Reviews for Crosskeys Bedford

Review 1:Not an ideal place if you are working away like I was, there was karaoke on that evening and you could hear everything that was going on downstairs. It was single glazed sos you could hear the passing traffic too! Probably a great stay for someone who intended to have a sherbet or two and a sing along!

Review 2:The hotel tends to be noisy as there's a pub downstairs. To access your room you need to pass the pub and possibly its guests, too. Some of them are a bit intoxicated and it's really unpleasant experience. The hotel upstairs is quite nice,at least for that price, even though there's a shared bathroom for all the rooms. All in all I didn't felt comfortable at the hotel, I would definitely avoid it during the weekends or if I travelled with a kid.

Review 3:Qute convenient location to access public transport. Nice staff in the morning

Review 4:The noise levels were horrendous from other guests and from street noise. Obviously we stayed on Halloween so this would of made an impact but due to lack of sleep we left well before breakfast was served

Review 5:Craig was a fantastic friendly welcoming member of staff

Review 6:The shower was blocked, the food was wrong, the steps were very steep and the secure parking was nowhere near the hotel. It was also very noisy. We will be requesting a refund.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The building was too old and did not suit as a hotel.. I injured my leg climbing up to the second floor on some very steep stairs.

Review 9:Very friendly staff - good location - good breakfast (but a little more healthy choices won't harm)

Review 10:The pub downstairs is VERY noisy. Parking very awkward. Need to go to pub first (there’s a loading-only bay outside nearby Tesco) to pick up car park gate key, drive to a block of flats (Merchants Court) over the river, and find where you’re supposed to park. Reverse procedure on check-out, but this time you have to negotiate the one-way system.

Review 11:Poor Windows that let lots of noise in. Thumping of music until very late. Shared facilities shuch as toilet and shower potentially for lots of people

Review 12:Very helpful staff

Review 13:Cleanliness - people at Crosskeys don't know the meaning of it. On the way to room, there were so many cigarette butts on the floor and it was stinking. The room had patches of damp on the wall. Bathroom was not clean at all. Floor was wet and someone's stuff was scattered on the corner. I can not understand how Bedford council gave permission to such facilities. It was my last booking with booking.Com

Review 14:The location of the property is in the Town Centre, which I liked.

Review 15:The free car parking is a council run one that is only free from 6pm saturday and is not too near. Only 1 bathroom, it says bathrooms in the advert. The most horrendous part was the noise from downstairs, it should state that it is no good for people who need somewhere to sleep. Generally i feel that the truth is not stated so that it is too late to do anything about it because your'e all unpacked allready. If i hadn't of had a drink i would have left there about 10pm and gone back home.

Review 16:breakfast was good

Review 17:Wifi doesn't reach upstairs floor so no free wifi. Also no free private parking as said, had to pay for street parking

Review 18:Good room, great breakfast, only paid £55

Review 19:I had not realised that the room did not come with its own en suite and would be over such a busy (and a bit sleazy) bar - not enough research or reading on my part! I live in the country, so found the traffic and various alarms impossible to sleep through.

Review 20:The staff were lovely - very friendly and a good breakfast

Review 21:The 'secure' car parking was about half a mile from the accommodation. We were there on a Thursday and the music (which vibrated the room) went in until midnight. If you into it fine - if not this isn't the place for you.

Review 22:Great location right in the middle of town.

Review 23:Loud noise outside the room on the street until the early hours of the morning when the nose of the streets and pavements being cleaned took over.

Review 24:Breakfast, note continental option not available

Review 25:Music extremely loud until early hours of the morning. Room vibrated as it was so loud. Myself and my daughter went to bed at 10am as we had an early start however was kept awake until after 2am.

Review 26:Bed comfortable, staff friendly, breakfast good.

Review 27:No bad experiences, it's above a pub/bar so is very noisy on a night over the weekend. BUT you get what you pay for, a minor inconvenience for us considering all the positives.

Review 28:Good location right in the middle of town, friendly and fun staff, cheap as chips and the breakfast is spot on! Thanks for the great stay guys!

Review 29:Everything about the hotel was terrible. No private showers for your own use in the rooms. The shower facilities which they had was disgusting. According to another guest staying there, there is only one shower to use which is used by all guests.

Review 30:I needed a hotel with its own parking lot. I had a great deal of computer and camera equipment and I didn't fancy lugging this from a lot over half a mile away and across the river from the hotel.

