Reviews for Le Domaine de Pont Aven Art Gallery Resort
Review 1:Most of breakfast contains too much sugar for diabetic guests. No food available on Sunday evenings. Nearest restaurant a steep walk (in the rain!)
Review 2:Friendly, relaxing and comfortable.
Review 3:Breakfast was expensive for what was offered. Fruit salad was all apple. Pastries small. All self service including drinks. Only 2 tea bags per day and sometimes no milk. Pets allowed, dog de stressed in adjacent room when left by it's owners.
Review 4:Size of room, bathroom facilities. Position of hotel. Fridge available. Very friendly staff
Review 5:A very modern hotel with plenty of parking. Everything was fine, especially the terrace with garden view. It doesn't look too close to the centre on the map, but there is a shortcut - you go down a long stairs, and in 3 minutes you are in the middle of everything!
Review 6:The hotel was located at the top of a steep hill which may have proved difficult for some.
Review 7:Facilities and staff were very good and access to a small swimming pool was very welcome at the end of a hot day! Restaurant staff and food were very good - particularly enjoyed the barbeque!
Review 8:Cant think of anything.
Review 9:Fantastic hotel, it was an old girls catholic school, that has been tastefully modernised. Public areas great, good sized indoor pool and sun deck. Rooms spacious, we had one in the main building. Food very good, Staff couldn't help us enough and we had a real laugh making cocktails in the bar. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel as a place to stay. You can walk into Pont avon, but it is down 100 steps so not for the infirm. Good base to explore area.
Review 10:Word of caution for elderly or children on the steps down to the port. A lovely feature but potentially dangerous, especially after dark!
Review 11:Beautiful location, excellent hotel.
Review 12:Access from car park to room a little tortuous. Car was immediately in fron of our room but there was a wall and a fence. Luggage had to be carried/dragged to reception and then back on an inner walkway which then had a flight of stairs to negotiate. A gate at the far end of the block would have easily solved this. Breakfast at 12.50 euro was not good. It was fairly chaotic and supplies were low. Coffee ran out and when refilled went all over the serving area. Staff were very pleasant but seemed very nervous.
Review 13:Room was large and bed was comfortable. Tea and coffee was in the room - very good. Restaurant meal in evening was good at 22 for a set three course menu (but if you're really hungry then you might be disappointed). Location for the town was great with a short walk direct from the hotel down a wooded path to the river.
Review 14:A really nice bar and terrace area that was not used by guests due to lack of any entertainment or activity which was only staffed by reception staff. Swimming pool - very small.
Review 15:Location and helpful friendly staff.
Review 16:Had the BBQ buffet and the selection was very poor... £24 per adult and £12 for children. Extremely over priced for what was on offer.
Review 17:Very central location, very clean, perfect for our family of 2 adults and 3 children, which sometimes can be difficult to find.
Review 18:The balcony made me a little nervous with young children but it can be locked from inside and the key taken out which was great. Would love to stay here again. Perfect end to the holidays.
Review 19:Immaculate and spacious accommodation. Perfect for last night in France before travelling to Roscoff. One and a half hours to Roscoff by car from here. We didn't have breakfast as there was a boulangerie close by.
Review 20:The air conditioning didnt work and the bedrooms were very hot at night. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and you have to get in early to get a choice. They dont tend to refill anything very often.
Review 21:The staff were vey welcoming and friendly.
Review 22:Most staff were quite young and somewhat unexperienced, i.p with breakfast, but they were willing to help and friendly overall. Airconditioning made weird noises throughout the night. Swimming pool is clean but area is too hot
Review 23:Pleasant location; very friendly reception and introduction. Well decorated rooms, exhibiting contemporary art and this was displayed with care throughout lobby and restaurant, excellent idea. Decent food for fair prices.
Review 24:On arrival we were told that there was only one meal available in the dinning room !! and it contained meat, not much good as my wife is a vegetarian and they could not/ would not offer anything other than the ONE meal on the Sunday night menu !!. So we traversed the 109 steps down to Pont Aven found a very nice helpful restaurant. At breakfast (12 euro 50) we found the usual continental set up including an array of breakfast cereal which we helped ourselves to, but when we asked for milk we were told they did not have any !
Review 25:Clean tidy and great location, staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and fresh and had good private parking.
Review 26:Not a big deal, but you need to fit for the hundred steps down - and up - if walking into town. Otherwise very convenient.
Review 27:Size of room and bathroom. Balcony.
Review 28:If it was within walking distance of Pont-Aven centre it would be perfect but it's at the top of a hill I wouldn't fancy walking up!! No choice on the dinner menu tho it was a night when the restaurant wasn't meant to be open!
