Reviews for Moreton Park Hotel
Review 1:was not happy that payment was taken for room on my arrival, without asking me, as wanted to pay with another card. i was to understand that payment would not be taken till check out.
Review 2:Mold in shower, must have been there along time, such a shame as only complaint and could have easily been dealt with.
Review 3:very friendly staff, good sized comfortable rooms, excellent breakfasts.
Review 4:Strong smell in room 39 in day room first thing coffee machine empty would not return to this hotel.
Review 5:Pub food and service was great and the garden centre.
Review 6:Had a problem with noise from next room couple arguing and banging doors till 2.30am.it subsided when someone must have complained a call was made to room. Saved me as I was about to go to reception.
Review 7:Convenient to local towns lovely part of the world. ☺☺
Review 8:Cobwebs on light clearly visible Exceptionally uncompfortable bed with one side lathes falling out, sinking mattress and centre bed divide making opposite half appear higher. Very poor nights sleep.
Review 9:Good location for our purpose. Easy access to local pub and polite staff in there.
Review 10:Christmas Eve @ 20:10 and after a dreadfully long, wet and arduous journey from Herts, how lovely to receive such a genuine, warm and friendly welcome from Eileen who showed us such kindness and total professionalism during our 3 night stay. Night Reception and the Housekeeping ladies were also lovely - we even got a call an hour after leaving advising us of personal goods left in the room: we were so impressed with the level of customer care. It is this kind of personal touch which really matters in business and I truly hope Moreton Park Management values and recognises the excellent service their staff are providing. I loved the mezzanine family room - both single mattresses in room 8 were fabulously firm and comfortable; the duvets and pillows were scrupulously clean, crisp and smelled gorgeous; there was even a guest lounge serving vending coffee with some festive food for all on Boxing day (pm). All in all, a very comfortable, quiet and enjoyable stay - and great value for money. Thank you! I wish everyone at Moreton Park Hotel a very, very happy and prosperous New Year. x
Review 11:Christmas Day breakfast atmosphere not very festive. Poor chef was on his own, staff didn't turn upon hadn't appeared by 8am. Chef put music on at my suggestion.Carvery food on C Eve plentiful but not HOT!
Review 12:Excellent room,friendly reception staff.
Review 13:The corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. The staff didn't appear bothered when we told them upon checking out
Review 14:The room was perfect for a family room very nice
Review 15:Breakfast was not included in the price, as we first thought.
Review 16:The beds were most comfortable and clean although it could be noisy if the windows were opened.
Review 17:Everything the room was immaculate and the food at the restaurant was second to none although waited a while for food to come out to us was well worth the wait and reasonably priced the staff were so friendly will definitely book again
Review 18:Shame we couldn't use the lion quays pool this time as on previous occasions so felt price could have reflected that more
Review 19:Loved the room, so much space and a comfy bed
Review 20:Very pleasant and comfortable room with excellent facilities for my disabled mother. Only slight draw back was the walk for breakfast, however once there the food was hot and of a good standard.
Review 21:Noisy main road to the back of the hotel, which never stopped. just needs secondary glazing fitting to cut down the traffic noise.
Review 22:Close to Chirk Castle, and surrounding area. Large room over two floors.
Review 23:Reception area and hallways quite run down, bit of a strange atmosphere to place.
Review 24:The pub attached was good, staff friendly, food lovely. Nice environment.
Review 25:Tad expensive at over 60 for just for a few hours stay just to sleep 2am - 10am ,couldn't book anywhere else , but will consider a stay again :)
Review 26:Lovely room , stayed for a night , good amount of space to get ready in , used this hotel to stay in before comic con
Review 27:I do not like sofa. It is so old and dirty. That are not shampoo, soap or so.
Review 28:I like the Resturant and the food. I like the bed, sheets, dressing table. Room was very clean.
