Reviews for Hôtel du Globe

Review 1:Perfect location, very friendly and helpful personnel, very clean room. A hightlight is the balony on the roof-top overlooking the roofs of the old town.

Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the young lady on reception. The room (#10) was very clean and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. Excellent location to see the sights, and an easy 15 minute walk from the bus/train station.

Review 3:Overprized breakfast and no coffee / tea facilities in the room. That's all. Everything else was fabulous.

Review 4:Great place , great staff. Clean and spacious room with balcony. Location near to the main atractions and bus station(very good connection with airport).

Review 5:Room was hot and though AC written on our bookings, was told it was off for the season. The internet was terrible and when we complained they said just keep trying. For the price I expected a bit more

Review 6:Decent location. Nice daytime staff. Cute roof terrace

Review 7:As it was early October, there was no air conditioning and the room was warm at night. The elevator is miniature.

Review 8:The location is excellent. We enjoyed the terrace. Breakfast was good and worth the price. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Review 9:Our first night (out of 7) was in a room giving on to the noisy street. Also very noisy pigeons. But we were very kindly moved to Room E, at the back of the hotel, where there was no noise.

Review 10:The excellent arrangements. Top class.

Review 11:hotel room is vey small, and facility is very limited, no hot water boiler, no safe box. My room is on fourth floor where the lift cannot be reached, and the staircase is narrow and not very safe (beware of the last step, which has only half step, making me drop down)

Review 12:the hotel is clean, and its staff are quite friendly towards customers

Review 13:Attitude of staff. Quietness of room (at back of hotel). Although a modern slightly corporate looking hotel there were touches in the room that softened it. Location right by old town is good.

Review 14:I really liked the old town, which is right across the street. Everything was within walking distance to this hotel and the staff here are very friendly and accommodating.

Review 15:Nothing!

Review 16:Excellent, Friendly staff, modern room, clean & tidy Good breakfast & Highly recommend. Certainly one of our better Hotels in France. Good Value! Just Pays to be Friendly!

Review 17:The bathroom is basic (very clean though) with just one soap dispenser. A bit of shampoo would have been nice.

Review 18:Super staff - nice, helpful, kind. Wish all the hotel staff were like them. Location is very good, walking distance to everywhere and easy enough to reach by car. Excellent insulation against noise - from the street as well as the other rooms And great egg cooking machine at breakfast!

Review 19:Stayed twice, 2nd time asked for room facing courtyard rather than Cours Sextius. The balcony and trees on Cours Sextius were a plus, but unfortunately, the early morning traffic and squawking birds were a minus.

Review 20:Staff helpful and friendly. Great location. Lovely roof top terrace which no one seems to use, so we felt we had our own private garden. Would definitely use again.

Review 21:I thought the room was a little simplistic , but adequate for our needs

Review 22:The location was excellent as we had access to the inner city and enjoyed the Saturday street fair.

Review 23:I did not realize that the hotel had a garage and when we arrived there were no available places. We did get a place on our last day there.

Review 24:Very helpful and welcoming staff, a nice quiet room, and a good central location near to interesting restaurants.

Review 25:Very ill maintained, especially the breakfast area. The panorama roof view is pure nonsense. Not worth visiting. No view whatsoever Service not very good but not very bad

Review 26:Central location, parking, fair price Good breakfast

Review 27:Hotel Du Globe is in a fantastic location, within easy walking distance of the main attractions. The reception staff were fantastic and always willing to help. The roof terrace is divine and definitely a selling point for me picking this hotel. My stay was superb.

Review 28:Two very minor remarks: WiFi was a little unstable during busy hours; be careful with opening windows: be aware of mosquitoes during certain seasons (in such a case A/C is quite fine to survive keeping them shut).

Review 29:Location (short walk from bus station and also from all central sights). Quiet room (my room was with court view). A/C. Breakfast (usually I ignore hotel breakfasts because it is very easy to find a nice place nearby; this case is exceptional - there is a wide variety of food of all kinds, including cheeses and sausages, which is rare in France; well worth 9 euros; there is a cheaper option if you are happy with juice/croissant/cafe).

