Reviews for Hôtel Le Home Saint Louis
Review 1:No parking available nearby. All local car parks have a restriction of 2 hours maximum and closest long stay car park is 30 minute walk away. Found this out from the information kiosk in town as none of the daytime staff at the hotel spoke any English despite signs everywhere on the reception desk saying this was an English speaking hotel. The hotel was very tired and uncomfortable. The bed was the worst that we stayed in throughout our whole stay in France as we hardly got any sleep as anytime either of us moved the bed creaked loudly. The wifi in the room didn't work either. We were due to stay for 2 nights but checked out after 1 night instead and found somewhere else. In order to do this we had to pay the cleaner as there was no receptionist. She couldn't use the computer so she gave us our 'receipt' on a post-it note. We would recommend anyone planning on visiting Versailles to do it as a day trip and stay in Paris as there isn't too much to do in the town. If you do stay in Versailles, look at another hotel.
Review 2:Location was OK
Review 3:Little details like (no) curtains on the window, the shower curtain....(things that could be fixed easily)
Review 4:The bed and the wi-fi (full net), the quietness of the place, staff was always very helpful
Review 5:Staff was not helpful at all. I had my 7 year old with me and I don't speak much French. I needed to catch a cab to pick up the rental car which was only less than a mile away. I know it's a short distance but I had my son with me who was tired. In the hotel booklet it says the front desk will call a cab. When I inquired about this she rolled her eyes at me. Then she wrote down the cab number for me to call. We just walked. Will not stay here again. Very noisy street too.
Review 6:Location.
Review 7:Lack of nearby parking. Room was not cleaned when we arrived and appeared that some covers weren't changed after cleaning.
Review 8:The staff were very accomodating
Review 9:The beds were the most comfortable of our stay in France so far! The room was clean and they provided fresh towels each day. We didn't pay for any of the food but there are plenty of markets and restaurants within walking distance. We walked to the hotel from the train station in about 15 minutes. And only about a 20 minute walk to see the Palace. Great hotel! Would definitely stay there again!
Review 10:We would have appreciated more variety in breakfast which was adequate.
Review 11:Close to shops, railway and buses. Good selection of restaurants and the closeness of the palace of Versaille made our holiday very enjoyable
Review 12:The room had a bit of an odour but a renovated bathroom; and comfy bed. The breakfast was a bit lacking - at least for our hungry family. We would stay there again but would understand that this is a two-star; boutique hotel but in a quiet location with the tourists of Paris!
Review 13:We liked that the hotel location allowed us to walk everywhere including great restaurants; train station into Paris and Chateau Versailles.
Review 14:I have stayed in many hotels in Europe (I travel on the weekends...every weekend) and this hotel by far had the most comfortable bed. I had the best sleep here. This was also the first here that actually had a single mattress vs 2 full-size pushed together.... It was also very clean, and it is an awesome value for the cost, which was very reasonable also.
Review 15:The exterior walls of our room were damp, consequently we were cold and the room smelt musty, No hot drinks available during the day.
Review 16:Location is near the historic sites and it is quiet. The Staff are friendly.
Review 17:There was no off street parking. We had to unload a 9-passenger van and search for parking - which we finally found, many blocks away. There was no air conditioning in the room, but there were mosquitos. No elevator, but four healthful flights of stairs. :-) The rooms were tiny, and our bags were large.
Review 18:We had rooms when we needed them - they were tiny, hot, and mosquito filled, but we had rooms. Next time, I'll book 5 months in advance instead of 3, and find something better.
Review 19:No parking. Breakfast for additional 9 Euro per person includes only Coffee, juice and croissants.
Review 20:Room was newly renovated. Fairly clean. Location to station, business center and Palace of Versailles only short walking distance. Wi-fi connection was excellent and fast.
Review 21:Unable to access wifi. Ground floor room fronted onto street with unlockable shutters, so not very secure. Hotel safe no use as key not available. We paid the full room price for our 3 day stay, so what exactly is BEST PRICE?
Review 22:Helpful friendly staff. Adequate breakfast. Within walking distance of the Palace. Quiet side street location with little noise. Good shower in small bathroom.
Review 23:Very thin walls - you can hear everything what´s happening on the corridor. Very steep stairway which makes "luggage-moving" of other guests really noisy. Also there was a reconstruction at the moment we stayed there.
Review 24:Beautiful hotel really close to Versailles palace. Kind, English-speaking staff. Pretty and clean room.
