Reviews for Longlands Inn & Cottages

Review 1:there was nothing to criticise during my stay at the Longlands Inn

Review 2:Friendly and helpful staff, plus the provision of a bed, towel, treats and bowls for my dog. The staff were also willing to provide a table in the bar for me to have my dog with me during breakfast. Definitely a dog friendly hotel and excellent care for the humans too!

Review 3:The noise from the motorway is too much even with double glazing you can still here it

Review 4:The staff were very helpful, and the food and bars are very good

Review 5:The noise from the motorway was not explained before we booked our Lodge.

Review 6:The staff were very helpful & the lodge interior/comfort was fantastic.

Review 7:Lovely food - good breakfast and evening meal. Friendly staff Clean and comfortable cottages Good location - close to Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Review 8:at breakfast there were a few minor hiccups tea was brought but no milk, had to ask twice for some and the plates were cold

Review 9:meal in the restaurant was excellent

Review 10:The room we were in (room 4) was over the kitchen and was noisy so when we return we would ask not to be in that room.

Review 11:The bed was really comfy and the breakfast was delicious. We would certainly stay here again.

Review 12:we had no problems at all everything was perfect

Review 13:Everything was perfect clean, tidy lovely location we had 3 cottages for a family birthday we will be back again next year

Review 14:It is close to the motorway, very close to the Lake District, the coast and the Yorkshire Dales. The food is excellent and the surroundings very pleasent.

Review 15:Cottages could maybe do with a slight revamp. 3rd year here so a lick of paint may help and some of the door handles were loose etc. Nothing major at all, just a quick spruce up! We'd still come back! WiFi in the cottages themselves would be great!

Review 16:Great staff at Lobglands Pub and on reception andmaintenance team, 3rd year here, good facilities,by the canal. Spacious cottages with good facilities in a lovely setting. Kids loved it.

Review 17:Lovely view overlooking the countryside, bed was really comfy. Room tastefully decorated, clean with modern up-to-date ensuite bathroom. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking. A good old english breakfast was served.

Review 18:Breakfast in the morning, not enough food and juices put out, took some time to clear the table.

Review 19:Beautifully located, very easy to find. very good for animal lovers, caravans, motor home owners, campers, and it has everything for weddings.

Review 20:The only downside could be the location of the motorway, which you can hear if your window is open. But it wouldn't put me off staying again.

Review 21:The room was clean and nicely styled. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was large with an excellent shower. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the breakfast could not be faulted.

Review 22:Buffet breakfast at weekend not explained to us, no alternative menu offered. As it was very warm we had to leave windows open and due to the proximity to the M6 it was very noisy.

Review 23:Large airy room with excellent shower room. Staff and breakfast during the week were excellent with good choice of menu. Convenient location.

Review 24:Bed was poor quality (too soft a mattress) and the bedroom furniture should be upgraded. Breakfast was ok - but choice was a bit lacking.

Review 25:Location was good, food in the evening was good value. Bathroom was good.

Review 26:Sette was small and uncomfortable and the bed frame (wooden four poster)was extremely noisy, could even turn over, very disrupted sleep

Review 27:The facilities provided in the lodge

Review 28:Very slow service at evening meal, and quite small portions for a rather expensive meal.

Review 29:The cleanliness of the room, little extras like the the lovely biscuits & bottled water, also the toiletries. The breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice and very well cooked.

Review 30:The food at dinner was below average.

Review 31:We stayed here on our way back to London from Scotland. It's easy to find just of the M6. The 2 bed cottage was spacious and clean.

Review 32:Rooms bit bland need make over No iron in rooms or iron board , Bed was ok 8/10 staying over

Review 33:Resturant food very good And bar area nice Staff polite

Review 34:The staff could have been more helpful.the bed was uncomfortable.no bath and room was cold.struggled with tv freezing up to1channel.

Review 35:The food was excellent.

Review 36:In a large party and not everyone felt the food was particularly good value. When this was raised with staff the response was "Nobody else complains" which suggest a certain complacency. I hate it when you are mechanically asked "Is everything OK with your meals" and your helpful feedback is met with aggression

Review 37:Location

Review 38:The bed was comfortable, but the room was rather short of space.

Review 39:The location is very good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was excellant

Review 40:Poor staff. Wifi did not work. Dead flies in room. Wedding and party on same night so little sleep. Awful service. Room was not made up, beer glasses all over hotel. Lots of moving of heavy objects during the night. Would not recommend at all - ludicrous price given awful room.

Review 41:Lots of parking.

Review 42:Lovely setting . Cottage well equipped .enjoyed late check out 11am. Just perfect for elderly mother and I . Returning next week for another sleep over

Review 43:We went to have a family dinner wich turned out to be awful they had run out of most things what we got was not acceptable.the waitress waa chewing gum all the time abd we felt very uncomfortable as though we where causing her an inconvenience just by being there

Review 44:The cottages are very comfortable abd fully equipped short of nothing we have stayed before and will do again .

Review 45:Double bed could do with being longer, still no Wi Fi, breakfast not available for early risers at the weekend, living area furniture could do with refurbishing

Review 46:A grand place to hang your hat after a long drive.

