Reviews for Chambres d'Hôtes A L'ecole Buissonniere

Review 1:Owners are only there in the morning. Bathroom needs some repairs.

Review 2:The breakfast was very varied and good. Lots of homemade products. Really something to look forward to.

Review 3:None!

Review 4:Location is off the harbour but pretty much a corner away, very near eateries and shops. The hotel is so pretty, gardens was prettily decorated, breakfast was wonderful, room is huge and has a lot of history and the original structure. I had a great time there! My only grouse is that is that my stay is too short! Will definitely be back!!

Review 5:Difficult to find as it is in fac SOUTH of the motorway Nantest -Vannes while Marzan in the address is North of this road. New owner is updating and improving the local signage.

Review 6:Lovely rural setting and owner very welcoming. Enjoyed our stay

Review 7:The spiral stairs to get up to the bedroom and bath would be difficult for some people.

Review 8:The location was perfect. The room was spacious, clean and stylish. The breakfast was wonderful.

Review 9:We were very lucky to park a few metres away for free, but so limited we did not dare to move the car once we had arrived!

Review 10:Charming and friendly staff made our experience even nicer in a delightful, rustic and pretty courtyard setting. Thoughtful and delicious (very) French breakfasts. Spacious ground floor room was a pleasure to use.

Review 11:We are a "mature" couple and were on the third floor. The stairs were very old and uneven and could really be challenging/dangerous for an older couple. We did not ask to be changed, but if this would be a problem it would be a good idea to ask in advance.

Review 12:L'Ecole is very charming and is in a fantastic location for exploring the shops and the harbor. The decor is very simple but has all the amenities we needed. Breakfast was perfect!

Review 13:Our only disappointment was the breakfast. Croissants were only available one morning although there was always plenty of meat, cheese, eggs, fruit, yoghourts and baguette. Croissants are so traditionally French!

Review 14:The accommodation was unexpectedly large and was delightful. Olga and Yevgeny (the 2 staff who managed on a day to day basis ) were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 15:The 2nd (3rd) floor rooms have tricky stairs and low rafters. If you have mobility issues make sure you avoid these rooms

Review 16:Location, ambiance, 16th century bldg. with lots of wood timbers

Review 17:No negative items

Review 18:The visit to this b&b was from start till end perfect. Think one of the most beatiful and charming accomodations we went so far on a central but quit location. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Breakfast with quality and friendly personell/owners.

Review 19:There was a suite above and all footsteps and flushing of the loo could be heard

Review 20:Location, style of decor. The staff made us feel welcome and very comfortable.

Review 21:nothing bad, it was excellant

Review 22:Everything. The hotel is immaculate and quirky ,fab location , great hosts etc etc. it is our second sty and we will definitely return and recommend to others.

Review 23:Nothing really

Review 24:Our room had such charm . Exposed beams and a quaint feel it was a delight very cleverly done . Our bedroom was large with an open bathroom and bath and a seperate kitchen as an added bonus . Right in town but very quiet . Great breakfast with home made treats.

Review 25:Nothing, everything was perfect

Review 26:This hotel was a real gem, they made us feel really relaxed and nothing was to much trouble. I would really recommend this hotel, the room was clean and the little details were lovely

Review 27:The rooms are very nice with a very funky vibe to take advantage of available space. The use of the original old wood beams etc makes for a very authentic feel that matches the charm of Honfleur perfectly.

Review 28:No real good/nice beach. Very limited parking and if you are unlucky you need to walk 0.5 km.

Review 29:Great location just near the centre of Honfluer. Very nice small city with lots of galleries, authentic shops and a multitude of restaurants

Review 30:Some of the bedrooms are reached by fairly steep stairs which could be a problem for more mature guests.

Review 31:The B&B is an excellent location just 200 yards form 'Le Vieux Bassin'. The renovation has made imaginative use of a very old school building to provide quirky luxurious accommodation. The property has a secluded courtyard and our suite had its own sun terrace - say no more!

