transpired. The owner manager was sitting besides the reception staff . She kindly translated that he was not going to attack me physically. Well I do not approve of being verbally abused because I replaced 4 x 300ml bottles with my own beers. Whether this is disrespectful to the management or not, it does not justify such behaviour. It's a real shame because after the incident, he was exceptional nice, offering us a complimentary beverage from the bar and a coffee in the morning. If it was not for this managers/owners anger management problems, I would gladly recommended this hotel to others. There is a risk no doubt that if you perform some act that is not to the managers satisfaction, you will equally be at risk of such behaviour. Occasionally I leave reviews, all positive to date on various sites but feel obliged to warn others. I would except an apology from the owner/manager if he acknowledges his problem and takes steps to seek counselling.
Review 28:Amazing views, clean rooms, generous in size, great restaurant. Staff were amazing other than the manager - see what i didn't like.
Review 29:The price is probably a little high and the rooms are somewhat dated.
Review 30:I loved the view. I had a room with a balcony with a wonderful view over the valley.
Review 31:Unfortunately my experience of the service at this hotel was not good. Our visit ended with a very unpleasant exchange with one of the owners who acused us of not having paid for a coffee which we had paid for in cash. Rather than verify with the staff member who served us, the owner chose to labour the point by becoming more and more rude. In the end she was forced to agree that we had in fact paid, bur for the sake of a 2 euro coffee this was in incident was very unfortunate and coloured my view of an otherwise ok hotel. I certainly would not risk staying at this hotel again for fear of being subjected to another rude and unpleasant exchange with the owner.
Review 32:The major draw of this hotel is the location. Pretty much every view has an amazing view and the town of Sartène is very picturesque and well worth a visit. The pool is also nice, but otherwise the hotel itself is not exceptional.
Review 33:Difficullt to connect to wifi
Review 34:The view, the restaurant at the hotel
Review 35:Bed was not very comfortable
Review 36:Amazing view and a fairly easy access car park (important if you are in a low ride height sports car)

Review 42:excellent view from private balcony and dining room. also has a pool. Dinner was very good. Staff helpful
Review 43:Stuff was unfriendly
