Reviews for Relais du Silence Le Jardin des Plumes

Review 1:Booked last minute due to a schedule change. What a special find. Of course, when I mentioned this to my travel agent she said she loves this place. Grounds, staff, food, lodging, location....all perfect. I am a seasoned traveller.

Review 2:The bathroom had a step up from the tub, toilet area to the sink area. Both my wife and I tripped on this a few times. This may be of concern to some.

Review 3:Staff, Location great. Room comfortable.

Review 4:Table lamp not working. Bed not made, sink not working. Hair in bathroom. Mentioned to staff but nothing fixed. Breakfast was average and restaurant at £100 per head over priced.

Review 5:Great location for visiting Monet's garden

Review 6:We felt that the hotel and the room charge was not good value for money

Review 7:The room was very comfortable and had a massive shower which was great. The staff were very friendly

Review 8:Bar there with no one to serve you. Didn't realize that the 14 euro breakfast included eggs, etc. Should have been told at check in

Review 9:Location was wonderful and room delightful. loved being able to get Monet's garden tickets for early entrance...

Review 10:Stairs are narrow. We were on a 3 week trip and had to downsize our clothes to a small bag in the car park suitable for one night..

Review 11:Great modern design for restaurant, lounge and rooms. The restaurant was excellent. The grounds are very pieceful and beautifully kept. The room was well appointed and comfortable.

Review 12:There were problems with the internet. Staff did everything to fix it but it was a system problem.

Review 13:Lovely, Upscale Country Inn. Dinner was Divine at the One Star Michelin Restaurant on site. They upgrade us to a suite as there were few people staying during the week before French Holiday. Very stylish Retreat. Breakfast was divine, the garden was delightful, staff did everything to make our stay comfortable. It was a short walk to Monet's Garden.

Review 14:Fabulous hotel! Beautiful room and gardens. So disappointed the restaurant was closed (it was Monday) but the hotel was quick to book is reservations at another place. Worth every penny.

Review 15:The room in a converted barn was stylish but impractical. Limited storage and privacy in the luxurious bathroom (it is screened off from the living area.

Review 16:The restaurant is outstanding.

Review 17:On the face of it our room / appartment was vey new and modern but we found the layout strange e.g. Hanging space for clothes in bathroom area.

Review 18:10 minute walk to Monet's gardens and museum. Lovely peaceful grounds.

Review 19:Suited us perfectly, so nothing to state

Review 20:Classy room and top restaurant which you expect to pay a bit more for. A 5 minute walk to Monets garden, you can get tickets and early entry arranged at the hotel. A small boutique style hotel with plenty of staff to assist you.

Review 21:The only negative was that the restaurant was closed when we were there. I guess we will have to go back so we can try it!

Review 22:Very nice room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with a giant shower. Close enough to walk to Monet's Garden.

Review 23:When visiting Monet's gardens, it's nice to be a bit off the beaten path (only five minutes away by foot), especially in a hotel with gardens of their own, a welcoming staff, and excellent food. A real treat.

Review 24:Service at the restaurant is a it slow. There were no shampoo, conditioner, etc. in the bathroom in the room, althought we were staying in the suite. Would be nice to have some little surprises in the room since we chose premium category.

Review 25:Place is charming with a beautiful indoors and outdoors, michlen restaurant is very tasty, breakfast is amazing and really cosy. We had an impression of being in our own country house. Staff is kind and friendly.

Review 26:Nothing...

Review 27:Splurged on last night of touring before a week in Paris and the money was well-spent. Rooms were very comfortable and approached 5-star levels of finish, though in a rustic way befitting the setting. Dinner was beyond good, you feel like you are eating an artistic creation. Breakfast was merely excellent...simple food prepared with superb ingredients. What's it worth? Costs about twice the more pedestrian places but a high point of our month in France, so therefore a bargain.

Review 28:While we don't mind quirky, a large bath tub in the middle of the room with no privacy, no shower (there was a shower head thing attached to the tub, which sprayed all over), the separate WC with no ventilation, and a huge wooden beam right next to the bed: a little too quirky for our comfort. Also, if not dining in the onsite restaurant, there really is nowhere to eat in the neighboring areas, and believe me we tried to find one!

Review 29:The staff was friendly, the room clean and modern, its proximity to Monet's house and garden was good.