Review 30:Street-facing rooms can be disturbed at night by noise from nearby clubs

Review 31:Great location...easy walk to mostly everything...extremely friendly and helpful front desk staff...lovely roof deck

Review 32:Poor breakfast. Very thin walls (you can hear people and TV talk). You are asked to leave your car keys at the reception so that they can move your car in the garage if they have to. Once someone moved my car and left it in the wrong gear so I couldn't start it then.

Review 33:Super friendly staff, well-equipped modern rooms, good bathrooms. Perfect location (close to the city center).

Review 34:doenst't have shower, only tub. We had made a reservation of the parking, but when we arrive there they don't have space for our car. We have to looking for a parking every day and the staff doesn't help us with this.

Review 35:The location and size of the room. confortable.

Review 36:Thought the breakfast was a little pricey.

Review 37:Wonderful location to explore Aix, comfortable and spacious room. Decent price compared to other similar hotels in the town.

Review 38:It is slightly far from the bus station. If your luggage is heavy, 15 minutes walk can be very suffering.

Review 39:I love everything there! The staff are friendly and helpful, the room is beautiful, homey and comfortable. The location is near to historical town. I adore this place very much. It left me wonderful memory in aix-en-provence.

Review 40:It would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. We did discover delicious coffee available all day downstairs though.

Review 41:Everything - nothing to fault. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 42:Roof top terrace was very nice but chairs were not very clean. Bathroom and shower were not too bad but could do with some upgrade (maybe it's just me having too high expectations given price of room per night). would have been nice to have a small fridge in the room

Review 43:Very friendly and helpful staff (smiling, good at remembering customers, offering help with luggage storage, wifi information, maps, etc... without even being asked) Good wifi connection. Clean room, nice and modern interior 2 minute walk from city centre, Cardeurs square with lots of nice restaurants, bars, shops, walking streets, markets Nice view from roof top terrace. Loads of towels. Good air con. Quiet 10-15 minute walk from train station (Aix centre station, not TGV station)

Review 44:Great location. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff. Very comfortable room with view of the interior court yard. The room was clean, quiet and tidy. The AC worked well and was very quiet. The location of the hotel is very convenient for exploring the old part of Aix- en-Provence.

Review 45:We found some ticks in the blanket, the staff explained that they're from the trees outside. The rooms look pretty clean though, so yeah, probably. We didn't find any bite after checking out too, so we're safe. On the other hand, there's very little public parking space. We had to park in an underground parking some distance away.

Review 46:We liked the wood flooring in the rooms (some rooms are covered with straw carpet). The lack of cotton carpet means it's safe for allergic noses. The express breakfast was cheap and nice. They were very kind to let us take any 2 items from the table if we don't want croissants.

Review 47:Odour from drains in bathrooms; staff at breakfast were less than welcoming; the difficult to access carpark is not worth the effort - just use a local carpark.

Review 48:Proximity to old Aix centre; nice rooftop veranda; pleasant rooms.

Review 49:limited, illegal parking in front of the hotel to register. Parking garage in the hotel was full, so we had to park in a public underground garage 10 minutes away. It would have been nice for the hotel website to say that on-site parking was limited and on a first come basis.

Review 50:nice breakfast area. Quiet room in the "tower." Clean room with coffee maker.

Review 51:At first on walking up the road, we were concerned we may have chosen a darkish, poor area, very busy road, and a few unsavoury people around? Bed was okay but, not brilliant.

Review 52:The reception and managemtent were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The distance with respect to the main attractions of Aix-en-Provence was very good, not far from anything. The room was clean and well kept. The availability of the terrace at the top of the hotel was most welcome.

Review 53:No dislikes, could not fault this hotel.

Review 54:The staff were incredibly friendly, always happy to help. The room was clean, fresh and had enough space for the 2 of us. Highly recommend for anyone looking to stay in Aix very close to the main strips but far enough away that the cost is more acceptable.

Review 55:Breakfast only OK but was not expensive.

Review 56:Simple but spacious, tasteful room. Quiet effective AC. Good wifi. Very helpful friendly staff. Roof terrace for relaxing. On the edge of old town, short walk to sights, restaurants. No idea why only 2*. Lack of grand entrance? No room service or minibar? Who cares.

