Reviews for Hôtel Cézanne Boutique-Hôtel
Review 1:Although the breakfast is good, its value is exaggerated
Review 2:Location, friendly staff, free coffee machine at the corridor, excellent room, cleanliness, design
Review 3:Annoying sewage smell on the toilet even though it was clean (probably coming from the pipes), expensive breakfast and some fixtures seemed a little old (crack on shower floor, chipped mirror...).
Review 4:Walking distance from Cours Mirabeau (7min), clean rooms, good bed, amenities in the toilete and free non-alcoholic beverages in the room, cordial staff.
Review 5:Breakfast for 20 euros per person! Crazy.
Review 6:The location was perfect for walking to old town. We were able to park in a secure garage and getting in and out by car was very easy. The room was very nice; bathroom great!
Review 7:I definitely recommend this hotel. The location is a short walk from the center of town. They offer free drinks from the mini bar in your room. There is a free Nespresso coffee maker on every floor. They upgraded us to a suite at no charge. Great shower and bath facilities. You can open the Windows for fresh air. They will help you with your luggage or you are welcome to take care of it yourself. We had a car. The parking garage is very close and reasonable parking charges.
Review 8:non
Review 9:nice staff giving good advise and so helpful. great location, very convenient to go Mirabeau or bus station. the room is fashion and confortable and can have a coffee at each floor.
Review 10:It's just out of the main tourist areas, therefore guaranteed good nights sleep in this vibrant university town. The staff were amazing, friendly, informative, and went out of their way to be super attentive. Recommend restaurants both nights and both were spot on in the food and price. From the breakfast waitress to the concierge. We upgraded to a junior suite and it was so worth it for space and a bath.
Review 11:Noisy inside. Very expensive all round, including breakfast, but cafe round corner good for b'fast. Aix generally seems extraordinarily expensive for some unknown reason.
Review 12:Great location. Secure car park close by.
Review 13:Junior suit was a large room with an arm chair! Breakfast at 20 Euros was steep for what was available.
Review 14:Excellent location; wonderful staff. Special mention to the receptionist and the wonderful lady in charge of breakfast
Review 15:Staff were very nice to deal with and helpful at all times. Honesty Bar in reception is a nice touch. Coffee machine on every floor so you can grab a cup whenever you want. Very central location , close to everything.
Review 16:The rude receptionist - we were told when asking for our room key that we did not have a reservation - twice- but we had already checked in and our luggage was in our room. She did eventually find us but no apology. We asked the same girl to book a table at the L Opera restaurant - she flatly said that there was no such restaurant (we had a very good meal there later). Later we overheard a resident asking if he could extend his stay as his wife had been taken into hospital - he revived a flat 'no' - no offer to help find somewhere ...
Review 17:One of the reception staff was excellent, however the other one was rude and unhelpful. Weird the free soft drinks and coffee machines, also the honesty bar.
Review 18:Not a bad experience but wish we could get english tea first thing a.m.!
Review 19:hotel was in easy brisk walking distance of most facilities including Restaurants, Museums, Shops, Tourist Information Office. Ambiance excellent, breakfasts great, staff first class even when we could not access our room!
Review 20:Nothing. Everything was great.
Review 21:Everything! We had a great stay and would highly recommend this hotel. The staff was friends and helpful, the room wa clean and comfortable and,as a bonus, they have nespreso machines on every floor that all guests are free to use.
Review 22:not a bad experience but breakfast was expensive..... Difficult to adjust temperature on cooling so we turned it off.....
Review 23:Excellent location........rooms very quiet....
Review 24:Reported broken shower, clogged drain, no bathrobes as promised, brokenlock to private patio, no blankets, could not control air conditioningand heat, poor WiFi reception, no coffee in room. Reported all of thisto hotel manager and he said, sorry but nothing that I can do. Frontdesk said we are 100% booked. Many service failures. Will be filing agrievance with credit card company.
Review 25:Nothing really. We'd definitely go back there again. Would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room but that's probably a 'British' thing. Coffee was available free at all times from a machine.
Review 26:Within a short walk of the town centre, restaurants etc. Really clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. Parking also available.
