Reviews for Madame Vacances Residence Les Consuls de la Mer
Review 1:When i arrived, my room (which was a good renewed room at the first floor) was used and not clean. The staff offered me another room for people with limited locomotion in the fifth floor. The room was old and clearly not of the same category (at least in terms of comfort) as the first room. It wasn't ready for lodging someone because it didn't have the towels, too. The staff offered me another room in the first floor. It was a much better room, as good as the first one, and bigger. Nevertheless, all this procedure took more than half an hour and even though they staff seemed to be looking for possible rooms to host me, it is hard to understand why they offered me the second room first when they had the third room (much similar in the category to the one that I have booked) available. At least, if all of them belong to the same category, this hotel has a huge variability in the quality of their rooms. In any case, the 'newer rooms' (because none of them are really new) is a good option for the price you pay. The breakfast was also good.
Review 2:Fair on average for the money payed. I didn't like anything in special.
Review 3:Finding the basement car park is very difficult due to the tram lines. Being the weekend we heard lots of noisy people on the street during the night. The staff did not assemble the baby bed for us...
Review 4:We liked the fact that is was close to the center ville and the bed was comfortable.
Review 5:It was an apartment with kitchen, but there was no tea towel, dishwashing liquid or sponge. We had to buy those things. The shower leaked badly putting water on the floor of the bathroom and under the door to the bedroom.
Review 6:Clean and suited our purposes for a 2 night stay.
Review 7:Pool is tiny and always had people playing stereos REALLY LOUDLY beside the pool. So not very peaceful which was a shame.
Review 8:Fantastic location, great to have kitchen facilities and lots of shops nearby. Accommodation basic but had everything we needed.
Review 9:Facilities a bit variable; Shower tap worked backwards so hot was cold and vice versa - easy to burn yourself; No knives (except large bread/carving knives) amongst cutlery; bedroom cramped; Sprinkler on plants at pool came on suddenly and it leaked and gave us an unexpected cold shower ! All minor things though
Review 10:Breakfast was great; freshly baked bread and croissant, fruit salad; all excellent. Location right next to tram very useful; Bed comfortable; pool was nice
Review 11:This was the worst apartment I have ever stayed in. No paper towels, tissues. Dingy, terrible layout with toilet in one room with no sink then rest of bathroom literally across the apartment in the bedroom. Fridge was leaky. Was overall terrible and I would NEVER recommend it.
Review 12:Location was good with tram to centre right out front.
Review 13:The décor is a little dated and could do with a revamp. The elevators sometimes did not work! So long as this issue is addressed I would have no problem using this hotel again.
Review 14:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was ideal for 3 of the 4 tram lines so getting from A to B was easy. The roof top pool is not overlooked and although small, is ideal for a cool dip.
Review 15:A bit tired. Needs some refurbishment of rooms and rooftop pool needs better equipment. With a bit of investment the hotel could be excellent.
Review 16:Great location. Very helpful staff
Review 17:We arrived at 22.00 in the evening to be told that there was only one room available and the second room was still being cleaned. We went to the room to find it had been slept in and dirty.it took another 30 mins for them to find us two clean rooms. Also tried charging me more than booking.com stated. Also no car parking on site. Terrible experience.
Review 18:Not a lot.
Review 19:It was hot and one of the AC didn't in one of our two rooms. Car park was very small and tight to get around and the elevators I thought were going to break down everytime we got in
Review 20:The staff were very helpful and friendly they are credit to this hoteland the breakfast was good. I also liked they had a drying rack for clothes an the very close location to a TAM station.
Review 21:The room was very small and looked nothing like the photos in the ad. The pool was postage size instead of a normal sized pool The room was ugly and depressing. There were no English language programs on the TV. The kitchenette was very small and inconvenient. The window was small. It was like being in a prison cell, that room. Very small, claustrophobic, and ugly. The hotel is over priced.
Review 22:It was mostly quiet. The shower was hot with good water pressure. Most of the time the AC worked well. The location was okay. The wifi worked well.
Review 23:You'll probably need to take the tram to get into the old town.
Review 24:It's located around the corner from a tram stop and on the banks of the River Lez. The room comes with a small kitchen which was convenient.
Review 25:First we were not informed that an extreme sports festival was taking place outside the hotel. This went on till 4.00am with hundreds of drunken youths roaming the streets. The hotel had zero parking and had to park at considerable cost over a mile away. On departure we were told the room had to be inspected to see if we had left it clean and could not leave until. All in all the worst hotel experience yet. should of been informed about the festival going on and the parking and cleaning policy. We would like a refund.