Review 29:Great hotel, delicious food, excellent staff. Nice sized rooms, colourful gardens in a v quiet area.
Review 30:The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Excellent access via steps to the port and town. Though you need to be reasonably fit! We will use the hotel again without question.
Review 31:The self catering houses are really lovely however they are a very short walk from the main hotel. Thus if like me you struggle with walking and the cold it would not be ideal if the weather was not good so take appropriate clothes for your walk from the pool to your accomadation. Also nothing that the hotel can do about this, although it is central to everything you do need to get down steps. I've limited mobility and managed it, but it was tough at the start of the holiday but I was getting better at it. I wouldn't let this put you off, because it really is an exceptional place to stay. And it will not put us off from returning, just things to be aware of.
Review 32:Great meal in the restaurant with exceptionally attentive staff. They looked after us throughout our staff and wanted to ensure we were enjoying ourselves, the art on the walls reinforce that you are staying in such a rich creative town with over 60 galleries. The accommodation was immaculate and thoughtfully laid out. We needed for nothing. The relaxing pool complex was very quiet and ideal with the staff happy to ensure the sauna was on for you too despite it being very early season. It is a great base for exploring the area and we would definitely stay here again. The staff genuinely care and speak exceptional English and were happy to let us practice our French too. Thank you for making it so special for us.
Review 33:Breakfast is very poor I went down to enjoy the buffet they offer at the hotel but eventually changed my mind when I saw the buffet. A second bottle of water should be added to the minibar. One is not enough.
Review 34:The bathroom is very nice and clean The room size is very decent ! Quiet Good bed quality ! Restaurant serves very nice diners.
Review 35:Too far away from 'all the action' in the town itself for us. The meal was disappointing and the restaurant itself was very gawdily furnished, not at all relaxing, ditto the lounge and bar area, but this is all a matter of taste. I imagine in high season, it would be very noisey due to the ultra modern and spartan décor and furnishings.
Review 36:Balcony was superb, with a splendid view of Pont Aven's estuary and harbour. Suite was excellent (we upgraded) and we had a great night's sleep.Pool was wonderful. Receptionist was delightful, and extremely helpful. Pleasant owners.
Review 37:there seemed to be no ambiance and it came over as very clinical, didnt seem to have any staff or anything going for it, was ok but wouldnt stay again, pool was very nice but no robes in room so had to go to the pool fully clothed instead of going down in a robe, you could hire a robe for 10 euros which as a so called 4 star hotel didnt think one should have to do this.
Review 38:it was ok.
Review 39:I would have liked a BBQ with the self catering. Even a communal one would suffice.
Review 40:We stayed in the 3 different parts of the hotel. All were excellent. We were joined by friends so we moved from hotel to the self catering. It had all the facilities for two couples. It was good value when shared by two.
Review 41:The steps back up the hill from Pont Aven.... ... but good for a bit of exercise and nothing to do with the hotel :-)
Review 42:Staff welcome General Facilities Location Room size and layout Easy parking
Review 43:Arrived after 2 pm, to be told no food was available, even though there was a room service card in the room. First available food was 7 pm in the restaurant. Generally poor food choice. Whoever though Buck Wheat Chips was a good idea needs the guillotine. Ry-vita strips would have been more appetizing. We ate out after the first night.
Review 44:Bright, Clean rooms with good amenities. Views over the river. Pool was a nice addition as weather was poor.
Review 45:It was difficult to find the hotel - the hotel is not located in the centre. The steps to the town were a little hard-going.
Review 46:The hotel was reasonably priced and the rooms were tastefully furnished. The staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant was good. I particularly liked the tranquil pretty grounds.
Review 47:There were a lot of steep steps down to the town. Not a problem for us, but not for small children or anyone with mobility problems. The pool wasn't that big.
Review 48:The family apartment was very clean and modern with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. We enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but there was a large fridge/ freezer and a 4 ring hob. The restaurant was excellent. The staff were very pleasant. We enjoyed a very comfortable stay.
Review 49:Food was only mediocre.
Review 50:Pleasant garden viewed from our balcony. Nice compact spa area. Easy walk down to the port. Staff was very nice especially at breakfast.
Review 51:1. Breakfast wasn't well organised - ran out of items and cutlery and plates. Staff very slow and unresponsive. 2. Location - I expected it to be closer to the river - not up 108 steps !! - maybe should consider a shuttle service of some sort.
Review 52:Generally everything about the hotel - clean, high quality in general, bedrooms good.
Review 53:Pool a little small, also outdoor option would be nice considering the weather we were fortunate enough to experience. Also 17:00 finishing time for apartment users is a bit early/limiting.
