Reviews for The Waterfront
Review 1:Breakfast timing was too late for any business users (but that's not the target market in Anstruther!) - but maybe it would have been possible to arrange a tray with cereal / tea / juice etc. Non-existent mobile signal in the hotel and surrounding area - not the hotel's problem, but worth knowing if this is important to you.
Review 2:Very nice clean room, good food in the restaurant
Review 3:Nothing.
Review 4:The room was spotless and the complimentary tea/coffee, biscuits and water were replaced daily. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating.
Review 5:great location situated along from the Anstruther Fish Bar (best fish n chips in the world) and next door to the Boatyard Pub (great local ale) right on the harbour front. Staff young friendly and very helpful. Rooms had everything needed and very very comfortable and beautifully furnished and decorated. Finally awesome choice for breakfast and superbly cooked.
Review 6:Very thin walls. You can hear almost everything from the next room including coversation, TV, flashing toilet, shower, etc.
Review 7:- Friendly Staff - Cozy and warm room - Specious room - Free mineral water - Lots of selection of breakfast
Review 8:Only thing was that you had to go out of your room to the restaurant to have breakfast but of course we knew that before we booked. Felt that duvet could have been a bit thicker given the time of year!
Review 9:The food was excellent. We were fortunate to have a family room at half price so were very comfortable.
Review 10:Unfortunately, the single room seems to be next to a family room and both times I've stayed other residents seem to be very noisy. Maybe some notices to remind guests to consider others?
Review 11:Breakfast is wonderful, loads of choice.
Review 12:The weather!! Nobody's fault
Review 13:Our room was really nice with huge comfortable bed, loads of pillows. There was a beautifully appointed bathroom with nice shower gel and towels.,tea and coffee making with lovely selection of biscuits etc., very spacious. Every comfort was thought of. The breakfasts had huge choices and all, were delicious served to us by really pleasant nice staff.
Review 14:The rooms were modern and very comfortable. Liked the nice touch of the free mineral water. The breakfast was exceptional and the meal we enjoyed in the restaurant - excellent!
Review 15:We could not get internet reception in our room which was a nuisance. Another drawback was that our room was right at the back of the hotel and to gain access to the staircase leading up to our room and other rooms it was necessary to walk through an alley which housed rubbish bins which attracted a lot of flies. Those bins should have been located elsewhere.
Review 16:We particularly liked the staff who were very friendly and helpful. Also the location right in the heart of the main street was wonderful.
Review 17:Proper chips should be made from real potato!
Review 18:Absolutely immaculate. Shower gel, conditioner and bath soak containers all had big writing so you could read what they were without your glasses on. (I never take my glasses into the shower!)
Review 19:WE ORDERED A SINGLE ROOM FOR MY ELDERLY MOTHER WITH EASY ACCESS AS SHE IS 92! THE ROOM WAS LOVELY BUT UP 2 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS SO NOT AT ALL EASY TO GET HER THERE AS THERE IS NO LIFT!
Review 20:OUR ROOM WAS GREAT AND THE BREAKFAST CHOICE WAS EXCELLENT. THE BIG BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE
Review 21:Excellent place to stay and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to that area of Fyfe. Great restaurant which was such a bonus. Staff were so friendly and made our stay worth the trip from Canada.
Review 22:the tv was on freeview and 2 nights out of the four we stayed it kept losing the picture and generally was a waste of time
Review 23:the room was an excellent size, the bed was huge and bathroom had so much room it was vast, the shower was particularly good
Review 24:I had a very pleasant stay at the Waterfront. The staff is super nice. I need to checkin 0:30am, way over the regular deadline and they waited for me. The place is clean, quit, confortable and in excellent position. Breakfast is great and eating it looking at the seafront and the harbour is priceless. I hope to come again!
Review 25:As a single elderly traveller, the staff made me feel very welcome, and I had an excellent meal in the Waterfront restaurant in the evening. Pity that one had to go outside to get to the restaurant from the bedroom, but there was a lovely little garden to walk through on the way. Attractive views from the restaurant of the harbour. Very good bedroom and ensuite.
Review 26:Our accommodation at the Waterfront was excellent - a spotless room with a very comfortable bed. We appreciated all the thoughtful extras, from a variety of toiletries to the bottles of water and generous amount of tea coffee and shortbread. Meals in the restaurant were delicious, and good value for money.
Review 27:Everything was good!!
Review 28:Everything about this facility was excellent. Very clean and comfortable. The location on the waterfront was very nice and convenient. Highly recommended.
Review 29:Very steep stairs. Thanks goodness we weren't carrying our suitcases, just had backpacks for this overnight stay.
Review 30:Large room with enormous bed. Well appointed bathroom, Right on the harbour at Anstruther with shops and cafes abounding,
Review 31:Bed was hard.