Review 57:No minibar in the room but they put things for us in the kitchen fridge..

Review 58:Staff very helpful. They prepared a crib and small bathtub for the baby. Rooftop terrace is amazing!

Review 59:We were bitten by bugs the nights we stayed there. Even though we had the windows closed there were flies in the room and my friend killed 2 giant mosquitoes in the bathroom.

Review 60:Convenient to restaurants and center of town.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:This is a renovated old hotel (they did quite well with the renovation!) with a very convenient location. It is super clean, rooms look great and it has a great top roof terrace! The staff is super nice and all speak English. Close to a square with many bars and restaurants and 15-20 min walking distance from the railway station.

Review 63:No bad experiences.

Review 64:Helpful staff, especially two of the young women who took time to make recommendations of restaurants and outings specially for us - and then were interested in our reactions. Simple comfortable quiet room with a pretty view over rooftops. A rooftop terrace. The price for a full breakfast buffet - coffee, three juices, bananas and apples, two cereals, bread, mini pastries, yogurt, boiled eggs, cheese, and maybe salami - was the most reasonable we found - 9 euros. The location on the edge of the old town was excellent.

Review 65:Thin walls (can be fairly noisy in the morning, not much of a sleep in) or poor sound isolation; water pressure of shower is not strong; water temperature in shower not stable, turning hot and cold at times (seems like not a problem in all the rooms).

Review 66:Nice staff, attentive to needs and helpful; 24-hour reception, very convenient location; cosy and tasteful decoration; cleanliness; nice rooftop to chill out; good value for money and given quiet room as requested, facing inner court of the building with plants and flowers.

Review 67:If you come in via TGV beware the train station is 20 minutes outside of town. There is a bus that you can take for 6 euros. Otherwise, a taxi will cost you approximately 38 euros.

Review 68:We liked everything about this Hotel. It was clean, comfortable and well located. We enjoyed very much the balcony off our room where we enjoyed wine and snacks, and the view. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well.

Review 69:Shower, was nice & powerful but flooded the bathroom floor if pointed in the wrong direction. The air conditioner in our room wasn't working as well as it should have so room for warm in the night.

Review 70:Hotel has a great location close to the old town of Aix-en-Provence, close to loads of restaurants, bars & cafe. Able to walk from the front door to all the local sights & maps available from the front desk in multiple languages. Room was well appointed & styled. Lovely little balcony to sit & watch the world go by & a roof terrace where you can sit & watch the sun go down.

Review 71:The rooms located on the street side area really noisy as the streed has heavy traffic day and night. Bad window isolation will not help with the noise issue and will require you to set high temperature in the room in order to compensate for the warmth loss. No, you will not get another room even if you specify you don't like noise

Review 72:Breakfast is fairly good, the hotel has a nice top floor terrace

Review 73:The shower leaked and the bathroom floor got quite wet. But this was really a minor thing would recommend this hotel.

Review 74:Good location just outside the old city walls. The bathroom looks recently renovated. Overall good value for money.

Review 75:Housekeeping (specially cleaning of rooms/staff) was a bit hurried. My wife had issues with the cleaning staff because they were on theclock and had to leave around 2pm. Cleaning staff had to hurry us sothat they could clean the room. Breakfast is not substantial but ok forthe price (4 Euro for simple continental breakfast/8Euro for moresubstantial breakfast). But did not bother as you have more options forbreakfast outside.

Review 76:Location of hotel is close to historical area, dining and bars but yetstill maintains quite ambience. In the bus route. Very excellent rooftoparea, good for chilling and just watching the whole city with wine andcheese. Hotel staff very helpful.

Review 77:Complicated shower equipment- lack of hot water. Air conditioning not available in late October even though it was very warm outside. Do not stay overlooking the street as it is noisy.

Review 78:The hotel has been nicely renovated. The room was very nice and clean. Beautiful bathroom. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful.

Review 79:But the beds are verk hard so I did not sleep very well at all. But my wife didn't complaint.

