Reviews for Lamb & Flag Inn
Review 1:No problems
Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff the room was ideal for our one night stay and had all the facilities we needed. It was easy to find and had ample car parking. With it being the run up to Christmas the bar and restaurant was very busy but the staff where very accommodating and soon sorted us out with a table. We wondered what it must be like to stay in the summer with its gardens and views. Recommend!
Review 3:As you come out the upstairs door their is a very small step before two larger ones, had to keep reminding my partner as he may miss his footing.
Review 4:Very clean and tidy
Review 5:They are no real gripes or niggles to report.Food is excellent Some drinks ( beer ) is my personal favourite; so no complaints.
Review 6:The friendliness of staff combined with the central location of hotel mean we have had many repeat visits. They have had many minor upgrades and up dates of facilities keeping up with the quality of other places. It remains our first choice now and for future visits to South Wales.
Review 7:Disappointed in the room. Urgently required redecorating and new carpet to give it a cleaner look. Shower room also appeared in need of cleaning up-stains on ceiling and cracked tiles.Window also needed renewing. Stairs and landing also need urgent attention re- decor and carpet-quite off putting approach to room.
Review 8:Friendly staff. Good food. Good location.
Review 9:We stayed in room 3 the bathroom was very tiny if u were a large person u would b able to turn around
Review 10:Staff were friendly & helpful the pub was clean & tidy food was excellent
Review 11:Rooms are tired showers where in need of a good scrub the beds need replacing .
Review 12:The breakfast was excellent the hotel was in a good location but you do need a car . The rooms are tired but we where told by the management the property is up for refurbishment in the next month. The food in the restaurant was very good .
Review 13:Noise from aircon/heating outside room
Review 14:Good value and nicely presented food. Good beer. Handy location for visiting Brecon Beacons and 1 hour from Millennium Stadium.
Review 15:The only downfall was that breakfast is served from 8 am, as an on site Engineer I prefer an early breakfast so that I can arrive on site early.
Review 16:I was working at a local hospital and this hotel/inn was a 60 second drive away. The food was good and reasonably priced, brekky was great, even had Kippers.
Review 17:The beds are a bit on the old side and 1 of the 3 rooms we occupied was not very clean.(cob-and dust-webs in corners).
Review 18:Excellent location, friendly staff, good kitchen
Review 19:Shower had patches of black mould and gunk in the plughole. Could have done with a thicker duvet.
Review 20:Lovely hostess and very friendly staff. Tea and coffee in the room, and hairdryer and fan. Beautiful flowers all round the garden and nice seating outside. Good food too.
Review 21:We stayed here last year, and returned this year because of the quality of the pub food. However, the food in the pub during this trip was pretty bad. The sticky toffee pudding was a gooey block of dates. My salmon was overcooked, and really should have been sent back.
Review 22:We loved the country setting, as this inn is located outside of Abergavenney. This in not the place for anyone who wants to be in town.
Review 23:Convenient location for our needs, a very good menu and always given a table at the required time. The friendly staff tried to accommodate all our needs even though they were a bit extreme due to taking part in a cycling tour!
Review 24:Nowhere to hang wet towels after a shower. Noise of traffic from road could be reduced by double glazing to the bedroom.
Review 25:Good sized bedroom, good choice of meals and staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 26:A bit noisy with it being close to a main road Room was very hot and I needed two fans Wifi was useless
Review 27:Very helpful staff and the room was pleasant. Plenty of seating outside to eat or have a drink on a sunny day. Good menu and real ale choice Plenty of car parking spaces 15 min walk into town.
Review 28:The way we were treated on check in the photo of the rooms don't represent the actual rooms, mold in the bath the bedthrows were threadbare I added in on the form that I have two kids but they informed me they don't really cater for kids and I got a room with two single beds although on the website there was a room with a double and single bed the food is nice but the reception was frosty I will never stay there again and will talk to my friends about the place very disappointed my kids were looking forward to the stay but we're shocked at the whole thing
Review 29:Included a question in our booking which was acknowledged by Booking.com but never answered by the Lamb & Flag. Rooms could do with a freshen up.
Review 30:Outdoor eating/drinking area. Staff helpful.
Review 31:Disappointed they had ran out of breakfast items when they only have 5 accommodation rooms
Review 32:Great views, lovely evening meals and drinks, great outdoor beer garden area, clean and spacious, helpful staff, good value for money
Review 33:Two of my group commented about a noisy fan that kept them awake. The beds were a bit hard as well.
