Reviews for Hôtel Antares & Spa

Review 1:Location of the hotel, rooms would need some renovation, no restaurant in the hotel whereas it is located in a quite isolated area.

Review 2:Swimming pool and spa, car parking places, staff friendliness, possibility of large rooms

Review 3:Tiny things. The exhaust fan in the bathroom needed a clean. And there was some dirt in one of the corners of the pool. Literally, that is the only constructive feedback I can give. We were very pleasantly surprised for the price!! Would definitely stay again enroute from Calais.

Review 4:Great room, very spacious with beds for Mum, Dad and two kids on separate levels. Kids loved it. 2 minute drive from beautiful Honfleur for dinner and relaxing. And wonderful pool, just beautiful. Superb breakfast with just so much choice and lovely quality.

Review 5:This is not a 3 star hotel. We asked for a extra bed for our 4year old - forgotten -but still claimed for the extra money. - Pool and spa poor and very small - very packed - and everything was pretty grotty. Glass on main door broken- smelly room - staff completly unfriendly - on main road.

Review 6:I didn't like that we were put in the annexe building instead of the main body of the hotel

Review 7:The sauna and the spar which were clean and well-maintained.

Review 8:We were denied to receive bath robes by the personnel with motivation that they "have run out of". It is probably not so difficult to foresee the needs based on the reservations. Otherwise the staff was nice and friendly.

Review 9:Comfortable beds, calm boutique hotel with a tasteful design, nice spa with a warm and clean swimming pool

Review 10:Breakfast could have been a little better provisioned but, in our case, the dining room had been hit by a locust swarm of elderly British tourists on a coach trip. Half an hour earlier or later and I imagine it would have been fine.

Review 11:Only a 15 minute stroll from Honfleur harbour, this is a great place to stop over if, say, on your way to Le Havre for the series. The pool is excellent and a welcome distraction after a long car journey (5 hours in our case).

Review 12:No warm food at breakfast apart from a boiled egg. It was summer though so we didn't really miss this too much.

Review 13:Excellent big rooms and nice bathrooms. The WIFI worked perfectly and the TV was very modern and we made good use of this. The garden and the outdoor chess set were very good.

Review 14:The position of the hotel is 30 to 40 mins outside the town. There is no restraint or eating facilities whatso ever, so a walk or drive into town is needed. The taxis need to be booked as they don't pick up without prior arrangement. Room are very uncomfortable as there is no air conditioning. The staff seem to be very few, and the service at the bar is terrible. Would never stay here again, or recommend to anyone, book somewhere else as we booked for 3 nights and checked out after first night and found a much better hotel for same rate nearer Hornfluer

Review 15:The spa is good apart from the water quality in the pool.

Review 16:Uncomfortable bed and room smell. The overall cleanliness could have been better.

Review 17:The overall hotel experience was ok. The staff were friendly and the pool kept the children entertained.

Review 18:The shower in our room hadn't been cleaned properly- there was still soap in there from previous occupant! Both bathrooms could have had more attention. The breakfast was ok but very expensive for what was on offer- over €80 for 2 days!

Review 19:Loved the facilities- kids really enjoyed the pool. The layout of the quadruple room was superb. Location good.

Review 20:- Rooms a bit shabby, cigarette burn on the net curtains, marks on the walls etc. - No shower curtain (bathroom floor gets wet) - No kettle in the room to make tea/coffee - Quite a way out of the town centre - Massage rooms (and bedrooms for that matter) next to a noisy road - could hear traffic all the way through which spoilt the experience - Can't put the TV into English

Review 21:- The pool and spa area were very clean and serene - Plenty of lovely seating areas outside, by the pool and in the gardens - Good breakfast, plenty of choice (but a bit expensive at 12.50 per head) - Good WIFI access - Spacious room - enough room for a baby bed

Review 22:One of the light fittings fell off the wall in the night, and was dangling on a wire above the kids' bed.

Review 23:Good value for a family room in August, mezzanine style is always a better way to do that than all cramming into same room UK style. Reasonably close to old port area (2 min drive, 15 min walk). Nice view of Pont de Normandie from breakfast room.

Review 24:The hotel is a better than average budget hotel however the rooms do not have air conditioning which made it very stuffy even with windows open in august. The lift did not operate efficiently.

Review 25:Breakfast was good and facilities were good.

Review 26:Thought the breakfast at 12.50euros pp very expensive especially as there did not appear to be any cooked just cereal and croissants. So we went into town for a better and much less expensive one. Bedroom carpets very warn.

Review 27:Lovely pool and spa area. Helpful staff. Good quality bed linen and the 4 bed mezzanine room was great for us travelling with 2 teens. They loved the hd TV and wifi.

Review 28:Price of continental breakfast would have been 75 euros for the 6 of us which is way too high! Would have liked tea/coffee facilities in our room.

