Reviews for Hotel de La Comédie
Review 1:the shower did not have much pressure, the wifi signal did not reach the 3rd floor and the cleaning staff left the room unlocked after cleaning the room
Review 2:excellent location, nice room, good breakfast
Review 3:Excellent location, between train station and old city center. Fantastic staff that went the extra mile in helping with requests. Excellent value considering location, room quality, and modest price. Rooms are small but well-appointed. Noise does enter from hallway but not too disruptive. Breakfast is functional but not lacking. Overall an excellent stay.
Review 4:Room i had was narrow n cramped. Single bed that was very uncomfortable. Have had better.
Review 5:Excellent location. 10min easy walk to SNCF.As close as you get to main square without the noise. A/C a welcome bonus.
Review 6:There was a shower and no bathtube
Review 7:The hotel was really quiet, which was a surprise as it is so close to the comedy. The room was small, but clean and comfy. And the staff was really nice.
Review 8:A little tough to get to by car - check with them in advance and they will work it out- staff are very nicee, and helpful
Review 9:Location just a few steps from the Place de la Comedie but window onto a quiet street, VERY helpful staff.
Review 10:It's a pity that breakfast couldn't be included as complimentary - it's not really worth the extra price that is charged (you can get similar breakfast for cheaper in one of the cafes on the square). The Wifi was very unreliable - it kept cutting out and I couldn't connect to it at all for two days which was inconvenient given that I was there on business.
Review 11:The location is brilliant - just off the main square and very convenient for the conference centre - about 5 minutes walk. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room, which was nice and comfortable, was kept very clean, I really appreciated the air-conditioning in the August heat. There was quite a lot of noise from the main square if you have the window open but the street itself is pretty quiet and unfrequented.
Review 12:The bathroom was modern, clean and functional, but just a little on the small side. The room too was small. Ok for one night, but a bit pokey for any longer. No desk. The door was not soundproofed. I had some initial problems with the wifi connection.
Review 13:Very friendly, helpful staff. I was able to leave my case there for the day after checking out. Excellent location just off Place de la Comedie. Easy to find. This is good hotel for the price, and still retains some charming features of the old building.
Review 14:Wifi was not available on my computer in my room. I had depended on being able to do some work. I had to use the communal lobby area which wasn't good as I had to do a skype call for work.
Review 15:The location - really terrific. Couldn't be more central and yet it was nice and quiet.
Review 16:Tiny lift but rather a tiny lift than no lift at all. I was grateful for that. Other than that, no complaints, a very pleasant hotel.
Review 17:First impressions are lasting.I received a very pleasant welcome with the receptionist coming forward quickly to hold the door for me. My room was a very pleasant surprise, larger than I expected. The bathroom was great too. I was on the 4th floor and that was very good. I liked that I could look from my window and see Place de la Comedie.
Review 18:My single room was very small and rather dark; just o.k. for a one night's stay.
Review 19:Central location between railway station and the old city. Decent rooms with good bathrooms.
Review 20:the owners are very helpful and interested in their guests The hotel is very well maintained, clean and comfortable It is in a prime location for all of the attractions of the centre of the city's.
Review 21:The water in the shower lacked pressure
Review 22:Great location, on a quiet street near the main square, Place de la Comedie Very kind and professional receptionists, with a good knowledge of English Nice looking rooms for a 2 star hotel Very comfortable bed
Review 23:Great location, nice staff, good value for money, clean and tidy. La Comedie is a fine choice for those visiting Montpellier and planning to walk and tour the historic city centre.
Review 24:I think the room was a little too small, but for one person is okay. The lady at the front tried to help me find some restaurant but didn't knew the area too well (even though there are lots of restaurants). Overall I think the price is a little high, but it was okay.
Review 25:I liked the location, It is right in front of Place de la Comedie, which is in the historic center. This little plaza is very lively and there are lots of restaurant and smalls cafes, so from the hotel you could go anywhere in here in less than 2min walk. The staff was very lively and received me well, they were always smiling and offering to help.