Review 27:The parking spaces are ridiculously small in the tiny, cramped garage, made even worse by other cars not staying within their painted lines. Also expensive at 17 Euro per day.
Review 28:Lovely hotel in great area, a short walk to the center. Very nice and helpful staff.
Review 29:Eggs Benedict at breakfast need a re-work.
Review 30:Complimentary Nescafé on every floor, and water and soft drinks in room fridge. Honor bar downstairs. Staff helpful and friendly. Cheerful decor.
Review 31:As all Nespresso machines were out of order (Coffee machines are in free use on floors), my friend asked for a coffee with milk at breakfast room. We were charged for that. Not serious issue at all ;-) but still, I wanted to mention it.
Review 32:Free coffee machines. Self-service bar. Nice large rooms. Lovely staff.
Review 33:we had modern 4 poster bed. However, it was easy to bump into post, especially in middle of night. Not cheap for fairly small room.
Review 34:Pleasant staff, good location, tasteful room, quiet room, good breakfast.
Review 35:A great hotel, our room was very smart modern designer style with lots of room for suitcases, the staff were helpful and the hotel was a short walk to the centre. We hope to return. Highly recommended.
Review 36:Wifi doesn't really work. The patio was not as nice as it appears in the photo.
Review 37:Hotel was nice and clean, staff is very friendly and helpful. There is free Nespresso coffee, which was a huge plus for me. Location is good, very easy access to the old town in Aix.
Review 38:The breakfast looked good ,but we thought expensive at Euro 20 per person . We are small breakfast people. If one wanted just toast or croissant coffee or tea it was still E20.00
Review 39:Staff were very helpful, the location was very central but out of the tourist hub. The room was very comfortable ,we would stay there again when we return to Aix next year.
Review 40:The WiFi was relatively slow and need to be reconnected too often
Review 41:The room - junior suit was very spicy with lots of day light. Very quite and yet, within 5 minutes walk to the city center and most of the attractions locations.
Review 42:Bathroom can be bigger. Breakfast should be included. Wifi needs to be reset every now and then.
Review 43:The cheapest room is quite comfortable and newly decorated, although the shower bathroom can be a little bigger. Amazing quality toiletteries products! Room looks over the street but sound proofing great so we can't hear the traffic. The best location in Aix.
Review 44:Well-appointed rooms with excellent a/c; fabulous shower (strong jet, easy to regulate, separate hand shower). Delightful staff always very willing to help. Useful secure car park.
Review 45:Great Hotel in every way, modern and quirky mixed with some period features I had the junior suite which was fabulous and spacious. All very good and also liked the 24/7 vend of any drink you like. I came home late, poured a glass of wine marked my tab on the top and it appeared on my bill.
Review 46:The only bump was that I booked a room for three that was not available at check in. I had to take a second room.
Review 47:Great location and very comfortable room. The staff was very helpful.
Review 48:Despite the air-condition, the room temperature stayed a bit warm.
Review 49:Friendly staff, good location, delicious breakfast buffet, free minibar. Having breakfast outdoor is refreshing.
Review 50:Higher price than we've been paying for similar standard accommodation.
Review 51:Comfort factor is high and features such as tea coffee and drinking facilities were excellent. Short walk from cafes and the Cours Mirabeau.
Review 52:The bathroom is lovely but tiny! I'm long limbed and had to step out of the bathroom to comfortably dry off. Try as I might (again and again) the internet did not work in my room - maddening and barely worked in the small seating area in the lobby. It worked a bit better in the aforementioned "business" room near reception. It's 2015. Should the internet be an issue?
Review 53:The hotel is on a quiet corner several blocks from Aix action but easily walkable, steps from the TER train station but a long haul from the bus station should you land at the TGV station about 15 km away. It's 35 euro taxi from the TGV station to the hotel. If you take the local bus (4 euro) from the TGV to Aix, you can catch a cab to the hotel for a few euro. The staff is very welcoming and even fun. They will hold your room key each time you leave. There are four computers for public use near reception around the corner from the honesty bar. An abundance of drinks are available for free in the room minibar - a thoughtful and meaningful touch.
