Reviews for Eype's Mouth Country Hotel

Review 1:The road access to the hotel was very narrow with limited places for vehicles to pass. This is out of the control of the hotel and once on site the location of the hotel itself was great.

Review 2:The location staff and the breakfast were great. The room was very large with plenty of hanging space and extremely clean. The bathroom looked to be newly refurbished to a high standard.

Review 3:Parts of the hotel appear to have been refurbished but other parts are a little tired, including the room we stayed in (although I hasten to add it was still very clean and comfortable).

Review 4:Fantastic location close to the beach and cliffs. Very friendly staff. Good, hearty bar food. Relaxed homely atmosphere.

Review 5:Some areas of the hotel need modernising especially the rooms although this hotel is under going refurbishment and we look forward to staying again to see the improvements.

Review 6:Location and staff

Review 7:Bathroom a little outdated. TV on side wall making it uncomfortable to look at.

Review 8:Very well located for coastal path. Staff very genuinely welcoming and helpful Good freshly cooked breakfast - had lunch also good. Nice view from the terraces.

Review 9:I felt that breakfast tables should have flexible that is people sitting where they wanted depending on when they came down. The views were lovely but our table for 3 days was far away from the window.

Review 10:Lovely staff and very good food.

Review 11:What a beautiful location! A traditional hotel, very English, very comfortable too. We had an excellent dinner of sole in the bar area and are looking forward to a return visit.

Review 12:the only thing I didn't like is the road to the property is single track and no one gave way at anytime which meant I had to reverse more times than I went forward!

Review 13:loved the friendly staff, and the breakfast and the beautiful views and peace and quiet- great for walking !

Review 14:Photo on the website of the room was misleading. The bed looked modern, bright and clean. When I got in the room the furniture was tired, old and in need of update. The lino was old and worn in the shower room. Cobwebs etc. The last single room was above the kitchen so it was noisy from 7ish onwards. I spoke to the hotelier about this but the Wednesday morning, you could still hear, what i assume was the chef, and thngs being moved about especially the cutlery draw! I immediately packed my bags and then left. I was not charged for the final night.. which is a good thing. Prosecco at £5 a glass, felt was expensive in a place like that. Also it was not explained at booking that the hotels was quite a way down a single track road... which having a new car made every trip out /in a concern.

Review 15:It was walking distance of the lovely beach and the walks to and from places was excellent.

Review 16:One of our meals was poor it had a piece of fish and a pieces of walnut on the plate when neither should of been there, the meal was replaced and a apology given but still charged.

Review 17:Dog friendly and Great location and friendly staff.

Review 18:there could probably be a little walking trail map. the handout had some instructions but I couldn't really follow the loop trail by the description.

Review 19:the location

Review 20:I booked a single room and booked late which would have restricted the rooms available to me. But it was a very cramped room. The double bed took up most of the room and there was an exceptionally tiny area for a sink and shower. This reduced my enjoyment of my stay but I accept if I had booked earlier there would have been more choice of rooms.

Review 21:It was a very nicely situated hotel with distant views of the sea across fields. The owners and staff were very friendly and the restaurant was good.

Review 22:Overall the decoration in the room is a bit dated and needs a refresh

Review 23:Location is really nice - stunning walks straight from the door. Great bar menu.

Review 24:Poor tv signal probably due to location.... that's life

Review 25:Brilliant hotel great staff excellent food well situated with sea and countryside views will be back !!!

Review 26:Poor TV reception and wi go . But hey your on holiday relax !

Review 27:Great position lovely staff nicely decorated near the sea lovely. Drinks patio for summer overlooking the sea

Review 28:Our room was very small and cramped for the price.

Review 29:The location, food and attentiveness of staff were exellent and it is a very peaceful place to stay. The resturant and bars were comfortable places to relax.

Review 30:All very good

Review 31:Had Sunday lunch which I can honestly say was the best I have ever had in a restaurant. Absolutely beautiful. Hotel was very clean and staff could not be more friendly. Fantastic location and views from room was also very nice. Well done and we will be back soon.

Review 32:Not much, wifi was limited but I would think that was due to the physical location of the Hotel!

Review 33:This hotel did what it said on the can, so to speak. We needed to be in or near Eype for a funeral , over Monday and Tuesday. We needed an early breakfast in order to get to Yeovil and the hotel let us order the night before so it was ready sharp at 8.00 am. Delicious too! All together a very pleasant stay. Would like to come again in happier circumstances! Many thanks

Review 34:A dated property that is apparently being brought up to date in phases. Almost there.

Review 35:Perfect location for walking the coast path. Staff were particularly cheerful and attentive. Excellent breakfast. Dinner menu high quality and good value.

Review 36:Fixed price (£26) 3 course dinner menu looked attractive (and fair value for a large appetite) but offered no scope for a smaller selection (one or two courses), proportionately priced. Bar food was generally ok but contained overcooked (probably re-heated) vegetables at our early evening meal on the second day.

Review 37:Location, staff.

Review 38:The drive down to the hotel does involve single track roads but if you want relaxation and quiet then needs must.

Review 39:From the very first step into the hotel we knew it was going to be a great stay. They staff were lovely, chatty and very helpful. The room was comfortable with a sea view. Breakfast and the bar food was good quality and reasonable priced.

