Reviews for Ship Inn

Review 1:The bathroom needed a make over and the floors need fixing so they don't creak when walking on them.

Review 2:The view was amazing and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Review 3:A bit tired but we do know the bedroom are being refurbished/decorated next year.

Review 4:The location is amazing and to see the sea from every bedroom is areal plus. The food was excellent and the staff too.

Review 5:The fact we had to leave!

Review 6:The beds were so comfy, the view from our room was stunning, and the location perfect, just a lovely quaint little getaway ideal for totally relaxing.

Review 7:very disappointed with breakfasts.poor choose of cereal and yogurts. Cooked breakfast very meagre at £75 per night. Not appropriate the staff mopping the floor while eating your breakfast.

Review 8:very slow, disorganised service in restaurant.Hour and half wait for food. This wasnt a one off either.Shame as there wasnt anywhere else nearby to eat,so lots of custom, but something not right in the kitchen..Location of restaurant fabalous .Need more parkin for staying guests too.

Review 9:location and rooms perfect.Clean and comfortable.Tea makin facilities great.Topped up each day.Couldnt get nearer the sea.Fantastic.

Review 10:Very limited parking so would be difficult in peak season

Review 11:Wonderful seaviews and beautiful setting, very hospitable welcome, relaxed and friendly, great food and comfortable lounge and dining.

Review 12:Everything seemed to take a long time!

Review 13:Fantastic location right ion the coast with lovely sea views. Good sized room with modern décor, good quality furnishings and very clean. Very comfortable bar and restaurant area, again with sea views. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 14:The view from the rooms is stunning and were lucky enough to see dolphins in the bay . This place has the right mixture of being somewhere to go for a treat and yet knowing its ok to come in with sand between your toes. We were really well looked after..

Review 15:We just got locked out one night as we was out till 00:35, as was attending a wedding just up the road, due to not having the front door key, we couldn't get in until someone who worked their from the side door heard us and then let us in that way, but they were sorry about it. So just check when you are there that you've got a key for your room and for the front door key if your planning on being out for the night.

Review 16:Staff are very friendly and welcoming. They are always asking if everything is okay with your stay while your there. Food is great, the menu is at a high standard, and presented at a high standard, very clean bed room, with two windows of the sea view, which is lovely to watch the sun set of an evening from you bed. Overall I had a lovely stay, apart from on mishap

Review 17:There were no kitchen facilities that day. It is the only place in the village to eat. Had we have known when we booked through you we would not have stayed there

Review 18:Was expecting better from the restaurant. The Menu had too much burger content. The king prawns were not king prawns and the salad had seen better days. Staff need more co-ordination (one member brought the Wine-line and then a second too it away). Need to get the basics right and consistent then this place could be a goldmine.

Review 19:Lovely location by the beach. Comfortable room (bathroom decor needed a refresh).

Review 20:Although the room was very spacious it was in need of a little TLC mainly the floor being very creaky. The entrance to the upper floor was not very accessible. The furniture in the restaurant was very uncomfortable all being of solid wood.

Review 21:The location was really nice and the room was very spacious.

Review 22:Very limited car parking (only 4 spaces) and with it being next to the beach the small steep road got very congested. Not a great deal to do in the immediate area unless you like walking.

Review 23:Beautiful views, lovely comfy room with great shower. Liked the fact that only 4 rooms and being over a busy pub restaurant - great for people watching too.

Review 24:It is made clear when booking that no car parking is guaranteed. We were lucky to get a temporary spot opposite the hotel and were then able to move over into one of the hotel's bays. A less lucky guest using the public car park had to walk down and up the hill.

Review 25:The location in a lovely little bay, particularly good sitting outside on a warm evening.

Review 26:Noisy plumbing, and fire escape door next to room had to be slammed shut so heard it every time it was used.

Review 27:We were given a warm friendly welcome, lovely staff. View from room fantastic. Hot powerful shower !

