Reviews for The Bank

Review 1:We liked everything very much but, if you want a constructive criticism: the steak on stone was delicious but a bit of a pointless gimmick. Leaving the steak on the stone didn't seem to make any difference to how well it was cooked and, in the meantime, the rest of the meal was going cold! I don't go out to dinner to cook for myself !!!!

Review 2:Lovely room. Cheerful and helpful staff. Excellent value for money. Brilliant heart attack inducing breakfast!

Review 3:Location perfect, staff friendly, food and waitress service superb, accommodation clean, spacious and comfortable we will certainly be returning to the Bank

Review 4:We paid full price and asked for a sea view but were allocated a street view.

Review 5:Relaxing and close to the harbour. The evening meal and breakfast were excelent.

Review 6:The welcoming reception, the Absolutely beautiful room, everything there from tea and coffee, toiletries, even a small fridge holding bottles of mineral water. The menu extensive and food delightful and presented first class. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast once again presented first class, fresh fruit, cheeses and your Scottish breakfest full marks whoever is your butcher and chef.

Review 7:We were very disappointed in our choice of food from your evening menu. The roast beef was tough and had to be returned. The chicken curry was nondescript to say the least.

Review 8:We thought the bedroom and bathroom accommodation was very good - a couple of easy chairs would have made everything perfect!

Review 9:Room quite small. Dinner menu different from menu on website. We both had halibut and one was cooked perfectly and the other one was overcooked and tough. We complained but we were not given anything to compensate for this.

Review 10:Breakfast very good. Staff very helpful. Room quiet and warm.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:Lovely hotel, friendly helpful staff. Excellent breakfast included in price restaurant menu very good and reasonably priced. Will definitely return.

Review 13:Got a pleasant surprise at the size of room, it was lovely. The staff were really friendly. We had an evening meal in the bar area as the dining room was full but the food was excellent! Will definitely be back and will recommend.

Review 14:bed and pillows a bit uncomfortable/hard and room 6 became a bit noisy at one point

Review 15:nice and friendly / good food / easy access, overall one of the nicest laid back hotels i havestayed at.

Review 16:There was nothing we did not like.

Review 17:Everything about the hotel was great, room and bathroom. Food was great with a great restaurant and the staff are great too, nothing is too much trouble.

Review 18:Everything! The staff were amazing and couldn't be more accommodating. The rooms were huge and very comfortable.

Review 19:I had emailed hotel before we arrived to request room 1. It had been recommended by my sister and husband. It was a special occasion for us because it was my husband's birthday. My husband has been very ill recently and is in the middle of a course of chemo so I wanted the trip to be perfect for him. I was so disappointed when we arrived to be shown into a different room. However, despite this setback we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 20:Accomodation was very comfortable. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Staff were very friendly. We didn't want to go home!

Review 21:We wouldn't get the SKY TV to work and the wifi was kinda slow. We were not there to watch TV or surf the net though so wasn't that bad but the instructions said turn to channel 9002 and we couldn't make it work.

Review 22:Loved the room, The view was amazing. Room was super clean and the bath was amazing. The food was also good and very handy having the pub so close.

Review 23:Pen didn't work so couldn't leave a message in the visitors book

Review 24:Everything - staff, food, cleanliness, ambience, outside beer garden, access to beach.

Review 25:the staff were helpful and friendly ,great room view on to beach nice comfy bed, big tv and great big bath and its right next to all the shops and the meal was good too

Review 26:Nothing at all.

Review 27:We were greeted by a lovely young man who showed us to our room which was superb. Beautiful view over the beach. Room was clean and well presented.

Review 28:Early morning traffic as right on the main road. People with e cigarettes in the Bar one evening.

Review 29:Good location, friendly staff. Nice food. Comfy bed, spacious room.

Review 30:A lovely location, with the sound of the sea to lull you to sleep. the staff were great. the food in the dining room (which had a nice view!) was delicious.

Review 31:Not major problem but the noise from the hand dryer in the out toilets above the room was quite prominent.

Review 32:Comfortable room, helpful staff and nice view from the room.

Review 33:Location, the views from the Dining Room were fabulous. Excellent menu and fabulous breakfast choice. Fantastic large bedroom and great bathroom. No complaints whatsoever.

Review 34:Nothing bad - only one slight disappointment. We booked in January for August and our confirmation said we had a sea view. When we arrived, this was not the case. I know they not all rooms have a sea view, but I would have thought we would have managed to get one when we booked almost 8. Months before the trip.

Review 35:It's character, it's location and its splendidly large bedroom

Review 36:Having to go outside the accom block, then re enter the "Pub Section" to have breakfast in the rear dining room.No lounge for guests, only in very noisy pub, dining room mostly occupied by outside public. Having to book to get a table at evening meal, best positioned tables reserved most times,in fact we never had a meal there.