Review 54:Attitude of Reception and Manager on arrival. Our booking for 1 double room for 1 night, printed out and shown to them, was disagreed with. The hotel said we had booked 2 rooms and argued and argued with us for about 15 minutes before finally showing us a room. The room was very cramped and so was the bathroom. No apologies were received from the staff for the disagreeable welcome.
Review 55:Location and free parking
Review 56:Nil
Review 57:What I liked most were the staff , everyone was knowledgeable and helpful . Some of the best ever. We also liked the hotel area in the front which was friendly.
Review 58:There breakfast was 20 euros which we decided not to partake of.
Review 59:It was centrally located and the facilities were very clean. They were also very helpful in getting restaurant reservations etc.
Review 60:I could only stay four nights.
Review 61:Friendly, professional staff. Massage heaven. Their chevre and honey omelette, made to order. Good location near everything but away from the noise. Comfortable, interesting room. Truly welcoming and friendly staff.
Review 62:Felt breakfast price was excessive. Found much better value on street. Hard to check-in as no street parking available. Should instruct guests to either use public parking garage or hotel lot...don't try to "just stop in front" as impossible.
Review 63:Appreciated access to business center with printer.
Review 64:Nice located, great staff and good rooms - I really liked the bed. Mini bar available for free and you also have an external area to make your own drinks
Review 65:The male staff in reception were extremely friendly and helpful. Very welcoming and politely interested in each of the customers. Really a very good experience here, would definitely come back.
Review 66:The breakfast is great but very expensive unless you eat huge amounts. Not good value. Our shower also leaked because the tray couldn't manage the amount of water it produced, and because the door wasn't a good fit.
Review 67:Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, plenty of cheap parking within a 5 minute walk. Very close to the centre of town. Free WiFi is good, and complementary mini bar with water and soft drinks is a nice touch.
Review 68:the staff was super friendly and also the location of the hotel was quite convenient to access to the city center. The rooms were nice and clean. If I would have to come back to Aix Ex Provence, definitely will stay at this hotel again. Great experience and highly recommend for travelers who are looking for a nice hotel to stay.
Review 69:The Nespresso machine was outside the room. So when you wake up to take your first cup of coffee you have to go out to the corridor. New press machines were someyi mm especially not working so had to go up or down one level.
Review 70:The staff was very helpful. They tried their very best to make you feel welcome and helped in every way.
Review 71:Toilet bowl is in a different location from main bathing area. Very inconvenient considering you have to wash your hands...
Review 72:Nespresso Bed Balcony Sofa
Review 73:We consider breakfast at 20€ per person overpriced. We had a cappuccino and croissant on a terrace near La Rotonde instead ;-)
Review 74:Friendly and helpful staff. Private secure parking nearby. Although the room did not look as nice as the ones presented on Booking.com (less bright, less 'special') we have no complaints. Everything spotlessly clean, wonderfully comfortable kingsize bed. Free nespresso coffee on each floor is much appreciated!
Review 75:Ideally located on the fringe of the city's best spots and with two public car parks close by (€15 a day), the Cezanne is ideally located. Staff are excellent, the room I had was impressively large by French standards, and the honesty bar is a nice touch. Would definitely return.
Review 76:Room was not that great for the money.we had a mini suite not worth the extra money breakfast way too expensive.honor bar convienent but too expensive
Review 77:Room was bright and bed very comfy
Review 78:I had a wonderful stay in the hotel. The staff was just adorable, and always plaisant and helpful. The place is nicely decorated, the breakfast is perfect.I like the honor bar. All they serve is very nice quality.
Review 79:The breakfast was very expensive, I ordered from the menu and both items were very poor quality. I couldn't eat them. My husband only likes coffee and a bit of toast first thing, so ended up paying 20€ for this. The Hotel needs to offer a coffee, juice and pastry at a reasonable price.
Review 80:Good location, underground carpark, Mignet is near by, which is useful if you have a large car. Costs 15€ a day.
Review 81:Pricey parking garage, though it was better than parking on the street and running out to pay every couple of hours.
Review 82:Friendly staff, coffee/tea/water included, comfortable, well-designed room with nice touches, such as original doors and windows overlooking terrace.
