Reviews for Distillerie de Pézenas
Review 1:Restaurant CLOSED for two nights of our stay, when that was the reason for choosing this hotel. (I am ill and cannot walk far so we could not get to any other restaurant). The hotel was also VERY cold. Shower water only tepid on one occasion. The cleaner did not vacuum the room until we asked her to directly.
Review 2:Unusual decor.
Review 3:staff bit offhandish. mfood very average esp breakfast. restaurant not exactly there fore comfort
Review 4:great location. lovely grounds close to water. convenient
Review 5:staff weren't easy to fine at check in nor check our (i had to come back later in the day to check out as I'd not paid at check in) but to be fair they were very trusting, helpful & friendly. It's an expensive place!
Review 6:Superb, very clean, beautiful
Review 7:i don't like the breakfast the choice I was poor and it was way to expensive for what it was worth.
Review 8:I just recently stayed there for a local wedding the location is good and hotel is what I could see the best in town, the room had a big balcony which we enjoyed a lot. Overall it was good.
Review 9:On Sunday night when very few restaurants are open in Pezenas, hotel restaurant is closed to guests from September onwards but used as a private dining room for non hotel guests. Although in the small print this should be flagged on arrival to avoid disappointment and bad feeling with staff.
Review 10:large and very comfortable stylish room with excellent self catering equipment. Excellent location very close to ancient centre but quiet at night. On most nights except Sunday a great range of bars and restaurants to explore.good night sleep. These are stylish B&B apartments. Would definitely stay again. Very welcoming to our dog..
Review 11:No parasol on sun terrace. Staff were unable to provide one when requested. Low beams in wardrobe space were not very age friendly.
Review 12:Hot tub on terrace. Comfortable surroundings
Review 13:The Hotel Restaurant/Bistro was not open for 3 nights of our 5 night stay!!
Review 14:The suite we had was very comfortable, with our own entrance which was useful with our dogs!
Review 15:Room too cold. Couldn't switch A/C off. Shower controls poor - hadt cold shower. Room large but basic. No rugs on wooden floor. Few staff. Expensive. 4Star?
Review 16:Good location in town
Review 17:Breakfast could offer more consistency. Salmon, scrambled eggs and tomatoes. It was very carbohydrate heavy. For gluten free guests it does not offer value for money.
Review 18:No place to park on hotel carpark. I came late, 10.00 PM, tired and i spent 40 min looking for my place to park in the town. Finally, i found but it was faraway.
Review 19:Person on desk, a Man: trying to help funduje a płace to park my car.
Review 20:Unfortunately when we woke up our bed was infested with small ants. When we complained to reception their excuse was that the rain had brought them in though it had not rained during our stay. This was not an acceptable response for a 4 star hotel.
Review 21:The hotel is in a very convenient location for visiting Pezanas and there is ample free parking, which is at a premium in the town.
Review 22:Personal property (several clothing items) was taken from our room by presumably housekeeping staff- no apologies and an arrogant response from staff Food in restaurant is average
Review 23:Location is good
Review 24:Pool and rooms were a little different to pictures on the website. I booked this hotel largely due to the pool. There were no bean bags around the pool as shown but hard up right chairs and 4 sun loungers for all guests. You also had to go to reception to obtain towels for the pool which usually meant standing around for 10 minutes waiting for the one member of staff dealing with all check-ins/out, showing guests to rooms etc to become available. For the two days we used the pool there were no towels available, only dressing gowns. You then had to return said towels/dressing gowns to reception after use which meant the same wait again just to hand them back. It was ridiculous - just make towels available poolside and provide a laundry bin for used ones! (Not to mention the lock on the gate which all guests appeared to struggle opening to actually get to the pool... To the point of one couple giving up and walking away until another came to their rescue from the inside). We ate in the hotel restaurant one night where the food was 'ok' but the staff appeared to give up half way through the meal. Overall it was disappointing but has the potential to be very good if the above gripes were addressed. Pezenas itself is lovely and the hotel is well situated.
Review 25:Friendliness of all staff- they were all so helpful especially Hani who greeted us with a wonderful smile as soon as we set foot in the hotel then went out of his way to make sure our stay was fantastic throughout!