Review 54:Apartment perfect for short family stay. Good facilities, very clean, friendly staff, secure parking. Access by foot to town (if you can handle the steps!).
Review 55:Never had to have accommodation checked by a member of staff before we left checked out before, was strange.
Review 56:Restaurant was excellent, food and service was exceptional. Our little "house" was spotless and very well equipped.
Review 57:A modern hotel with good facilities, but didn't have the same charming atmosphere as those lovely cottage like jotlrs along Pont Aven.
Review 58:Nice clean and modern facilities
Review 59:Too far outside the village to walk & roads were not lit at night. Grey paint everywhere is a bit depressing.
Review 60:Beautiful balcony outside the bar overlooking the garden & a terrace restaurant. V friendly reception staff. Restaurant is excellent if a little expensive Breakfast buffet was good
Review 61:The pool was cold
Review 62:The staff was friendly
Review 63:Breakfast not great. Very little selection
Review 64:Staff brilliant and very helpful.
Review 65:Over a hundred steps or a long walk around down to the town. good breakfast, but was extra and expensive.
Review 66:Beautiful town, lovely relaxing hotel.
Review 67:Great location, really helpful staff, clean throughout, excellent pool, wide range of quality food. Fantastic value for the rooms.
Review 68:Drains in the self catering apartments can be a bit smelly......
Review 69:Quiet and well maintained hotel, easily accessible. Very friendly and helpful staff
Review 70:The staff were exceptional. Travelled with 2 young children and demanding wife who enjoyed 2 great days. I can not fault this hotel in any way.
Review 71:steps down to town quick route down but very steep not good for the eldery
Review 72:very freindly and clean lovely hotel
Review 73:no outlook
Review 74:Wifi kept going down and was very slow
Review 75:Friendly staff and room
Review 76:Convenient location and plenty of parking
Review 77:Pool closed at 5pm. Terrace garden full of weeds. Dirty crockery in cupboards
Review 78:Pleasant staff. Good location
Review 79:Not easy to find
Review 80:Ambience
Review 81:Quality and layout of apartments
Review 82:Tight parking spots. But nothing really to complain about.
Review 83:Quiet, charming, green location; walk into town; lovely terrace.
Review 84:A bit away from the center without a car.
Review 85:Spacious and comfortable
Review 86:Clean. Friendly. Peaceful. Pretty villabe
Review 87:Charming town, our room had a spectacular view and was very comfortable and spacious
Review 88:Steps into town, dining room too clinical and minimalistic, not a cosy atmosphere for dining.
Review 89:As review
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:A bit of luxury in a beautiful town. Superb position.
Review 92:to high deposit
Review 93:very good location and value for money clean, and well equiped
Review 94:Nothing to complain about
Review 95:Straightforward and simple! Good facilities within the accommodation! Clean and modern
Review 96:It was all good
Review 97:Friendly staff and a great restaurant
Review 98:heated pool location clean
Review 99:Breakfast was extremely basic for the price paid. Found the hotel a bit clinical.
Review 100:The room was large and very quiet, the staff were friendly and helpful
Review 101:"Terrace" looked over the back of the next property. Not somewhere you would want to sit. And the hotel was a little out of town.
Review 102:A mini-house for the price of a hotel room. Spotless and comfortable.
Review 103:Bedroom ceiling was sloped over the bed one side, so it felt cramped - and even at 5' 2" I bumped my head.
Review 104:Fabulous food Friendly staff Close walk to centre of town
Review 105:Eggs only to order at breakfast
Review 106:I had some doubts before booking as this is not the cheapest option in Brittany's countryside, but it's worth every cent! Old building refurbished to meet contemporary standards of comfort while keeping ancient charm. Everything is very new and modern, and probably most comfy hotel bed I slept in! Secure parking. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. My room had a small terrace, garden view and it was very calm. I woke up with birds singing in the morning! Excellent restaurant and breakfast. Overall very good 4*, highly recommended. And not to forget, Pont Aven is a lovely village worth a visit!
Review 107:The hotel was pleasant but the view was only of the garden and pretty ordinary.
Review 108:Pont Aven is beautiful & the hotel was very close to the main village
Review 109:nothing - everything was good.
Review 110:everything was great. perfect location, great friendly staff, terrific service and excellent food. Stay here if you are in pont aven!
Review 111:The hotel menu was v good but did not change at all - always the same Formule on offer. We were told too late that demi-pension was available.
Review 112:Very pleasant, comfortable hotel which served as a good base for visiting and exploring that part of south Brittany.