Review 32:Lovely modern accommodation and perfect location overlooking the harbour. Nice touch being provided with bottles of water in the room. Meal in restaurant was excellent & breakfast was tasty with lots of choice.
Review 33:Array of cleaning materials in industrial sprays on full display on top of sideboard with cutlery/covers in it in dining room. Very poor sound proofing in Bakehouse annex and loudly creaking staircase made a very comfortable bedroom into an indifferent sleeoing chamber.
Review 34:Great location, very good breakfast (and excellent dinner).
Review 35:Very minor point- the huge television blocked what light there was from a fairly small window.
Review 36:Lovely location and staff. Excellent dinner in the restaurant.
Review 37:We were in room 10 downstairs and could hear the people upstairs every time they moved. We were woken up by snoring one night! The bed was firm which suited me but gave my husband backache.
Review 38:Lovely location well furnished room with plentiful supplies of hot drinks and bottled water. Reasonable sized bathroom with a good shower and ample good quality toiletries. Helpful friendly staff.
Review 39:the view was poor despite the location since I had a room in the back. If I were to return, I would request a room with a better view. I'm sure they're available if one books in time.
Review 40:The staff were exceptionally helpful and understanding. I had some difficulties during my stay that they helped me manage. I am so very grateful!
Review 41:No allocated parking but managed to find space at rear of B & B without too much trouble.
Review 42:The location could not be better. The room was spacious with everything you needed. Staff were so friendly, the breakfast and restaurant food was excellent.
Review 43:Rooms are stylish and spotless. My daughter and I stayed in the family room in the bakery. As well as a king size bed, there were two bunk beds, each with their own tv and a single with another tv.
Review 44:We had a pleasant experience overall, but although the tables is the restaurant were cleaned regularly, the wide window sills remained very crumby and the floor had not been swept before breakfast. Small things, I know but easily rectified.
Review 45:Since we had booked a fairly last minute 2 night break, we were not surprised to be in a little back property with no view. It was very clean, modern and well equipped.
Review 46:lack of parking but realise there was nothing that could be done about that .
Review 47:excellent position in the town. Very very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 48:the UHT milk in the rooms I dont like, I am intolerant to this procedure and prefer soya milk/cream, I know this is diffircult to keep fresh..(I am vegetarian)
Review 49:the vegetarian breakfast is delicious and big. I like the simpleness of the decor and skylights and blinds, white sheets great. plenty of storage and so quiet I could rest. I love the location and the water in room and coffee and hairdryer..No one bothers you and I never saw kids or dogs which pleased me so I felt good hygiene. Safe and secure.
Review 50:You have to walk round the back of the restaurant to the accomodation block but this was ok given its an old building.
Review 51:Location is great, right on the harbour front. Accomodation is at the back though and so is very quiet.
Review 52:Cannot get my head round the idea that if you stay for two days, the bathroom doesn't need cleaning!
Review 53:Big comfortable bed, excellent staff, good food
Review 54:No wifi in rooms.
Review 55:Location is excellent, staff were lovely and friendly. Accommodation was excellent, really clean and comfortable. Can't wait for next visit. Food fab and breakfast amazing with lots of choice. Well worth a visit.
Review 56:The only negative was the noise of footsteps from the room above. Our floor was also creaky so would impact on anyone in the room below. The bathroom could have done with a shelf.
Review 57:The room was exceptionally clean and modern with a large TV, brilliant.
Review 58:The bed was the WORST! I've ever tried to sleep in.I thought it might have just been my room, but my friends bed was the same.this place could have been great!
Review 59:Place the staff the food perfect for golfers the view was second to none.
Review 60:Not so much a bad experience, however I would have preferred a room on a lower floor
Review 61:Lovely room, very helpful staff & a wonderful choice at breakfast
Review 62:Great location and very accommodating staff. Came for the music festival and really enjoyed The East Newk Festival, Fife and The Waterfront. We plan to return.
Review 63:No signal in room for phone reception and poor internet signals better signal in resturant and no on site parking.
Review 64:Nice costal location and nice staff very nice room and nice breakfast and dinner was nice fresh fish and chips with peas and home made Tatare sauce and nice home made cheese cake
Review 65:It would be better if the music in the restaurant were not so loud, especially at breakfast time.
Review 66:Large comfortable bedroom. Friendly and courteous service from all the staff. Good food, attractively served. Sea views.
Review 67:Not sure where the Off street Parking actually was
Review 68:Great location, nice room, very reasonable price. Good breakfast, would definitely stay here again if I was in the area
Review 69:The only thing I didn't like was all the banging of a door in the building at night. I believe it stopped around 1:00 am and it was very loud and annoying. I don't know if it was the wind or other customers entering and leaving the building or what was it, but I couldn't really fall to sleep because of the constant noise. Other than that, everything else was fine
Review 70:there was some kind of fan associated with the kitchens (I think) close to our room and it was difficult to sleep with the constant noise. The people in the room above were very noisy (at 4.45 - for an early start) as they presumably were walking on wooden floors. Ask for a room away from these issues and you will be delighted!