Review 37:Location, Room,Breakfast.

Review 38:Room 8! It's below the main bar toilets and the sound carries. So you get lots of footsteps, flushing, dryer. Plus the pub music is audible. It all stopped by midnight so not bad but then any early morning movements and you're gonna hear them! Stay on the ground floor or above!

Review 39:Great and friendly service throughout. Lovely choice on dinner menu. Nice views over the water.

Review 40:Parking spaces limited and on street. Have to book in using the public bar area.

Review 41:Fabulous position overlooking the sea. Rooms very large and on-suite huge. Restaurant very good. Ignore the problems with parking and booking in - the rest is more than worth the hassle.

Review 42:Night disturbed by inconsiderate, inebriated fellow residents gibbering bull***t outside room until 2am. Got up and went outside to ask them to shut up (or words to that effect).

Review 43:Friendly helpful staff. Ideal location. Extremely clean, well finished rooms, great breakfast and excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend to others.

Review 44:Nothing to speak of on this topic!

Review 45:First impressions found staff extremely welcoming, and throughout our stay this same trait continued to be displayed. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, and of good quality. Cleanliness,as well as decor throughout the hotel was impressive.

Review 46:They were having problems with their wi-fi, but it wasn't a major thing to do without it for a few days.

Review 47:Very friendly and helpful staff. Food very good. Though no car parking at hotel plenty free parking close by.

Review 48:Our room was above the bar and the incessant noise went on til 1.30am. I voiced my concerns when paying and have sent 2 emails to the Bank in reply to their request for feedback and have had no acknowledgement. I was awaiting their answer before I gave this feedback.

Review 49:View from dining room and excellent breakfast.

Review 50:Parking facility not very close. Stayed for two days and room wasn't vacuumed when it was "straightened up."

Review 51:Large room and bath, tv, good view of harbor. Excellent breakfast, and amenities.

Review 52:not applicable

Review 53:lovely friendly young staff- nothing was too much trouble. breakfasts were the best we have ever had- the fresh fruit choices were a real treat, and the range of choice for cooked breakfast was terrific. the whole stay was marvellous

Review 54:not much wrong really maybe just as we had room at the front it was a bit noisy from road traffic.

Review 55:The room was more like a suite it was so big. Excellent to have a fridge in the room, bed was very comfortable, staff very helpfull and friendly.

Review 56:Room was above the bar which allowed the outside

Review 57:The hotel surpassed all expectations as we travelled around the country. There wasn't anything that would could have wanted different. The included breakfast rivalled the best we had had.

Review 58:People from the bar talking loudly after 11pm. Not the hotel's fault certainly, but it slightly detracted from the whole experience.

Review 59:What not to like. Situation - splendid room with ample extras and as an added bonus- wonderfully charming staff.

Review 60:We honestly liked everything

Review 61:Fabulous break.Hotel was in a great location, staff were friendly and efficient.Food was of a great quality.First class chef.ate all meals in hotel and couldn't fault anything.

Review 62:Only thing was I could connect to WiFi in room. Phone kept scanning. Fine in the bar though.

Review 63:Great efficant staff. Beautiful room. Lucky enough to have sea views. Great sleep. Would have loved to stay longer. Just perfect.

Review 64:The wardrobe in our room was too small - half taken up by a fridge - so no room for suits and dresses to hang Also wi-fi signal in our room not strong - had to stand in the hallway at top of stairs to get wi-fi

Review 65:Room nice - staff very helpful and friendly - restaurant excellent - with good views of harbour

Review 66:Noise from the bar. Once that quietened down it was only a couple of hours till newspapers were delivered to the shop opposite.

Review 67:Lovely big room and good bed. Brilliant breakfast

Review 68:I requested a quiet room on my booking form but was given the room right next to the busy road/car parking and the front door, unbelievably noisy.

Review 69:Our room was on busy road into town. Make sure that you have a room away from the front of the hotel.

Review 70:Close to ocean and harbour. Walk out of hotel and you are right on the harbour.

Review 71:I had requested a sea view when I booked but that was ignored, although we thought the room we got was really lovely so it was ok.wifi did not work in our room

Review 72:Have just returned from a one night stay at 'the Bank' with my mum. We found the hotel really lovely, a little disappointed that our request for a seaside was ignored but more than made up for by the size and quality of the room we were given. So clean, comfortable and fresh, really good quality bedding, had a great night's sleep. The bath was a great feature too, really long and modern and enormous tv. Breakfast in the morning was very nice, the selection of fresh fruits a lovely touch and we both went for full Scottish, very tasty and filling, didn't eat again until we checked out the famous fish bar in the evening. Friendly staff and such good value, we were actually looking to stay in St Andrews but it's crazy expensive for a comparable room with breakfast, so a much better option to visit St Andrews in the day/ evening meal then pop over here afterwards. Thank you

Review 73:Room was lovely with sea views and a huge deep bath which was great after all that walking. There was a race night on during our stay and the bar was really busy but it wasn't a problem for us. Breakfast was great as well so go on and book a room.