Review 113:This was a very comfortable hotel with big rooms, a nice patio for each room and a fabulous restaurant. It's a bit 'sterile' and lacking in charm (it has kind of a "corporate hotel feel, rather than a "mom and pop" family-run hotel feel), but I would certainly stay here again, as it was clean and comfortable. Again, the restaurant was fabulous. It was also easily linked to the lovely town of Pont-Aven via a stairway down to the river.
Review 114:Food was poor and expensive. Bar prices excessive and poor service. Path leading to the town was very steep and should have railings installed.
Review 115:Rooms were spacious and clean.
Review 116:If anything, just that the swimming pool was a bit limited - more suitable for teaching young babies than for swimming.
Review 117:Friendly staff. Good sized (family) room with balcony. Comfortable beds. Very good buffet breakfast with bacon and eggs (French-style) available too.
Review 118:wouldn't know
Review 119:very nice room, bathroom, koffie and teefacilities perfect, fridge, very good bed, noicefree room, nice balcony with little table and chairs, delicious end fresh breakfast, friendly staff we regret we didn't had diner in the hotel....
Review 120:We took an apartment with two bedrooms as it was the only room left in the resort. Didn't like the fact that the person who checked us in did not bother to tell us there was a wonderful antique yacht festival in town that night and it wasn't till we saw all the fireworks at 11.30 pm we realized anything was happening. How sad to hear and see down at the River the next morning all the wonderful things / food / bands/ yachts. etc that had been available for the evening. It is the first place in over 50 yrs of travelling where we had to clean our unit to immaculate condition before we left. Also in the units there was NO air con. Being a family / friendly resort we had to put up with noisy children in the unit next door.
Review 121:It was clean and comfortable .
Review 122:We really enjoyed our stay, but maybe a games room with say a pool table and ping pong for the older children.
Review 123:Very friendly staff. Good accommodation. Pleasant ambience. Near enough to town to walk, but far enough away. Great setting.
Review 124:No welcome tray for late arrivals Poor instructions on what to do when arriving after the reception was closed No prior warning of 5 am visit on the day of departure to check apartment. No external lighting available in early morning on our departure.
Review 125:The town was amazing -local market, a local festival and beautiful walks along the river. The people were friendly and helpful. The apartment was lovely and secure.
Review 126:the restaurant was expensive.
Review 127:the layout of the hotel meant that our room was quiet. the furnishings were modern and very clean. the room was very realxing. the private route to the town allowed us to easily walk into the centre.
Review 128:Location - 10 minute steep climb on foot above the village not really in the village as described.
Review 129:Good room layout. Efficient staff. Ample secure parking Good wifi in room
Review 130:The problem with the ground-floor room is that it is directly above thepool and one can hear the low hum from the filters all night-then around8am the noise gets a little louder. Not great if you want to sleep in!The décor in the room was a little dull. Breakfast was a little disappointing as there was no cooked option.
Review 131:This is a strange one to review. It ticks all the boxes re comfort, cleanliness, facilities etc, yet there is something missing and Ican't put my finger on it. Perhaps it was the lack of people thusrobbing it of any atmosphere. I don't know. The hotel is very comfortable and well-appointed. The rooms were rather dull in their furnishings, but everything was of a high quality. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large and spotless. We had a ground floor suite which had a nice terrace in front. There are tea/coffee making facilities. The garden is particularly nice as is the sun deck. We didn't avail of the spa or pool, so can't comment on them. They did look good though. Service was friendly and helpful.
Review 132:Eco friendly but opening the window the only way to reduce the temperature at night.
Review 133:The staff were very helpful and mostly bilingual. Facilities modern and light.
Review 134:A different receptionist to the one who checked us in was very rude to my two sons and husband when they asked to borrow towels for the swimming pool. This poor customer service was a very negative experience for us.
Review 135:The receptionist who checked us in was charming, really helpful and a superb ambassador for the hotel. Excellent customer service. Based on this positive experience we would definitely return.
Review 136:Poor Internet access from room.
Review 137:Very comfortable room and bed. Restaurant breakfast very nice did not try meal in evening. A very comfortable hotel all round.
Review 138:If I have to say one thing we didn't like then it was the pillow. It was too high for us. Anything else was excellent!
Review 139:Kind of everything, one of the best place where I have been! Nicely renovated maison in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood. Modern (and looks new) interior. View to the forest. No passing traffic. Being in the village in 5 minutes using the stairs from the car parking. It's possible to check in after 8pm. Parking is for free. Breakfast costs 12EUR, but absolutely worth it. Employees are very kind. Wellness area (swimming pool, sauna) is open between 8.30 AM and 8.30 PM. Pool is not so big for real swimming, but perfect for leisure. The hotel is perfect for longer stay. I would definitely recommend and would love to go back.