Review 26:We are a couple (both 21) and it was perfect for our stay in Montpellier. Easy check in and location was excellent for everything, right next to a tram stop and less than 10 minutes from Gare St. Roch. Had our own little balcony too which we could see the square from (and used to chill down a bottle of wine). Planning to stay again in the summer. Thanks
Review 27:nothing bad - it's just budget so no extras like shampoo/shower gel but very good value for money.
Review 28:location (check in & staff generally also very nice) & comfy bed, clean, good shower
Review 29:Not many toiletries (but I took my own as I was aware of this) No hairdryer in the room as was stated
Review 30:The location is excellent - just near la Place de la Comedie. I requested a room not on the ground floor which was noted and happened. Free wifi (although sometimes s bit slow) The staff were really friendly and helpful and spoke English Great value
Review 31:Hotel was somewhat shabby. I had admittedly probably the worst room, which was pokey at the back of the hotel with a tiny window looking out into what was like a large lift shaft! All right for a night, but wouldn't recommend a long stay. Staff were pleasant though.
Review 32:Location. The hotel was as central as it's possible to be!
Review 33:- bad WiFi - bad ventilation (I had to open - unexiting breakfast (but still ok)
Review 34:+ location (right at city centre near the old town and with trams just close to get you anywhere) + friendly staff + I was not disturbed at night (from city nightlife, trams etc.)
Review 35:Bathroom needs freshening up.
Review 36:Air conditioning controlled from room. Location central yet quiet. Will hold on to luggage on final day after checkout for free. Lift. Friendly and clean
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:It's in a great location just off the Place de la Comédie, but not particularly noisy. The breakfast was good, and the staff were really nice and friendly
Review 39:maybe the key? haha
Review 40:Basically everything one need is this little nice hotel. The Lady and all her staff are so friendly and warm that makes every return like home... Perfect location, close enough while so quiet and peaceful... Love Montpellier!
Review 41:Firstly, excellent location. Even with a car, it is easy to find and park in the City's Comedie Square car parking (not the hotel's parking but is well sign posted on entry driving into the city centre) and then only a short walk to the hotel. (Rate for overnight parking = E 23). Hotel reception staff were exceptionally warm., friendly and helpful. The breakfast n(E 8 additional) is good value). A delightful hotel which is much more than its offical 2 stars.(and I am a hotelier..!)
Review 42:The downside of Montpellier itself was the numerous street people/ beggars. (Apparently they appear more frequently in summer. ) Our room had twin beds in it, not a double. I'm not sure if all rooms were the same. Age of the hotel. Water noise coming through our room from another each time toilet flushed etc. There were lots of cheaper breakfast options right near hotel in the square.
Review 43:The location of this hotel was excellent! It is only 600m from the train station and 50m from La Place de la Comedie! What an action packed place to spend time in summer!!! So many talented buskers and street performers. The tourist bureau, lots of restaurants, the opera, cinemas, all kinds of shops , a large carousel, a fountain, the mini tourist train and the tourist bus were all located in this square. The historical part of town was a comfortable walk away, with lots of restaurants, shops etc along the way. (We even found some pubs with €3 pints of beer for Happy Hour). The beach was easy to access by tram/shuttle bus. Tram tickets are available at each stop or from the Tourist Bureau. The two gentlemen who were on the hotel's reception were friendly and helpful with good English. We had a room on the street side on level 2 which was fine. A little noise from the square but nothing to keep us awake. In fact is was very pleasant hearing some of the music drifting down when our window was open. A lift is available but its very small. The hotel is old but adequate and breakfast is available for €8. We stayed for two nights in Montpellier, which we feel was enough to see most things.
Review 44:The lady in reception explained everything I asked and when she knows I want to buy some water in supermarket she told me all store were closed in Sunday and gave me a big bottle she prepared for guests. Her husband also very care about guest's safe stay in hotel that he stopped some drunk guys from entering the hotel even they wew rude to him. Finally , on the last day we stay, we were surprised to see there was a red rose lying on my bed.How sweet it is!