Review 26:There was a slight glitch with the AC
Review 27:Pézenas is a hidden jem of a destination and the hotel is near to the wonderful historic center of town. The staff at the Distillerie went out of their way to provide an enjoyable stay. The legacy of the distillery and the clink to a Molière are to be found everywhere in the beautiful decor throughout the hotel.
Review 28:hotel bill included six (3x2) breakfasts and one dinner we did not have or even reserve, totallying c €140.00. Hotel removed these from the bill when asked to however did not apologise or explain how/why this had happened. CHECK YOUR BILL/INVOICE CAREFULLY
Review 29:accommodation, pool,lunch, general cleansiness
Review 30:A lovely hotel, tastefully renovated old building. Large, comfortable rooms with good quality furnishings. Nice pool area, maybe a little small if the hotel is full and everyone wants a swim. Lovely terraces. Great location - a stroll across the bridge right into the centre of Pezenas. Free parking onsite.
Review 31:Seems to be run on minimum staff. The receptionist was also on breakfast duty on several days. Towels tired and no mini bar or milk for drinks.
Review 32:Spacious room with nice furnishings, lovely private corner terrace. Good wifi and firm but comfortable bed.
Review 33:This hotel advertises an indoor pool but charges extra to use on arrival. Please just factor pool access into the price.
Review 34:Decor, ambience, restaurant & spa facilities all excellent
Review 35:Shower/wet room caused a bit of a flood steps to our building not lit properly at night no hair dryer kitchen facilities but no means to make a cup of tea
Review 36:Good location with parking, stylish hotel
Review 37:The rooms are well decorated, outdoor areas too - stylish. Very professional & friendly staff. Patron welcoming. We will return if in the area.
Review 38:Huge room (although a little dark as it only had one window) with a very comfortable bed, lovely shower room with double sinks, useful kitchen with fridge, loads of storage and a sofa too! Our friends had the room above us which was much smaller but had the benefit of huge windows leading out onto a lovely terrace (facing the car parking area). Possibly the best location in Pezenas (which we visit every year) as it is very central yet just far enough from the centre to be very quiet. Highly recommended and we shall definitely be back.
Review 39:Room was a one bdrm suite, separate living room, kitchen and dinette, private patio and outside jacuzzi. The only negative was their wifi was still out after a rainstorm flood from two weeks prior. It wasn't fixed until the day before we checked out. They gave us a very nice credit off our bill which showed a lot of class.
Review 40:Management is lacking some oomph. Odd atmosphere and some of the services that you expect or are promised are strangely absent. This was an expensive family treat for us and our teenage sons. We had a good time despite the hotel pretty much.Nobody shows you to the room or helps with luggage upstairs. We were shown where the lift was and then the chap hopped back out leaving us to go up alone! He did at least warn us that the keypads do not work very well. He was right. As we arrived at about 7pm, we were told that the restaurant was fully booked that night so we would have to go out to dinner in town. This is odd as we were not offered a dinner reservation as residents during the booking process. I asked if they could not accommodate all the guests for dinner and they said not! A first in my book for quite a sizeable hotel. Most hotels are desperate to capture you for dinner. It was then admitted that they were actually short of staff, not space. This story went on during our week's stay. The same four people do everything except clean the rooms.Basically nobody eats here apart from breakfast. We never saw anyone having dinner in our whole stay. A couple of people had lunch. We begged a few sandwiches one afternoon. Otherwise you can use the kitchenette in the room, for which you need to buy all your own kit including washing up brush, tea towel and all! You will be given two teabags per room per stay, however long you stay. That is the allowance! I gave up arguing after a couple of days. The swimming pool was a massive disappointment, as was the "Spa". The swimming pool is pretty much a decorative space with a dip pool and some chairs, and the Spa is only a large jacuzzi with an occasionally visiting masseur you can book. No other treatments, no facials, pedicures or anything resembling the normal understanding of a Spa! The massage is only available on a few days a week and you would have needed to book before you came to stay. Hmm.