Review 26:absolutely nothing
Review 27:the pool was not open as promised; there was no air conditioning in the entire hotel in spite of many many complaints. I kept getting excuses from Andy Paulin, the "directeur" of the hotel. Unacceptable in May in the south of France.
Review 28:They didn't have a maid service and instructed us to take our trash to the basement before we checked out. There is a courtyard Marriott right across the street, you should just go there.
Review 29:nothing
Review 30:It is ridiculous for the guest having to throw rubbish out when getting ready to leave. The room is supposed to be cleaned after I leave anyway. The only pot and pan was very old and dirty!
Review 31:Old furniture. Poor wifi signal. Car garage is too narrow (only compact/small cars are possible to park)
Review 32:Excellent, cooperative staff. Tram stop located in front of main entrance. 20min walk to city center. Carrefour/Grocery is nearby. Nice kitchen utensils.
Review 33:I couldn't tell when the last time the room was properly cleaned. The linens for the hide a bed couch were ripped and stained. The pillows looked (and felt) like they'd been in use since 1975. The dishes were not clean, towels were threadbare and there weren't enough for all of us. Level of cleanliness and condition of linens were severely sub standard and more than a little disgusting.
Review 34:Staff and location were excellent. Breakfast was very good. View from our balcony was nice. Staff were very helpful.
Review 35:First room small & stunk of smoke, a bad sign for a non smoking establishment. The address is incorrectly listed and after 45 minutes and 2 calls via Australia (A$ 30) they had to come and get us, fabulous local staff.
Review 36:When we got the room we finally booked it turned out ok, great manager and should be promoted.
Review 37:Parking was tricky. Website told us we needed to pay extra for sheets and towels, and that Reception would close at 9pm. Thankfully neither were correct.
Review 38:Comfortable, staff very helpful, location good with some great restaurants nearby. Enjoyed the rooftop pool.
Review 39:The guy working in the breakfast room was unfriendly and the location of the hotel isn't particularly close to the city centre.
Review 40:The apartment was spacious, there was an enormous balcony and the kitchen was very well equipped, including a dishwasher. The reception staff was friendly and it was nice to have the option of using the pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. It was amazing how much we could get for our money at this hotel. The breakfast was excellent too. There is a great tram service between the train station and the hotel.
Review 41:Cleanliness is poor. Old furniture. Parkingspots are too tight, don't try to reach - 2 with a car bigger than a VW Polo. The pool isn't an added value.
Review 42:Locaties is great. Value for money. Helpfull staff, good English.
Review 43:The building was a little run down, especially on the stairs up to the pool, and the breakfast was less varied than some, though good.
Review 44:The swimming pool was very pleasant, the location was pretty good and near a frequent tram, the room was a decent size and reasonably quiet despite overlooking the tram stop.
Review 45:Hard to park bigger vehicles in the underground parking.
Review 46:The staff was super friendly and ultra helpful!! It was clean and spacious. Cute pool. Right outside a tram station so it was easy to get around.
Review 47:The hotel is very old and dated and didn't match the photos on the website. They need updating! The pool was closed, the lifts were broken, the room smelled of damp, the car park was horrendous (very dark, tiny and dangerous to get out of). I would NEVER stay here again.
Review 48:A great location - the tram stopped right outside it was 5 minutes to get into the centre.
Review 49:No cleaning service
Review 50:Location
Review 51:20m from tram stop Reasonable cooking facilities, fridge etc OK WiFi
Review 52:2 days Wi-Fi didn't work
Review 53:Good transport links

Review 55:parking atrocious staff rude dinner like what you'd give a dog
Review 56:Slow reception unhelpful

Review 58:Parking was a shocker...steep and very narrow inclines.
Review 59:difficult to find with Sat Nav in car

Review 71:Staff,Cleanlinnes,Inventar,Breakfast
Review 72:Fantastic rooms, very good continental breakfast, staff are helpful and friendly. Cleanliness is outstanding and definately returning.
Review 73:Nice terrace with pool, tram stop right outside, doesn't take long to get to the beach or the town centre also. Staff extremely helpful
Review 74:Difficult to find. No parking. Elevator slow. Tv didnt work. Renovation needed
Review 75:1room for 4 persons
Review 76:You must give a caution of 200 euros whatever the night number that you stay!
Review 77:No charm..
Review 78:I didn't like the bed size, it is small for couples. The elevator always busy. If you want to use the stairs, it is behind the rooms.
Review 79:They have parking for cars even if it is payable €6 per 12 hours. It is clean.
Review 80:Nothing, good value for money.