Review 29:Free use of the pool was great for grand children. Duplex room was great!

Review 30:The room was extremely hot and had no air conditioning , it was also further than the advertised two minutes from Honfleur.

Review 31:The free wifi was excellent and the layout of the quadruple room was very good .

Review 32:No Air Con in room, very stuffy, had to bring own fan. Bed was very average. Poorly laid out bathroom with shower on the bath tap only and no shower curtain, not even a hook to hand a washbag up. Stayed 3 nights but wouldn't return.

Review 33:Swimming pool is the draw for families

Review 34:The corridors smelt disgusting, the room was very hot with no AC, we ordered a cot but that wasn't there, hotel staff not helpful with that so ended up using own travel cot. We we're told it was a short walk to honfleur but it took over 40 mins (not ideal with a small baby!) No shower screen/curtain so water went everywhere

Review 35:Room/Corridor definitely in need of tlc. One wall socket practically hanging off. Son's put up bed had water marks on the base. Bathroom ceiling also needed attention. Toilet roll dispensed from a steel box!

Review 36:Location is good - walking distance into the centre of Honfleur.

Review 37:My 7 year old suffered terribly with streaming eyes from the chlorine in the pool. We raised this with reception to try and secure an eye wash ( 7pm Wednesday evening) . There was no eye wash in the medical kit and we were told no pharmacy open. I was concerned. Thankfully the crying ( poor mite) and a cool wash flannel seemed to wash her eyes successfully. By 930pm drama over. The children said they felt the pool was better the next day but I made the wee one wear goggles.

Review 38:The building, the entrance, the pool our room. A super super safe clean lovely place to stay.

Review 39:Town centre would be fairly long walk (30 mins)

Review 40:We had one week with frequent rain. However enjoyed the swimming pool , and easy access by car to town centre. Very good breakfasts.

Review 41:Really nothing

Review 42:Quite Hotel , friendly staff , location is perfect , very clean and well maintained. The tall lady at the reception is very professional .

Review 43:The hotel is outside of the main city so you must drive into the city, perhaps a 5-10 minute drive. The bathrooms had been updated but clearly the money was spent on the pool area. The rooms were spacious but lack luster and the beds were not comfortable.

Review 44:The pool and spa were nice and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Review 45:Hotel beginning to feel a bit dated, though well maintained / clean. Shame no restaurant facility on site for evening meal, albeit loads of choice in Honfleur. Shower over bath wasn't great

Review 46:The family room, with the mezzanine floor was a great find compared to typical rooms where two double beds are cramped together. Rooms comfortable and quiet Pool and spa facilities were good, as was breakfast

Review 47:If you are looking for a treatment there make sure you book it when you book your room as they are very popular.

Review 48:The room was very spacious and well insulated in a very green outdoors. Loved the outdoor chess board and pool table. Staff were very friendly and helpful and breakfast worth the price tag... Staff doing treatments are excellent at them, I was told! The pool, sauna and hamam stay open late and there is no time limit to which children can stay there to so definitively a bonus

Review 49:Nothing really, it is a little too far to walk but there is plenty of parking in Honfleur at 4 € for the day so not an issue. Tea/coffee making facilities in room would have made it perfect !

Review 50:Loved the pool, friendly staff - even let us check in at 8.30a.m as room was available!

Review 51:The temperature in the hotel/bedrooms was too warm. The breakfast was too pricey for a continental breakfast. The dog pictures in the corridor

Review 52:The swimming pool /sauna/ hamman. The breakfast The bar The car park The penguin statues !

Review 53:As above No lunch or dinner facility and breakfast too expensive Bath has no meens of safely pulling yourself out of the bath on the wallside, my wife slipped and bruised her side

Review 54:Hotel more than adequate for our needs stayed there before with our children many years ago Shame there is no dinner or lunch service for those wishing to stay and relax, which means you need to leave the hotel and excellant pool facilities to find food, also breakfast price needs to be more competitive, eg if we need to go find dinner we may as well go find a harbour side breakfast a lot cheaper

Review 55:Close to attractions, clean, friendly, and quiet. Could only wish that others we visited while in the French countryside were half as good. Thank You for a wonderful stay.

Review 56:On a corner with traffic lights. Was there noisy, especially with motor bikes roaring away when lights turned green.A long way from town.either walk or take car and look for parking

Review 57:Spa "not all it was made to be" small and therefore crowded,

Review 58:No ceiling lights, 3 lamps only one working. Hair dryer overheated after 30secs. Didn't work. Bathroom had soap scum. Staff at checkout was rude. Talking on the phone the whole time.

Review 59:Nothing really it suited our purpose very well.

