Reviews for Hôtel la Residence Du Berry

Review 1:This is the perfect hotel. Great rooms, excellent bedding and linens. Wonderful bathroom and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Excellent location. I would love to return and highly recommend Residence Du Berry

Review 2:The bed was soft--definitely not for someone with a bad back. Had to ask for a second set of towels (but they were delivered within seconds). Staff plugged in an electric fragrance diffuser while we were out--wish they had asked us first and given us a chance to refuse it. Facial tissues box in the bathroom was nearly empty when we arrived and was refilled the next day with another 5 tissues--please, if you're going to offer facial tissues, offer a full box!

Review 3:The service and facilities were excellent, except for a rather slow elevator and motion-activated lights on our floor that wouldn't stay on. We could open the windows, which was nice, but when they were closed the room was very quiet. Very good 14€ breakfast, with lots of variety, a pleasant room, and an attendant who would get what we wanted. Very helpful, friendly, English-speaking staff. Hotel was half a block from the cathédrale Saint-Louis, a 6-minute walk from the Gare Versailles-Château Rive Gauche (we got an RER train that took us to the Musée d'Orsay in 35 minutes), a 20-minute walk to the main entrance of the château de Versailles, a 20-minute walk to the market square and shopping on the rue de la Paroisse.

Review 4:I thought the breakfast was expensive so didn't take it. As is usual with french hotels there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room.

Review 5:We stayed in a room with a double bed (more like an English king size) and a single for our teenage daughter. Both beds had sprung mattresses and were very comfortable. There were extra blankets and pillows in the wardrobe. The room was a reasonable size and as shown on the website. We slept well despite having a room facing the street and coming from a very quiet Somerset village. With the windows closed there was very little loud road noise during the night. The wifi speeds were very good. The hotel was within a 15 minute walk of the chateau and a 7 minute walk to the metro. The staff were very helpful. We left electronic gadgets in the hotel safe at reception during the day and we could print off museum tickets at reception, using the computer available for guest use. We stayed 5 nights and were very comfortable. We ate at the Cafe des Arts opposite on two evenings and the food was excellent and the staff very friendly.

Review 6:Lady at reception was delightful. Location is nice for walking to the Palace and train to take to Paris. Rooms are nice and the street isn't too busy.

Review 7:No refrigerator or hot drink facility in rooms. Our rooms were both very small (we had to be moved because of a leak in our bathroom).

Review 8:Staff informative and friendly

Review 9:€10. was way too much to pay for 2 cups of tea although tastefully served, as we were offered free coffee on returning for our bags.

Review 10:This hotel was very tastefully renovated and superbly kept, with lots of lovely homey touches everywhere. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. We were able to leave our bags while we went to visit Versailles which was conveniently close.

Review 11:Breakfast was OK, but would not have it if I were to visit again.

Review 12:Good location if you're visiting the palace. It's the equivalent to staying at a Premier lnn in the UK. A clean and basic hotel.

Review 13:We had a room that slept 3 people and it was nice to have 2 showers. We also had a door on the bedroom which was great for getting ready and not disturbing everyone.

Review 14:Toilet did not flush and was smelly. Complained with staff on arrival. Still had not been fixed when we left three days later! Room for three is very tiny, can barely walk around the bed. Staff did not seem to care and could not provide basic information regarding parking facilities, local restaurants, etc. Definitely not good value for money.

Review 15:Not the biggest room we've ever stayed in but perfectly adequate for a short stay.

Review 16:Friendly helpful reception staff who pointed out that the parking was free on the side streets in August but not on the main street that the hotel is on. The whole hotel, or at least the parts we saw was newly and tastefully decorated. Excellent cold buffet breakfast cost 14 euros. The hotel is a 10 to 15 minute stroll to the palace of Versailles and on the way you pass along the street with plenty of restaurants. All in all we found this a great base if you want to stay overnight before or after visiting the palace.

Review 17:Breakfast not worth €14 per person. we only had breakfast one morning, but to be fair they only charged us for one person. Room was basic but adequate.

Review 18:Great Location. Pleasant, quiet hotel. Helpful, friendly staff

Review 19:No air Conditioning, No in room coffee making facilities

Review 20:Hotel In great location , Staff so Friendly and always willing to help and answer questions,Hotel resturant and recption areas allways tidy and clean , Nice intimate bar .

Review 21:Wonderful welcome and attentive service throughout. We were given an upgrade to one of the larger garden rooms.Very good meal in the restaurant and extensive selection at breakfast. Would definitely return. Just across the river from the old centre but pleasant walk so didn't mind

Review 22:Very restricted room and poor room amenities. Well away from Central Paris, but the room not much better than those in St Germain or Latin Quarter - cramped room and no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities; also no air con - we were in Versailles when Temp reached record 40 Deg C.