Review 71:The room on the ground floor was spacious with wooden floors and the bathroom was perfect. It was a real surprise to find the rooms tucked around the back of the restaurant. and would have been highly recommended except for - see next section
Review 72:The room was in excellent condition, Very clean, very comfortable. Free breakfast was fabulous. Everything I needed but nothing more. A short walk to legendary Anstruther Fish Bar.
Review 73:Not a thing, everything great.
Review 74:Beautiful huge room with huge bathroom. Decorated nicely, comfortable, elegant; nice toiletries supplied, best shower of my whole trip! Extremely friendly and pleasant restaurant staff. Quick check-in and out without error. Great location in a town with loads of personality.
Review 75:All clean and tidy; except dirty and discoloured shower unit - needs adetermined and organised cleaning.
Review 76:Staff friendly and helpful. Room 7 spacious, with notable very largebed. A very quiet night.DINNER FISH ITEMS VERY GOOD.
Review 77:The bathroom was in a poor state of repair and the extra large bed was a zip and link which should have been advertised as such.
Review 78:Staff are friendly and listen.
Review 79:I did not realise the payment had not been taken by yourselves and found the person in charge on Friday morning was not very good at customer service, was bordering on being rude on a few occasions
Review 80:The room was lovely but I found the bed had a hard ridge down the middle and was far too soft .
Review 81:The weather was rotten for April even. i had to order an early breakfast, the chef came in early for me.
Review 82:location was ideal for my golf. Evening meal was first class, good local produce
Review 83:Only complaint would be that booking.com markets this as a 4* hotel and only the self catering accommodation is 4*. Our room was only 3*. Also the bed was really lumpy and uncomfortable.
Review 84:Great location, excellent choice for breakfast, staff were friendly and room was very clean.
Review 85:No wi-fi in rooms. Hairdryer needed to be held in on position - difficult for older hands. Greater variety of breads at breakfast would have been great, and natural yogurt available both days
Review 86:Lovely big room and bed, though without a view. Pretty courtyard and quiet location
Review 87:We were given our room early,as we had to change to get to an early afternoon wedding. The food at lunchtime in the restaurant was lovely, and we were served quickly despite being very busy..best to book,as we were lucky to get a table.Breakfast the following morning was very good...and the sunday papers were on hand to read. Our room was warm, comfortable, and with tea/coffee making facilities, and the shower room ideal.
Review 88:No bad experiences really, freeview reception was a bit inconsistent but a shoogle on the aerial socket at the back seemed to help that, I think it had just come a bit loose. Couldn't get WIFI so not sure what the issue was there, to be fair though I couldn't get it anywhere along the harbour that advertised it so maybe there was an issue with my service rather than the hotel.
Review 89:Really enjoyed my stay at The Waterfront, I was there for two nights and everything about it was better than I'd expected it would be. The hotel is beautiful, staff friendly and helpful and the location couldn't be better. I'm not normally a foodie but I have to make special mention of the breakfasts, first day I had poached egg on toast with bacon and on the second thought I'd go for the full cooked breakfast, on both occasions the food was just superb with the presentation carefully considered and quite beautiful. Incredibly reasonable rate for a two night stay, the reason I said it was better than I expected it to be was the rate was just £80 for the two nights so I wasn't expecting much and was very pleasantly surprised. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 90:There is no wifi in room 1. One of beds in Room 1 has springs broken and didn't give me good sleep. Also the shower head needs to be changed - water goes everywhere.
Review 91:Spacious room, location and breakfast
Review 92:We were so well treated by the staff and everything seemed effortless. The accommodation was spacious and very comfortable and the location at the harbour was perfect.
Review 93:The staff were really pleasant and helpful and combined with quality accommodation and good food in the restaurant this was an excellent choice for a short break.
Review 94:There was quite a lot of noise from other residents, including a dog barking.
Review 95:The breakfast was excellent and the serving staff were superb. The room was well-equipped.
Review 96:Wifi poor but didn't matter as was only there two nights
Review 97:The location was great , very friendly staff beautiful clean room had an evening meal at the restaurant which was fab . Breakfasts were lovely great choice whether you wanted a full English or something light we opted for the smoked haddock with eggs fantastic
Review 98:the loo roll was cheap and nasty ! Of very little importance but the only thing I could think of .
Review 99:The evening meal was superb. Location could not have been better. Staff were really friendly and helpful
Review 100:The bedroom was on the third floor up two sets of steep stairs. The pillows were flattened and worn.
Review 101:The location was good. He room was modern and comfortable.