Review 41:Interior design is pretty good in the public rooms, weird in the bedrooms. All black and red. Very masculine, not restful. Nicely finished though. Staff very friendly. Kitchenette which you will become reliant on. Breakfast is good, nothing else is available unless you provide it. Upgrade to a suite if you are staying for more than one night. Ordinary double rooms are very small, dark and there is no wardrobe. At least then you have space. Pezenas is a wonderful town and best seen on a Friday night during July and August when the food festival is on. Fabulous. You go out for a picnic dinner, buying a glass at one end with wine tokens and go tasting while buying food to wash it down with! Live music is played and a lot of the shops are open until very late. There are some lovely restaurants and some rip off joints opposite the hotel. Best to walk a little into the old town to eat. Very good base to have fun by the sea, Jet ski, Pedalo, private beach sunabthing etc.
Review 42:there was a problem with the door locks. The GM never appeared whereas if he listened to customers the hotel could be more efficient and profitable. it was like nobody was in charge.
Review 43:The hotel has parking and one can walk across the footbridge right into the centre of town yet the rooms were quiet
Review 44:A little pricey (not over the top though).
Review 45:Wonderful, convenient location in a beautiful town. Very large spacious rooms with beautiful décor. Staff very friendly and efficient
Review 46:nothing
Review 47:Update to a suite with Jacuzzi on the terrace, good breakfast, high quality bedding and good service, especially the gentleman at the reception who speaks excellent English and explain us the direction, he is the best.
Review 48:Reception not manned 24 x 7 so you are provided with key codes to access hotel grounds and buildings which you need to remember / have with you.
Review 49:Recently refurbished to a very high standard. Walk over the hotel's private bridge straight into the town centre. All rooms have kitchen area with fridge / tea making facilities.
Review 50:Very dark room, making it hard to read No hot water in room during week long stay, despite informing the desk repeatedly Breakfast very expensive
Review 51:Friendly staff Good dinners
Review 52:. Bad beds. Horrible lighting in rooms.
Review 53:Hani the front desk manager, he made us feel welcome. Such a nice person. Very professional.
Review 54:WiFi ! Aucun bar les dimanches
Review 55:Situation et passerelle direct en ville
Review 56:Great situation, very comfortable and excellent staff
Review 57:The mirror tool high. Poor light in the room for reading
Review 58:No real coment

Review 69:Liked the Boutique nature, outdoor space, area to run/jog, ease of access to the old town
Review 70:duur ontbijt
Review 71:kamer
Review 72:Secluded, lovely views, warm pool
Review 73:Swimming pool far too small! Overcrowded car park at night
Review 74:Modern conversion works well. Bedrooms de-luxe
Review 75:Loved the modern room layouts, casual dining and moderately priced Bistro
Review 76:Access to a lovely town
Review 77:Hotel restaurant closed on Sunday, small swimming pool, AC cannot be reprogrammed, bed sheets not clean
Review 78:Spacious room, nice interior decoration, good value for money, city center in walking distance
Review 79:Indifferent welcome - receptionist looked at her computer and frowned and "tutted", giving the impression that we were causing an imposition. Even though I had booked some months ago, it looked as if she was finding it difficult to find us our two rooms. It transpired that we had arrived one hour too early, and were advised to leave and return later. I was able to prevail on her to allow us to leave our luggage in a room and return later. Later, we were unable to find anyone to get us a beer to sit out on the terrace at 6.30 pm and so in the end we went into town to get a beer, and as a result decided to eat there instead There was only one sachet of caffeinated coffee in the room. When I went to reception to ask for another, I was told that Housekeeping only allowed one. I had to ask for another, and was made to feel I was being a nuisance. Both rooms had an odour in the toilet which it transpired came from the toilet brushes which had faecal matter impacted on them - one in quite large quantity. The gymnasium was not available.
Review 80:Fresh modern decor throughout the hotel makes it very welcoming. Lovely bed rooms, comfortable bed, nice sitting area and a lot of space. I am sure the air conditioning will be useful in the summer, but whenever I turned it off, it came back on again within an hour. The rooms were very clean - aside from the toilet problem mentioned opposite. The lounge area and sitting area outside were attractive and welcoming. There is a large kitchen area with a fridge in the room, with tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel promises so much, and I'm sure with better staff training and perhaps more staff it will show it's full potential.