Review 23:Very Welcoming and helpful Staff. Easy walking distance to Chateau and good restaurants. To balance the negative comment regarding room facilities - we must mention that the staff provided hot water and cups for us to make our tea; also kept some of our food in the kitchen fridge.

Review 24:Just the parking's difficult. Had to use underground parking on adjoining street for 22 euros.

Review 25:Perfect location, 5 mins walk from central Versailles, restaurant, Chateau etc... Was very clean with a bar and friendly staff.

Review 28:We drove around the hotel 3 times in search of a parking spot. We ended up taking a chance and parking on the sidewalk. It was a very hot night and the hotel had no AC nor fan, making sleep very uncomfortable.

Review 29:Hotel is close to the Main Street and the Palace

Review 30:No air conditioning might be a problem in high summer. Room was a little small.

Review 31:Location. Good bed. Room temperature very good despite no air conditionong. Room rate reasonable for single occupancy. Lively street nearby with choice of restaurants.

Review 32:Parking is hit and miss. Underground parking reasonably nearby but a nuisance with suitcases to carry.

Review 33:It was easy walking distance of the station with good train link to central Paris. The Palace is nearby too.

Review 34:The room smelt like it had been freshly painted or wasn't aired out properly.

Review 35:Hotel is right around the corner from Versailles. You can park on the street for free in the weekends if you can find a spot. There are also a nice street of restaurants nearby

Review 36:Wifi needs a bit of help and I think the bed in our room was probably ready to be replaced.

Review 37:Great service and helpful staff. Breakfast is a hit and would liked to enjoy the bar but didnt get time.

Review 38:Rooms are pretty small but that is expected in Paris area.

Review 39:Service is excellent. They were so accommodating and friendly. Definitely get the breakfast it was delicious.

Review 40:Cab driver overcharged us but the female hotel staff contacted the taxi company and had the driver return with our money. Very accommodating and friendly English speaking staff.

Review 41:Nice big room. Accommodating staff. Walking distance to Palace of Versailles and train station. Good breakfast. Nice billiards table.

Review 42:Stephanie and her team were wonderful to us re our stay in versailles. We arrived ahead of check in and were able to go straight to our room. The surprise... We had been upgraded to the Apartment!! A wonderful two bedroom, 3 bathroom and lounge area. The staff were a delight and very helpful! Stacey (Australia)

Review 43:Our room was next to the bar and street. Neither were a problem but could have been.

Review 44:We took advantage of a special deal so the rate was very good for the hotel's great location near the palace, excellent restaurants and antique shops. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were large, clean and well appointed. There was underground parking nearby for our rental car.

Review 45:I booked a De Luxe room, described as 'spacious' but was given a poky room at the back. When I complained, I was told that the rooms were small as the building was very old. I persisted and was moved to a lovely room with no issues. Pity I had to make a fuss when I had paid for the better room in the first place.

Review 46:Very close to Palace, bars, restaurants and train station.

Review 47:Nothing we didn't like!

Review 48:Really friendly & welcoming staff; they couldn't have been more helpful. Bed was so comfy, especially after a day of walking & walking. Nice chatting at the bar late at night.

Review 49:We were lucky with on-street parking outside the hotel but it was more of a problem for others we talked to.

Review 50:Very convenient location for Palace. Asked for a quiet room and was given one. Breakfast although additional cost was good.

Review 51:We asked specifically for a bath 3 months ago, but one was not available. Internet dropped continuously. On the morning we left we saw vacated rooms, and there were baths, irritated us.

Review 52:Room was larger than most Parisian/Ile de France rooms, was quiet.

Review 53:Room was not ready when we arrived but staff offered us a drink whilst we waited so we felt this was fine

Review 54:Room was clean and comfortable - reasonable size. Wi fi available Able to leave bikes in courtyard overnight

Review 55:Maybe tea and coffee facility in room would have been nice.

Review 56:Large comfortable room - we were very lucky to be upgraded to a very nice suite. Hotel very well located for everything. Would certainly stay again. Bathroom was bright and clean with good toiletries and good size towels. Wifi connection was excellent. Staff friendly and welcoming. Secure parking is couple of minutes walk away and costs 20 Euros overnight.

Review 57:Difficult to find parking, but that was known before arrival and public car park (under Cathedral) is at about 5 minutes by foot.

Review 58:Very friendly staff + location close to RER C (train to center of Paris)

Review 59:Not enough time due to business trip, would have loved another day.

Review 60:Staff first of all was outstanding. Hotel is very pretty, within comfortable walking distance of everything. Great breakfast.

Review 61:Nothing

Review 62:Surroundings, décor, atmosphere just to our liking. Staff extremely helpful and considerate, particularly Stephanie and Frederique. Breakfasts excellent choice.

