Reviews for La Ferme Saint Simeon Spa - Relais & Chateaux

Review 1:Arrogant staff, especially one lady at the reception. We booked a standard room for 3 nights on booking.com. They confirmed in seperate mail that we would get "one double bedded standard room under te roof eaves with a mezzazine, located at the 3rd floor without lift". Once we got there, they gave us a room on the groundfloor (handicapted room). All the other rooms were occupied....but after speaking to another lady at the reception, we could get a room under the roof on the third floor. There was no mezzazine, but ok. But please don't tell us that we got a superior room if you confirm yourself that we normally had this room. Why do they always want to try to give booking.com-users other rooms?

Review 2:Beautiful hotel Good location: only 800m from the city center of Honfleur Restful Nice pool & spa

Review 3:Restaurant lacked atmosphere, the food was OK but not exceptional and the wine list lacked a balanced price list

Review 4:Hotel is lovely and is a great location to walk into the town

Review 5:Breakfast was in the beautiful gardens but very, very expensive

Review 6:Most beautiful Hotel, rooms, grounds, view and setting. Loved the location as it is just a short stroll to wonderful Honfleur.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The location, the close vicinity to Honfleur centre, the garden, the view of the Seine. The friendly staff, the delicious food, the spa, the comfortable bed. Everything was perfect!

Review 9:1. I am unable to walk up stairs due to foot surgery. Hotel is beautiful 17 century bldg and my room was up a winding stairway at the end of a hallway and the only room that had 2 stairs to get in. They would not change my room. I changed hotels2. A slice of cake. A SLICE of cake $24 euros! Exchange rate made it $36 U.S. a slice. Too expensive for the fanciest place anywhere. 3. A roach was on the floor I killed it RIP 4. No ac so windows open, no screens and pouring rain. At 1 am guest returns honking horn for Umbrella

Review 10:Hotel is beautiful

Review 11:I think sometimes they appeared to be short-staffed as service could be a little slow, particularly outside.

Review 12:The hotel was beautiful and the gardens really lovely. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was really exceptional. Staff were all friendly and very helpful, especially Xavier.

Review 13:Spa is a bit tired looking (ceiling leaks in many places) and it didn't open early enough for the gym facilities (8.30am) but that is because we are early risers. Unfortunately we were dressed and ready to use the gym at 8.30am but were asked to come back at 9.30am on the first morning as the keys were locked away. As we had plans for the day this wasn't an option so we just ran outside which was a good way of seeing the town, although running in the rain wasn't ideal!

Review 14:Great location in Honfleur with parking. Attentive staff and fabulous building, amazing views. Only a short walk, 5 mins into town where there are so many places to shop and eat.

Review 15:The a la carte menu was too expensive and to have to pay over €40 for soup was excessive. It should be possible to have a simple meal of two courses for less than €120 with a glass of wine.

Review 16:An excellent staff who were always helpful and efficient. A splendid swimming pool and spa. A beautifully kept garden.

Review 17:We were looking for a light supper and that was not available other than through room service. Breakfast buffet was disappointing.

Review 18:Excellent service: when I inquired about an item left behind, it was mailed back to the US for me. Room service breakfast was very good and again the service was excellent. Wonderful dinner in restaurant.

Review 19:The restaurant staff weren't particularly friendly or attentive! Attention to detail!

Review 20:The interior & exterior of the Hotel, the facilities. Beautiful position, walking distance of Honfleur.

Review 21:Whopping extra charge for breakfast.

Review 22:Staff were excellent, hotel furnishings were beautiful and food presentation was amazing. Loved the welcome drink and pastry - an excellent touch.

Review 23:Sorry I did it wrong way The history n hotel setting is good.

Review 24:I think for a five star hotel, the management needs to try harder. I did not notice no aircon in the hotel n we stay two days which r hot. They gave us duvet that was think n with shutters closed in my children's room due to security n too bright w street lights, there was no air . Must inform clients at check in. Also only day one water is complimentary. Even bnb gives free water

Review 25:View of trailer park and industrial side of Le Havre which of course unavoidable.

Review 26:Spectacular property, beautifully manicured, wonderful history of the property, staff were outstanding. Walking distance to town. Great facilities.

Review 27:I would have thought the room would have air conditioning. The shower in the bathroom was too small

Review 28:The location of the property was lovely. The grounds were very pretty.

Review 29:That we could not stay longer

Review 30:Staff were very helpful and the food excellent

Review 31:There is so many chemical products in the jacuzzi of the spa that my husband had problems in her hair

Review 32:We changed the first room and then it was wonderful

Review 33:No aircondition

Review 34:Absence of window screens allows flies in room.

Review 35:Magnificent property with excellent service and perfect location.

Review 36:spa and food

Review 37:It was a wonderful building and location on the edge of the town of Honfleur. The gardens were beautifully kept, and inviting.

Review 38:Quality of food not quite up to price promise.

Review 39:Room ,view, atmophere

Review 40:Bedroom and bathroom fittings betray the problems of modernising old accommodation

Review 41:Well preserved old building with an obvious impressive past

Review 42:Comfort & service

Review 43:The quality of the room was poor when compared to the price.

Review 44:The bed and shower were good.