Review 47:Very loud music from the bar until 1am which we were not expecting. The website said until 12 so it was a bit too much. But once finished it went quiet very quickly so was able to get to sleep.

Review 48:Staff were attentive, helpful, friendly and very professional. The food was excellant Overall a lovely place, good quality furnishings, great rooms ,very clean and we will return.

Review 49:The Longlands is quite a noisy place. It's bar is busy and during our stay you can hear doors slamming a lot aLatin the kitchens and the fire alarm went off which was quite disturbing. If you want a quiet relaxing stay I would suggest this is the place.

Review 50:The staff are very friendly and the Longlands is very clean and well presented. its also very pet friendly which is great.

Review 51:The only fault was heavy the dust above the 4 poster bed rails.

Review 52:Great kitchen facilities, there was everything you needed provided. Huge bathroom. Nice cosy lounge area. The addition of Christmas trees inside was a nice touch. Would certainly stay again.

Review 53:The room we were given was the worst I've stayed in, anywhere. Incredibly noisy, right above the bar. Heating was off when we got there (-3 outside at the time we had to ask for it to be put on), tiny, tiny bed not even a double more like a 3/4 bed. My feet hung over the end and I'm not that tall. Too near M6, so noisy and too near an A road. We complained and a nice lady moved us. Rest of the rooms were just generic not "character" as it says.

Review 54:Pet friendly, the dog was welcome most places and some of the staff were very helpful. Food was not bad. Ronnie was a friendly chap.

Review 55:No wifi

Review 56:5 star accommodation couldn't have asked for anything more. Location was brilliant things to do for small children within walking distance top quality

Review 57:Decor a bit Travelodge-ish, was expecting a traditional pub, but this is really place to eat and the pub had no atmosphere at all; not cosy.

Review 58:Friendly and very helpful staff. Spotlessly clean, lovely toiletries.

Review 59:Comfortable bed Bathroom was fab. Large bath and gallons of hot water and fluffy towels. Food was tasty and well cooked and presented Staff were lovely

Review 60:In the booking.com information the cost for an extra bed was £15 but it is actually £30, while £15 is for a cot.

Review 61:The room was spacious, clean and beautiful. The breakfast was generous and delicious.

Review 62:The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and courteous. This is the best customer service we have had in a long time. The cottage was immaculate, cosy and comfortable. Great situation for the purpose of our visit.

Review 63:Nothing at all

Review 64:We loved it from the moment we got there ater traveling from Australia it was a very welcome site and just got better and better we will definatly recommend to any one who will listen x

Review 65:Room 11 is directly above room in which a noisy party was in progress. The music finnished at just after midnight however so this didn't really detract from our stay. Check for functions when you book!

Review 66:Clean comfortable room, friendly helpful staff and a very good breakfast combined to make this a very relaxing break-highly recommended.

Review 67:Our stay was spoiled by the unsavoury antics and noise from the couple in the adjacent room which continued throughout the night.

Review 68:We liked the hotel itself, the meals and the staff

Review 69:Although the Coach House is lovely it is situated above the bar area and was rather noisy at late hours. However, this would not put me off staying there in the future.

Review 70:I have stayed at the Longlands on a few occasions. The rooms are clean and I particularly love the Coach House as it is cozy and vintage style. All the rooms are decorated beautifully.

Review 71:Friendly staff, friendly atmosphere convenient location for m6 motorway reason we used it. Also whilst there found out it good base to explore English countryside. Delicious food. No faults at all.

Review 72:No shower cap provided. Though staff were polite most were rather impersonal which I do not usually expect from a 'family owned business', plus you usually had to go into the busy bar to find reception staff. I was glad I was not sharing the double room as it was quite cramped with very little surface space to put things down e.g. suitcase. Also I thought paying £79 for single occupancy, even on a Friday, was not value for money especially as I paid £50 for a nicer and more spacious b & b double room in Keswick the following night.

Review 73:Overall cleanliness. Breakfast food was good quality and there was reasonable choice. Firm bed. Smart, clean bathroom with very good size shower. Earplugs provided in bedside drawer. Staff polite, some very helpful by carrying my case upstairs. Very nice shower/hand gel, body lotion and shampoo.

Review 74:Firm mattress and pillows not to my liking.

Review 75:The quality of furniture and accessories. Close to both Lake District and Dales. Excellent Farm Shop over the road.

Review 76:Can't think of a thing.

Review 77:Lovely place, walked round the cottages too and they looked modern and comfortable. Very close to the motorway, so would use this any time we are going south.

Review 78:The duvet. Stayed mid September-the duvet would have catered for a stay in the North Pole. Not enough comfy seats. Cottage sleeps 4, there is one 2 seater and 1 hidiois arm chair.

Review 79:Location. Facilities. Style of cottage. Bar and restaurant.

Review 80:Nothing.

Review 81:The best self-catering accommodation we have ever had. Everything was provided.Set in beautiful countryside but easy access to the Lakes and the M6. So nice to be able to take our dog on holiday with us. We made our own breakfasts, had lunch out and then came back to eat in the bar every evening.