Review 80:The location, rooms, breakfast and service was very much to our likning.

Review 81:Although our room was small it had recently been refurbished and had a great shower. We had booked a parking space in the garage, and were contacted immediately by the hotel to ask what type of car it was and our expected arrival time. The garage is very tight, but the staff helped with parking and exiting. We were visiting our daughter, who is working in Aix, so found it a good option for a short stay, especially as the hotel is a couple of minutes away from the old town.

Review 82:10 minute walk from Bus Terminal (Gare Routiere) but no connecting bus but is common for many hotels in the area

Review 83:Clean, recently renovated interior Friendly, English-speaking staff that are knowledgeable about the area Large rooftop patio great for sunsets Proximity to supermarket, farm market Relatively quiet neighbourhood

Review 84:Breakfast was unremarkable. Would suggest opting to have breakfast at the cafe across the street.

Review 85:Couldn't have been in a better location. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Facilities were basic but certainly adequate and very clean. Wifi was great. Would highly recommend staying here.

Review 86:Bathroom could use a fan but not a big deal.

Review 87:Everything seemed new and fresh and of superlative quality. Breakfast was filling and fresh, and I was offered a garage space for my expensive rental motorcycle. Easy walk to major sights.

Review 88:Everything about my stay and the level of professionalism of the staff was superior. It was also very convenient in terms of being able to walk everywhere. The room was very comfortable and everyone was extremely courteous. Would highly recommend it to anyone!

Review 89:We had a street fronting room that on first night the bar down the road was very noisy (rest of our stay was perfectly quite) but Air conditioning and shutters that close out light and noise did the job. Roof terrace for residents Great front of house staff

Review 90:The hotel is seriously overpriced even compared with large and notoriously expensive cities like London and Venice. Basic room with a very small shower in a disproportionally large bathroom; the mattress protectors are of the type more appropriate for small children or hospitals and make a lot of noise every time you turn around.

Review 91:Very efficient, friendly and competent reception. This girl was a worthy representative of the hotel and the city and gave us lots of interesting tips for our visit. The other staff members were also very friendly. For us, the staff is the biggest asset of this hotel.

Review 92:The lack of electrical outlets near the bed to charge my phone. If you don't leave in France, don't forget the adapter!

Review 93:The position in the city, not in the pedestrian center of the city but really near to it, to the University, to the city hall.

Review 94:It was difficult to find the hotel. Parking in their garage wasn't available. Available public parking was 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

Review 95:Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast.

Review 96:Le petit dejeuner is very basic ... But there is a boulangerie across the road!!

Review 97:Good value accommodation and well located for the centre of Aix as well as the coach station. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I would definitely go back.

Review 98:The electric blinds are noisy and woke us up when someone opened/closed it in the morning. Not a big issue though.

Review 99:Frendly staff is able to answer any question you have about the area.

Review 100:Photo of roof terrace misleading. No tables or food up there.

Review 101:Very helpful staff .Excellent location.Underground car parking possible --at a price.Staff helped to park and get car out. Made to feel welcome from the outset.

Review 102:Nothing I didn't like

Review 103:Great location. A bit hard to find, even for our GPS and we had to circle for half an hour. If you have a rented car, you should order a parking lot in the hotel garage in advance as they have only 7 places. Otherwise you can park your car at a public parking lot opposite the hotel but you have to move your car at 6 a.m. during market days; not so on Sundays. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms were very clean and quiet. There is a very nice sun terrasse on top of the roof with a nice view. Breakfast was ok, yet a bit pricy with 8 Euros p. p. We would stay there again any time and really recommend this nice city hotel.

Review 104:One of the staff members of the breakfast room... hard to get her to crack a smile. She wasn't the nicest person I have ever crossed paths with. She was a bit brusque and unfriendly. A small blemish on an otherwise very nice stay.

Review 105:Just on the border of the center... easy access to the hubbub. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Old hotel with renovated rooms. Nothing extravagant but comfortable. Our room had a small balcony. a nice plus! The roof terrace was also a nice surprise. The front desk staff was extremely available for questions and help. Even to guide us in and out of the small parking garage ( reserve a space in advance )

Review 106:Not the most luxurious decor, but good enough. LIke just about everything else, for the money, it's good enough. I stayed for four nights and had breakfast 3 of them (not included in the price) and it cost just over 300 euros total. No evening meal offered but restaurants are plentiful within minutes walk of hotel.