Review 34:Friendly staff, good beer, good food. particularly the breakfasts.
Review 35:Our bathroom was missing a towel rail, it had fallen off and not yet replaced.
Review 36:The breakfasts and dinner were delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. The views were beautiful.
Review 37:The service in the evening was very slow until the waitress realised we were overnight guests. This gave us priority over other diners and the food arrived shortly after the order was taken.
Review 38:The location for our travelling needs. The menu choice was very good. The room was spotlessly clean.
Review 39:The comfort of the bed was very low in our estimation. It felt as if there was a hump in the middle and you rolled down to either side.
Review 40:The facilities and food, excellent. Staff very welcoming and friendly.
Review 41:Check in at bar, so have to wait for drinks orders to be served which was a pain after a long journey.
Review 42:Good size room, comfy & quiet. Very nice breakfast. Walk across field at back of hotel to local vineyard for tastings - recommend!
Review 43:If I must 'nitpick' , shower gel' was empty and would have liked more than one tea bag each. Perhaps I should have asked!
Review 44:The bar with a wide range of liquid refreshment. The large seating area's inside and out.
Review 45:spidernet under curtain mold in shower & smell from kitchen below room very small
Review 46:breakfast awsome (english+cereal+toast..) good location if you go hiking the brecon beacons
Review 47:The staff were very friendly and always willing to help with any enquiry. The room was clean and comfortable and we enjoyed an evening meal in the pub every night.
Review 48:Bed was not comfortable. Asked for non-feather pillows which were supplied but they were old and firm. Room was small and badly laid out.
Review 49:Good parking in front of hotel
Review 50:The bed and the pillows were not very comfortable. The en-suite needs to be refurbished. The sink was cracked and the tiles were mouldy in places in the shower cubicle.
Review 51:The location was very good and food in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were extremely helpful. We arrived on a very busy Mother's day afternoon but we had special attention when we checked in.The lady asked if we were planning to eat in and booked a table since they were busy in the evening. Staff were always available, polite and friendly.
Review 52:Would have to be picky to try to itemise topics that are disagreeable or unacceptable.
Review 53:Staff are friendly; food is hot and served promptly. Beers and ales are favourites, Location is handy for Abergavenny and other main routes.
Review 54:We were arriving late, and they had sandwiches ready for us. Spacious clean room, good bathroom, friendly helpful staff, easy to find, quiet, lots of parking room, excellent breakfast.
Review 55:Vegetarian paella was little more than a packet mix of rice and tomato, with a pepper - too hungry to complain, but am sure they could do better.
Review 56:Location good, not too near road. Shower excellent, bed very comfortable, great breakfast - free!
Review 57:Room quite cold, poorly insulated. No heating. Shower head flex broken and sink cracked, soap dispenser on wall also loose.

Review 59:A bit tired and could do with a bit of TLC.
Review 60:Just outside Abergavenny but right on the edge of the National park and perfect for touring the area. Great family hotel with good faculties for children. Really lovely staff.
Review 61:I have yet to find anything despite being a regular customer.
Review 62:mine host and staff are excellent always available to help.very polite, food is excellent served piping hot and quickly served from ordering to arriving at table.Rooms are comfortable ,clean and have all facilities expected in a 4 star hotel.I repeatedly stay at the Lamb & Flag as it is friendly and far superior to other Inns or Hotels in the area.
Review 63:The Inn is located just outside Abergavenny and is surrounded by meadows and commons, making the place quiet and beautiful and ideal for a dinner or a beer under the porch. Rooms are clean and nice, nothing spectacular but for this price you really can't ask for more. Staff was helpful and nice, and the food was also very good in quantity and quality. We had BBQ ribs: they were delicious and *huge*!
Review 64:The bed linen was frayed. The room was in desperate need of a tidy up. Shower drain keep washing back up. The room was so small no room for bags. The food was tasteless and poorly presented. Our cup of tea at breakfast was cold and when we mentioned we got another cold pot.
Review 65:one small problem the wash hand basin tap in bedroom seem to be in way when washing face , but then most probably it was my fault being clumsy

Review 69:only criticism was having booked on line, I thought that I had paid as I had to give my card details, and on arrival was asked to pay as I hadn't actually paid on line. Was a bit confusing but wouldn't put me of booking again.