Review 102:Wifi poor but hey....for a night what does it really matter!
Review 103:Lovely rooms, friendly staff, good breakfast. Meal in restaurant at night was well cooked. Would go back.
Review 104:No parking and car park across the road tends too be busy until evening. Wifi not available and had no mobile signal.
Review 105:Rooms, breakfast, meals, staff were all excellent
Review 106:I am loath to write anything negative, but the wifi was rather capricious.
Review 107:Everything was great, the highlight was eating a delicious Scottish breakfast while watching the sun rise over a lovely East Neuk harbour!
Review 108:Poor wifi and phone signal although this an issue with Anstruther and not the hotel. Squeaky floor boards and poor soundproofing meant that we could hear every move of everyone staying upstairs.
Review 109:Friendly staff and a good dining experience. Clean and modern room. Great location for a night away.
Review 110:Restaurant is really great quality food. Good sized Room, very clean, well decorated and full furnished with modern looking furniture. It's in a great location and would definitely stay again.
Review 111:Excellent all-round three-day stay. Great value, superb accommodation, fine food. Views from the restaurant are just wonderful. Comfort of our room/apartment was five-star!
Review 112:No where to sit and have a drink no bar area.
Review 113:The accomodation was first class. Breakfast was very good with good efficent service. Meal on the Satarday evening was just okay.
Review 114:My husband complained that the bed was feeling a bit hard and uncomfortable. I had no trouble with it, however, and slept well. One night we could not get internet service at all but the next morning it came on in a flash and was very fast. These are only minor complaints, however. Overall, I would high recommend the Waterfront!
Review 115:The staff at the Waterfront are very welcoming and warm. They do everything possible to make your stay pleasant. They smile and greet you and ask if there is anything they can do to help you. The location is excellent. You can walk around the village, which is very quaint and interesting, and the waterfront, which is quite beautiful. We had breakfast at the Waterfront both days there and both were quite excellent. Food very tasty and well prepared. Plenty of parking in a lot across the street. We stayed in a room in the back away from the street, which was very nice because it was totally quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. There is a little courtyard, which is quite pretty and has lots of attractive vegetation. The room is quite comfy and the bath is very nice.
Review 116:Unfortunately the wi-fi in my room was non-existant. The wi-fi repeater on the ground floor could not be received in my room. Perhaps a more powerful unit is required. Otherwise, I had a great stay.
Review 117:I have visited the Waterfront on several occasions and I, once again, appreciated the warm welcome from the staff at reception and the efforts of Tasha to allocate to me the room that I requested. I also appreciated the work of the receptionist at breakfast and the fine breakfast she produced for me. Well done everyone!
Review 118:Showerhead needs cleaned or replaced for better flow.
Review 119:Lovely warm room and excellent location, friendly staff, good extras and very helpful staff. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 120:It is only a room, so hotel features (lounge and bar areas are not available), this could cause problems to travellers who experience bad weather during their stay. WiFi very hit and miss.
Review 121:Excellent size family room with built in bunk beds and plenty of floor space. Well equipped.
Review 122:Initially too hot and took a while to reduce room temperature. Once we turned off heaters & left window open, despite being middle of winter, it was very comfortable. Quiet outside but noisy inside with neighboring rooms, but acceptable.
Review 123:Good location, friendly staff, great breakfast, great facilities in room (tea, coffee, water, etc.), clean room, good shower, competitively priced, would recommend to others and will definitely come back again.
Review 124:No comfy chairs in room to sit on. They have no rooms with walk in showers for folk with mobility problems.
Review 125:Location. Value for money Breakfast choice and food excellent. Room size good. Helpful staff in trying to solve an issue which was our own oversight in not checking..
Review 126:I didn't find the bed particularly comfortable, but that is a personal thing I guess. I prefer a very firm bed.
Review 127:My evening mean was a wonderful scallop and king prawn Linguine. Lovely food and very good value.
Review 128:No harbour views from our room and several others
Review 129:Great place - parking good out of season not sure at other times Food Excelent in lovely dining area
Review 130:The location was just what we wanted, right on the sea front. The room was huge & very warm, great as it was cold outside. Loved the toiletries. Breakfast was amazing, beautiful.
Review 131:Wifi was restricted, but not the end of the world. Although huge, the double bed was actually two single beds and two single mattresses, so one person always ended up in an uncomfortable dip unless we slept far apart.
Review 132:Loved the room and the little touches like complimentary water, drinks vouchers, televisions at the end of the bed for the children. The breakfasts were fantastic and staff all excellent and very friendly.
Review 133:The stairs and the bath not disabled friendly . Nothing to hold onto to get in and out of the bath which is bad for elderly and disabled people , the stairs I did know about before hand but they were very steep and narrow again not good for the disabled and elderly .
Review 134:Very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and very prompt .