Review 45:For 2 stars everything is really good and appropriate. The location is absolutely perfect, just on the corner of the Place de la Comedie where you can have a breakfast on the sunny side of the square if you don't want the hotel breakfast. I would really rather recommend to take breakfast outside the hotel (it might even be a bit cheaper and definitely cosy and warm in the sun).
Review 46:Unfriendly owner not welcoming at all Toilett smells badly Bed smells horrible, not usable Wlan unsecure Paperthin walls and doors lead into very noisy rooms Don't go there.not even for one night. Close hotel Grand hotel du midi is perfect value for money
Review 47:Location central
Review 48:Bed smells horrible, woke up from it every time i turned around. Rooms are dark as cellar as windows go to a yard which is 2 by 3 m and topped with a glass roof, hardly fresh air. Only double rooms have proper windows. Incredible noisy in the hotel from the light somebody turns on, the lift, the neighbours toilette flush...paperthin walls and no toilette doors And: The owner is the most rude person i have ever met as a hotel stuff. She is fluent in englisch but keeps on speaking french and is complaining right in my face how complicated things are with my booking - because i changed it, which is allowed! Before arrival she kept writing emails i should book via her internet page as booking does not have all her rooms. I did for the nights booking did notnhave rooms left...and this freaked her out as she had to handle both..booking and her page. This behavoir does not provide a very welcoming atmosphere to the guests beside the smell in the room. Just 2 min away is the Grand Hotel du Midi which I stayed last time in and was only 10% more expensive for a double but: soooo much better, classes better. It is worth to spend the money somewhere else then in hotel de la comedi!
Review 49:Location
Review 50:The only small thing was the bathroom door was a sliding door, which left a small gap when closed.
Review 51:Excellent for a one night stop over in Montpellier! Location was perfect. A stones throw away from the central area. Our room had big opening windows with a small balcony (not a full one which you go onto), but if you leaned over and looked to the right you could see the central area. The view was just of the buildings opposite, but not something I was bothered about for a one night stay. The staff were very accommodating! They spoke a little English too. They were very friendly, helped us with our cases to the small luggage lift. They took their time about explaining all the aspects of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfy, the bathroom clean, with a good shower. It was just ideal and only £57. Perhaps only suitable for one or two nights.
Review 52:Location, cleanliness and friendliness were all great. Continental breakfast was good.
Review 53:Very friendly helpful staff, great location, facilities no problems at all
Review 54:The location is superb, right on Place de la Comedie, but quiet. Breakfast is typical French and is OK value.
Review 55:WiFi speed drove me crazy. Parking is a big problem at this hotel.
Review 56:Super friendly staff, amazing location
Review 57:Centrally located but nevertheless rather quiet Friendly and helpful staff Very good bed Clean and tidy room
Review 58:nice place and good location
Review 59:Nothing at all!
Review 60:Great breakfast, brilliant location and very helpful staff.
Review 61:Great service and position of hotel! Clean!!
Review 62:position. staff, cleanliness
Review 63:Nothing really...
Review 64:Location and staff.
Review 65:The hotel should be renovated more in depth, especially the bathroom.
Review 66:Centrally located. A few steps from place de la Comédie.
Review 67:No drop-off from car on street
Review 68:Convenience for Square and City Centre
Review 69:I liked the kind and nice staff, the clean room with an air conditioner and the central location of the hotel.
Review 70:Location, cleanliness, elevator
Review 71:The room was small but very clean, WIFI connection worked well. Bed confortable.
Review 72:In the heart of everything bars and restaurants in your doorstep. Staff super friendly and helpful.
Review 73:No bad experience but the room is very small.
Review 74:Location, clean room and behaviour of staff are great reasons to stay here.
Review 75:Convineance
Review 76:Bed was a bit too soft for me and the hotel in general quite old and with small rooms.
Review 77:Location is amazing and helpful staff!
Review 78:small
Review 79:location
Review 80:Central location, quiet, all facilities available, good breakfast and friendly staff
Review 81:Very little storage space and nothing more than basic facilities
Review 82:Great location and a clean, basic room
Review 83:Very freindly staff with excellent english.super location for local restaurants pubs and local transport.