Review 107:The hotel is clean, cool and very central, within a five minute walk of the historic centre of Aix. It provides free unlimited Wifi connection which works well. Not all hotels do that these days. Staff friendly and helpful for the most part. Quiet location.

Review 108:They misplaced our car key, which we left with them when we used their garage, but they found it a few hours later.. was not a problem, as we did not need car.. but it was a bit unsettling

Review 109:Staff was very friendly, specially one young lady who spoke very good English and was really helpful in directing us in Aix. Hotel is very close to the old town, very centrally located.

Review 110:Every door key is left at the reception and sometimes there is no person at the reception and the door of the hotel is open to the street so it seems unsafe.

Review 111:the room is big

Review 112:Leaving!

Review 113:Really pleased I chose Hotel DuGlobe!lovely clean modern room, fresh towels and linens, and French doors onto internal courtyard garden!Although hotel full room quiet and slept really well.Staff v.helpful and friendly.3 min walk to Cours Mirabeau, really convenient to everything.Spent a week here and always had really hot or really cold water as required.Roof terrace a lovely sun trap with lovely view! Can't wait to return10/10

Review 114:The shower room was a very compact , not spacious enough. But kept clean.

Review 115:Nice bright clean room next to terrace. Staff friendly and well informed for visits in Provence and its vicinity. Booked instantly for tour bus. Had very nice pot of hot water and cup and saucer whenever I needed it. The room service lady was nice too. The terrace was great. Will be back at this Globe Hotel again.

Review 116:There was a lot of heavy door slamming going on overnight that woke me up periodically.

Review 117:The location was convenient, just outside of old town. The people at the front desk were very helpful and accommodating, including letting me leave my stuff for the day after I checked out. The roof terrace was pleasant.

Review 118:The hotel was recently and well done. Phillippe and Mary were very sweet, unbelievably accommodating and extremely helpful. Loved our short stay in this lovely hotel and charming town. Highly recommend

Review 119:no tea or coffee available in room no option to book a room with a bath via the booking.com site, hotel staff inform us "that costs extra" but the hotel website states "PERSONAL Standard room – for 1 person: double bed, bathroom (shower or bath) and toilet" so we are not sure why we were told that having a bath cost extra.

Review 120:Friendly staff pretty cheap but basic

Review 121:The bathroom's furnishings are a bit old and need renovation.

Review 122:Excellent location, only a few minutes' walk from railway/bus station as well as tourism office. Quite comfort and spacious room (of course regarding "French standard" ;-)). Our room was at 1st floor, outside the room window there is a lovely roof garden. Also there is a free accessible terrace at the top of hotel building with deck chairs and tables. So in one sunny afternoon we were simply lying there, drinking beer, enjoying a quite moment.

Review 123:Noisy if you have a street view Bad showers - in one moment, due to the bad engineering design of the shower cabine all the bathroom was full of water. Very very bad experience.

Review 124:Friendly staff Charmant room Beautiful view Access to the roof Very clean

Review 125:The hotel location was fantastic! it was within walking distance of the city centre, bus terminal and train. The hotel had a quaint roof top terrace and the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. It was also very quiet and clean.

Review 126:Our stay was fantastic. Friendly, welcoming and helpful reception staff, amazing roof terrace, fantastic location. It's well worth booking the parking if you can.

Review 127:Good value for money in a cheerful hotel.!

Review 128:Great staff, excellent breakfast, beautiful view of Aix en Provence from roof-top patio. Clean room, comfortable beds. Recommended.

Review 129:nothing!

Review 130:super friendly, excellent value for money, nice breakfast, and nice modern rooms with very good bathroom

Review 131:I had the most beautiful room next terrace, staff friendly, very good location in the centre of Aix

Review 132:Possibilité de local bagages

Review 133:Great front desk staff. Lovely room. Very comfortable. Extremely clean.
