Reviews for The Boathouse
Review 1:Shower was not the most powerful but it was better than many. Glad that there were only two of us in the room as would have been pushed with three of us
Review 2:Very friendly staff and excellent central location overlooking the harbour. Very close to the fisheries museum and the chip shop!
Review 3:The room was a bit tired , for the £110 charged for one nights stay I was expecting much better. Breakfast was poor a filled roll in the ajoining Boathouse Café covered it.
Review 4:Location & view from the room was great.
Review 5:The stairs to the third floor tricky for someone with a gimpy knee
Review 6:The view from the room was lovely. The staff was warm and friendly and the fish and chips were about the best we have ever had!
Review 7:Could do with a big lick of paint and there were no light bulbs on quite steep and very dark stairs. Breakfast included in the cost would make such a big difference. Showers could do with a good scrubbing out.
Review 8:Staff were all lovely people. View brilliant. Location brilliant. Parking a little hard but can park up back streets no bother as we did for overnights.
Review 9:Two very steep flights of stairs and no handrail. Had to ask for teabags and sugar and not even a biscuit provided. Also you had to wait on the bistro opening at 1000 to buy a breakfast
Review 10:The views from window were brilliant
Review 11:It's is practically next door to the best Physio in the country, Stuart Barton whom two of the party of three came to visit for treatment from Dorset.
Review 12:No breakfast included. No room service ie bed making or cups cleaned. Door to bedroom requires attention as it sticks badly. Stone spiral staircase novel but tricky to negotiate.
Review 13:Great view of the harbour. Welcome drinks for both couples
Review 14:Mattress so thin was quite uncomfortable and wifi only worked in shared sitting room area and the one other guest complained about my son speaking to his father at 9.30pm!
Review 15:Great location, plenty of room and nice bathroom.
Review 16:Could do with a little more attention to cobwebs in nearly every room. Also described as B & B, which is not right because there was no breakfast.
Review 17:It was home from home and had everything, just wish they would tell you that on web site. E.g iron, hairdryer etc.
Review 18:taking a shower was a challenge. The walls are paper thin. Breakfast was NOT included.
Review 19:Location was awesome. Blane was lovely. The beer garden was excellent.
Review 20:At £99 for the night room only this was a "strong" rate but because of its position opposite the harbour I was prepared to pay for a fabulous view. The room was on the second floor and entered from the street up a 17th century narrow, steep winding staircase which had no bannister of any sort to help in case you overbalanced which my wife did. Decent lighting in the staircase would also have been a bonus
Review 21:Waking up in the morning and looking at the harbour. Room was a decent size and comfortable but overall the premises need some investment and a bit of TLC
Review 22:Occasionally noise from people on the street at night (may be people coming out of the pub for a smoke)
Review 23:Great sea view through large windows, central location
Review 24:Not do much things we didn't like but just pointers for others. Didn't really affect us but parking right outside is difficult. Not too hard to find a space about 5 minutes walk away. Music and noise from the pub downstairs went on til 11.30 on the Sunday night (not too late and the live music was fabulous) so something to bear in mind. My suggestion, do lots of walking around this beautiful place then you will be so tired you will drop off to sleep in the comfortable beds no matter what noise there is.
Review 25:Very comfortable clean room. We stayed in the triple studio - one double and two single beds - plenty of space. Lovely little seating area in the room plus access to bright lounge looking over the shore. Breakfast was not included but with discount given in their cafe it wasn't too much extra to get a roll and hot drink downstairs.
Review 26:Tea and coffee (only two cups of each) in room but no milk. Nothing was replenished the next day. No proper breakfast was available (only filled rolls and tea/coffee.)
Review 27:Friendly staff, very comfortable room.
Review 28:No breakfast available. At this price breakfast should be included. The bistro opened at 9:00 am to the public. Access is up a dimly light staircase and then an ancient spiral stone staircase without a handrail. Very difficult to carry heavy cases. Decor was outdated 1970s brown and beige with poor quality stained woodwork. The bed was hard and the duvet thick and heavy; maybe OK for deepest winter but not for summer.
Review 29:View from the window over the harbour
Review 30:Not bad but slightly disorganised for breakfast, added to the charm!
Review 31:The accommodation was superb, like your own wee flat. Best out of our holiday, which included a stay in a castle.
Review 32:Nothing to do with apartment, very busy Shore Rd for parking outside Boathouse, had to move car about because of restrictions when we were back at apartment, out most of the day didnt really matter.