Review 25:Too small, very little room to walk around the bed. Smell of smoke ( from an open fire not from smokers) There is a sign to highlight they speak English but its a lot of pointing and wondering if they understood ( blonde haired lady) Later realised that we were charged for breakfast for 2 days although we only had it one day Breakfast super basic continental style ( no eggs or meat just cheese jam bread and yoghurt) Lightbulb not working in our toilet
Review 26:Free parking for the month of August but not anymore. Location was reasonably near to Palace of Versaille Close to a shop if you want to buy something 5 mins away.
Review 27:Building work was in progress on the floor we were staying, which caused some disruption, and made extra work for the cleaners. No lift, and the staircase is quite steep Odd arrangement in room, with cramped toilet in one corner, and shower and wash basin in opposite corner
Review 28:Location was quiet, but close to the centre of Versailles, and to train station to Paris Comfortable bed Good wifi access
Review 29:Nothing.
Review 30:After the hotel in Paris, this was a pleasant clean, well staffed hotel even though going through some renovations. Lucky again with parking as locally was all free in August. The Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Décor was new in our rooms and very clean. A delightful place to stay and close enough to everything to walk even with a 4y.o. grandchild. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.
Review 31:Workmen arriving with fire doors at breakfast time. But they were gentlemen.
Review 32:Historic location, courteous personnel, quiet, convenient to the Chateau, interior décor.
Review 33:I was there during a french national holiday so... there was no one at the reception for a long time, after I rang the bell and called the phone some one came up, and was not very happy to be working at this period.
Review 34:quite flexible, you walk in and out anytime you want. Some times there is no one at the reception. Not too far away from Versailles the palace.
Review 35:We have stayed in this older hotel on two visits to Paris. Just a 20 minute train ride to Paris. Great value. We drive and parking is a bit tricky but 6 euro per day to park 600 meters away.
Review 36:Everything, sorry!
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:Very friendly and very helpful
Review 39:Very easy location close to Versailles palace
Review 40:Rooms are very small
Review 41:Great location & staff were friendly
Review 42:Some bedrooms have bathroom but no toilet, this was not highlighted on web site
Review 43:location
Review 44:Absolutely lovely, walking distance, sweet staff despite language barrier
Review 45:Breakfast was a bit lacking, no croissants or 'pan ou chocolate'
Review 46:Location excellent, room clean and functional.
Review 47:No tea and coffee machine in the room
Review 48:Reasonable price, nice shower gel
Review 49:Breakfast was too pricey for the quality
Review 50:Close to the chateau
Review 51:Good staff that was more then willing to help with some problems.
Review 52:it was hot in our room. they might consider installing ceiling fans to help move the air at night
Review 53:pretty close to downtown, about 15 minute walk
Review 54:Excellent location and helpful staff.
Review 55:Clean comfortable bed, great shower pressure, close to everything
Review 56:None
Review 57:Friendly, helpful manager
Review 58:Dirty hotel, old
Review 59:staff
Review 60:Rather tired bathroom fittings.
Review 61:Quietness; comfortable bed.
Review 62:Wifi didn't work consistently!
Review 63:Very friendly staff
Review 64:It is a very nice little hotel, not too far from the train station. Very good value for money
Review 65:No Parking
Review 66:Friendly staff Good location
Review 67:Cleanliness Small rooms Unusual room layouts Plumbing Lighting
Review 68:It smelled weird in the room. We had to keep a window open for the whole night.
Review 69:Bed was comfortable.
Review 70:Rooms small and bathrooms fitted into small corners, but it's an old house converted to a hotel.
Review 71:Good location, helpful staff
Review 72:Room and bathroom too small for 3 people
Review 73:The toilet facility in room where we stay was terrible
Review 74:very small breakfast wasn't very good
Review 75:Air conditioning is not equiped.... Hot summer season you may face uncomfortable sleep eventhough the price is relatively cheap..
Review 76:"Too near" to the castle and railway stations! The taxis are not interested! Breakfast expensive.
Review 77:Clean.
Review 78:It is really a fine experience to stay in Saint Louis Hotel in Versailles. The room is clean, comfortable and quiet. We like the europen decoration of the hotel very much! It only takes 10 min walking from the hotel to Palace of Versailles.
Review 79:The hotel is a bit in need of an update with respect to carpets and paint.
Review 80:The staff were very courteous and helpful during our stay. The location is conveniet to the train station and is quiet but close to the main attractions. Not fancy but pleasant.
Review 81:the carpet would need to be exchanged at some point in time (nevertheless everything was clean!)
Review 82:this is a very nice and also quite quiet place (we slept with open windows).