Review 83:All of it. Breakfast was awesome as well. Staff very professional. Junior suite perfect for three adults. Nice setting and feel. Walking distance to city and bus perfect.
Review 84:The front desk staff are often busy elsewhere.
Review 85:The woman who cooks the weekday breakfasts is an absolute gem - such wonderful omelettes! Nice, large room. Having a Nespresso machine at the end of the hall. Chocolates on the front desk.
Review 86:The heating in the room is set at 28 degrees and you cannot lower it. You can set the timer but its ridiculous ... its either boiling hot or its freezing and when i complained about it the receptionist said you can always switch it off !
Review 87:The place is very basic but decently decorated - minimal but nice
Review 88:Breakfast a bit pricey but lots of choices of freshly cooked food.
Review 89:Boutique hotel, quiet yet right in the centre of things, five minutes from the main square and all the action of the super cafes and restaurants. Staff were so charming and helpful. Breakfast is exceptional, free soft drinks in the mini bar, free cafe all day. Thoroughly recommend it!
Review 90:Lady in reception on arrival - unlike rest of lovely staff not interested in customers!
Review 91:Upgrade to suite, quiet, comfortable room. Close to town centre.
Review 92:Despite double windows street noise is disturbing. Rooms at the rear are quiet. Airco cooling was switched off making our front room unpleasantly warm
Review 93:Staff was very helpful explaining tourist destinations. Made it easy for us when we wanted to change room
Review 94:Not quite in the centre of the town but not too far to walk either.
Review 95:Staff recommended excellent hotels. The breakfast is fantastic - wide choice including freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly cooked eggs or pancakes if requested. Decor of the room is modern with comfortable beds.
Review 96:Bath room rather small and cold, shower door and shower bowl do not fit together, great lake on floor
Review 97:Location, great mixture of old an fancy new, breakfast ok
Review 98:There is not much negative to say about this hotel at all. If I had to be picky, I would say I did not like the presence of dogs in the hotel. There is a resident dog who frequently wandered into the breakfast room looking for food. I am not a dog person, so maybe this is just me being fussy. I did not know that dogs were welcome in the hotel and probably would not have booked it if I had known. Having said that all the dogs I saw were well behaved and hopefully they keep certain rooms for customers with dogs. There was certainly no sign of any dogs having been in our room. This would not stop me staying at the hotel again.
Review 99:The location was excellent and our junior suite was very comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. The honesty bar is an excellent idea and as far as we could see, not taken advantage of. The staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was excellent and served until midday which was a nice change as you could take your time in the morning if necessary.
Review 100:All good.
Review 101:Overall the staff went out of their way to be helpful- being friendly seemed to be natural. Time allowed for breakfast was innovative and the range was impressive.Coffee on tap and the honesty bar appealed to us.
Review 102:Nothing
Review 103:Very central location I was able to visit by foot the old city of Aix, near Cours Mirabeau. The location of the hotel is excellent. An "honesty' bar open all hours and Free expresso on every level, lovely . The breakfast was not cheap but I would recommend without hesitation, delicious. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 104:nothing
Review 105:friendly welcome from all staff members Wonderful breakfasts prepared by a lovely chef (lady)..... who obviously loved food and sharing her experience and dishes. Superb to have met her.
Review 106:Lift very slow and no tea available for self service. When tea requested however it was provided willingly.
Review 107:Some staff extremely pleasant and helpful. One most unhelpful. Room spotless.
Review 108:The bed was rock hard, which I'm sure some people will like, but it just gave me a stiff back. Coffee machine on 1st floor was broken, but staff went immediately to fix it when notified. Main shower head was completely gunked up with limescale - there was however a smaller handheld showerhead which worked fine. Breakfast seemed, to me, to be very expensive at 20euro/person. It did admittedly look delicious, but you could buy a whole lot of croissants and coffee for that amount of money!
Review 109:The hotel was clean and staff were all extremely pleasant and professional. The room was perfectly adequate, but in the tradition of all french hotels, it is definitely on the small side. Shower had plenty of hot water and very (very!) strong water pressure. Free coffee was a nice touch but powdered coffee creamer would have been welcomed , and the business center with printer was useful. Terrace with an honour bar system was lovely and peaceful to sit in. Location is very good, about a 5 minute walk from Aix center, and 5 minutes from the bus and train station. Would definitely recommend to all.