Review 40:Superior room has great sea view. Staff very helpful, attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them to sort out. Excellent packed lunches as well!

Review 41:The bed was a little soft for us and we are used to a firm king size bed.

Review 42:The lovely staff especially Amy. Fantastic location. Excellent food. Dogs welcome although we didn't have one on this occasion. So peaceful. Plenty of hot water.

Review 43:The location is stunning, lots of parking spaces, fantastic staff, friendly and helpful, good food, many walks directly from the hotel. We will be back.

Review 44:nothing

Review 45:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was really neat and clean and looked freshly decorated and well looked after. The breakfast was exquisite! Nice view of the sea and the countryside from the dining room. Quiet location.

Review 46:Pillows on bed were awful

Review 47:Excellent location lovely staff especially the young lad that served us at breakfast he had a lovely relaxed & friendly manner

Review 48:Entrance hall and bar area could benefit from updating, but this is a minor criticism.

Review 49:Good Breakfast and Evening meals. Freshly decorated room and bathroom.

Review 50:Bathroom - very, very small, almost a cupboard. Low pressure in shower, water trickled out.

Review 51:Very good breakfast Large car park Nice location and views

Review 52:The decor is a little dated in areas, although others areas are fresh and more contemporary.

Review 53:Well worth a visit. This little hotel is comfortable and staff very friendly. The food was more than I expected in terms of quality and choice of breakfast is great.

Review 54:The bedrooms are a little dated in the decor and furnishings, but this does not detract from the enjoyment of the hotel

Review 55:The hotel position and location Beautiful local views over the Jurassic coastline Excellent food and service

Review 56:Kettle was on shelf on wall to right of door into main bedroom-extremely dangerous height/location where young children could easily reach/accidentally knock. Family room attached to main bedroom. An accident waiting to happen

Review 57:quiet views peaceful

Review 58:No loo brushes Upstairs a little faded glory Due for a makeover on the first floor

Review 59:View,staff,food excellent Very friendly place to stay Dogs allowed

Review 60:There were no negatives for us.

Review 61:We took this booking rather by chance, and found the hotel and the location (for walking) both to be wonderful! If we were to be in this region in the future, we would happily return to your hotel. But it's a long way to the USA, and we may not pass this way again.

Review 62:My single room's bathroom which is in need of total refurbishment. It is minute in size and it will be a real challenge to make it up to standard. If it was not for the bathroom the score for the comfort would be excellent instead of good. Having said that everything in it worked.

Review 63:Staff efficiency, friendliness and courtesy; the launge/terrace; proximity to beach. Breakfast was excellent, and the waiting staff demonstrated genuine interest in providing excellent service. The welcome on arrival was also excellent. The bed was great. I would stay here again

Review 64:Road access is very tight and not very well signposted.

Review 65:Really excellent, well cooked food nicely presented. Location gave views to die for. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Review 66:Wifi somewhat patchy, but appreciate its availability via the hotel

Review 67:Very helpful and friendly staff as well as the location on the gorgeous Jurassic coast

Review 68:Only one window in our room opened, from the bottom and not very far. Add the very hot weather during our visit and the room became very stuffy overnight, making sleep difficult for both of us.

Review 69:Beautiful location, excellent staff, generally good food (excellent breakfast), room had bath and shower, everything worked.

Review 70:We booked the last vacant room available in the hotel, which was okay, it had a lovely view of the sea, however we found the ensuite a bit too small for us and needed updating, but that would not stop us from returning again, but booking earlier and hopefully getting a better room next time!!

Review 71:This hotel/b&b is a quiet, well run, hotel. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and hospitable!! There is nothing to dislike! The views from the hotel are beautiful, and the food was outstanding!! Breakfast and dinner in the evening were great. Lots of choice and well presented! We would not hesitate to recommend the family run hotel to travelers, and will be returning in the near future!!

Review 72:Perhaps a 2nd shampoo/shower gel in the room.

Review 73:Nothing was too much trouble. The room was perfect, view lovely, location quite and calming, food lovely. We asked for hake and requested potatoes, capers and samphire which was not with this particular menu item but was changed for us. It was beautiful.

Review 74:The stunning location among leafy lanes, sheep dotted meadows with views and walks along the cliffs. Our lovely light filled room. The friendly and helpful staff who made the difference. Lots of dogs!

Review 75:A smaller sized portion at dinner would have been appreciated.

Review 76:Local knowledge of staff and their extreme helpfullness. Nothing was too much trouble. The dinners were tasty and very well presented.

Review 77:Not a dislike - but be prepared to navigate narrow lanes down to the hotel. It's all part of the charm!

Review 78:Location is really tucked away, the accommodation is the largest but very comfortable, breakfast is excellent and staff very helpful. Take a walk down to the beach in the morning - beautiful. My second visit so something must be right!

Review 79:Nothing

Review 92:Staff attitude not consistent - some friendly others unhelpful .

Review 104:Bedding too hot, a sheet under the duvet would be preferable in summer

Review 105:Excellent service and food

Review 106:Whilst the single room bathroom was very clean it was a bit of a squeeze.

Review 107:The venue, location and staff.