Review 84:No tea /coffee making facility in room - quite noisy at night
Review 85:Very french in style, great location
Review 86:Proximity to main square, metro, train station and restaurants. Friendly service.
Review 87:Slightly pricey
Review 88:Location Good breakfast
Review 89:Could have been cleaner.
Review 90:Lovely Staff. Great Location.
Review 91:Superb central location, incredibly helpful and welcoming staff
Review 92:Cosy little room. Very eat and tidy and simple. Felt very comfortable here. Great price. Hotel is right on place de la comedie which is brilliant
Review 93:Room and bathroom a bit small.
Review 94:Good situation in centre. Clean room.
Review 95:No water boiler.
Review 96:Old french style, small room.
Review 97:Nothing.
Review 98:Great location. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Great value.
Review 99:Stairs and lift
Review 100:Good Service
Review 101:Perfect location and everything what I expect from a hotel, clean, comfortable, friendly staff.
Review 102:The property is simple but satisfying. The location is excellent. Great value for the money.
Review 103:The room was very small; The dingiest room we stayed in on our trip to Spain and France. Fortunately we only had to stay there one night. The only working outlet in the room was a multi outlet strip on the floor by the door into the room. The breakfast was okay, Nothing to write home about.
Review 104:The hotel is located close to the Central Square and the train station. The man at the desk was very helpful.
Review 105:Because of the proximity to the square, we were awoken at 3am by an extremely loud, amplified voice singing (I think) with some music (I think). It sound more like a caterwaul than anything else. The hotel couldn't do anything about it, obviously, and if you are going to stay close to the centre of the city you have to expect noise. This was, however, very much over the top.
Review 106:Location was very handy to Place de la Comedie, only a few steps away.
Review 107:Minor issue was slow speed of wifi
Review 108:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was excellent, just off the main plaza. I would definately stay again.
Review 109:Very minor point - bathroom door is a folding door so doesn't provide quite as much privacy as a "real" door.
Review 110:Fantastic location - just off the Place de la Comédie, but no noise at night. Really friendly and helpful staff, and a clean and comfortable room. Great value for money. Would stay here again if we go back to Montpellier!
Review 111:No safe in the room. Bathroom was very simplistic with a strange smell but it did the job.
Review 112:Great location and friendly (English speaking) staff. Close to restaurants, cafes, train station and tram stops. New windows kept out a lot of the street noise so it was quiet in the rooms.
Review 113:The room was a good size with huge French door opening onto a little "Juliette balcony" overlooking the street. Around the corner from Comedie.
Review 114:Leaving!
Review 115:The location couldn't have been better, with a view of Place de laComedie from our balcony. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly- especially the lady on reception. The breakfast was charged as extrabut it was very good nonetheless.
Review 116:Montpellier was a little too large for our liking, however we were glad we went. Definitely did not like graffiti on some of the beautiful old buildings.
Review 117:I usually didn't have hot water, it was barely worm. Toilet smelled bad, even it was clean, but smelled like bad drainage....
Review 118:The staff was very nice and helpful. Location is perfect, center of the city, near tram station, near Main train station.. Very good. Room was clean.
Review 119:perfect location (1 min. walk to main square - so super close yet not noisy, 10 min. walk from train station, all main sights in walking distance); staff was incredibly friendly and helpful; supermarket, reasturants, fast food chains, shopping street nearby; nice tv (but only french channels)
Review 120:One of the specific reasons we settled with this hotel was the internet. While it shows 'wifi' in the description, we were unable to get a connection up in our room. We were told that the hotel has only a certain number of licenses and that the first few floors must have been using all of them. While I was able to connect from the lobby and the staff was nice, we were disappointed at this....as it's not the most enjoyable sitting in the lobby at 10:00 pm trying to read & respond to work emails. My recommendation would be to request a room on the first few floors if you want to ensure internet access
Review 121:Location and value was very good. Staff was friendly.
