Reviews for Westend Guesthouse
Review 1:Excellent place to stay. Owners were very friendly and extremely helpful. They were kind enough to provide me with an early breakfast on Sunday morning as I needed an early start for work.
Review 2:Shower/bathroom was really small and the shower was quite weak, a 10 min walk into town
Review 3:Carol and Chris are lovely, great food, lovely room and decor, and a welcoming cup of tea and cake, comfy bed, and pillows, lots of parking,
Review 4:Carol and Chris are both very friendly and helpful, they even told us how to cut a corner on our journey, also where to eat in the evening. Their breakfast was really tastie. Would go back again.
Review 5:Lovely location with ample parking spaces. Chris and Carol were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Very clean facilities and good choice of food at breakfast.
Review 6:Wi-fi and phone coverage a bit in and out.
Review 7:Carol and Chris ever so friendly and helpful, even gave us a lift into town, breakfast lovely and bed nice and comfy
Review 8:Very friendly and accommodating hosts. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of different options available. We went for full English and it was lovely, not greasy at all. They are happy to offer an early breakfast too! Rooms were well equipt and clean. We had everything we needed for a weekend at the Scott trial. We will definitely stay again and recommend!
Review 9:Very clean accommodation, very friendly hosts, excellent breakfast, good location. Hosts were very informative about the surrounding area and nothing was too much to ask.
Review 10:Not the owners fault but we are used to a super kingsize bed and the bed here was much smaller than that. The bed suited the room size and would be great for people used to a normal sized bed. We should have booked a twin room!
Review 11:Lovely house, wonderful welcome with tea and cake. Very good breakfast and very friendly, welcoming hosts.
Review 12:bathroom was quite small but functional, was very adequate for short stays.

Review 15:Carol and Chris were excellent hosts and made us feel at home the breakfast was first class and set us up for the day we will stay again when next in Richmond.
Review 16:Could do with a larger bath towel and breakfast was a bit sparse! Only one very small bacon medallion!
Review 17:very friendly welcome with tea and cake. very clean.
Review 18:Nothing !
Review 19:Hosts were lovely and the welcome tea and cake was much appreciated. The breakfast offered lots of choices and was delicious. Off road parking is an added bonus.
Review 20:We were given a very warm welcome by Carol and Chris who were a mine of information. Excellent location, within easy walking distance to Richmond Town Center which is a gem. Certainly worth a visit.
Review 21:no complaints at all, a great place to staystay highly recommended, Carol and Chris are perfect hosts
Review 22:Lovely hosts, lovely surroundings superb guest house I will definitely return
Review 23:The gentleman was a little too 'attentive', too chatty and kinda wouldn't leave you alone. Fine line between being a 'host' and being intrusive. Give people space to breathe please.
Review 24:Great place to stay. Beautiful house. A home from home.
Review 25:Poor wi fi, but area in general so not hotels fault. Room and shower room a bit small but clean and comfortable
Review 26:Ideal location for exploring, clean, comfortable, nice hosts.
Review 27:No bad experiences here. I only have one small suggestion and that is that some bottled water in the room would be appreciated.
Review 28:The welcome we received at West End Guest House denoted the tenor of our stay. Carol and Chris are the epitome of the best in British hospitality. We were given coffee and home made cake on our arrival and supplied with all the information we needed to make our stay a success. Rooms were lovely and bed so comfortable and cosy. (no lumpy mattresses here.) Both of our hosts go the extra mile to please their guests e.g. a query about the weather or a route produced detailed maps and reports to satisfy even the most curious guest. When we returned from an outing in a huge deluge Carol and Chris rushed out to our car with umbrellas to escort us indoors. I'm still dreaming about the breakfast, one of the best I've had in the UK including 5* hotels. Try the pancakes , a personal favourite and the best coffee ever, freshly made, piping hot no horrid urns of stale liquid in this establishment! If you are staying in Richmond I would have no hesitation in recommending West End. It's about a 10 minute walk from the centre but in my opinion this is a bonus because it's so peaceful especially if you are a light sleeper like me
Review 29:Had some problems with the wifi access but I'm sure these would've been resolved if I'd bothered to ask!
Review 30:Friendly staff who couldn't do too much to help.
Review 31:Warm welcome on arrival, more like staying in a friends house, carol went to a lot of trouble to meet special dietary requirements (Gluten free). Wood go back.
Review 32:wifi coverage is a bit hit and miss in some rooms due to thickness of house walls despite the owners attempts to improve it.
