Reviews for The Red Well Country Inn
Review 1:No hot water in the morning for a shower. owners children running around slamming doors. very slow being served breakfast, waited well over an hour.
Review 2:very friendly staff, rooms modern and clean. food faultless.
Review 3:The staff were very welcoming and friendly,The room was clean and the view from the window seat was beautiful. The food was excellent, local produce and good value not to forget the wonderful breakfast menu.Good place to stop close to the lakes without the extortionate prices
Review 4:this business trip was a reactive trip booked at very short notice ...the staff at the Red Well Inn provided a courtesy call to say when the chef stopped cooking , and also asked if we wanted him to save dinner for us due to our lateish arrival time. When we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful to us and the chef waited and cooked an excellent dinner for both my wife and I. we would thoroughly recommend this establishment for both business and pleasure , it is very clean and impressive décor.
Review 5:The long wait for evening meal. When it arrived our sirloin steak was tasteless and tough. The member of staff dealt with the situation and we were not charged for the steak. The breakfast was served once again much too late, one hour is much too long for service, the tea was cold by the time breakfast arrived.
Review 6:The price of a G & T was quite expensive. Very quiet eg. no other customers except for ourselves for most of our stay.
Review 7:Courtesy call to tell us when they finished serving food. Super staff. Lovely facilities.
Review 8:Nothing!
Review 9:Easy, uncluttered, totally professional. Clean, polite, food to die for. Friendly, modern with a rustic twist, just a little gem to find. Will be back!
Review 10:Room only has skylight windows, so no view from room.
Review 11:Excellent location just off M6, situated between the Yorkshire Dales & the Lake District. Great food and good value. Comfortable refurbished room in traditional Country Inn. Friendly staff
Review 12:It was very very quiet in the bar and restaurant (probably because of England-Wales rugby match) so the place lacked a bit of atmosphere and warmth. We sat in the bar for a drink after dinner but ended up drinking them and getting back to the room as quickly as possible (about 10.30) as we got the distinct impression the staff wanted us to clear off so they could close up!
Review 13:Nicely renovated, immaculate rooms, good food. We ate in the restaurant and were really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Breakfast was good as well (and the breakfast staff were so friendly). Overall, excellent value for money and handily located for the M6.
Review 14:Breakfast was excellent - very good choice (recommend the poached eggs). Room was very comfy and good ensuite facilities. The staff were lovely and friendly.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Our first stay and we would certainly return. Simple but well furnished room with good shower and very comfortable Hipnos bed. Lovely restaurant, serving local produce cooked to a very good standard. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 17:Nothing! Will definitely use the Red Well again on future journeys up and down from Scotland
Review 18:Everything! Very convenient location only 2.5 miles off the M6. Excellent quality decor without being overstated; rooms well-appointed and quiet; very comfortable bed; breakfast cooked to order, not done earlier and kept warm. Friednly and helpful staff.
Review 19:We had to leave after 3 hours because the fire alarm kept going off. This was ear splitting and unbearable. We would have been nervous wrecks awaiting the next siren. Also, a mystery man told us to 'p off' as we were leaving. We received no management apology.
Review 20:Staff were polite and welcoming
Review 21:Poor Bfast Experience, disorganised and very slow. Smoke alarm positioning outside bathroom created a series of alarms from another room on the morning we we're there.
Review 22:Good restaurant on site for Dinner
Review 23:Nothing it's a lovely place to stay.
Review 24:All the staff we met were great. The room was very nice, comfortable and clean. Décor was lovely. Breakfast and evening meals were great. No problem with parking. We would definitely stay again while en-route to Scotland or the Borders.
Review 25:poor mobile phone coverage
Review 26:friendly helpful staff. super bedroom (recently refurbished). great food. gave us a free bottle of wine for our 25th wedding anniversary! Beautiful country setting beside Yorkshire Dales
Review 27:Evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Everything is made on the premises, cooked to order and was very tasty. Staff very friendly and always willing to help.
Review 28:The staff were very welcoming and accommodated all our needs including a request for an early breakfast on Saturday morning. The rooms were very comfortable and the food was exceptional!
Review 29:There was a little road noise as we had a front facing room.
Review 30:All the staff were friendly, the room was well appointed and comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful.
Review 31:Fire alarm went off every morning we were there. On the second morning it woke us up in a panic as it rang on and off for over 5 mins and we rushed to get dressed and go outside. Each time it was a false alarm caused by someone using a shower. Our bathroom had really poor extraction leaving the bedroom like a sauna as soon as you opened the door after a shower so no wonder the alarm goes off all the time. Breakfast on the first day was really slow. We only asked for cereal and toast but were waiting for ages. On the second morning there were no tables available when we turned up for breakfast so we just checked out without. It was just too much trouble after the trauma of the fire alarm.
