Reviews for Le Pigonnet
Review 1:The hotel was elegant, the room was pleasant and comfortable, the dining room was lovely, and the meal was very good and an excellent value at 35 Euro for the menu. An entirely satisfactory experience.
Review 2:The restaurant has the appearance of being good, however the quality of the food is very sub-standard. Definitely not worth a detour
Review 3:Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly barman -
Review 4:Nothing adverse at all.
Review 5:1) Fantastic location - walking distance to all activities in city centre yet it's quiet & private, easy access to motorways if you wish to drive to villages 2) Staff were fabulous - very warm & friendly, helpful & accommodating 3) Relaxing environment - beautiful gardens for afternoon relaxation and group enjoyment
Review 6:While the restaurant was good, I would have preferred to see more options/different options added to the dinner menu. It's always a little disappointing when the menu is the exact same at lunch and dinner...
Review 7:The location was pretty good for walking into the city center. The staff was quite helpful and friendly, and very accommodating.
Review 8:The beauty and peace of the place made it magical. We've visited countries in 5 continents, but Le Pigonnet was the best!! Every part of the hotel surprised with its elegance, from its rooms to cozy fireside sitting room, intimate bar & live entertainment, to its gracious dining room. The formal French gardens took your breath away, enjoyed the beautiful pool, but maybe best of all was the staff's genuine desire to please.
Review 9:Absolutely lovely hotel with nice gardens and heated outdoor pool. Had dinner in the restaurant, food was excellent. Very nice bar area. Staff were excellent throughout. 10 minute walk into Aix. Plenty of parking.
Review 10:Road noise Smelly and cold steam room
Review 11:Nice room in main hotel which was clean. Outdoor pool was heated and pretty secluded so we made good use of this over two days. There is a sauna and steam room which you can book to use ( free for hotel guests) the sauna is great but the steam room was a little bit cold and had a bad smell so we didn't use that (maybe it needs a good clean??) There is a small gym for guests to use with treadmill, rower, recumbent cycle, weight stack and some free weights. We had dinner in the hotel and the vegetarian menu was very good but my husband had the beef for the main course and he left most of it as it was tough ( he also asked for it 'well done' and it was served 'medium rare' but I think this is a French thing as all meat seems to be served rare)
Review 12:Location. Not quite walking distance to aix on provence and not much to do or facilities in immediate area.
Review 13:Staff were lovely and incredibly helpful and beautiful grounds
Review 14:I liked everything but perhaps the final bill was higher than I expected - but this was the restaurant rather than the room. However, the restaurant was fantastic and I guess one has to pay for superior meals and service
Review 15:Everything - the reception , the room, the common rooms, the gardens ( superb!), the restaurant. Truely exquisite
Review 16:Walk into Aix along a rather rundown area strewn with litter.
Review 17:Room ok. Very good restaurant. Good bar and communal area. Staff very nice. Beautiful grounds.
Review 18:Nothing not to like
Review 19:We like the gardens of the hotel very relaxing atmosphere excellent food we had lunch on the terrace when we arrived & dinner another night. A small boutique hotel we stayed 2 nights & enjoyed our stay very much & will come again
Review 20:Bed was hard and lighting was dim especially in bathroom....light were all overhead with no sconce lights for shaving and makeup. Also floor above us was hard surface so we heard every step. Still in all very pleasant stay!
Review 21:Lovely hotel with fantastic gardens ans wonderful dinners...very nice staff!
Review 22:Food was not acceptable for a 5 star hotel. The first night we ate at y restaurant i was not able to eat the veal tough no flavor service not great!!
Review 23:Ambiance Well mantain gardens
Review 24:Although I had informed the staff that I had an egg allergy the restaurant served me canapés that contained egg. I had a severe reaction and was sick throughout the night. The hotel responded by not charging me for my meal and having the manager of the restaurant serve us personally at subsequent meals. Even so I was still served canapés that contained eggs. Aside from this, the food was excellent and the ambience was exceptional.
Review 25:Many of the staff were rude particularly young female staff inrestaurant and female receptionist. Gave us incorrect room on arrivaland were reluctant to acknowledge. Stayed in a room for 5 days with nodrawers to put clothes in so lived out of the suitcase - in a five starhotel! Moved out to Villa Gallici which is wonderful - go there instead.