Review 33:very nice accomodating hosts who made us very welcome & our stay a enjoyable weekend. Located in a quiet position but within about 10 mins walk of Richmond town centre. Very nice breakfasts
Review 34:Not a thing
Review 35:The location was excellent, comfortable room and lovely and quiet, very friendly atmosphere and the breakfast had a lot of choice and was very taisty. Tahank you for a wonderful time
Review 36:The wifi didn't seem to work but maybe it was just us
Review 37:Comfortable and clean room. All you could possibly want for very good value. Breakfast outstanding, both the fruit and yogurt (nice touch) and the full cooked.
Review 38:There isn't anything you couldn't like about this guest house. We were greeted by Carol a lovely friendly person who made us a cup of tea with cake and cheese. The room was first class and the breakfast brilliant.
Review 39:Advertised checkout time is alittle early though we were allowed to leave car whilst we explored the town.
Review 40:Room small but adequate. Friendly people. Good breakfast and good location.
Review 41:As I'm a veggie I was offered an omelette as a breakfast alternative which was delicious. The recommendations for dinner options in town were also very welcome and the advice to book in advance was spot on as it was a busy weekend when we stayed.
Review 42:Nothing bad - all excellent!
Review 43:Friendly, comfortable, conveniently placed... A lovely place to stay. Lovely welcome with tea and home made cake. Excellent breakfast. We will come back sometime for longer than one night.
Review 44:We enjoyed everything about our stay. There was a very friendly welcome and we felt at home immediately. The house is beautiful, very clean and comfortable, and we felt we made the right decision to stay there. An excellent breakfast too.
Review 45:A personal thing but duvet very heavy and a bit too hot through the night
Review 46:Carol and Chris very friendly and eager to help with all aspects of our stay including recommendations of where to visit and eat. Made a small room feel larger. Excellent value for money. Great position on the main road so easy to find but laid back so very quiet
Review 47:Nothing to dislike
Review 48:We arrived ahead of schedule and our room wasn't quite ready. We were shown to the dining room and treated to a hot drink, tea for me and hot choc for my daughter, and lovely home made cake, whilst we waited. Carol was extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent and efficient, and Carol makes amazing scrambled eggs!!! Would highly recommend.
Review 49:The atmosphere as soon as we walked through the door was so friendly and homely. Both Carol + Chris were extremely attentive to our needs without being over the top - totally genuine. The whole of our stay was excellent and we WILL be going back! The location of the B + B is only a 15/20 minute walk into Richmond - so we hardly had to use the car. The facilities are excellent and the breakfast is to die for! Would totally recommend it! :)
Review 50:The only negative would be that the bedroom was quite small but other than that everything was fine.
Review 51:Ian & Helen were perfect hosts. They were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasurable as possible. The bedroom was very comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were superb - plenty of choice, used many locally sourced products and was cooked perfectly ! Thank you !!
Review 52:Hard to fault really. Maybe the shower could have been a bit more powerful, and sometimes we had to go to the (very lovely) communal room to pick up WiFi. But that's just being picky!
Review 53:Excellent, quiet but convenient location. Couldn't have been more welcoming. Lovely breakfasts & packed lunches. Secure parking, great for bicycles too. House full of character, well looked after. Such friendly, personal attention. We were there for the Tour of France Grand Depart, and Ian and Helen provided scrumptious packed lunches and insisted on not charging us, as it was a "special weekend" - what a lovely touch!
Review 54:There was nothing we did not like.
Review 55:Lovely B&B. TLC'd throughout. Helen and Ian were incredibly accommodating, friendly and helpful. When we checked in Helen asked us what our plans were to see the area. When we came back downstairs after settling in, she had directions printed out for 3 different options of possible itineraries and things to see. She and Ian are enthusiastic about the area, and they very much want their guests to enjoy their time there. The room was lovely, with all the amenities you could need. The breakfast was amazing, including vegetarian sausage for my husband, who is vegetarian. A great value for the money! We highly recommend staying here.
Review 56:wi-fi a bit hit and miss...not an issue for us really..maybe just a minor irritant but no more than that..you could get reception in the front room anyway which is stated on arrival...Ian is trying to address this best he can...but it isnt a hotel...wifi is hit and miss..but so what? you can get it at any cafe/pub these days...sit back and enjoy the silence!
Review 57:Ian and Helen were so welcoming and friendly, we've rarely had a better reception on arrival...tea was offered and little chocolate biscuits on the hospitality tray made for a welcome treat. Breakfast was FAB! all tastes catered for. Helen also was very knowledgeable about the area and happy to print off walking maps for us.A very relaxing stay...thank you both..wishing you lovely folks all the best..