Review 81:I needed to be in this area of Montpellier so it was perfect for me and the tram is exactly in front of the hotel so it is very easy to rich the center of Montpellier (10mn tram). I asked when I book for a quiet and clean room and thats what I got. My room was nice, the bed comfortable. The overall of the hotel is old but thats ok, the bathroom was renewed. The breakfast is 9€ extra and it is good. Be aware you need to give all your credit card number and a deposit (260€) and when you check out they give you back the piece of paper with your credit card numbers.
Review 82:Can't check in til 1700 but have to vacate by 1000. No maid service and you have to empty your own bins via a subterranean car park. Overpriced for no service.
Review 83:Smart decent sized studio room.
Review 84:Would have preferred a non smoking room. No kettle in room and lounge quite tight for space.
Review 85:Handy location close to tram stop into city centre. Rooftop swimming pool was a bonus.
Review 86:could have done with replacement towels when staying for 4 nights
Review 87:Good location, tram stop right outside and easy to get to city centre and to the beaches. Nice apartment and swimming pool
Review 88:Late check in - 5:00 pm and then check out at 10:00 am next day
Review 89:Hotel was right on the tram so easy ride to city center but construction made it hard tp find
Review 90:The room/aprtment is complete but tired and only partially renovated. There is a complete set if utensils, abd a dushwasher, crazily without any soap... And refusal to supply... Agh!
Review 91:Thos is a fabulous location, sitting on tge major team lines, and on the river... Close to shopping, and the city. Checkin was smooth and enjoyable
Review 92:Very difficult to find. We rang the hotel for directions as our gps didnot have the address on the booking form. Of no help at all. Asked forany nearby landmark. No joy. When we finally arrived, we discovered itwas beside a tram stop and directly opposite the Marriot Hotel! Therewas no parking available when we arrived and we were left up to our owndevices to find some. After checking in, we got into the lift, whichstarted promisingly but then stopped. We were stuck in the lift for atleast 5 minutes. It was not pleasant. The main concern of the staffmembers we spoke to was not our welfare. Rather, we were told that fourwas the maximum number allowed in the lift. However, the sign that I waslooking at as we sweated while we waited to be released stated'Maximum occupancy 5 'personnes'. On reaching our room, myfriend and I discovered it contained just one bed. We returned toReception and requested a second bed. After much discussion, we wereinformed that would be a further €12 per night, even though there werestill only 2 occupants. As we left the hotel that night to have a meal,I reminded the Front Desk Staff of our request for an extra bed.Returning later, we discovered that there was still just one bed. Thefollowing morning, after further protracted discussions, we got ourmoney back, deeming it unlikely that we would get a second bed on thatnight either.
Review 93:Location was excellent. Beside a tram stop
Review 94:Not enough information was given about how to reach the hotel. A deposit of 260 Euros was said to be required for damages. In fact the hotel took a credit card number in lieu but it would seem odd to require any such deposit at all. We were told it was "normal" but I have never known it. In the room the kitchenette light with and the toilet seat had been broken. Obviously this had not been checked before our arrival. "Nul points" there then. I wonder what sort of people they are used to having stay. Not the hotel's fault, but the noise from the trams and street cleaning at night was very disturbing.
Review 95:Convenient for tram stops. For the most part, the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. For negative comments beow, blame the management!
Review 96:Our room was very smelly with a hole in the wall where the bedroom door opened and the net curtains, which we are assuming should be white, were brown and smelly.
Review 97:The location was great within easy reach of the tram for travelling onto town and down to the coast
Review 98:Good location and small pool on the roof. nice veiw over river from balcony, we only stopped here for one night as traverling. could had done a couple of days here to explore. Tram station at front of hotel.
Review 99:The staff were very friendly and helpful spoke good English , the hotelis very central with trams running everywhere ,there is local resturantsand bars within walking distance ,we only stayed one night but happilygo back and stay there for a week .
Review 100:The hotel located in the middle of Montpellier in front of the river,However the stuff is very unfriendly and the room cleaning is literallyabsent, for example the towels they never change it they say that for atowel kit you should pay 6 euros!! They only offer 2 towels (not reallyclean) upon arrival, the room they don't clean even the bed they didn'ttry to come to change the blankets!! Breakfast is nice but overall thehotel stuff is very bad and not helpful.
Review 101:First impression at reception area not so good. Room was a bit run down.
Review 102:Location and proximity to public transport. Good breakfast.

Review 108:Balcony not clean when we arrived.pool closed.
Review 109:Very close to the centre of town.tram outside the door
Review 110:pretty much everything.
Review 111:Good location, easy to get to with the tram system and the service was good.