Review 29:Very poorly decorated with tiny television in room. Badly operated key lock as the card machine had broken. Leaking tap in bathroom, poor quality soap dispenser. Self service breakfast inedible, told the staff who did nothing, just carried on with the Christmas decorations
Review 30:Have stayed here before, and is a convenient location for North Wales. It is also very handy having a restaurant and bar adjacent. Bar serves two good local real ales
Review 31:Only comment would be that our cooked breakfast could have been warmer - otherwise all good!
Review 32:Check-in was quick and easy. Rooms as requested and adjacent. Rooms very comfortable, warm and clean, plenty of hot water. We were meeting family ( halfway point) for a pre- christmas catch up. We had a very nice meal in the Lord Moreton, very relaxing and staff were great! Did the same last year and will probably repeat again.
Review 33:The bed was a bit too soft for me, I felt like I was sinking.
Review 34:The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large, very clean and well equipped. It was easy to get to lots of interesting places with being so close to the A5 and a roundabout.
Review 35:If we had to say anything it would be that the bed mattress was a little softer than we are used to!
Review 36:Whole set up very good. Nice to have the attached restaurant. Staff were excellent
Review 37:Straightforward and simple - it offered everything that one required. It was super clean! The staff were super helpful! The Lord Moreton bar/restaurant next door was very good for the money too and also an excellent breakfast!
Review 38:-On arrival I had no hot water for a shower but the next morning it was fine. - The pub attached to the hotel was seemingly run by teenagers who were struggling with the amount of customers. Service was slow at best.
Review 39:The saying you get what you pay for sums up this hotel. It's basic with very limited facilities, but was clean, warm and fine for a night. The staff were efficient but not particularly welcoming. All in all, for the price, it was fine.
Review 40:Paid £6.50 each for breakfast .but people not staying in the hotel paid only £5.95 according to the notice on the wall where we ate .why the difference ,not much i know .
Review 41:Great room, good for family with teens ,loved the layout .
Review 42:Hotel o.k restaurant poor staff incompetent and stupid could not think for themselves food over cooked and cold food better on second night staff not much better
Review 43:Stayed a few times before great value for money easy access and safe parking disappointed with restaurant as we had eaten there before and it was very good
Review 44:The head housekeeper named val came to inspect the rooms and was very helpful, under no circumstances should those 2 beds have been made up for someone else to sleep on they were a health hazard and only fit for the skip ! We were given a discount but will nit be going back . Must give praise were its due the breakfast was the best we have had .
Review 45:The first room we stayed in was horrific! I had to turn mattress as it dipped so bad only to find massive urine stains that had soaked through to base, the other bed was worse , we was moved at 9 0 clock at night in our nightwear, moved to a larger family room which was still dirty downstairs.
Review 46:Difficult to find on a dark wet night did not realise we shd have looked for a garden centre. Arr much later than expected no food available. Bed in bedroom collapsed on 1 side and 3 springs sticking up
Review 47:It was short stay thank goodness
Review 48:nothing of note, bed just a little soft for personal preference but slept like a log!
Review 49:staff very friendly and helpful, room clean tidy and in good order, food in resturant excellent and breakfast buffet very good with excellent attentive staff.
Review 50:I had to pay more for a family room just for the 2 of us as it was the only room available and it faced the car park which was noisy on Saturday night. The hotel seemed to be full of Romanian/Polish workmen but they weren't a problem.
Review 51:The family room was very comfy.
Review 52:The breakfast arrangements in the separate restaurant. The charges were mis-leading and the cooked breakfast was cold every morning despite my complaints.
Review 53:Great location for trips around North Shropshire and Wales.
Review 54:Smokes on the seat outside the entrance. No seat to be able to sit in the garden in the sun
Review 55:On arrival I was very ill, we were given access to a room earlier. All staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 56:Cooked breakfast not served before 8am on a Sat; had to leave early so opted for so-called 'continental' breakfast. Diabolically poor and limited food selection, e.g. cling-film wrapped croissants like rubber bags and blood temperature yoghurts. Dinner better, but don't expect decent portions or anything much more exiting than basic pub grub.
Review 57:Accommodation good for a very fair price. Bedrooms good size and clean; plain but pleasant enough. Bed really comfortable.