Review 74:I loved everything. Already planning to come back!

Review 75:Everything! Beautiful spacious room, huge variety of TV channels, lovely shower amenities, fridge with complimentary water, vouchers for complimentary drinks, amazing breakfast, private beach. There was a problem with my booking (Booking.com told me the booking was £10 less than it should have been) and they handled it with grace and professionalism.

Review 76:Had a great overnight at the Bank. Fantastic room. Was in room no 1. It was very large and well appointed. Comprised a queen sized bed which was very comfortable with quality linen and pillows. Huge bath and good quality toiletries. Great beer garden One small negative. Found 2 vouchers for a free drink onthe morning of our departure, they could of been brought to our attention the night before. Overall a great place to stay and will return

Review 77:The owners have worked hard to establish a well run hotel with friendly staff who are extremely helpful. The food was of a high standard and the presentation was excellent.

Review 78:parking, different entrance for rooms and restaurant which meant we needed to go outside in the rain. Short staffed at breakfast on one of the mornings and had to wait for 40 minutes for our table for dinner but it was booked at short notice and was for 11 people. No grab handle in the bathroom and it was a deep bath.

Review 79:The choice at breakfast. The fittings and furnishings. The location with sea views. The staff were very helpful and pleasant throughout. The garden area with decking.

Review 80:There was nothing not to like.

Review 81:Apart from everything... to mention a few would be the room and the view from our room, the spa bath in the room. The friendly staff, the food and location.

Review 82:Another chair would be nice. The huge TV was new and couldn't get Sky but that wasn't the fault of the staff. If the weather wasn't so good it would have been more of a problem. It will be connected soon.

Review 83:Location. View. Helpful friendly staff. Food. Smart room.

Review 84:Rooms above the beer garden can be a bit noisy at times with smoke coming into the room if the window is left open. Bed could be a bit more comfortable.

Review 85:Wonderful breakfast with great coffee, fresh fruits, amazing fresh seafood and warm croissants. Beautiful location right on the water overlooking the little estuary. Great helpful and amazingly friendly staff. Will definitely be back to stay! Very nice shortbread cookies and bottles of water replaced in the room each day!

Review 86:There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel.

Review 87:Location, View, Room, Garden, Breakfast, Service/Staff - were all excellent. Would be more the happy to recommend to friends and family. We will certainly come back.

Review 88:Only trying to cross the road -to get to our parked car, lots of roadworks going on at the moment!

Review 89:We had a lovely short break, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was so good, the porridge in the morning was heavenly! the view from our room could not be beaten! We will be back.

Review 90:The room was superb, facilities excellent, the view was great, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast in the lovely new dining room. Top marks for the Bank.

Review 91:Not many negatives, parking not easy and checking in at the bar not ideal but overall experience good.

Review 92:Size of room, decor, friendly staff and quality of food. Really enjoyable stay.

Review 93:No wi-fi in bedroom, had to take our iPads into bar area which we are not too keen to do.

Review 94:With the exception of no wi-fi in our bedroom everything was excellent......

Review 95:The views from the bedroom window were amazing, along with a really comfortable bed. Staff made you feel so welcome, and the food was also superb, plus everything was spotless.

Review 96:We can't praise The Bank highly enough. We will definitely be back & this time will dine here as the menu was so enticing. The view from our room was spectacularly good

Review 97:No bad experiences, we were in room 3, the only minor negative was at times it could be a tad noisy outside....but wouldn't stop me from returning to this lovely hotel.

Review 98:The staff were excellent, the food was fabulous and hotel was really clean...lovely bedroom

Review 99:Couldn't get a room at the back - front rooms noisy due to main road and lack of double glazing. Couldn't connect to free wi-fi from room - but no big deal.

Review 100:Very comfortable rooms, well equipped and tastefully decorated, also practical touches. Much improved breakfast and dining room.

Review 101:Both the evening meals and the breakfast were cool by the time they were delivered to the table. The coffee at breakfast was also only luke warm

Review 102:The rooms were excellent and there was a very good choice of food on the menue

Review 103:in the room was very cold first hours. The heating started to work only around midnight. The wi-fi was not working

Review 104:excellent staff, good location, excellent breakfast

Review 105:The wi-fi was a bit patchy but we were informed that BT was on the case. We were also told that checking out time was 10.30 but your booking confirmation said 11o'clock. It was not a problem but a bit embarassing.