Review 32:No air conditioning, but wouldn't expect it for the money.
Review 33:Lovely clean rooms. Nice bathroom, excellent shower. Good food and drinks, reasonably priced. Staff were nice and very helpful.
Review 34:Breakfast service was just a little slower than we would have liked, but the food was very enjoyable once it arrived.
Review 35:Friendly staff in recently renovated very comfortable accommodation with lovely food.
Review 36:Nothing bad to say, other than occasionally the service was a tad slow, but easily forgiven as the staff were so lovely and obviously cared about providing you with everything you need for a great stay!
Review 37:The breakfast was fantastic - basically a limitless, made-to-order feast! Staff very friendly. All food excellent, particularly the sticky toffee pudding!Rooms very nice, clean, nice bathroom.
Review 38:Being picky here but no shaving mirror in front of the sink, it was on the side wall which is not great for a wet shave.
Review 39:How relaxed everything felt, which is what you want out of a b&b.
Review 40:It was a bit weird to have windows only on the ceiling but as we were only there 1 night, it wasn't a big deal.
Review 41:Great staff that made us feel welcome and a very filling and delicious breakfast! Hotel is clean, nicely decorated, and the room was very comfortable. The restaurant was also great for dinner--nice food at reasonable prices.
Review 42:Everything here is first class. We had a lovely 6 nights here. Great bedrooms and great food (fabulous brrakfasts!) also brilliant staff and owners, couldn't have been better.
Review 43:Perfect location on my way to Scotland and so unexpected to find such a lovely place . The welcome was warm and the food fantastic. I wish I had booked another night 0 or two.
Review 44:The owners were absolutely lovely - nothing was too much of an ask. We were in the area for a wedding and our only regret was that we weren't able to spend more time at the Red Well! The food and drinks menus looked fab!
Review 45:You could only unjustifiable nit-pick but I am glad I wasn't in a hurry to get away in the morning. Very laid back (which can be good or bad)
Review 46:More or less everything was excellent - location was in the middle of nowhere so just as well, but very convenient for IoMan ferry! Evening meals were very good (we were the only customers on a Monday night) sand breakfast was enormous.
Review 47:There was no window with a view in our room but there are velux windows in the ceiling which let in ample light and air. The phone signal was unreliable but we were told there was a land line for use by guests if needed.
Review 48:The inn is well located a few miles outside Kirkby Lonsdale. The rooms have recently been tastefully refurbished to a high standard. Our room had a wardrobe which rooms in country inns don't always have. Bathroom was excellent with nice fluffy towels! There is an excellent restaurant in the hotel with both a pub grub and a la carte menu.
Review 49:Bar and restaurant closed a little earlier than expected.
Review 50:Freshly cooked breakfasts with excellent options. Friendly atmosphere. Free coffee for residents.
Review 51:Mushrooms at breakfast were rubbery and bland.
Review 52:Superking sizedv bed. Super comfy. High quality mattress, pillows, duvet etc. Open sandwich was gorgeous. good variety for breakfast. super fast WiFi
Review 53:A very warm welcome from the staff, who were more than happy to help. The room was spacious and very clean and tidy. The surrounding area was very peaceful and quiet. The food was extremely nice, pork belly I recommend. The only drawback was the location as it was a good walk into the centre of town. On the whole it was an excellent experience and would have no problem returning to stay.
Review 54:Only downside was the slow service at mealtimes -- and the dining room wasn't busy.
Review 55:The Redwell Inn was at almost exactly the halfway stage of our journey and, very conveniently, only a few minutes off the M6. The ambiance in the bar/dining area downstairs was excellent and upstairs, the rooms had all been recently completely refurbished to an extremely high standard. The only disappointment with our room was that, while it was light and bright, the light was coming from two Velux windows as there was no standard window or view. The staff were wonderful -- welcoming, obliging and friendly. We had a delicious dinner chosen from an extensive menu but for the meal , it was lucky we weren't in a hurry! We 'll definitely be stopping off again.
Review 56:No gsm coverage - you have to move half a mile to get a signal, howeverthere is a landline which the owners offer you to use
Review 57:Comfortable and very clean rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, excellent food good location few minutes drive from Ruskin'sView point
Review 58:Hard to fault, about the only thing I can come up with is the bedside/reading light could have been more focussed or brighter.
Review 59:Friendly & welcoming staff, spotlessly clean, top quality beds, lovely breakfast. Will certainly stay again.