Review 58:Breakfast was sold as part of the room on booking in at 59, whereas we knew rooms were 44 and full breakfast 7.50. Let it ride as we thought we wanted breakfast anyway, then the price advertised in the restaurant was 5.95 !??
Review 59:Lovely spacious room, good bed and pillows. Very convenient to Chirk after narrowboating
Review 60:Decor is a bit tired, wallpaper peeling and sofa had a small burn. Couldn't easily close blind in vellux window, as no pole provided. Quite expensive for the quality.
Review 61:Great and helpful staff at hotel and restaurant. Comfy bed.
Review 62:We arrived after a long day travelling - over 11 hours - to find that all food was stopped at 21:00hrs. The bar/restaurant supervisor wasn't sympathetic to our needs and even refused to make a sandwich for us. We had to get a taxi to the nearest town (round trip cost us £20 alone) and the only available eatery was an Indian. Needless to say we were very disappointed at the closing time of the hotel restaurant, but, moreover, we were extremely upset that the staff would not help get us some basic food after out long trip to the hotel.
Review 63:The Hotel reception staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 64:Breakfast on both mornings was cold & poor choice. Not worth the money.
Review 65:friendly staff. Nice lounge area with coffee & settees. \Nice to have a choice of mug or cup in room.
Review 66:Very close to all the local 'must do's'. Staff quite friendly & went out of their way to be helpful. Spacious comfortable room. No stairs & lots of parking!
Review 67:Was in a disabled room that felt like a care home.Room had a musty smell and so did towels.Sheets didnt fit the bed ,too small and breakfast was poorquality iingredients swimming in grease
Review 68:Super Size Family room with mezzanine bedroom, plenty of space for kids with their baggage & two tv's. Great position for local tourist visits. Lord Moreton Pub next door child friendly, Sky Sports & serve food till late.
Review 69:Noise at night from main road and traffic all night long could do with some noise reduction disappointed with room facilities ie soap dispenser not working properly no refinements , at the price not good expected more , same facilities at a Travel lodge inns but not as costly
Review 70:nothing to add
Review 71:Difficult to find, although just off A5. Sat Nav missed it and it is not visible or signposted on roundabout.
Review 72:Nice big room. Friendly welcome. Good food next door. Close to Chirk Marina.
Review 73:was disappointed that swimming was not available in the lion quays resort And children's play area had been closed down.
Review 74:The family rooms are great space to stay in spread over two levels Comfortable large bed clean bedding Clean baby cot and bedding Very spacious
Review 75:Bit tired. Needs updating and decoration. Lick of paint. No play area for the kids so wandered down to the Poachers so didn't get to try the food at the pub.
Review 76:Good location. Great value for money. Comfortable. Friendly.
Review 77:Staff on reception were really surly and unhelpful. The rooms had been block-booked for a wedding but we couldn't check in until 3pm. There was no facility to store luggage in the meantime. Vegetarian options at breakfast was fairly bland. Pastries were horrible.
Review 78:We had a room with a mezzanine level, so there was lots of space.
Review 79:We do not nitpick and we would have to do to find any nonexistent faults
Review 80:We were well recieved and completely satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort of the room provided. unlike previous comments we had no problems with noise and we would stay there without fail on future occasions
Review 81:The fact we had to pay £37.50 extra because we'd got two adults in rooms! (This didn't include any meals) but when we got to the room it was only ready for one - ie towels, biscuits etc.
Review 82:Room was spacious & the mirrors were good.
Review 83:Nothing we didn't like.
Review 84:Plenty of space in room, especially as it was on two levels. Large comfy bed. Much less traffic noise than during our previous visit as we had a room facing away from the busy A5. The even numbered rooms face away from the main road which means that they have much less traffic noise than the odd numbered rooms.