Review 110:The room had a slight smell coming from the sink area, overcome by plugging the sink and tub.
Review 111:Friendly helpful staff, large room and pleasant environment, close to city center
Review 112:The location couldn't be better. It is within walking distance of everything. The rooms were very comfortable and quiet. We could leave The windows open at night and be bothered by the noise. The reception staff, breakfast room staff and cleaning staff were all exceptional. We would definitely stay here again.
Review 113:There was nothing that I disliked.
Review 114:I stayed at Hotel Cezanne for 12 days in August 2014 whilst at a French language school in Aix En Provence. My room was deluxe and extremely comfortable and very clean. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. Nothing was too much trouble. They were magnificent ! Each morning at breakfast there was a reasonable choice on the menu and staff treated me like family chatting to me in French and in English. There is a lovely peaceful terrace where one can have breakfast in the morning or a quiet drink in the evening. The hotel is situated in the centre, close to the train station and a few minutes walk to the bus station. It is ideally situated for everything including many restaurants. The fact that it does not have a restaurant for dinner, only for breakfast makes no difference due to the many restaurants nearby. The bar is an honesty bar. You take a drink and simply fill out a form and hand it to Reception. No problem ! The fridge in each room is replenished with mineral water and soft drinks daily and they are FREE along with the coffee machine on each floor. Hotel Cezanne was a haven to return to at the end of a day and I will definitely stay at Cezanne again when I return to Aix. I highly recommend it. Barbara- Harrow England.
Review 115:WiFi was a bit weak in the room.
Review 116:Lovely hotel, with truly wonderful staff, great location, nice breakfast options (though pricey). Couldn't have asked for more. Wish we'd had more time in Aix en Provence. Next time!
Review 117:Our bedroom was on the small side, although our travelling companions had a large room at the same price. We had a drink on the terrace before dinner. The terrace was very basic and drinks expensive.
Review 118:We could walk to all the tourist sites and good restaurants. Secure parking was available for a small charge. This is a modern hotel with all the conveniences and helpful staff.
Review 119:The staff were friendly but in that haughty kind of way the french do so well!
Review 120:An upgrade paved the way to a seamless stay. Open airy spaces to sit and recoup with decor a complement to the art history of the town. An "honesty' bar open all hours and Free expresso on every level meant a homely independent kind of stay. Every Icon was walkable.
Review 121:Not cheap but good value for money.
Review 122:Without exception all staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was not cheap but nevertheless outstanding value. Would recommend without hesitation.
Review 123:From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable .our luggage was promptly taken to room.the bed was so comfortable.the linen soft .the staff were so friendly and courteous .the breakfast was delicious .10/10
Review 124:What is announced as "de luxe room" for 2 guests, is essentially a small room, well suited for 1 guest. One chair, very small bathroom. Breakfast not very fancy, nevertheless 20 euro p.p. Parking limited capacity. Also beware: junior suite is in fact a normal double room...
Review 125:Location, close to town center. Quality of bedding. Noise-isolation.
Review 126:I requested and booked 2 twin beds and they gave me a double bed which is harder when you're traveling with a friend. The breakfast was very expensive and not included. Not located directly in the old city
Review 127:Cute hotel.
Review 128:Everything about this hotel was great The rooms were very spacious and comfortable The mini bar was free and there was a nespresso machine on every floor with free coffee, A first for us. The staff were very helpful Would definitely recommend this hotel
Review 129:No real dislikes - parking was tight in the garage but at least it had secure parking and Aix is very tight to drive in the old part.
Review 130:Good clean hotel with very helpful and pleasant staff. Liked the honesty bar in the lobby and the free minibar
Review 131:Very nice boutique hotel with a lot of character. The staff was polite and attentive. Breakfast on the terrace was charming. It's proximity to the town centre meant we could walk everywhere.
Review 132:Small parking. Even after reservation u don't get one. Nobody monitors how cars are being parked. Very disorderly. Somebody has to see how/who is parking
Review 133:Large room, very helpful staff and excellent location