Review 30:Terrible smell everywhere especially in the lobby, up the stairs & landings & in the room beside the bar - really clung to our clothes & difficult to bear. Don't know cause - old, musty, damp smell? Very unfortunate as it spoiled our stay. Overall very expensive especially the choice of wines - really not justified for a hotel of this standard. Disappointing stay

Review 31:Friendly helpful staff Comfortable bed & pillows

Review 32:Not enough rack or shelves for our luggage (we have 2 large suitcases)

Review 33:Friendly staff, bright and comfortable room, walking distance to Monet Garden yet away from the other tourist. Restaurant serves excellent french cuisine.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Jardin des Plumes is an extraordinary establishment. Our evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast the following day were delicious and very reasonably priced for the quality. We also received a free upgrade to a suite! The staff are so friendly and the grounds are beautiful and well cared for. If you are visiting Giverny or the surrounding areas, I cannot recommend JdP highly enough!

Review 36:Less than "complete" breakfast. Chairs in breakfast room too low for mature adults (65-ish). Breakfast tables TINY. Dinner menu not to our liking. Only one easy chair in room, although it would have easily accommodated two. The chair which is in the room is too low. Really need a luggage rack so luggage can be easily accessed without putting it on the bed.

Review 37:Beautiful garden. Accommodating staff. Fantastic shower. Spacious room.

Review 38:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The property is beautifully set within a garden setting. The property is comfortable and clean. The property is perfectly located to visit Monet's gardens and the surrounding attractions.

Review 39:This was the first place we stayed on our 2 wk trip to France and it is absolutely fabulous. The best staff, best coffee, best food. Walk to Monet's garden and other attractions. Nardia and her team are the secret to this hotel and the wonderful experience we had. Would deffinately stay again. Only an hour from Charles de Galle.

Review 40:Very uncomfortable, weirdly furnished and cramped breakfast room.

Review 41:Great room (especially the shower), lovely setting with beautiful garden and super restaurant.

Review 42:Bathtub in the room and no shower.

Review 43:We were given individual attention particularly in creating meals for me considering my multiple allergies. Staff was kind, caring and very friendly. A memorable stay.

Review 44:Hard as we try we can not find any fault with the hotel.

Review 45:We had a brilliant welcome from Quentin and as we were staying for three nights we were given a free upgrade which resulted in a superb room with plenty of room. Our meal at the restaurant was stunning and even though it appeared expensive the portions were excellent. The staff serving were also informative and friendly. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The breakfast was also very good with different food being offered each day. Our reason for staying at the hotel was to visit Monet's Garden and House plus the Impressionists Museum both of which were a few minutes walk away. We also followed the artists trail and went to the lovely Church and also went to see the Churchyard where Monet and his family were buried. There was plenty to see and do and despite the village being visited by thousands over the year the village still retains a village feel.

Review 46:Would have liked a shower as the bath was difficult to get in & out of as we are a mature couple

Review 47:Loved the friendliness of the staff & amazing attention to detail The restaurant was an experience we will always remember Top class cuisine

Review 48:Some of the staff were a little 'off' but the friendliness and amazing service of others meant we knew who to approach when we wanted a drink or had questions. It was a shame as it was the one thing that made the stay feel a little uncomfortable. It would be ideal if the top windows in the split-level studios could open just a crack as the aircon sounded like a plane taking off and it was really too hot with just the downstairs window open.

Review 49:AMAZING food, we could barely move after all the delicious meals we had there - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Very calm garden surrounds, lovely design throughout the house and studios.

Review 50:Very slow service at dinner - and limited choice on set menu. Extremely poor sleep as we could hear movement from room overhead into early hours, and also noise from road outside. NOT what we expect from a Relais de Silence!

Review 51:good location for visit to Monet's garden.

Review 52:Nothing !

Review 53:What a wonderful place to stay for the last night of our holiday. We had been in France for 4 wks touring & although we stayed in some lovely hotels, this was definitely the best. The staff could`nt do enough for you, making us very welcome. The room & the most comfortable bed, food fabulous and all in lovely grounds. Then to finish off, its 8 minutes away from Monet`s garden. Wonderful !

Review 54:No elevator, had to lug my suitcase to the second floor. Room did not have a shower

Review 55:Quiet grounds, very private. Great staff,. Excellent kitchen

Review 56:The location only because we arrived by train from Paris and waited over one hour for a taxi. So near and yet so far! Perhaps a more organized pick-up system. We felt very stranded!

Review 57:The staff could not have been more wonderful. Everything we mentioned, would happen gracefully. The setting was so peaceful, I wish we could have stayed longer. The grounds were like a country estate and my husband and I found so many lovely private spots.

Review 58:The food in the restaurant was over priced for what it was. More thought need to be given to the breakfast. Too much to soon.

Review 59:Very attractive hotel.Lovely garden. Room very comfortable. Staff very good. Wonderful situation.

Review 74:The Staff, The Hotel & The Food.