Review 81:I first tried to make a reservation directly with the hotel and emailed them from the U.S. asking about availability and rates. Since they never replied to my email, I went through Booking.com. That was the beginning of a long list of disappointments with The Distillerie!I did not find any of the staff that I came in contact with to be overly friendly. When we checked in, the female desk clerk (with short brown hair) did not offer any greeting or welcome to the hotel but instead handed me a room key with a paper sleeve indicating my room number. She did "not" point out that a gate code is necessary for the walk through or drive in gates after hours. She should have asked when I checked in if I have stayed at the hotel before in order to know if I was familiar with the hotel. The same desk clerk also did "not" ask if I would need wifi access because they have to print off a username and password for each device! Since we had 2 i-phones and a computer, that required 3 separate usernames and passwords which need to be entered each time if your device goes to sleep! Terribly inconvenient!!!We had room 208 which has dark grey walls, dark headboard, dark brown wood floors and a dark brown bed cover making the room too dark to see anything after the sun goes down! The bedside tables had 25 watt bulbs along with a floor lamp with the same wattage. I had to ask for another floor lamp which helped a little but had the same wattage as the other lamps. For ladies trying to get ready to go out, getting ready in the dark is no fun especially when you have to run to the bathroom to see anything. The room key usually did not work on the first or second time but took closer to 10 attempts for the door lock to read the card and unlock the door. In addition, of the 20-30 TV stations, not 1 news channel is in english! Having the BBC in english would be appreciated!
Review 82:The hotel is 2 years old with spacious rooms and or suites. The hotel is located in the heart of Pezenas and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. I believe most if not all of the rooms have a balcony which is great. The rooms on the back of the hotel overlook a nice courtyard with a few cherry trees and good size pool.
Review 83:Very disappointed with our stay. We ate in the hotel restaurant and were told 3 times the dishes we had ordered 20-30mins previously were no longer available. Finally, 2 hours after being seated, we got our main course. When we paid for the room at checkout the following morning we could not get a detailed receipt for the restaurant bill (to see if a gesture had been made to make up for the previous night), neither were we asked once if we had had a nice stay. The mirrors in the bathrooms are too far behind the sink, and too high (at least for most women) to see one's face properly, but this is a minor complaint.
Review 84:The color of the decor.
Review 85:The restaurant was a little uncomfortable in design.
Review 86:The staff were welcoming and spoke English. The room was of a decent size with good ambient temperature controls. There was a good sized and comfortable lounge by reception. Parking was good and close to the hotel reception.
Review 87:Le bistrot - restaurant - attached was quite expensive. Steak we had wasvery tough but service was good.
Review 88:Large comfortable beds and large bathrooms, kitchenette withcoffee/tea making facilities great. Breakfast we consideredexpensive at an extra 15 euros, so avoided it.
Review 89:nothing!
Review 90:From check in the staff where very friendly and welcoming the room was comfortable and spacious. The evening meal was excellent also presented beautifully, the waiter was very helpful we give "5 Stars".
Review 91:Some logistic problems: bathroom nice but the mirror too high and no make up mirror. The cat in the lounge was cute but should we have animals there, because the chairs were full of cats hair. Red garden chairs should not be part of furniture in the room.
Review 92:Good location to wonder around Pezenas. Good local list of wines in the bistro.
Review 93:Nothing to dislike
Review 94:The jacuzzi on the balcony! Staff were extremely helpful, Bistro food was of a very high standard and well priced as was wine from the region.A short walk into the centre of town though with balcony doors open at night, no noise from the town. Spoil yourself with a treatment from the Spa before you go. We will go again when down that way for definate!!!
Review 95:We really never give reviews or comments about Hotels but our stay was so special we would like to give a special rating to the Distillerie de Pezenas amazing Staff and Hotel. Everything is done to help you feel comfortable and welcomed like if you were the only and most valuable guest. We arrived with 2 hours late because of a problem on the road. Review 102:We liked the position of the hotel. It was just a few minutes walk from the centre of Pezenas The room was big and very comfortable and included a fridge, crockery cutlery and a jug for making tea or coffee. There was a problem with the water pressure when we arrived due to work in the street. The staff offered us a free drink to compensate.Everyone was very helpful. We would not hesitate staying here again