Review 32:Not dislikes, more things to note. Parking close to the accommodation can be tricky particularly in the high season. If stairs are problematic for you check with them before booking.

Review 33:In a good location within easy walking distance of the harbour. The building is a very old school building which has been creatively converted to offer beautiful and original accommodation.Staff were very helpful. The French breakfast was delightful offering a wide choice of savoury and sweet delights.

Review 34:Nothing! We would love to stay again!

Review 35:The room was very well presented with attention to detail. It had rustic charm but was immaculate! The high ceiling, open plan layout and added bonus of the terrace meant that it felt more like a suite than just a room! It was great to have the use of the bikes to explore Honfleur! Breakfast was amazing! Although close to the port there was no noise and the accommodation had a tranquil feel to it!

Review 36:I can only say, parking wasn't easy but this was not a big negative.

Review 37:All! It was absolutely fabulous and we could not fault anything.....the breakfast was 'cordon bleu' !!! We had the suite with a balcony and living room it was much bigger than we expected.

Review 38:It would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the rooms but I guess that's a 'British' thing.

Review 39:Brilliant location, unusual 'shabby-chic' decor, great staff and breakfast was wonderful! It was everything we could have wished for a short break away.

Review 40:Tricky for parking/access

Review 41:Great location adjacent to the main shopping and harbour area. Very quirky but ideal for a one or two night stay. Good breakfast. Helpful staff and nice touch of a small gift on leaving followed up by a thank you text.

Review 42:Staff very friendly, location of hotel. Bus from airport easy 8 euro as against 45 euro in taxi Continental breakfast superb 2minute walk to harbour and restraunts.

Review 43:Very difficult to find and parking a big problem, particularly in high season as it took 15 minutes driving around to find a free parking space and that was 1/4 mile away.

Review 44:A small thing- we would have liked a little more cutlery in the kitchen (not even enough for the two of us) milk for the tea and coffee provided and a couple of small tumbler glasses. Otherwise this was perfect.

Review 45:Gorgeous interior in our studio apartment, central location and free parking in close proximity. The owner and staff were accommodating and helpful. The breakfast was superb.

Review 46:Bed mattress was ok. Did not like how you have a sheet that goes under a wooly blanket. I'm a bit of a hygiene freak and thinking that other people covered with the same blanket does not appeal to me. Would be great if the blanket was covered with a duvet instead of a sheet.

Review 47:Beautiful place, great location, super friendly and helpful staff, yummy breakfast, and so convenient but in a quiet area as well.

Review 48:All good.

Review 49:Everything about this hotel is excellent. It is supremely stylish and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and location superb. Outstanding breakfast too. A lovely central base in Honfleur. Recommend it highly and would love to go back.

Review 50:The staff was delightful. The breakfast is unsurpassable- top of the line delicacies Flowers everywhere, inner courtyard, Ancient building and fantastic decor

Review 51:A huge bed in a large suite with sitting area awaited us and in the morning the breakfast was to die for. In the evening we bought a bottle of wine and a cheese platter and sat in the courtyard, certainly a great deal cheaper than some of the restaurants in Hornfleur!

Review 52:With no parking on site, restricted to small public space nearby usually full or larger public car park quite a distance away.

Review 53:Individuality of the rooms Breakfast

Review 54:not the easiest place to find, limited parking .... but all very doable.

Review 55:very friendly people, excellent service, wonderful breakfast and, of course, great location

Review 56:Most of the stairs to rooms are not up to health and safety standard in UK. Unsuitable for 60 and over but we had a great time we are 70 young at heart.

Review 57:Staff bent over backwards to be helpful

Review 58:Difficult to find staff, no storage so clothes on the floor, no reading in bed as no bedside light, no desk to allow writing, no tea or coffee available, only bath as shower would risk flooding room. We left at 0730 so no breakfast. Triumph of prettiness over function.