Review 45:Location, scenery

Review 46:Stunning building, courteous discreet staff, wonderful food.

Review 47:The paintings in the diningroom are unpleasantly kitsch.

Review 48:Location and rooms are superb.

Review 49:All was Super

Review 50:Accommodating & wonderfully helpful in all regards.

Review 51:Everything.... What a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. Attentive staff, fabulous room and excellent food. Can't wait to return.

Review 52:That guests could take dogs (even very large dogs)into the restauarant for dinner and breakfast, being allergic to docs made it very uncomfortable

Review 53:The staff were excellent and so was the cleaniness of the rooms

Review 54:Room was far too basic for a 5 star and many basics were missing, namely no tissues in the room and not even complimentary water - these are standard in even 3 star hotels! Replacement toiletries were skimped on the day before check-out resulting in us having to request same. Command of English was poor which is strange for a top tourist destination. Overpriced.

Review 55:The main hotel building, notably the restaurant and bar/lounge areas were beautiful and the location and views are great.

Review 56:An oasis just far enough outside Honfleur but less than 10 minutes walk. An unusual beautifully kept hotel that was very relaxing with attentive pleasant helpful staff.

Review 57:Drain smell in the bathroom of room 38, reported but did not go away. Bidet would not empty due to faulty pop up waste-reported but not fixed. Poor lighting in the room with extra light provided. Room 37 all OK.

Review 58:The interior of the public area rooms, the spa/swimming pool etc. First class friendly service.

Review 59:Although the winter mid week room rate was reasonable the price of meals and particularly breakfast was very high. Fortunately Honfleur has over 100 restaurants. We were also disappointed that the gym was shut until April 2014.

Review 60:This hotel is made up of beautiful, very comfortably furnished buildings. The pool is lovely and of a good size with 2 separate whirlpools.

Review 61:We thought the restaurant was VERY overpriced- a good standard but limited in choice. We ate in the restaurant for the first 2 evenings as the weather was poor and we did not want to undertake the 10 minute walk in town. The menu was exactly the same on both occasions. We checked again on the third night and yes, it was exactly as before so we decided to walk into town and found an equally good restaurant for half the price! Overall we felt the hotel was definitely overpriced and we would not choose to stay there again despite all the points in its favour.

Review 62:The location is stunning and benefits from the artistic connections which are seen all through Honfleur.(Monet reputedly painted here). Old world charm meets modern comfort! However our room was fairly compact and not as luxurious we were expecting. The spa and pool were good and staff there very helpful. There were some nice touches- a welcome cider brought by a waiter to your room on arrival, a turn down service and frequent linen changes and very efficient housekeeping.

Review 63:Bedroom was a bit disappointing - no air conditioning, so had to have windows open and there was some road noise. Wifi didn't work in the room.

Review 64:Dinner was excellent and the tasting menu good value (if expensive). A la carte was very expensive. The swimming pool was also good.

Review 65:The staff was inflexible and horrible to deal with it. Save your money this is not the place to stay

Review 66:I hated the experience at this hotel and would never recommend it.

Review 67:The wifi was awful and dropped you every few minutes, requiring you tosign in again endlessly. The service in the restaurant was very good butthe actual food was disappointing, especially at the prices charged. Youshouldn't have non-ripe camembert(dry inside) as part of yourspecial menu. Plus if the meat is served with a sauce then serve morethan a teaspoon of sauce. The rest of the meal was quite simple, a plainpiece of fish and tomatoes. This restaurant was not much cheaper than elcellar de can Roca but there was no where near the effort or techniques, hence our disappointment

Review 68:Very pretty with nice gardens and view. The staff were very helpfulwith good English. There was even a dog bed, bowl and chew for the dogin the room.

Review 69:Restaurant staff very arrogant and slow. At breakfast it was so appalling we only took it on one day. I had to ask for hot milk 3 times, not what you expect when paying 28 Euros each. At dinner we booked for 8.30 and sat down at 10 to 10. The Spa staff were hopeless, never even making eye contact let alone voice contact. The shower in room 24 looked good but was hopelessly clogged up and just did not operate properly.

Review 70:Reception staff excellent, particularly Jonathan when we first arrived. Good Spa facility. Good food. Dog friendly.

Review 71:The service. This is not a 5* hotel. First breakfast: empty fruit-juicejugs, 3 empty bread baskets, no bowls for meusli. Three separaterequests. No apology.Third breakfast: no table laid up. Generally:vacated tables weren't cleared or re-laid. Cold coffee even whenordered in the lounge during the day. Swimming pool opens 8.30am - latefor pre-breakfast swimmers. Except it doesn'T. I had to walk back toReception across the garden one morning to get someone to open up. Wewere then locked in and got out through the fire escape. The othermorning it opened late. First afternoon no towels available and unmanned- we found the cupboard. We used recliners in the garden one day.Interested to see that it took two days for them to be put back intoposition. Basically the hotel is lovely and we had a great time. Thestaff are polite though distant but this really was not a 5* service, which is supposed to be reserved for something absolutely excellent.

Review 72:The location and the room was delightful. The indoor swimming pool wasvery attractive.

Review 81:Very nice, clear and chic