Review 33:Loved the large bedsit room with wall mounted TV a double and two single beds, very nautical , lovely spacious communal kitchen, dinning room and lounge all amenities
Review 34:Walk in the door and you are given a warm welcome ,all staff ,including owner family very helpful ,room spot on ,nice to have a sitting room/kitchen where to relax, food excellent,we will be talking about the fish and chips until we return for more .Thanks for the perfect stay will see you soon ,Gary and Gilly.
Review 35:Access is not suitable for disabled or infirm. It is up two flights of stairs, the second of which is a spiral stone. Reception on arrival was rather lacking with inadequate information as to what applied to what rooms. Shared space is not properly thought out with cleaning not reaching the highest standards.
Review 36:The location is perfect with excellent views from the windows of the two rooms we had. The staff in the bar were very friendly and as helpful as they could be. There were plenty of places to get food which was not available as part of the deal. Parking is not anywhere as dear as the website indicates
Review 37:The bathroom was not finished - ceiling wasn't painted, no radiator, shower tray leaked. The doors did not shut properly and had to be banged. A lot of noise from pub downstairs. No heating on and was very cold on the first night until another guest figured out the controls on the landing which we were unaware of. Also were unable to check out in morning as no one was around.
Review 38:Nice view and good location. Café downstairs was very good and staff friendly.
Review 39:The bed was hard
Review 40:The situation is perfect. The staff are helpful. The food was very good (we didn't have breakfast as it started at 10 which was too late for us).
Review 41:No shower in the en-suite, only a bath. Windows at front were very draughty - ok for Easter, but wouldn't like to stay in the winter.
Review 42:Large rooms and great view of the harbour.
Review 43:The lights in the kitchen were not fully operational but this was not a big issue.
Review 44:We enjoyed the views and the decor was lovely and very spacious. We particularly enjoyed having the whole place to ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 45:Accommodation fine for family or group of close friends but location of toilet facilities would make renting of separate rooms by strangers problematic. 3 Bedrooms on second floor only one has en-suite bathroom. Other bathroom is on lower floor, down old stone spiral staircase.
Review 46:Location very good, overlooking harbour. Sitting room accommodation and kitchen on first floor excellent.
Review 47:Stairs difficult
Review 48:We were three cousins travelling together, there was some confusion on which room was booked so they let us have both rooms for the same price.
Review 49:All the stairs involved especially the spiral staircase from bedroom to toilet during the night. Sharing a shower-room with another family, particularly as you could see through the half glass door.(This was covered up using a towel after I explained the concern). With the family in the accommodation there was no problem but could have been different.
Review 50:Very clean and comfortable with great location
Review 51:Can't think of a thing we did not like.
Review 52:Excellent location along the harbourfront, open window at night letting in salt sea air for deep refreshing sleep, friendly and helpful staff, great restaurant below, close to ocean-side path running from Anstruther to Crail--great for morning run or hike (7 miles return).
Review 53:not really suitable for elderly as stairs windy and difficult to climb would be perfect if bedroom located on 1st floor next to toilet
Review 54:comfortable surroundings lovey view good kitchen facilities friendly staff good pub downstairs
Review 55:going home.
Review 56:Arrived after a 10 hr. journey and couldn't believe how super this was. It overlooks the harbour, parking is really easy. Masses of well thought out rooms - extremely spacious. Beds very comfy, and it was so quiet. Just wished we'd had more people to share. it. Great for a family gathering.FANTASTIC RESTAURANT BELOW.
Review 57:shower tray was partially blocked. the music from the bar below was very loud until midnight but OK - was small problem compared with other advantages.
Review 58:outlook, access from street, facilities excellent, Wi-Fi connection, after 5pm putting £2 in parking machine bought you time up 11pm the following morning.
Review 59:Shared bathroom (with broken lock) no breakfast, faulty curtains and blind! If this was £30 a night then ok but for £75 it's a rip off! Two local hotels near by (fully booked this night) have superior rooms, own bathroom (with door locks) including breakfast 30-40% cheaper!!! I will not be back!
Review 60:It's on the waterfront
Review 61:breakfast was a let down, would have preferred a full scottish,
Review 62:room was very comfortable and spacious
Review 63:Staff extremely friendly and very accommodating. Room was comfortable and clean. View was absolutely beautiful.
Review 64:great views, really comfortable
Review 65:The room was large, and there was a common kitchen and sitting room available. It was located next to the harbor.
Review 66:View of harbor from room. Convenience of bar and food.
Review 67:Location , ambience and service all good. Initial loss of room key addressed and complimentary drinks provided while problem resolved. Very good
Review 68:the stairs were no good for eldler couple we would not booked if we were told and there was no tv
Review 69:staff were very good
Review 70:No tv in room or guest room tea station not filled no milk old furniture not what i would class as deluxe
Review 71:Excellent location, beautiful property.