Review 75:Relatively expensive, does need some TLC

Review 76:Helpful staff

Review 77:Pretentious and over-priced restaurant

Review 78:We stayed in the annex. The accommodation while acceptable did not warrant the extra cost

Review 79:The hotel was in easy walking distance of the gardens

Review 80:Staffs are really helpful and willing to serve, good location and beautiful inside of room and outside garden. Hade a good dinner in restaurant.

Review 81:Famtastic hotel with super friendly staff. spotlessly clean and very comfy beds.

Review 97:The room, grounds and the staff

Review 98:Everything about this marvelous boutique hotel

Review 99:Lack of anywhere to hang clothes in bedroom.

Review 100:The suite was perfect in regards comfort and bathroom area. Restaurant was good with good service.

Review 101:food was too complicated and possibly trying too hard!

Review 102:Wonderful surroundings - the hotel interior and lovely gardens

Review 103:Leaving

Review 104:Everything

Review 105:I did not feel pricing was reasonable

Review 106:Very close to Monet's House New and excellent room

Review 107:Bath in the middle of the bedroom - totally impractical. Aggressively priced wine list.

Review 108:Everything except the 'designer' elements. Restaurant deserves its high reputation

Review 109:Although the room was stylish and spacious it needed a mirror with an electric plug nearby. Again the wet room looked good but lacked a soap dish in the shower area. Style of wash basin meant it couldn't be filled with water.

Review 110:Location of hotel. Had one meal in the restaurant which was good also the breakfasts.

Review 111:as per the other note, a closet or wardrobe in the room would be helpful. Also, the people above me made a lot of noise at night up to after midnight and the only number to call (for "emergencies") did not work. Everything else was perfect.

Review 112:The house is lovely with lots of spaces inside and out for lounging. Rooms simple but nice - the only improvement would be to have a real closet instead of lockers (?) The restaurant was one of the best I've ever eaten at - they were very accommodating of the fact that I don't eat meat, the meal was completely delicious. The last day when my taxi nearly didn't arrive due to a car malfunction they said they would drive me themselves if necessary, and waited with me until the taxi came, which was lovely. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Giverny! Be sure to reserve at the restaurant.

Review 113:Would have liked option to have room in the main building and the breakfast area was a little cramped,if you were last down you would be a little disappointed

Review 114:Wonderful location,great staff,who were very helpful.A memorable experience.Delicious food

Review 115:Computer access was limited to one connection only in our room.

Review 116:This hotel is located a short walk to Monet's garden. It is beautiful in a quite location except listening to the wonderful sounds of the birds in the tree tops. The gardens with outdoor settings are very attractive. Excellent, friendly service. Our room was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Would love to go back for another visit and would definitely recommend this most attractive hotel for people visiting the area.

Review 117:That we could not stay longer!

Review 118:A beautiful place to stay and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The staff was above excellent and went out of their way at every turn to make us comfortable. We hope to come back next year.

Review 119:17euros for some bread and butter and super-market plastic yogurt cups for breakfast. half of our party stayed in the main house, which was beautiful; however, I stayed in the detached building which clearly had a moisture problem---smelt like mildew. There was nowhere to put your suitcase or clothes, except 1-meter length lockers like you'd find in a youth-hostel. EXTREMELY unimpressed by these accommodations especially considering the cost per night. Seemed like they were trying very hard to be an upscale B&B and fell extremely short----but the price and their attitudes didn't. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND !

Review 120:On site restaurant was extremely good and the MAIN-HOUSE rooms were lovely.

Review 121:I was being warmly welcomed by Nadia just like a family member! I love it! The things that really touched me is that you always can get some surprise specially when you have you meal there! The wine recommended is perfect. The meal is creative and delicious, include with some wow surprise that you will never expected!

Review 122:The hotel was perfect. The crowds in the Monet's garden are a nightmare. Best to go there at the edges of the day (which makes a case for spending the night in an elegant hotel like Jardin des Plumes).

Review 123:The staff were welcoming and attentive. Even though I was a bit early, they arranged it so I could check in and, on my last day, lunch was fully booked (May Day), but they found me a space for a lovely lunch. The dining staff were great and the chef innovative. I enjoyed the 5-course dinner and recommended wines. The bed was comfy and, although a bit strange, the freestanding bathtub in the middle of the room, was quite elegant. It's just a short walk to the main street of Giverny, and having a hotel that's a bit separate keeps you away from the crowds that come for the day. I highly recommend seeing ALL of Giverny. In my past visits, I've only been to the gardens and the Impressionist museum. There is much more to see in this charming village.

The Fine Print

Please note that the restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday all year round.