Review 59:Spacious Room

Review 60:Our ground floor room opened up onto the courtyard so we had to keep the curtains closed for privacy (an additional voile curtain would help) but that was a small inconvenience - the rest was absolutely great.

Review 61:The building was amazing, like stepping back into history, and it was decorated beautifully, very much in keeping. Wonderful little courtyard garden, again done very well. And the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful.

Review 62:Small doorways and low ceilings in one room and narrow spiral staircase in the other.Calling the spiral staircase room a "deluxe room" is a gross overstatement.

Review 63:Breakfast was very good. (no hot food though). Location is excellent. Easy walk to town.

Review 64:There is nothing that I could say I did not like

Review 65:The location was fantastic - in town but tucked away so there was no noise. The acclimation was fantastic and very French romantic. Staff were an absolute pleasure and were very friendly.

Review 66:Nothing

Review 67:The very helpful and personable staff who went out of their way to make our stay in the 17th Century former school so enjoyable. Very nice home made breakfast.

Review 68:Slight whiff in the room, not sure if damp or what, tricky parking although the 600m walk from free parking was fine.

Review 69:Great central location, alternative boutique vibe, delicious Full French breakfast, lovely staff, very comfortable bed.

Review 70:This charming B&B, run by a young couple, is a series of rooms, corners, flower-filled courtyards, angles and steps, reclaimed wood floors and old doors. Our bathroom had a huge walk-in shower and two bowl sinks. The bed was very comfortable. It was very quiet. Breakfast was amazing. So much to choose from.

Review 71:Great city and wonderful accommodations. Best breakfast we had in France. Luxurious linens and fun blend of old and new. We stayed on top floor...had adjoining rooms.

Review 72:Private, quiet and unassuming guest house. Fabulous French courtyard hidden from the main street. Individual rooms all with a traditional quirky style. Friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Definately recommend this place.

Review 73:Not a bad experience, but the room didn't quite meet expectations (from other reviews and the photos), but perhaps we were unlucky. Lovely old school and a great idea to convert into a hotel

Review 74:The location couldn't be bettered. The Saturday market was practically on our doorstep and the quay-side restaurants 3 minutes away. Most galleries and the wooden cathedral equally as close - perfect

Review 75:No issues however the shower in the room is not for shy couples. The shower is fully visible from the entire room.

Review 76:Excellent Bed, tasty breakfast and great location.

Review 77:Nothing!

Review 78:Fantastic location in centre of Honfleur and a really quirky place. Certainly worth a visit and we will definately return later in the year. Completely met all of our needs and cannot find anything to fault it

Review 79:The parking facilities. Was lead to believe for 10 euro could have secure parking (very important to us travelling in English car with luggage) or in the street outside. This was not the case the free car park was about 6 mins walk away in an unlit car park. This made us feel anxious about leaving the car there. Thankfully all was well though. This did spoil our overall experience there unfortunately.

Review 80:Lovely old building, friendly welcome, very good breakfast. Good location for walking into town, although quiet.

Review 81:Small car park opposite, but this was full for our stay. We were able to unload/reload there with the help of the staff. A free car park is 5-10 minutes walk away. A worthwhile inconvenience for such an excellent location.

Review 82:Very appealing characterful hotel with individual bedrooms, many accessed by their own steep wooden stairs. Breakfast had different patisseries (home made) every day. Our party of 8 commandeered the dining room, with open fire, for an evening meal of a fixed main dish (a very good cassoulet) preceded by meat and cheese platter plus coffee and drinks. A great finale to our stay.

Review 83:Quaint hotel. Very French! Had so many wonderful nooks and crannies. Breakfast was more and better than ever expected! Loved the owner and staff. They were very helpful even with little English. Would defiinetly return!

Review 84:The fact that our room was not serviced during our stay - no change of towels. The 'haunted kettle' which switched itself on and off at all times of the day and night - but just added to the quirkiness! Be aware that parking can be very difficult.