Review 60:Nice hotel , friendly staff, the spa and pool facilities were excellent. The rooms were clean and comfortable. ideal for an overnight stay. A short drive into Honfleur.which is well worth visiting

Review 61:no bathroom in tripple room (not consistent with room description) Bad smell in the room no mini bar/no convenient shower (place to put stuff) towels not replaced (then wet the second day) ==>not normal for 3 stars hotel

Review 62:Swimmingpool/SPA close to Honfleur large room large parking calm/quiet room

Review 63:The hotel was located on a busy road, and had no restaurant facilities - other than for breakfast

Review 64:The hotel had lovely spa facilities, friendly staff and was in a good location, just 15 minutes walk from the centre on honfleur

Review 65:Just a bit too far out of town, with poor taxi service, tried booking taxi at reception but would have had to wait over an hour, so took the 25 min walk instead. Coming back taxi rank in town didn't have any taxi's, so another walk

Review 66:Friendly Staff Good breakfast Clean

Review 67:Nothing

Review 68:We stayed for one night with our 2yr old daughter. We wanted a comfortable night's sleep with the option for a dip in a pool after a day in the car but didn't need to be in a town centre. This hotel was ideal.

Review 69:no kettle, no shower screen, no fridge, no power points near bed, wifi near non-existent, noisy room, loud doors, television reception poor. Didn't eat at restaurant, except breakfast, it was ok.

Review 70:Plenty of parking.

Review 71:When we arrived the staff were very welcoming . Our children are 10 and 14 so too old to want to share our room but too young to be alone so our hotel room was excellent with twin beds downstairs with a bathroom and a double upstairs . The pool was lovely. It was a great start for our holiday, in a convenient place near the port

Review 72:Our room was located by busy road junction and the window was kept shutand there was no air conditioning. Staff friendliness was minimal buy ok

Review 73:Location just 15 minute walk into Honfleur and a 30 minute drive fromferry. Room was of good size with all facilites (except tea makingequipment). Small Spa area was good with Sauna and Steam room (althoughyou had to ask for them to be switched on) with no additional charge.

Review 74:No tea and coffee facilities in room rooms were basic and cleanliness could be better Breakfast is over priced for what it was

Review 75:Good location for HOnfleur Spa and pool facilities were good Family room was agood layout

Review 76:I would prefer to have the children in the upstairs room from a security point of view.

Review 77:The beds were extremely comfortable and the rooms very spacious and very clean. Although the hotel was just out of Honfleur it was still within a walkable distance and we had a 4 and 6 year old with us.

Review 78:There really should have been a kettle with Tea and Coffee makingfacilities in the room. Not having them gave the impression that thehotel was trying to make people spend money in the bar each time theywere thirsty. Being able to relax with a tea or coffee in your roomafter a long drive is a basic pleasure which we should expect as astandard facility in good hotels. A list of child friendly local Frenchrestaurants would be a good touch.

Review 79:Family room with upstairs for grown ups was fantastic. Separate wc goodidea! Very comfortable room altogether. Needed Tea and coffee in theroom. The pool facilities were excellent though the half hour Saunaprogram is a mistake. A sauna takes 45 minutes to reach usabletemperatures .Also it needs to be turned on before breakfast or youdon't get the chance to use it in the morning. Perhaps a note toguests to ask for it to be turned on early if they want it in themorning. A lovely hotel that would be excellent with just a couple ofminor adjustments.

Review 80:Very disappointed, when I got up to have a shower and there was no hot water. When I enquired the receptionist was VERY rude, and said try in 5 mins. An hour later still no hot water... not a great start to the holiday. The rooms are ok, they smell a bit and could with some bleach down the toilets. Some tea / coffee making facilities would be good.

Review 81:The check out staff was not good, very cold woman.. When I checked in the staff told me my kids ate breakfast for free then when we checked out charged 24 euros for my 2 kids breakfast.. A huge amount for a bowl of cereal.. The receptionist on check out ruined our stay by being so stern and rude..

Review 82:The hotel was lovely with a pool.. Comfy rooms.

Review 83:A bit too far from Honfleur to walk.

Review 84:Everything was grand. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on the food. One of us used the spa suite which was good. good on site parking. Hassle free stay.

Review 85:Hated the idea that this hotel is out of Honfleur and the address is Honfleur. Must be given the true facts all the way. Not everybody has got time or patience to check the proper whereabouts. Specified that we required a quiet room... We were given one above the entrance, thus, on the car park. Close to the main road.

Review 86:X. Did not like.

Review 87:A long walk to Old Town and port. Irregular bus service was hard to know which bus stopped and where they were going. Expensive breakfast but MacDonald's was close.

Review 88:Clean quiet hotel with pool and sauna. Good old local pub and restaurant across the round-about past MacDonald's.

