Reviews for L'absinthe Hotel

Review 1:Hotel room was large , attractive, comfortable , well equipped , and with a superb view . We had Room # 11 . Staff was helpful and friendly . Parking ( public -pay by meter )was immediately adjacent to hotel. Hotel in great location.

Review 2:We loved the location & the fact they had parking. The employees were wonderful. The room & bathroom great with robes! We could walk everywhere & steps from our door were wonderful restaurants. We will return

Review 3:Nothing

Review 4:Location is superb, secure parking was great if a little walk away. Didn't have breakfast, ate in restaurant owned next door, well worth a visit.

Review 5:Very confusing to find reception, which is also not open all the time. We arived at 4pm to find the door locked. Parking is a 15 mintue walk away from hotel. Overwhelming and lingering stale water smell from jacuzzi style bath. Cannot help to think it is an ideal candidate for the "Hotel Rescue" program.

Review 6:Very good location and spacious room.

Review 7:Unusual property in several buildings. Parking was a problem , no elevator was a problem due to number of bags we had. Fortunately only had to go up one floor. Lobby and breakfast rather drab and not very inviting , lack of bar a negative.

Review 8:Location was great within walking distance of anything you wanted to do or see in the small scenic village. Breakfast was nice , a good quality, French breakfast.

Review 9:Loved the location. Room was quite small but comfortable enough & the bathroom was great. A lovely lounge where you could make yourself a drink. Friendly & helpful staff.

Review 10:This was one of the cleanest hotels we've ever stayed in. Nicely appointed room. The person who checked us in also helped us get our luggage upstairs, which was very generous of her. We loved the jacuzzi tub and bubble bath bombs included, a nice touch. The breakfast was a great assortment of items. Fresh bottles of water were furnished each day without an additional charge. We loved everything about our stay. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 11:Excellent location right in the heart of the pretty port. Easy to get every where we wanted (all walkable). The room we had (No.1) was great and so comfortable. Really lovely bed and beautiful bathroom with great facilities such as a spa bath (which we didn't use) and shower (which we did). The breakfast was lovely and we enjoyed boiling our eggs!!! Lovely lady on Reception when we arrived who was very patient with my halting French but also spoke perfect English!! A lovely start to our french trip, sad we only had one night there.

Review 12:Hotel is difficult to get to at busy tourist times (mid afternoon and on market day!). We had to park in a public car park some distance away and carry luggage to hotel. Location is great for exploring the town and harbour though.

Review 13:Lovely medieval building with period features in bedroom. Fabulously appointed bathroom with spa bath. Good harbour-front location. Very good breakfast. Secure indoor parking.

Review 14:No parking in front of hotel. Perhaps it could have been arranged for you to park your car beside the hotel to unload, but to find that out you had to find somewhere to park in order to register your arrival. The secure parking is not far away but isn't next to the hotel. Traffic in Honfleur is horrendous

Review 15:The hotel was well situated. The room was quiet, clean, well appointed in decor and furnishings. The breakfast was excellent, best I have been offered with a boiler to boil an egg! Bottle of water in the bedroom and tea/ coffee facilities in the reception lounge which was a nice area to sit down.

Review 16:As we were in the annexe I would have expected coffee making facilities. In the pouring rain we did not want to go to the hotel for coffee.

Review 17:The person who greeted us was extremely helpful.

Review 18:The room was not sound proof and very irritating hearing people walking around above you -luckily they went to bed fairly early otherwise could have been a major problem.Long way to walk from the garage with luggage.

Review 19:The room was modern and clean &in a much quieter spot than the old harbour-round the corner.

Review 20:My partner and I enjoyed our stay here however the sound insulation between floors was very poor - we could here the guests above us quite clearly!

Review 21:Clean, friendly, comfortable, spacious and in a lovely situation.

Review 22:Thought breakfast was expensive ($13 euro). especially considering no hot food. Would skip this.

Review 23:This hotel is wonderful. As soon as you walk in the fresh scent hits you. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is like a mini spa. Wonderful jacuzzi, bath salts, Heated towel rack. Luxurious. Also town and the hotel are completely charming. Look no further. You will not be disappointed!

Review 24:When we arrive to a new hotel, we would have the opportunity to make 3 choices. First do you want breakfast or not. Second do you want smoking or non smoking room. Third do you want Wifi or not. If we say yes to any of them we want it all. Not breakfast without coffee and not only cigar smoking room but no cigarettes and not wifi that excludes certain sites. We understand that some sites are inappropriate especially when you are at work. But when you pay good money for a hotel room it must be up to you as an individual and adult to decide which sites to enter. In Our case we where unable to enter Youtube watching one of our favorite Swedish singer songwriter just because the French inquisition stopped minding their own business.

Review 25:The hotel is superb in all matters except 1.