Review 28:Rooms were not serviced unless asked, wifi was worthless, very limited parking available, food and breakfast took ages.

Review 29:Beautiful location and room with view of the sea. Staff was also very friendly and accommodating.

Review 30:Could not find anything to dislike, except maybe a little more enthusiasm required with the cleaning!

Review 31:The view was spectacular, had views of the sea from our room, the dining area, inside and out. Was just a short walk down to the beach. The food was excellent, cooked to order. We could sit and watch the sunset from our room. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.

Review 32:Not enough vegetarian options on menu, however staff very happy to ask the chef to cook something off the menu

Review 33:Such a friendly place. Very relaxed. Good food, delicious breakfast & awesome location.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Tucked away from mainstream tourist area. Large Rooms well appointed recently refurbished. Great food and we were surprised with the quality and variety of the menu.

Review 36:We were expecting to get a much bigger room with a big window and a balcony but we weren't given the room that we thought we had booked. The room only had one bedside light and table and it wasn't serviced. Also the parking is a nightmare. On the second day we waited over half an hour for our breakfast. We won't be going back despite its beachside location.

Review 37:The location was good and the staff were very friendly.

Review 38:Although spacious and clean and perfectly functional, the ensuite seemed a bit plain in decor.

Review 39:Ensuite room no.4 has a cosy bay window with table and comfy chairs overlooking the sea. Central heating kept me warm. Dinner and breakfast in the bar-restaurant were both delicious and served by attentive staff.

Review 40:The access to bedrooms was not suitable for older mature guests ,as it was narrow and steep. The external fire escape was easier but exposed to inclement weather

Review 41:The friendliness and courteous Staff

Review 42:Squeaky bedroom floorboards and noisy bathroom fans, easily hear next doors movements. Late breakfast 8:30 start - missed out. But bed excellent, well furnished. Spotless linen/towels.

Review 43:Unbeatable position just off the beach. Pub staff and Food absolutely excellent. Stay, just for this alone. Recommended.

Review 44:The view from the room was beautiful.the location was perfect. The staff were exceotionally helpful and their professional service added to a place we will visit again.

Review 45:Superb pub tucked away adjacent the beach. We were made very welcome throughout our stay. The evening meals and breakfasts were first rate. Wouldn't hesitate to return!

Review 46:Location - bedroom and breakfast and evening meal with excellent sea view. Friendly staff. Facilities ideal for one night stay on our walking weekend - clean, good, hot shower.

Review 47:If you dream of waking up to the sound of the sea and watching the waves from your room this is the place for you. Friendly and helpful staff good food and wine . A great place to escape .

Review 48:The hotel was about to have a refurb before we stayed so everything was slightly chaotic and not to the best standard. I do believe (and hope!) that the refurb will be a success and bring it up to date.

Review 49:Location was fantastic especially having a balcony looking on to the beach and the sea. The bar was very lively and had plenty of atmosphere. The area is also stunning. We really enjoyed our stay.

Review 50:stairs and landing carpet looked tired and dirty, although other areas of the accommodation were well maintained.

Review 51:Good quality room with a sea view and great food. would stay again.

Review 52:End of season tired - Paintwork needs refreshing - general cleanup required - carpet cleaning - toilet brush in room was gross and black mould in shower.

Review 53:Food was good and wine list excellent - Staff were great and welcoming - Location was spot on could not be better we had lovely walks and waterfall was a real feature when the tide went out .

Review 54:Parking very limited. Noise from the bar reaching the bedrooms but stops by 11pm and then very quiet.

Review 55:Fabulous location, well set up for summer evenings inside and out. Open fire for colder evenings.

Review 56:Access to rooms via steep stairs behind counter was in need of a thorough spring clean. In fact I nearly refused to go any further, the carpet and door were so dirty. Carpet to rooms in first part of landing equally dirty. However public rooms were clean, warm and looked after, if a bit tired at end of season. Food on night one was poorly cooked, suffice it to say we ate out the next day. Bed beginning to be uncomfortable. Springy pillows just wouldn't shape to my neck!