Review 26:Helpful and friendly pool staff
Review 27:The "classic rooms" did not seem to be in the original bastide as claimed on the Booking.com website, but in a new build extension, consequently, they were very small for a five star hotel, they lacked originality and character.
Review 28:location: peaceful oasis in Aix, lovely garden, excellent and imaginative cuisine. Helpful staff.
Review 29:If you are tired in the midst of Aix stroll, it may be inconvenient to get to the hotel for short break, but probably this little distance from Aix centre ads to its tranquility and blissfulness.
Review 30:The quiet blissful set up do the hotel. The exquisite attention to details. The hospitality of the staff.
Review 31:Beautiful Gardens, great suites with spacious private terraces, nice garden lounge bar, nice interior decoration and multiple private spaces, great food and service!
Review 32:The free WiFi was a bit sketchy. Not many snacks available at the pool bar.
Review 33:A fabulous hotel. The staff were welcoming friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a great meal at the restaurant on our first night and breakfast every day was perfect- all served on the garden terrace. The room facilities were excellent, including a very comfortable bed. A very relaxing environment for a holiday.
Review 34:The hotel doesn't have a concierge desk. The reception staff does the reception, concierge, and whatever else you can imagine. The room is extremely small. I had to leave at 5am in the morning to catch a flight and the hotel doors were closed and there was nobody on the front desk.
Review 35:The building is quite unique, the room is small but well decorated and the breakfast was well served and not expensive.
Review 36:It was a tad pricey. Getting hit with a significant foreign transaction fee when checking out was tough to swallow.
Review 37:The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The grounds of the hotel were gorgeous, the gardens were lush and manicured and the pool was glorious and refreshing. I didn't want to leave!
Review 38:We had a superior room which unfortunately was disappointingly small with little room around the bed. The wardrobe was also too small. The wash hand basin was cracked. The room facilities were whilst totally adequate were not that of a five star hotel.
Review 39:The gardens were beautiful and dining on the terrace was a treat. USB charging ports in the room were a nice touch. The pool was great.
Review 40:Nothing Except it was a surprise for such a well maintained hotel that the wash basin in our room was full of hairline cracks ! The breakfast is overpriced.
Review 41:The staff and the garden .
Review 42:The staff seemed very young and inattentive at times. We had to request service for the breakfast buffet which didn't provide many items listed in the menu.
Review 43:This wonderful resort has all the facilities that we wanted for a 2-day get-away in beautiful Provence, only a short walk from the attractions of Old Town. Rooms were spacious and well equipped, made cozy by a turn-down of the bed every evening.
Review 44:The room looked nothing like what I had booked, more like a budget version. I was unaware that staff for the spa were not on duty for normal working hours, as I was not informed about this on arrival, so when I tried to book an appointment I was told it was too late to organise. So a spa weekend away for my Mum's birthday was ruined. They did allow my Mum to use the Hamam and Sauna, but the available staff were useless as to how it worked for my Mums assistance. Also being Winter I would expect a complimentary tea station in the room for guests to have a warm drink, but everything was 'charge or room service'.
Review 45:The staff were lovely on arrival, although nowhere to be seen on leaving. Grounds were beautiful even though quiet and cold as it was a Winter visit.
Review 46:Breakfast too expensive so chose to walk a couple of hundred mtrs to a small cafe.
Review 47:The hotel was very nice, clean and relatively close to the city centre.
Review 48:Food and facilities
Review 49:Amazing staff Great restaurant with room service 15 minute walk from downtown Aix
Review 50:Exceeded my expectations
Review 51:Beautiful hotel with great location. Lovely grounds and great friendly service
Review 52:Approx 15 minute walk from the town centre
Review 53:Beautiful gardens, fabulous food and very helpful staff. Really a very nice blend of sophistication and warmth.
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:It was perfect! Staff, grounds and service was excellent. Food and Drinks excellent
Review 56:Breakfast staff a bit remote
Review 57:It is a quiet location with pretty secured gardens so 15 minute walk to city centre
Review 58:Low lighting in the bathroom.
Review 59:Location, food, Cleanliness, wonderful staff.