Review 89:Our third year staying at the Antares since 2011. This hotel is always immaculately clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the fact they speak English does help given my poor but improving French ( I am someone who tries to use French as much as possible). The hotel is convenient for a 5 min drive to the centre of Honfleur or a 20 min walk. There is a very large car park so would never be an issue and is quite secure. We use the Antares for 3 day stopovers whilst travelling to enjoy Honfleur. Breakfast is good but no evening restaurant, this is because Honfleur boasts so many restaurants you are spoilt for choice.

Review 90:On this occasion we arrived to find we were in a twin room when our booking was for a double. Spoke to the receptionist who apologised and gave us a room in the annexe - which turned out to have twin beds too! Although they were abutting. We didn't realise to start and then it seemed pointless complaining again by the time we did realise. Our room would have been OK but for the hot weather. No air conditioning or fan even and could not sleep. The corridors have push lights but they are so dark you can"t see where to push (a problem in the main hotel too). There is something wrong in the annexe. Horrible smell reminiscent of wet plaster pervaded the public rooms and corridors (fortunately not the room). Also, the lift was shuddering horribly. We aren't lightweight but we don't weigh 160 kilos so suspect it needs maintenance. Worst thing was in the stairwell (taken to avoid getting trapped in lift) - absolutely stank of pee?? Dont know how that could be and smell seemed to have subsided by the next day. Oh, and at midnight, people in the room next door threw open their window, started chattering away, and then smoked a few cigarettes. Of course the smoke came straight in through our window. Don't know what the hotel can do about that but it was very irritating.

Review 91:Breakfast is great with plenty of choice. Particularly like the fact there is a choice of hard or soft boiled eggs and pink grapefruit juice (some don't have pink grapefruit) Also the fruit salad is quite nice. Hotel has a bar, nice sitting area and a pool table. Parking is usually easy as the hotel has a good size car park. Staff speak English but if you are trying out your French they usually give you a chance before swapping to English. And they are generally pleasant and helpful. Towels are (just) adequate size. And more available upon request. Swimming pool, spa and pleasant garden areas. Location fine

Review 92:25-30 minutes walk from Honfleur (hotel is actually in an adjoining suburb) The spa was NOT available until two days after our stay of three days. I suspect that in fact an external masseuse only comes in each Wednesday! Its is NOT really a spa and wellness hotel so don't be fooled. It has NO restaurant for room staying customers contrary to the impression given on its site. Our room was right next to the road which has traffic lights so not quiet although I requested a quiet room. The rooms are NOT sound proofed worth noting...although it claims on its site that they are. The passageways and rooms are extremely dull even in daylight and not well lit at all in the evenings.

Review 93:Staff fine and rooms clean. Pets accepted very OK.

Review 94:Breakfast buffet mediocre and very poor value for money at €12 per person. You could have put together a much tastier breakfast yourself from Lidl, which is just down the road.

Review 95:The swimming pool and the gardens. Quiet location.

Review 96:unable to buy hot food at any time. lack of staff to serve drinks. hotel only interested in filling beds.could be a really good place to stay if more food available. tv only transmits in french.

Review 97:pool

Review 98:The sauna and the swimming pool. Bed rooms are ok.

Review 99:Bed not comfy, cheap pillows, Resturant was not open during our stay which was one reason we booked this hotel

Review 100:Nice staff, clean hotel

Review 101:Walk into town

Review 102:Swimming pool

Review 103:The bedrooms were very basic and small

Review 104:The pool table and garden were nice

Review 105:No restaurant facilities except for breakfast which was quite expensive for what looked quite a basic offering

Review 106:Hotel convenient parking good

Review 107:The location the staff not helpful unless you were French

Review 108:Not much

Review 109:family room and nice staff as well as pool

Review 110:Large family room worked perfectly

Review 111:No restaurant facilities, breakfast was expensive on top of hotel fees

Review 112:Good parking facilities

Review 113:It was all good

Review 114:Friendly professional and helpfull staff, excellent facilities

Review 115:Very sparse rooms. No coffee or tea.

Review 116:Ease of check in.

Review 117:douche accroche pas top

Review 118:ensembles tres correct

Review 119:Service was slow at the bar

Review 120:Location really convenient for Honfleur

Review 121:It's just outside the town of Honfleur! 20-30 minutes walk to the centre ok during the day but at night not so.

Review 122:The room was too warm, without aircon, so I had to open the windows...to traffic noise...

Review 123:Pool & Spa was Awesome - Hotel is great location, just a short walk into Honfleur

Review 124:Vuil tapijt in kamer en gangen.

Review 125:Ruime kamer

Review 126:No shower curtain.

Review 127:The swimming pool

Review 128:The hotel is very clean and the staff friendly.

Review 129:-dirty, smelling room -no baby bed for 2 year old

Review 130:+pool and sauna Ok: breakfast

Review 131:Very helpful

Review 132:Bed a little uncomfortable and quite away from Honfleur centre

Review 133:pool, breakfast