Review 26:Location was perfect. Just 1 minute was from old harbor and lot of restaurants around the hotel. We stayed there with baby and the staff helped us a lot.

Review 27:Tea available in the very pleasant reception. It would be good to have drink-making facilities in the room.

Review 28:Lovely room overlooked the quayside and a great central location. Very comfortable and well furnished, excellent bathroom and helpful friendly staff.

Review 29:Nothing not to like

Review 30:Everything, position, friendly staff, beautiful Restraunt, food was amazing. Comfortable& enjoyable stay, would have spent more time there if we had time.

Review 31:We paid 162 euros for a bed for the night which all in all seems rathera lot. Continental breakfast didn't look very appetising orappealing and at 13 euros each we gave it a miss!

Review 32:Character of the room and decor were excellent. Situation was okay butparking might be difficult; we luckily found a free parking place in asmall square behind the hotel. Being a very old building noise fromother rooms travelled, for example people moving about in room above. Nonoise from the street, however.

Review 33:Can't think of a thing.

Review 34:The beautifully furnished common room, pleasant staff, our gorgeous bedroom, enormous tub/Jacuzzi, location right on the old basin right in the middle of Honfleur. We had bus connections that caused us to arrive early on check in day, and leave way after check out. The staff let us leave our bags right by the front desk--no problem! Also, the staff let me try my baby French with a lot of patience.

Review 35:Great location in town centre, restaurants nearby. Very comfortable, superb room, plenty of space, and lovely bathroom. Coffee/tea making in the lounge.

Review 36:Expensive. As we were in the block across the road from the actual hotel it would have been nice to have had coffee and tea making facilities. If you wanted a drink, you had to go out into the town! did not like this at all! Noise from other rooms - we were kept up until late and woken early each morning by children running around and shouting in the room above us. This needs attention and sound proofing needs to be dealt with.

Review 37:We stayed in a superior room that was very clean and the room had good quality furniture, bathroom to die for and aircon. Great views and so convenient for restaurants and shops. Nice breakfast and plenty of it.

Review 38:I can't understand why they didn't have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms. We were in a room in the annexe so some distance from the reception. Also we had to leave early in the morning and didn't have time for breakfast so we really missed an early morning drink. There wasn't even a facility to make a drink in reception in the morning whilst paying the bill. We won't be returning!

Review 39:The hotel was well located and whilst the town is busy the double glazed windows were very effective at keeping out noise

Review 40:Felt overpriced for what it was. Surprised breakfast was extra. Spa bath was just a gimmick. Restuarant was expensive and clearly catered for higher end clientele, but rather ordinary food at the affordable end of the menu (for French cuisine) and mixed service. Not sure excellent location justified cost.

Review 41:Excellent location near harbour, away from most crowded area. Had second floor large room with good view. Good shower and friendly reception.

Review 42:Smelly downstairs corridors - think it was all the fish restaurants nearby! Small room but maybe not by Honfleur standards? Expensive, but again, maybe not by Honfleur standards. Jacuzzi bath without shower curtain made showering difficult. We were in main hotel section NOT in annex that i think is advertised as overlooking harbour...check pictures and descriptions carefully. Why so expensive a hotel and still pay for breakfast - bit poor I think. We bought lovely pastries for 4Euro at patisserie up the street !

Review 43:It WAS convenient for the town and that seems to be the big appeal here...very busy town, full of people and very small streets so best to walk everywhere so this ticks those boxes. Pretty from outside, nice reception area with coffee / tea in afternoon. A/C in room great because you cannot sleep with open windows in Room 6 as looks over a small walkway looking onto a kitchen of next door restaurant. With window shut and A/C on we heard nothing. Big bathroom. Reception booked us table for their attached restaurant. we parked in main public carpark just across road for 14 euros for overnight.

Review 44:Secure parking is a little walk away but for Honfleur this is not really an issue

Review 45:Location and ambiance are excellent. Very traditional old building with wood beams everywhere. Very modern bathrooms and huge beds

Review 46:We've stayed at L'Absinthe 2 times and will continue to book there when in Honfleur. The rooms are spacious, clean and have many amenities we enjoy. Location is wonderful.

Review 47:Very hard to find. Hotel needs to tell people reception is the old building on left with red painted frames! Car park 15 min walk away. No tea making facilities in room although coffee available at reception. Not a good place for wheelchairs!

Review 48:Excellent views, great location. Lovely town to visit so picturesque. Very clean hotel, excellent walk in wet room for a shower. Lots of towels even a jacuzzi bath. Welcoming, friendly staff.

Review 49:Wish there was a small refrigerator/mini bar and on demand movies.

Review 50:Everything was fantastic from the staff, to the location, to the well appointed room. We had a very comfortable bed with an amazing view and the bathroom was insane with a spacious shower, jet tub, etc. Our comments it what we didn't like was more creature comfort oriented. We would definitely stay here again and was only sorry we had just one night here.