Review 83:It really would be a good investment to get some quieter way of the bedroom doors self-closing!
Review 84:A decent small hotel - doesn't pretend to be anything more - but very good value for our purposes. Staff very helpful with looking after the group's baggage on our last day.
Review 85:It was a little cold during the night (The heater should be place under the big window or near it) The internet didnt worked very good on first floor. A little noisy because of the slim walls/doors.
Review 86:the atmosphere from the hotel The chamber i stayed had enough space and everything needed.
Review 87:Well I'm still fighting to get an invoice copy from our stay after two mails with yet no response. If we do not get it, I will be in serious trouble with my institution, who is supposed to pay for our group stay.
Review 88:The atmosphaere of the Hotel.
Review 89:The staff are very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very simple. The price is very reasonable for the room and for breakfast. The wifi works! The location is away from all the tourists!
Review 90:The room wasn't cleaned yet when we arrived in the late afternoon (while the site states that you can enter your room at 1 pm). Poor workmanship, hair in the shower, no towels, noise from other rooms, ...
Review 91:The problem with the towels was resolved quit fast and the staff apologized repeatedly. Very good location and friendly staff
Review 92:No parking and the guy working there the night we checked in said there was none in the area - not very helpful in directing us to a place to park. We parked on the sidewalk but had to move by 9am.
Review 93:Good location to the sights and the train station. We booked it a very discounted rate so we lucked out with the price.
Review 94:The smell was horrible,we were forced to changed the room with another ,not too warm inside ,the personal don't speak english even they wrote they are english speakers ,last day we hadn't hot water !
Review 95:The only downside was that when I first arrived, I spoke to the man at the desk in French and he replied in English, which is really quite annoying because I'm in France to try and improve my language skills!
Review 96:The hotel is very easy to find, both not to far from the train station or the castle. I didn't come into contact much with the staff, but they seemed very nice. The room itself was warm (they had the heating on which was a plus as it was quite cold outside), comfortable and spotless.
Review 97:It is a small bed and breakfast and that at one time was likely a house. The breakfast was pricey but you did not have to eat there and were not charged if you did not eat there. It was clean but the carpet was worn which was not a big deal to us. On the weekend the staff was able to speak English, during the week not so much. We had WiFi which we needed. The bathroom and shower were separate rooms and they were two very small rooms. The shower was nice. It was easy to walk to Versailles but it was too far to walk from the Versailles Chantiers train station.
Review 98:Bathroom a bit tight, but manageable.
Review 99:Staff was Extremely helpful. Tried to communicate in as much french aspossible, staff supplemented with enough English to fulfill theconversation. Staff went out of way to help with local transportationand other issues.
Review 100:There was nothing that we didn't like.
Review 101:The location was near many shops and restaurants. It was an easy walk to the Palace of Versailles. We enjoyed many leisurely walks around town.
Review 102:It was old and worn...staff not helpful or knowledgeable,it was theworst place we stayed on a 14 day trip including at least 10 hotels. Itwas described as "comnpletely renovated'...I'd hate to haveseen it before if this is the new, improved model!!!
Review 103:Location
Review 104:As above
Review 105:Pleasant staff and reasonably comfortable. The damp parquet floor of the shower wasn't too inviting, and the walls are thin so hope for quiet neighbours. No lift and it's a long way to the second floor if your luggage is heavy. Reasonable breakfast.
Review 106:Breakfast appears expensive (E9 compared to E7 in Paris) until you see the size of it. If you want a hot drink in your room, remember to bring your own kettle & mugs.
Review 107:Good sized buffet breakfast (cerial, hot drink (inc herbal), fruit juice, pain au chocolate, croissant, yogurt, cheese) to set up the day. Supply of fold out town map (better than the one from tourist office) Quiet location 10 min walk from 2 railway stations, 20 mins from chateau. Nearby tabac, grocers & 2 pizza type restaurants.
Review 108:Good central location in Versailles, helpful staff
Review 109:The staff were totally accommodating with my needs and requests.
Review 110:all was excellent
Review 111:wounderful
Review 112:good price/quality
Review 113:Some late night noise
Review 114:A comfortable and cost effective option
Review 115:The staff are very friendly and helpful! Excellent value! The neighborhood is away from all the tourists!
Review 116:no refregerator in the room
Review 117:Mould in the rooms Dirty pillow on the bed Really slow internet
Review 118:Location was fine Bathroom was recently renovated
Review 119:I was ill, the lady of the house took excellent care of me!
Review 120:n'acceptez pas les Cheque Vacances!