Review 31:got given directions to the car park (the owners parking space at his flat) from a drunken local who became wound up when I didn't understand where he was saying! didn't like either how you had to check in at a noisy, drunken bar.

Review 32:breakfast. the girls who worked their did their best but seemed embarrassed too at the accommodation they provide. the breakfast was lovely tho which prevented me from scoring zero.

Review 33:The pub down stairs was playing disco music up to 3 am, we measured 84 Db in our room with an Iphone App. INSANE. This place shouldnt be in your data base. Don't thik it is even legal that level of noise

Review 34:nothing.

Review 35:On the main street through Bedford, this place is thoroughly unsuited to sleeping on a Saturday night. The noise from both downstairs and across the street will keep you awake, with added highlights of fights kicking off and police coming to get involved. Very noisy, barely slept, and also very hot

Review 36:Friendly staff and nicely presented room

Review 37:I was not very happy that I phoned a head to say I would be late and itwas very difficult to get in the building. The fire dector was fasllingogf the celing the staff that should be to my roon took twenty minutesto find the right room

Review 38:-Rooms are exactly over the pub, too much noise from music and too much noise from the street -Only ONE shared bathroom/shower for all 4 rooms

Review 39:Breakfast room is "cosy"

Review 40:It can be very noisy as the hotel is right above the pub. We went out partying in Bedford so weren't disturbed by this though.

Review 41:Good location, very hepful staff. Great value for money.

Review 42:Traffic noise but this was inevitable due to the location , would have preferred not to have to walk through the dining area to the bathroom but this is only due to individual preference as we prefer not to have to share with others .

Review 43:Room was basic but clean Bedfing and towels very clean and an impressive breakfast very hot and served at time requested .Staff helpful and caring

Review 44:no parking on site loud music all night .no electric shaver socket no wardrobe to hang your clothes.very noisy .would not recomend.this hotel they should call it bed and breakfast .

Review 45:the room

Review 46:This was more of a bad experience with my use of Booking.com than with the Crosskeys Pub itself. I made the booking in a hurry and without properly researching the property. I never stay anywhere that has a shared bathroom, but I did not notice this when doing my booking. The room was small, there was nowhere to hang clothes and the two beds were definitely singles on opposite sides of the room. The (shared) bathroom was a floor below the room down a narrow, steep, curved staircase. 'Reception' was, in fact, the bar of a busy, successful pub. This meant that arriving mid-evening made for an 'interesting' check-in experience.

Review 47:The individual I dealt with was polite and professional. The existence of a separate entrance to that of the pub was, well, a relief. However, there was nothing else I liked - which is why I cancelled there and then.

Review 48:Very cold room. See above.

Review 49:Staff were brilliant. Breakfast very good. Rooms were spotless and beds very comfortable. We knew the bathroom and toilet were shared but did not expect to walk through the dining room to get to it. One thing that we were not happy with was that the radiator was not working when I complained I was told it was on a timer and that it would be on at 8.30 that evening. This was not the case and we were freezing all night and it was one of the coldest nights of the year.

Review 50:Way too noisy could hear music even at 5am.if you want a shower you have to walk through the dining room and no sink in room

Review 51:The breakfast was good .There is a Wetherspoons up the road

Review 52:Yes one toilet with shower could have had another separate wc maybe better quality sausage and maybe ask how you egg cooked

Review 53:The greeting service and entertainment all in one great time was had

Review 54:The pub was scruffy and the side entrance to the rooms very scruffy the room was basic with no wardrobe only some draws, could not get the internet, if you came back early boom boom boom from the music in the pub. No shower or toilet in the rooms.

Review 55:The staff at breakfast excellent the breakfast excellent, the room and bedding very clean.

Review 56:No ensuite but as we were only there for the night that did not spoil things

Review 57:We went to a gig at Bedford esquires, and this was an excellent place to stay. We had a triple room which was good. The breakfast the next day was excellent. Very homely.

Review 58:Where do I start?.... I think this Hotel(?) is misrepresented on here.. the pics look good but its not the whole story... Private access Yes a grubby corridor down the side of the pub... shared facilities are accessed via the rest area which acts as a dining area too.. its not a Hotel - its rooms above a sports bar.. didnt stay, found better accommodation elsewhere at a better price and to charge £62.00 is rediculous...