Review 57:Position right on cove front overlooking a sign saying "kayak and chips"! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room generous size with balcony. Breakfast was great. Parking no problem at this time of year. Wines were good if a tad expensive for the level of the pub.

Review 58:The parking as other people have mentioned is limited, but the staff helped us manage this, so we had no problems

Review 59:Location in a small cove- friendly helpful staff- nice room- good food with an excellent breakfast

Review 60:Nothing to comment on

Review 61:Right by the sea, on the coast path. Hotel restaurant very good and staff very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.

Review 62:The new managers Andrew n Claire have changed the atmosphere of the ship they made us so welcome a home from home their attention to detail for them its a vocation not a job thank you so much for an amazing experience see u again very soon

Review 63:We booked balcony but didn't get one but views were still great. Pillows were not good and caused disturbed sleep as so flat. They really need to update stairs to rooms as it was very gruby and very off putting.

Review 64:the views were fantastic.watching the dolphins and seals while eating breakfast was awesome. The costal path walk to Abaport was breath taking. Food was good but wish there was more choice. Would definatly go back !!!!

Review 65:Room number 1 had NO WORKING LOCKS on the balcony door or window therefor unable to lock at all. Staff informed. Also, shower room needs a new extraction fan. .

Review 66:Friendly staff and good food plus excellent food.

Review 67:Narrow entrance roads may be daunting.

Review 68:The view was lovely, and the area very quiet. The staff was friendly and the food good. Friendly locals in the bar, and opportunities for dolphin spotting.

Review 69:Smell from the bathroom, smelt damp and of drains. Food was fair although menu very basic, thought due to location there would have been a lot more fresh fish served. Over 40 minute wait for breakfast on the second morning, once we'd placed our order. There were only six of us there and all were waiting. Most of us had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs!

Review 70:Thought staff especially Claire the assitant manager were very friendly and helpful. Loved the location and sea view from bedroom amazing, watching the dolphins swim by.

Review 71:Nothing displeased me, apart from the car parking space was tight and limited. This was a day time problem and didn't exist at night.

Review 72:Everything, the location in a seemingly ancient, rustic part of real Wales. The food was good value for money local food with solid portions. The room was spacious enough with en suite, with a superb vista of a sandy bay The peacefulness and the tranquillity of the location adjacent to the sea, allowed the calming effect of living beside the sea to overwhelm, most therapeutic. The ability to take an evening swim prior to supper was most welcome in September – even at 15 Centigrade or 59 Fahrenheit in old money! People ought to be made aware that the sea stays warm until early November, because it's the warmest in early October and still swimmable the following month because the sea is warmer, and feels warmer, than the ambient air temperature. The sea is coldest in late February due to latency of the Gulf Stream effect.

Review 73:The ship is in need of an update, the bedroom and en suite facilities were basic, but fine for our needs. Wifi and TV signals were intermittent, but who needs those when you have sea views.

Review 74:This budget B&B served us well with access to a lovely stretch of beaches, a room with sea views, easy parking. With its own relaxed atmosphere, it was an easy place to spend some time. Good pub food, and breakfast was good.

Review 75:As a light sleeper all rooms above the bar & cleaner in at 7 30 ,but would go back just to look out at the view.

Review 76:Location great for beach &walks along the coast, all food very good .

Review 77:To say didn't like is rather harsh and some things cannot be changed such as - Parking not always easy but we were warned about this. Things that could be changed for extra stars - Little touches like pots of local jam for breakfast rather than pre-pack cafe style portions would have set them above the normal, and maybe some fresh fruit & yoghurt available for not cereal eaters. Otherwise this is a great place to stay.

Review 78:Location, able to see Dolphins and seals whilst eating breakfast (beat that). All rooms look out over the bay. Helpfulness of the staff. Listening to the Welsh voice choir singing below our bedroom (although others may not appreciate this!)