Review 85:We were made very welcome and loved the location, so close to the town centre, as well as the quirkiness of the building itself - lots of very old exposed beams. We also loved our room with the bathroom incorporated - the bath in the bedroom, but a separate loo! The sink counter was an old workbench and the bedside tables were old crates! The parting gift from the owner of homemade jam and a picnic was charming.

Review 86:Parking was a challenge but we found a car park nearby so were able to leave the car there for the length of our stay. The hotel was close to the centre so everything was within easy reach. It would have been good to have been able to make a drink in our room so a travel kettle is a must for next time. Otherwise we had no complaints and can't wait to book another time.

Review 87:Quirky and different. A lot of thought has gone into the renovations to the building so every room is different. We had everything we needed. Madame and monsieur were a joy to meet and we just wished we had booked for longer and will most certainly return another time

Review 88:Driving around v narrow busy streets trying to find it!! We did get a parking space directly opposite though in the end.

Review 89:We loved the suite here, totally quirky hotel but a fabulous suite. Great facilities. Wanted to stay longer to enjoy it more!! Staff were friendly and helpful, food excellent. Great position in centre of Honfleur once we were parked up. We were given food and cider to take with us on our journey.

Review 90:No proper shower in bathroom Pillows too hard

Review 91:The unusual layout of the hotel Attention to detail Friendly staff Lovely surroundings Beautiful unusual rooms Close to the town centre

Review 92:Traffic and parking could easily be an issue and concern within Honfleur. We basically parked for the 3 days and decided not to move the car. Honfleur knows its value as a beautiful location but charges accordingly for all shop and restaurant items.

Review 93:Location is ideal for accessing the centre of HonFleur. It is an oasis within the town providing peace and quiet. The owner and staff were very helpful when it came to recommending restaurants - very good. Substantial breakfasts - beyond normal French baguette, juice and apricot jam. Owner got us a parking space 2 minutes away which was a bonus.

Review 94:Nothing.

Review 95:Hostess, Sylvie, and her husband are delightful. Our room was huge with little nooks and spaces. Enormous bathroom with open shower/tub in the middle...fun. Courtyard is charming. Breakfast was delicious and we were given a snack and a jar of jam when we left. Location is fantastic. Loved this place!

Review 96:Very little. Some of the rooms require climbing quite narrow stairs so if this is a problem, I suggest either letting them know or choosing a different place to stay

Review 97:Central location, lovely room (suite) with balcony and accomodation on two levels. Breakfasts are very nice in the eclectically furnished dining room. The property is a wonderful historic building which has been sympathetically and artfully decorated by the owners.

Review 98:Care needs to be taken on the slippy courtyard and narrow stairs but well worth the effort and adds charm.

Review 99:Rustic charm,a real character bedroom with open beams , fantastic breakfast and the owner Sylvia was charming. We were given a small picnic and a jar of Confiture de la Maison on our departure which was a lovely touch . We will definitely recommend to family and friends and return ourselves in the future. Excellent!

Review 100:No opening window in our room. Insufficient breakfast tables for number of rooms. Not a croissant in sight at breakfast. Various fruit and savoury flans, crepes and boiled eggs which were all cold. We would have preferred warm. Make your own tea! Kettle of tepid water left on your table (weird!). No toilet roll holder or shower rack. Picky, I know but it's the small things that make the difference!

Review 101:Excellent location, very quiet, large ground floor room with huge shower. Lovely comfortable bed. Clean, novel character. Very helpful staff. Phoned for taxi. Tried to assist us.

Review 102:No shower in the room although lovely bath. Evening Table D'Hote meal was OK but overpriced and lacked atmosphere.

Review 103:Super location. Very stylish and quirky accommodation. Very clean, crisp sheet. Good breakfast.