Review 63:Our room was much larger than we were expecting and the decor is amazing, very French and luxurious. It's close to everything including the Chateau and not too long a walk from Versailles Chantiers if you are catching the train. Everything is spotlessly clean, the beds are very comfortable and the water for baths or showers was always hot with good pressure (for those of us with long hair). There is a pool table in the common area and a lovely courtyard to sit in and drink wine. We really enjoyed our short stay here and wished we had stayed longer. Our hosts were lovely, very professional and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. Versailles is so peaceful and only a 20-30 minute ride on the RER C line to Paris. I recommend that you don't hesitate to choose this booking, it's well worth it! We'll be back!

Review 64:No tea and coffee facilities.

Review 65:Very friendly staff on arrival. Room was ok for our short stay and shower was good. Breakfast room was charming. Location convenient for restaurants and tourist sites.

Review 66:Just a bit noisy early morning in room facing the street No ironing facilities in room A small bar fridge in room would help to store water and other small refrigerated items

Review 67:Friendly & helpfull staff - front desk most helpful & welcoming, cleaner helped with luggage, kitchen staff always attentive & smiling Excellent breakfast

Review 68:Room hot overnight, a fan would of been a benefit.

Review 69:Friendly and welcoming staff, good breakfast, room was comfortable and featured beautiful wood beams, close proximity to Chateau of Versailles. Good size and spotless bathroom. Would highly recommend.

Review 70:Ask for a room on backside - a bit noisy in the front rooms. If you get the triple, the daybed is not the most comfortable but fine.

Review 71:Staff was extremely wonderful. Location great.

Review 72:Expensive bar!! Expensive (but good ) breakfast .....plumbing from next door was a bit noisy ....but it didn't effect my sleep...

Review 73:within walking distance of the palace..Parking was free in August ...I was expecting to pay €17 a night....

Review 74:Overexcited young couple in an adjacent room interrupting our sleep. May have been Tantric!

Review 75:Minutes from Versailles Great staff, Excellent room and facilities. Good price, Easy parking outside the hotel

Review 76:The breakfast is expensive for what it is at €14 it was nice but notworth that money we only had breakfast there our first morning .

Review 77:This is a great hotel located within 5 minutes of the palace ofVersailles and less than 10 minutes walk to the rer to get the traininto Paris . It was so easy only took 20 minutes to the Eiffel Tower onthe train. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpfull it has a lovelywelcoming feel about it . The room was nice and clean well presentedcomply bed we had a triple room as we took our 11 year old there wasplenty of room we stayed for 4 nights . Bathroom was nice and clean andmodern with a bath and shower over it . There were a lot of toiletriesto use free wifi which was quick and easy . There was bottles of waterin the room . There is a small bar and a billiard table with a lovelyopen courtyard . I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to visitVersailles or spend a few days in Paris it was so easy . We bought a 3day rail ticket which covered all the areas around Paris and Pariscentre was great . Parking was easy there are some spaces on the steetand car parks near by we were lucky in that area there were no parkingcharges for the whole of august but normally there is a charge for theunderground and nearby car parks .

Review 78:Wifi was moderate in strength, very small but serviceable lift.

Review 79:Very welcome and helpful reception, compact but nicely decorated room, good breakfast with helpful variety of cereals and continental breakfast. Parking seemed to be easily available in the street outside.

Review 80:Everything was just to our taste and convenience

Review 81:Excellent and supportive staff and helpful about all our arrangements including having a dog and needing to leave him a while whilst we explored.

Review 82:Nothing not to like.

Review 83:Great location for Versailles Palace. Fabulous staff - very friendly and efficient. Great breakfast with reasonable (for a hotel) price of Euro14. Clean and comfortable rooms. Our 17-year old slept on the sofa bed which, she says, was very comfy.

Review 84:Room 309 had disastrous bed bugs. Dozens of bites on arms and legs, still recovering from bites 3 days later. 2x Management at reception told, but just shrugged it off, so really not impressed by them at all.

Review 85:Lovely downstairs appearance, cosy, nice patio. In walking distance of Versailles Palace

Review 86:Staff very exceptionally friendly and the hotel is well located for the palace and many restaurants. We arrived by car and it was easy to park at the cathedral car park which was a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

Review 87:The window was in the corner of the room so not a lot of natural light and ventilation but there were plenty of lights. Parking in the (fairly) close Cathedral Car Park was actually 25 euros per day. If paying by cash (the card machine wasn't working when we were there) please be aware that it doesn't take 50 euro notes.

Review 88:Very clean room with a comfy bed. Lots of sockets. Lots of sockets. A good en-suite with a heated mirror. Everything you need for a couple of nights. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 89:I loved this place. Stephanie was super, and the location could not be better. 5 minutes walk to chateau, and lots of really good restaurants, etc. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Review 97:Wonderful hotel in very historic town. Close to all major attractions, great value for the money!! No negatives.

Review 98:Room too small. No AC