Review 79:Very poor signal for WiFi (my husband could not get connected-shame!)

Review 80:Away from at all, beautiful beach, every day we saw dolphins and seals swimming. Excellent Coast Path walk, we did the walk along the coast to Aberporth which was just 1.5miles, very enjoyable. Ate at the Ship, it was very good food, a good selection of starters, main meals and desserts. Good view if the sea and beach from the rooms which were clean and welcoming.

Review 81:Limited parking is the only drawback, but not a major problem; we managed to park on the road.

Review 82:In a beautiful spot in a sandy bay. Modern, comfortable room with balcony and sea view. Food seems expensive at first glance, but is excellent quality. If you want a quiet getaway this place is ideal.

Review 83:the Ship Inn is in a superb location on the Welsh coastal path. Good walks in both directions. The rooms have sea views close to the beach and are insulated from the noise of the pub below. Furnishings are in good order and the rooms are spacious. All together, outstanding budget accommodation in a picturesque Welsh village with friendly staff. You will want to stay longer.

Review 84:Limited parking spaces. Nowhere else to eat in the evening. Bar expensive. Disorganised waiting staff kept bringing other peoples food to our table.

Review 85:Great location almost on the beach. Very bright & airy room. Modest but varied food menu & acceptable prices bearing in mind the location.

Review 86:Patio heaters not on..I know it has been nice but there does get a chill in the evening this time of year (early Sept) We stayed for 4 nights and not aware of the terrace menu till last night, but still lovely when food arrived..

Review 87:Location..view of sea from rooms. Claire & Claire and the team very friendly and helpful Excellent choice for breakfast, everything cooked fresh. What a place to chill and unwind..look for seals and dolphins

Review 88:The only fault was the menu was pretty expensive. With only 4 bedrooms, their main income is in the bar and restaurant, so guess its to be expected.

Review 89:Its situated right on the beach front. Sitting on the outside terrace, sipping a cold beer, watching the sun go down and the waves crashing on the shore - cant get much better!? Later lying in bed hearing the wind and waves crashing throughout the night. Very romantic! Staff were all excellent and very chatty. Rooms were big, comfy beds and had breath taking sea front views. Food although pricey was delicious!

Review 90:The shower temperature was rather erratic

Review 91:Amazing view, beautiful sunsets, lovely food, and the friendliest staff. Enjoyed our stay so much we'll be coming back with reinforcements next year!

Review 92:The staff were so friendly and listening to the sea as you went to sleep was great! We saw a dolphin in the morning and the staff went out of their way to be friendly and make our stay really enjoyable!

Review 93:As management had changed so had the food & it wasn't as good as it was when we previously visited. Didn't feel that it was worth the prices we paid. Although did have a free dessert after we complained about the portion size which was nice.

Review 94:This was the second time we'd stayed here and it was just as good as the last time. The management had changed and they were so friendly & spoke with us during breakfast which was a nice touch. Will definitely continue to stay here when in this part of country.

Review 95:Parking is a certifiable nightmare if you don't get one of the very few spaces at the Ship. Area and ship not suitable for fairy disabled people with walking problems

Review 96:Attentive but discreet staff. Right on the beach. Beach at low tide has many interesting features. Quiet. Excellent food. Saw dolphins in the bay.

Review 97:All the staff were very polite and friendly throughout our stay. Quality of food was excellent. Location was ideal, right on the beach and our room had a lovely view of the sunset over the sea.

Review 98:Parking could be challenge if you arrive at the wrong time.

Review 99:We stayed for 3 nights a great Pub by the sea great breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant each night. Excellent food served by very polite, helpful staff - all in all a wonderful stay

Review 100:LEAVING.....!!

Review 102:The room we booked was, "room with balcony and sea view". The room didn't have a balcony so we were disappointed and it couldn't be changed. The stairs leading up from the reception area need a makeover..

Review 103:Very good location, very nice room, well furnished and comfortable. Shower room clean and modern. Lovely view from room.