Review 106:The rooms were large and very comfortable. The food was very good. There was an easy relaxed feeling around the bar and restaurant

Review 107:That we had to leave the following day.....

Review 108:Highly recommend Room 1, which was superb in all respects and the view is simply stunning..... We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and then relaxed in our room before enjoying a great night's sleep in the large comfortable bed. Undoubtedly, we will return to this little gem.

Review 109:Parking was a little "dodgy", and i am not sure if there is any space specifically for guests.

Review 110:Huge bedroom and bathroom, both very well furnished and clean. Truly excellent breakfast. Lovely view towards the sea, beyond the neighbouring property's garden.

Review 111:Having to leave the next day! Off site parking could be a problem if you're not up to walking far, although not a long way off, the car park was uphill. There was room outside the hotel for three cars, if you're lucky to get in!

Review 112:We arrived early evening after playing golf at Elie, (which is well worth a visit) in need of a bit of R & R! The staff were very helpful carrying our luggage upstairs to our lovely big room, which was tastefully fitted out & decorated. After a welcome hot shower in the delightful en suite bathroom we had a few drinks in the bar (very reasonable prices) before retiring to our room to watch TV. Having eaten at the golf club we were not so hungry, so didn't eat in the restaurant, which was very busy, but had a bar snack instead which was very good.Excellent breakfast, with plenty of choice, with lovely views from the dining room. They cater for golfers & walkers, with a room to leave your equipment etc. We would highly recommend the hotel & Anstruther is a delightful place.

Review 113:Room 2 is at the front of the hotel and can be noisy with both pub coming /going and road noise.

Review 114:Beautiful large room with fab bath/shower and all facilities needed for a short stay. Breakfast was delicious and hearty. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere in pub area. We also enjoyed the high tea and would recommend the fish!

Review 115:Room was at the front of hotel and there was a bit of noise from traffic and people leaving bars and restaurants late at night. Not a major problem though.

Review 116:The room was fabulous! Really large, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Ate in restaurant. Food excellent and staff could not have been nicer.

Review 117:Bed was left unmade, cup taken out of our room for no apparent reason, had to make detour to restaurant to get replacement. Other guests paid less and also got bottle of wine and three course meal included in price. Bit disappointing when one is senior citizens in limited budget. Would all going well still return.

Review 118:Our fourth stay so normally everything excellent

Review 119:We were staying for 4 days and our room was your smallest, with no seating or place for our luggage. This made it a bit uncomfortable.

Review 120:Staff were excellent. Food and accommodation excellent.

Review 121:Would have liked more fresh local produce, especially seafood, on the menu

Review 122:Very quiet room with beautiful sea view from window, comfortable bed, and well-equipped bathroom

Review 123:The internet in the rooms were terrible.

Review 124:Nice locations and the rooms were great. Better than average shower compared to others on my trip. Excellent food.

Review 125:Lack of hotel car park. Check out at 1030 a bit early.

Review 126:Size of room. Food. Good breakfast. View from room. Quiet location but minutes from centre of Anstruther.

Review 127:Room at front noisy, due to location opposite convenience store with very, very, early morning deliveries-perhaps double glazing would solve this. Pity this hotel has no onsite parking.

Review 128:Cleanliness, well decorated, good furnishings, decent size room and bathroom, linen spotless. Dinning room-bar facilities very good.Staff excellent, very polite and helpful. The hotel is a very good base for exploring Fife.

Review 129:Noisey,as was staying in a front room Also no parking at hotel

Review 130:Food was very good as had an evening meal, also the breakfast set you up for the day, plenty choices The staff were first class very attentitive

Review 131:Wifi rubbish in our room but fully available in the public areas.

Review 132:Beautifully appointed and spacious rooms. Friendly welcome, helpful staff. Food of good standard and great choice for breakfast. Overall an enjoyable place with everything you need to enjoy your time in the East Neuk.

Review 133:Couldn't get a sleep at all. Ground floor room too noisy it was as if the people talking outside were in the room with us. Deliveries to shops across the street very early in the morning. No sleep for two nights. Don't be going there.

Review 134:Lovely rooms Breakfasts not bad. Staff not very friendly didn't see one with a smile on their face.

Review 135:Difficult to criticise anything but wifi in room was non existent. Wifi in bar area was good though.

Review 136:Superb enormous room with excellent furnishings. Sitting area with 45"tv. Good atmosphere in pub with seaview from dining room. Good food. Car park across road, extremely good value.