Review 85:The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It was lumpy and we were both pushed into the middle like a wedge. On top of this as soon as you fought to find somewhere bearable to sleep, you woke up ten minutes later sweating profusely as there was a plastic cover on the mattress that wouldn't allow the skin to breathe. We also found the room stuffy, opening the window was not an option as the A5 traffic noise was unbearable. The staff improved the bed slightly for our second night stay, by removing the plastic cover and turning the mattress around. The soap dispenser in the shower didn't work without hitting it, not that it made any difference as the content of it didn't lather up at all.
Review 86:The food was ample, the quality was just ok.
Review 87:We enjoyed our stay staff very friendly, food was great and good value as you get 10% of if staying in hotel , location is perfect this was our second visit to this hotel and we will return .
Review 88:Rather thin walls, I could hear everything also the TV would not get channels 1,2 or 3. The rule of no meals in the room, we have a grandchild with a peanut allergy so eating out was not an option. We ended up going out and eating a sandwich in the car.A bin upstairs would have been useful.
Review 89:I liked the layout of the room, the mezzanine floor was a hit with the grandchildren.
Review 90:I had a long wait at the carvery for my food - even though I was the only one in the queue! The staff could not make a floater coffee as they didn't know you had to put the sugar in first and allow it to dissolve to stop the cream sinking. The bed base was stained, and the room was very dated looking
Review 91:The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is very good for the venues I was attending The car park is huge and there's no problem parking
Review 92:Nothing in particular. Just an overnight stay so not tried out other facilities.
Review 93:Great booking follow up, my son's extra bed was already made up when we arrived.
Review 94:Thought the TV much too small for the room also the reception poor as picture kept breaking up. No shampoo in the bathroom or shower cap.
Review 95:Location was good for our ongoing journey to Holyhead and also our visit to Chirk castle
Review 96:Traffic noise was tiresome and made it hard to sleep.
Review 97:Comfortable Hotel, nice sized room, good food, reasonably priced. Staff were very helpful throughout the hotel.
Review 98:It's a real shame that the hotel no longer has use of the spa facilities at the hotel across the road as this was a real plus to staying there. Having said that it's a decent hotel at a decent price so can't grumble too much.
Review 99:The rooms are very generously sized so you don't feel as if you're staying in a box. The tv has a built in dvd player if you need to make use of it, although none available to borrow. Meals are available in the adjacent Lodge which are good value with good selection of food.
Review 100:The location of the hotel. The bedroom was very comfortable and a good size. The bathroom was also excellent. Appreciated the opportunity make tea/coffee.
Review 101:The only complaint was that there water in the flask for cups of tea was not hot enough. Lake warm tea is not nice.
Review 102:Friendly staff. Comfortable bed and very clean room. Price excellent . Good value for money.
Review 103:Very close to major road - room was boiling hot at night but unable to have window open due to traffic noise. Also there was a continuous 'roaring' machine-type noise which seemed to come from overhead - maybe ventilation system or water tank? - which went on until about 2.30am. Even earplugs couldn't block it out and consequently didn't get much sleep.
Review 104:Quite a large room, reasonable furniture and decor. Beds comfy.
Review 105:Standard shower gel & shampoo in one. TV a bit on the small side and reception on it not very good, especially on the second night of stay.
Review 106:Very comfortable bed
Review 107:Lord Moreton Pub took far too long (40 mins) to bring our evening meal and breakfast was very poor. we complained and breakfast cost which we didnt originally book, was refunded
Review 108:lovely rooms, really comfy bed, no complaints about the stay whatsoever.
Review 109:No bad experience
Review 110:The staff are very friendly and we were upgraded to a superior room at no extra charge. My husband was in the local hospital and the staff were all concerned which was really nice
Review 111:Poor quality squeaky and creaky bed base with overly soft mattress forced me to sleep on the sofa bed instead. It had more support and didn't creak at the slightest movement.
Review 112:Location of hotel was good with Lord Moreton Pub next door for food. Plenty of parking. Twin family room was a good size and light and airy.
Review 113:very long wait for drink, then meal, having been seated in restaurant for half an hour the drinks eventually arrived after three enquiries as to where they were! Restaurant understaffed.
Review 114:The room location. We asked for a quiet room and where put on the side were the busy road ran was unable to open windows because of the noise of the traffic. All so we had the passageway door wright by our room.