Review 60:I thought the dinner menu was limited but that could be a question of taste
Review 61:lovely gardens and staff are excellent
Review 62:Beautifully presented hotel and grounds and exceptional service, especially in the restaurant.
Review 63:- pool much to hot - fitness equipment
Review 64:- the garden with the lounge - the room - the staff - the atmosphere
Review 65:Rude staff in the restaurant.
Review 66:The service at the pool was exceptional - a real highlight of our visit.
Review 67:Great location, outstanding food, super supportive and friendly staff!!
Review 68:Rooms where fairly old fashioned
Review 69:Hotel grounds, garden and staff
Review 70:Everything!
Review 71:Relaxed atmosphere
Review 72:Room was a little tight
Review 73:Location and gardens. Food was fabulous.
Review 74:Expensive.
Review 75:Very good and hospitable Staff. Good and clean rooms.
Review 76:Everything basically!
Review 77:das Zimmer war etwas klein.
Review 78:Pool, Food, Garten
Review 79:The breakfast in the garden
Review 80:Lousy WiFi
Review 81:Kindness Free Parking
Review 82:The place is beautiful, the staff are fantastic and the food is superb. What's not to like.
Review 83:Location was convenient Surroundings lovely Great place
Review 84:the room safe didnt work. wasnt alot of choice on the dinner menu & was very expensive , great if you wanted fine dining. the restaurant service was excellent though. the meal cost more than the nights' accommodation!!
Review 85:the view from our room overlooking the stunning gardens was beautiful. no elevator.
Review 86:The bistro for casual dining was closed for remodeling. Thelocation is nice but not in the heart of the city activities. Ok ifyou enjoy walking.
Review 87:Very nice facility and beautiful gardens. The outdoor bar was a greatplace to relax over snacks and drinks with very friendly staff.Breakfast was excellent in a pleasant room.
Review 88:While we thought the morning buffet a bit expensive it was certainly in line with the other 3, 4 and 5 star properties we stayed in in Chartres, Beaune, Gigondas, and Mougins.
Review 89:The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Unlike some other reviews, we found the rooms were nicely renovated and were typical of a 5 star property in heritage buildings. The grounds are beautiful and very peaceful, especially after a week in Paris and Nice. Ten minute walk into the old town was easy. No extra charge for parking.
Review 90:Beautiful garden creating a calm and serene environment with close proximity to the town center. Superb cuisine with efficient and friendly service. Enjoyed great weather and being able to dine on the terrace facing garden. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 91:The high prices of accommodation in hotel don't correspond to low level of comfort of accommodation in hotel. During stay in SPA hotel the zone didn't work. Every morning you wake up from a roar from central поъезда hotel in connection with unloading or pogruzuky in cars of any property. For this reason to reserve numbers with windows coming to a main entrance I don't recommend. The breakfast for 25 euros from the person very poor also doesn't correspond to level of hotel of 5 stars. Evening dinner unfairly expensive and thus not so wide choice of dishes. During stay in hotel works were constantly conducted any construction. Open swimming bassy not so pure. The person is a lot of serving, but thus you feel comfortably.
Review 92:Fine garden and restaurant in on a terrace
Review 93:You don't always want to eat gourmet cuisine. It would have been nice to also have had access to an all day cafe & bar where you could eat light snacks. Also the location was a bit too far from the centre.
Review 94:The comfort, the excellent service and the superb food.
Review 95:We stayed in mid June, with average temperatures in the 30's centigrade, but the hotel air con/ heating was switched to heating and the hotel would not turn on the cooling. So the nights room temperature was in the mid to high 20's. Breakfast wasn't generous and quite expensive at 25€ per person.
Review 96:Attractive, spacious grounds. Shuttle bus available.
Review 97:The rooms were small. One couple's room looked down on a garbage dumpster! The breakfast buffet was overpriced. The scrambled eggs were horrible and unidentifiable as eggs, but the service was good.
Review 98:The grounds were beautiful and photogenic, the pool was pristine, and the bar and pool service were exceptional.
Review 99:Long walk to town. Restaurant is very gourmet, snooty. Request a room overlooking the garden...ours looked at the parking lot.
Review 100:Gardens and pool area are wonderful.