Review 82:The hotel is SO close to the M6 that it felt like the traffic was passing the bottom of my bed! Breakfast sounds good (local produce etc) but failed to deliver. I had full English which was OK (ish), wifey had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon which was truly awful - the salmon was inedible.

Review 83:Room is very nice.

Review 84:Situated in an ideal location within travelling distance to various attractions. Although the rooms are comfortable and clean the larger rooms could do with a coat of paint and some pictures to give that homely feel. I have stayed in this hotel many time and would certainly recommend it to others.

Review 85:Nothing to dislike to be honest!

Review 86:Another fab stay @ Longlands. Great staff at the Longlands Inn and fantastic food. Cottages are spacious and clean, with fantastic facilities and all modern fixtures and fittings.

Review 87:Noisy at night although when I did get to sleep I slept well. Very slow service at breakfast - waited almost 40 minutes for cooked food.

Review 88:Lovely room and bathroom. Breakfast very nice.

Review 89:Dinner was overpriced for the quality of food received ( second night) - with the Burger dish being particularly disappointing.

Review 90:The staff were very pleasant and attentive. Room was good and very comfortable. Excellent breakfast menu. Great disco and food for wedding reception.

Review 91:The restaurant had a limited menu, but otherwise good.

Review 92:The cottage we stayed at was excellent, clean, modern, well equipped. Would stay here again, not too far away from different places to visit.

Review 93:Wall are quite thin. They allow dogs in the rooms - I hope they spend extra time on the housekeeping afterwards!

Review 94:Great restaurant - everything homemade. The black-pudding scotch egg on balsamic apple puree starter was divine. Great breakfast cooked to order too.

Review 95:In need of a bit of TLC in places but then that almost added to the country inn feeling!

Review 96:The lovely country inn type atmosphere, spacious rooms and fantastic breakfast

Review 97:Very poor service in restaurant Dinner was disappointing smallest piece of sea bass I have ever been served and the rest of the meal was very bland. Ghastly pictures on the walls everywhere! Lumpy duvet.

Review 98:Good breakfast Comfortable bed

Review 99:Bright airey room. Good location close to motorway and nice area close to canal. Choice of breakfast and good time slots (2 hours) Dog friendly in bar area. Staff helpful and friendly showed to our room rather than directed where to go. Large shower room with large shower, toiletries available. Nice atmosphere in bar in the evening, busy with customers eating, didn't have to wait a long time for food.

Review 100:Wi-fi is still sketchy in rooms at best. The staff are aware but it isn't an easy fix, it is however fine in the bar.

Review 101:Food is great. Bed is comfy. Staff are welcoming and location is good.

Review 102:No wi-fi in the room, and even had difficulty in the restaurant/bar.

Review 103:This was a very comfortable cottage style room, 2 large bathrooms (upstairs and down). Fully self contained.

Review 104:I stayed here for one night recently, I regretted not staying for longer, it was lovely and great value! The one bedrooms cottage was lovely inside, well kept, clean and tidy. I have already recommended to friends and family to stay here if they go to the lakes. Can slightly hear the motorway when you go outside but it didn't bother me and you can't here it when your inside.

Review 105:We had an evening meal as a group, the service was fine but the food was a little unimpressive. I have had better for less.

Review 106:Staff were very good. It was very suitable to my purpose. As a big party with different needs it was flexible enough to cater for everyone. Pizza in the bar was quite good.

Review 107:Waited in restuarant for 1hr! The rest is too full and understaffed. The food is nice and got a discount for waiting. It's a self-catering hotel so can't complain much.

Review 108:The cottage is modern designed and newly decorated. Surprised to find all the stuffs u can think of for a family living. Liked the shampoo and body wash. Would definitely come back again.

Review 109:Just wish they had lined curtains as current ones are not great, let too much light in. Suggest putting an inner blind up. Just a thought.

Review 110:Food in the pub downstairs was fantastic.

Review 111:Excellent find....lovely wee hotel

Review 112:Absolutely nothing

Review 113:Everything and everyone

Review 114:Internet didn't work.

Review 115:Friendly staff and clean room.

Review 116:Great atmosphere

Review 117:lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings, helpful staff and food exquisite. Id come again..

Review 118:Wasn't an issue but u can hear the motorway.

Review 119:Handy for a walk by the canal.

Review 120:Friendly pub/restaurant. Food excellent

Review 121:Generator outside bedroom window

Review 122:Staff helpful, room was changed immediately on request

Review 123:Nice hotel nice food close to where we where going to spend the two diving

Review 124:Excellent reception, food and venue for a large meeting

Review 125:No problem with hotel but didn't realise price was more through bookin.com.

Review 126:Wifi in room. Friendly staff. Bar atmosphere and food.

Review 127:I needed a quiet relaxed few days with some good food and that's exactly wot I got thank you

Review 128:Very good hotel and restaurant within pub surrounds. Excellent location next to a marina.

Review 129:Nothing

Review 130:Excellent service from friendly staff nothing was too much trouble for them.

Review 131:Some motorway noise. It rained!

Review 132:Very comfy, very friendly, food and drink were lovely. We will deffinately go again for a short break.