Review 115:Everything except the room location. Everything else was perfect thank you.a
Review 116:Very spacious mezzanine rooms, staff all friendly, food is very good (dinner) and far better than the generic grub at the poachers inn over the road and far better value
Review 117:Breakfast could be improved. Could have been hotter and staff could have been more attentive. Pillows a bit lumpy.
Review 118:Being able to open the bedroom windows properly.
Review 119:excellent communication with member of staff - AJ - she was very helpful to us and the rest of our party. we had a few questions/changes before our stay - nothing was too much trouble for AJ to sort out for us all - we were held up arriving due to traffic, speedy check in when we finally arrived, /out on the Sunday morning. Had supper the 1st night at the Moreton - good food, great service.
Review 120:Pre booking experience relating to the change of ownership Poor choice and comparatively costly evening meals A room caught fire whilst we were at Moreton Park Cobwebs on the hard to reach places A look of neglect with paint and woodwork looking tired Poor security CCTV etc Very poor WiFi reception No children's play area No access to the baths and spa Ripped and damaged sun shades Damp and bad smell from the carpets At best this is a two star facility not three
Review 121:Size of the rooms Valet service Breakfast
Review 122:Had asked for a quiet room. The room we had was almost facing the pub entrance. The noise from the traffic kept us awake for most of the night. We asked on arrival if we had been put in a quiet room and reception said yes.
Review 123:It's next to a garden center, so had a good wander around.
Review 124:on a previous visit the hotel had full use of a swimming pool for free and the pub had a children's play area where they could play for free while staying in hotel. This visit the swimming pool was no longer part of the hotel and the play area had closed down three weeks before even the park outside had been shut due to safety issues.
Review 125:The hotel room was lovely with athe bedroom upstairs. Shower was powerful and the breakfast was really nice and was refilled freshly often: )
Review 126:Our blind on shutter didn't stay shut ,staff were great using tape to try and keep it down ,but didn't work.Room too bright without blind over sky light .5 am sun not good!! Road noise also at times loud ,when motorbikes went past.Shame as hotel and staff were good.
Review 127:Like the fact the parents bed was up stairs ,but still near if kids needed us.Good location to tour wales or visit Chester zoo.Pub next door was good for evening meal after being out all day.Staff were very helpful about problem with blind ,call us to discuss moving rooms ,but was out for the day .So used tape.
Review 128:I found a large stain on my duvet cover just before checking out. It was only visible on turning the duvet back but cannot possibly have been missed by the staff. The rooms on the road side can be noisy: good ear-plugs are essential if you don't want to be awoken early by traffic accelerating away from the roundabout. Breakfast is an entirely DIY affair, including use of a coffee machine and a rather slow toaster that quickly generates a queue. We dined there one evening and the special (duck) was very good, but expect a noisy 'family friendly' environment. The hotel is some way from Chirk so if you want to dine there rather than at the hotel you'll have to drive.
Review 129:The hotel is located close to a major roundabout on the A5. It has ample parking and is modern and well-equipped.
Review 130:We arrived at 2pm (check in 3pm) but I had rung and was told we would probably get in 10-15 minutes before that. We were due at a Diamond Wedding party at 3.30 and had travelled down from yorkshire so wanted to get changed. Woman on reception was totally unhelpful stating we would have to come back at 3pm no chance of any earlier. Some friends were also staying there on same floor and said all rooms were done, friend mentioned to reception next morning and was told that yes all rooms were done and we should have been let in earlier
Review 131:Price was good Bed was fantastic Breakfast was good
Review 132:All fab except the room smelled of cigarette smoke an Tv didnt work upstairs...but passable for one night.
Review 133:Loved the style and layout of the family room. Good breakfast and evening meal at the restaurant. Would definitely recommend
Review 134:The beds were a bit old and squashy.
Review 135:The staff the morning we left We're extremely helpful, letting us store our baggage for a few hours after check out time. Our train was not until the afternoon. This was very much appreciated.