Review 104:A couple of armchairs would have been nice . There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 105:The impact when you walk in from the cobbled street. Smell of jam being made , mingled with the flowers in the pretty courtyard meet you as you enter. Room was spacious and airy and we had a kitchen which was a bonus. Breakfast was a joy in the pretty breakfast room with fresh produce and homemade pastries and jams. The staff were very welcoming , helpful.and friendly .

Review 106:Not for tall people Ideal for coulples, better without kids

Review 107:Very nice place. Center location Incredible continental breakfast with home made cakes Atmosphere is really great as a historical place

Review 108:There was nothing we disliked, but afew points for others. Because of the tight spiral staircases it is not for young children or the infirm. It was difficult to find, only because the street names In Honfleur are impossible to see. We parked opposite the TIC and got a street map and directions to follow after going round several times. Try not to arrive on a Saturday market day, you will never get through. There is no parking on site, but we found free on street parking in a nearby street. Drop your luggage, then find a parking spot, and your TIC Street map comes in handy for finding your way back! Go and sit in a bar with a beer or glass of wine and watch everyone else getting lost. Marvellous!

Review 109:How quiet it was even though right in the centre, just minutes from everything . Flowers and plants adorning the charming courtyard. Lovely staff, quirky access to rooms, excellent continental breakfast, bikes to use if wanted. Delightful 3 night stay. Madame was extremely accommodating and helpful.

Review 110:A rather bizarre bath & shower in the bedroom with no protection against water from the shower wetting clothes on the coat hangers. Needs a glass wall and some method of keeping water off the bedroom floor.

Review 111:A unique and delightful experience just a few paces from the inner basin. Rooms dotted about all over the structure. It was a very friendly place and guests seem naturally to talk to each other. Superb breakfast. Extra-ordinary!

Review 112:Access to our room was up a narrow flight of stairs which could have been tricky for a person with limited mobility but there was a lovely balcony with seats. Breakfast had fruits, cakes and home made jams but surprisingly no croissants or pains au chocolat.

Review 113:A two minute walk from the harbour but considering you are in the centre of Honfleur, it was very quiet. Our room was light, spacious and spotless. We were given some snacks and a bottle of apple juice when we left which was a lovely touch. A very atmospheric place to stay, loved it!

Review 114:Very unconfortable. Lots of narrow stairs to acces the room. Too expensive for what they offer. No parking.

Review 115:It is a very nice place but too expensive for what they offer.

Review 116:Parking - there really isn't any with the hotel. Very difficult to locate hotel when driving, the road appears to be a no entry but isn't! Open plan shower in bedroom (May not suit all)

Review 117:Friendliness of all staff The traditional combined with modern design, works really well. Fantastic breakfast Location couldn't be better, Honfleur is soo pretty

Review 118:Loved this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Really beautiful place in a perfect location and the owner Sylvia couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful.

Review 119:Not possible to park close by so a 5 minute walk to the car along cobbled street.

Review 120:Old building done very originally. Breakfast, comfy bed. Peaches on table.

Review 121:No availibilty of parking close buy. Only baths available - no

Review 122:The charm of the old building, spacious room (suite) with easy access to the centre of the town and port.

Review 123:There were no negatives and we will recommend the hotel to friends.

Review 124:We had a suite of rooms, which we were not expecting plus a private roof terrace. All furnishings, linen, curtains etc were of top quality. Breakfast was good with fruit juice freshly pressed on the premises. No faults what so ever.

Review 125:Friendly staff. Good room in an authentic restorated building. Great location 5min walk from Honfleur harbour. Breakfast was also OK.

Review 126:Steps to top floor.

Review 127:Location

Review 128:Charmant in centrum van Honfleur.

Review 129:Everything! Possibly the best chambre d'hôte we've ever stayed in ...

Review 130:Staff were excellent; very helpful and welcoming.Charming hotel. Excellent breakfast. Excellent location central to shops and harbour.

Review 131:Welcoming and helpful staff

Review 132:Beautiful house

Review 133:Excellent location, clean well presented rooms

Review 134:Location and unusualness of the hotel