Review 60:Rooms either have a roof light and no windows or a window with a great view but next to the road which meant keeping the window shut and being too hot We felt the price was OTT We paid significantly less at a 4* Hilton with golf course and leisure centre and only a bit more at the Olympic Park Holiday Inn
Review 61:The Inn was equipped with top quality fixtures and fittings. Breakfast was cooked to order and excellent as was the smoked fish pie for supper. The people were lovely.
Review 62:The bar tables set for breakfast after dinner service leave nowhere for residents or others to sit after eating, if the sofas round fire already taken. Searching at a set up table not relaxing. Isolated location really demands this to be considered.
Review 63:All of the above
Review 64:N/a
Review 65:Honestly could not fault anything, so rellaxing.Owners very friendly and helpfull.Excellent food.we only stayed one night, will definatly visit again.
Review 66:A little quiet and so perhaps lacking a little atmosphere but that was only when I was there. The following night it was fully booked and no doubt makes it even better still.
Review 67:Location just minutes off the M6. Good food & beers. Rooms and bathrooms are immaculate and very good standard. Will definitely use again.
Review 68:Amazing food very well priced. Would have expected to pay more for this quality. Breakfast - wow! you won't need to eat again until a lovely evening meal in the restaurant.
Review 69:Booked an evening meal and took almost an hour to be served. The portions were small.
Review 70:The location was good was to visit places in cumbria and north Yorkshire. Room was comfortable. Nice touch with the cake and flowers for our anniversary. Dessert in the restaurant was nice.
Review 71:Rooms were a good size, well decorated and clean. Good sized shower, and plenty of cupboard space. Beds were comfortable making it a lovely place to be after a long days hike. There was a small problem with the TV signal but the staff were prompt in dealing with it and it was resolved ASAP. They even made us a packed breakfast on our first morning as we are out and about early. Would recommend and will no doubt stay again.
Review 72:we thought it was vary over priced and the food was not as good as it should of been for the price, TV very poor as very few Chanel's available as no satellite signal.would only stay again if was cheaper
Review 73:it was very friendly and warm, the staff couldn't have been more helpful, the room was vary tastefully done
Review 74:Wi Fi was a bit hit and miss mainly in public areas but that was no big deal.
Review 75:The welcome was warm, the room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Dinner was lovely and breakfast was amazing - the best porridge, eggs benedict, french toast and home made lemon curd I have ever had.
Review 76:Skylight blinds difficult to operate.Next time would pay more for a room with normal windows
Review 77:Very helpful and welcoming staff.Good selection of food- wonderful breakfast.Look forward to returning !!
Review 78:The staff at the Red Well made us feel at home without being intrusive. Breakfast was relaxed and prepared and served well and our evening meals were superb. The room was very comfortable and of a high standard.
Review 79:Only complaint would be that the towel warmer couldn't be adjusted and made the bathroom a bit too warm.
Review 80:Dinner and breakfast were amazing! The room was very clean and super comfortable.
Review 81:A perfect stay for our 22 years anniversary, a warm welcome was given, very friendly landlords and owners. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was excellent, very tastefully decorated, the little extras made all the difference too. We ate in the restaurant at night, which was beautiful. Breakfast was also fantastic!
Review 82:The Red Well Inn has contemporary, luxury accommodation, the breakfast was the best I’ve had in a long time, the owners were extremely welcoming and friendly and the bar served some fantastic ales. All in all we enjoyed my short stay there and will be going again.

Review 85:Everyone was friendly and a very relaxed atmosphere. The food was superb and used local produce. The room was well really nice and comfortable. You are able to buy their own smoked products from their shop.
Review 86:Only one tiny thing - was no rubber mat for the shower to prevent slippage.
Review 87:Very warm and friendly staff. Very high standard of comfort and food. Bathroom was special.
Review 88:No window in the room. Skylight, but no window.
Review 89:Modern, fantastically decorated room. Best shower i have ever had in a B & B. Best bed i have ever slept in.
Review 90:Nothing can't fault them, the total experience was excellent.
Review 91:The accommodations is clean fresh and to a high standard throughout. The breakfast is fresh local produce and very tasty, they even produce and sell their own produce so you can enjoy at home to remind you of the excellent Red Well Inn.
Review 92:N/A everything was perfect
Review 93:Nice friendly staff who give fantastic customer service. The restaurant serves beautifully prepared food at reasonable prices and Ross the owner chef is clearly at the top of his game. The bedrooms are immaculate and tastefully furnished in a contemporary style, wi-fi worked with an excellent signal in our bedroom. Fantastic breakfast menu with many options.. Eggs benedict was my choice and this was heaven on a plate
Review 94:We went for valentines night. The staff made us welcome from the second we went through the door. The food was excellent and the room was lovely and the bed was huge.