Review 101:Past it's prime. Worn down. Over priced. Carpets old, ugly and soiled. Hallway walls chipped. Poor fit and finish. Restaurant prices through the roof.
Review 102:Gardens.
Review 103:unfortunately the hotel was in the middle of renovations and the accommodation was therefore not up to scratch. But the staff were very apologetic and did not charge us for the room, e will be going back to see the finished article!
Review 104:excellent restaurant
Review 105:There was nothing I did not like about the hotel. We were on the 2ndstop of our honeymoon so we did not care how much everything cost. Butfor those travelers that are conscious of their budget and don't want topay $9us for a can of Coke you might want to look elsewhere.
Review 106:The best part of the hotel were the gardens. It was so nice to return tothe hotel after a long day and sit in one of the gardens little nooksand have a glass of wine. The pool was relaxing and the spa was verygood. The room was nice and roomy. Not as small as I thought it wouldbe. We had dinner at the restaurant which was excellent but expensive.
Review 107:An oasis within walking distance of central aix-en-Provence. Beautiful grounds, great restaurant, very friendly staff. I only wish we had been able to stay longer!
Review 108:we were only one night but enjoyed the hotel very much. The rooms are very nice and the pool is excellent. the breakfast is expensive, but worth it. We recommend :-)
Review 109:Not a 5 star hotel, more a 4 star boutique hotel. Few facilities onoffer. Food is ok, but not as one would expect in a 5 star Frenchhotel. The set menu was the same for 2 nights running. Staff were notparticularly welcoming. Our de luxe room was ok, but not great valuefor money.
Review 110:Nice location about 1 kilometer from Aix en Provence central. Quieterthan more centrall hotels.. Beautiful peaceful garden. Attractive oldmanor house.
Review 111:Painting in the dining room and carpet replacement on the stairs was underway during our stay; we thought such repairs should have been made during the winter off-season. A deck was under construction in the gardens, and the pool-side toilette was being re-tiled as well. Rooms have been updated in recent years, but carpet in hallways is in need of replacement. Facility does not smell fresh. Air conditioning is minimally effective. Housekeeping was excellent, and maid service was very customer-friendly. In our opinion, this hotel would be fine if you expected a 3-star or maybe even a 4-star experience, but definitely not a 5-star experience. We spent 3 weeks in France, and Le Pigonnet was a bit of a disappointment overall.
Review 112:Good location, with easy walk or drive into the center of Aix-en- Provence. Lovely gardens behind hotel and attractive dining room. Service in dining room was nice.
Review 113:The hotel is set in a large park and gives the feeling of been in the countryside, despite the proximity with city center ( 10 min walk ) The restaurant terrace is fantastic and is a must even for those not staying ! There is a nice swimming pool and a private parking ( free and secured within the gate of the property )
Review 114:Le Pigonnet is one of the most charming and delightful hotels at which we have ever stayed. The gardens are a delight, and every aspect is simply charming. We would love to return
Review 115:The hotel rooms are very faded. They need some new carpet and a spruceup. They had a bit of a feeling of a business hotel.
Review 116:The grounds and gardens were fantastic
Review 117:The property and rooms are first class. The gardens and general ambienceis absolutely delightful. The staff are professional and mannerly. It isa haven, and a very memorable experience. Being a 5 star resort, thefood and service is superb, but at a high price. Breakfast and dinner orlunch out on the patio area, is perfect. Swimming pool also wonderful.Viva La Pigonnet..
Review 118:This is supposed to have 5 Michelin stars. The coffee at breakfast was instant and almost undrinkable.
Review 119:The location and gardens are attractive, and a calm refuge away from the bustle of the city. The individual courses for dinner were particularly good.
Review 120:I was disappointed in the Le Pigonnet. It is rated as a five star hotelyet, the carpet is old and there is a bad odor in the hallways. Thelocation is a bit far from the center . However, the gardens arebeautiful and the breakfast was exceptional.
Review 121:The breakfast has a wide selection but they do not buy fresh bread fromthe baker which is disappointing. I was upgraded with a room with abalcony but I had stayed another time and my room was twice the size forthe same price but it did not have a balcony.
Review 122:I have stayed before. It is outside of town but within walking distanceand it is very calm. A very good restaurant. Nice linens. A goodselection for breakfast and
