Reviews for The Park Hotel
Review 1:The Owners are super friendly and go all out to ensure you are well catered for throughout your stay! Stayed off peak and got a great price through booking.com
Review 2:Poor value for money more like a B and B than a hotel Property needs a major refurb The fact that they didn't have any extra pieces of toast other than the one piece each offered highlighted the service
Review 3:No bad experiences: wifi is a bit "iffy" (not the hotel's fault, I'm sure) --- it comes and goes! And I never found a furnished lounge in which to relax and use my laptop; though the bar served the latter purpose quite adequately.
Review 4:Very friendly staff.
Review 5:Great overnight stay, lovely location, very warm welcome from friendly staff, good local ale, great food, spacious comfortable clean room. Would stay again.
Review 6:No hairdryer or telephone in the bedroom. A disappointment, considering the money. Not worthy of a 3 star hotel sadly. Needs modernising.
Review 7:The staff were very friendly, helpful and put themselves out to help with a problem I had. The breakfast was satisfactory.
Review 8:Made to feel unwelcome as soon as we stepped in! Thank goodness for the local pub or our stay would have taken a poor turn! Thin walls unfortunately resulted in my waking at 5am which was unexpected given the age of the property.
Review 9:Beautiful property & gardens, nice room & view. Local pub less than 5 minutes walk away.
Review 10:No biscuits with tea in room. Toilet seat not clean but think this has just bn overlooked as overall bathroom was v clean. To me it was more of b&b than hotel.
Review 11:Lovely setting staff v helpful. Double bed v soft... Too soft for us. Breakfast great. V clean generally. Lovely gardens.
Review 12:Would have preferred a couple of comfy chairs in the room.
Review 13:Very good location for us. Any staff that we met were very friendly and helpful. Good menu for evening meals and very good value.
Review 14:that the hotel advertised that food is served all day, when arrived at hotel we asked where to order food and was told no food until tonight sorry as we have a wedding on- how was we ment to know? Don't sleep in room 4 mattress full of springs poking out

Review 16:None.
Review 17:Spacious family room and bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff at check in and morning breakfast. Spacious car park. Nice view of garden from room. Wi-fi.
Review 18:I felt that the food let this place down. Soggy reheated vegetables and inferior white bread.
Review 19:Nice decor and comfortable, clean room. The owner went to some trouble to get me what I wanted for my packed lunch.
Review 20:The hotel was very quiet with only one other guest that I saw giving little atmosphere in the restaurant for dinner or breakfast.
Review 21:The hotel provided me with a relaxing evening following a walking weekend before travelling back to Sussex. Lovely dinner and substantial breakfast.
Review 22:Everything was good.
Review 23:The staff and owners couldn't have been better. They were friendly, accommodating and really helpful. Not to gush too much, but they were great. We also arrived in time for lunch. We had the roast chicken and it was excellent.
Review 24:Hosts welcomed me with a reviving pot of coffee on arrival. Room warm and comfortable, excellent early breakfast .Also the hosts did some laundry for me.
Review 25:The room was so cold we slept with our clothes on even with the heating on. In the morning went to shower but the towels were that damp it felt like someone had just used them.
Review 26:Great first impression Very welcoming hosts Good food
Review 27:Very small bedroom. My husband could hardly get in on his side of the bed. No drawer space. No lounge but this may have been becasue a wedding was expected on the Saturday. Functions seem to get priority. Poor breakfast if you did not have a cooked breakfast. Only cereal and orange juice. Don't have sausages. Awful pillows.
Review 28:The grounds and location.
Review 29:Had to wait around for reception staff and the shower was difficult to get to a decent temp
Review 30:Clean hotel with a nice comfortable room close to Abergavenny.
Review 31:Nothing.

Review 51:Great hosts, lovely room with very comfy beds. Beautiful back gardens.
Review 52:Staff were a little rude, breakfast the worst we had on a 5 day trip compared to cheaper B&B's.
Review 53:Location Great Looking Hotel
Review 54:Lovely clean hotel with plenty of space
Review 55:nICE HOTEL IN GREAT SETTING.wE HAD FAMILY ROOM WHICH WAS ROOMY AND CLEAN.BREAKFAST WAS OK AND EASY PARKING.
Review 56:Good quite location, with the atmosphere of a prewar country residence.
Review 57:The towel has some (just tiny bit that you can sniff it when you wipe your face) cigarette smell even after we ask for a new one on day 2.
Review 58:The owner and staff were super nice and friendly. Family room were big and spacious.
Review 59:Hopeless "continental breakfast" Never before in a good hotel have I ever been offered corn flakes and milk, full stop! (plus a glass of orange juice). No lift.
Review 60:Easy access off main road. Nice country views.
Review 61:The rooms and bar were cold and therefore the linen & towels felt slightly damp. To have popped the heating on for an hour or two would have made the stay far more comfortable and perfect. I am only 43 so an elderly guest would really have felt it.
Review 62:The welcome was wonderful. Food excellent and catered to my specific needs which are difficult to accommodate. Very Friendly staff. Immaculately kept. Decor is fresh and modern whilst still retaining period features. Very classy gentry type establishment but warm and friendly.
Review 63:The room was a little warm for me, but just right for the wife ;-) the usual male, female issues ha ha so overall there was very little that we didnt like A1 Service
Review 64:The scenery was stunning and the Staff were delightful, friendly and very accomodating. We are already planning our next visit, with fingers crossed for better weather.
Review 65:Booked in for two nights and had to leave after one as there was an emergancy back home.Hotel only charged me for the one night even though they were quite entitled to charge me for the two. Its a simple little thing but one that would ensure my patron when next in the area.
Review 66:Being charged £10 on top of the usual hotel rate because I had booked with Booking.com Very unhappy with this charge. Food was only average. Dining room had no atmosphere, silent and bare.
Review 67:Lovely bedroom Very pretty gardens Good beer Friendly staff
Review 68:Not located in the countryside some distance from main roads, as we had understood from the ad. It's a good hotel but a bit overpriced compared to other places we've stayed at.
Review 69:Nice place with good facilities and a beautiful garden; easy to find as it's next to the main road.
Review 70:tiny tv in family room very well worn carpet bunk beds and lack of milk for tea coffee no hot chocolate for children no biscuits either which are generally provided. breakfast was basic lack of choice for cereals limited toast and no refill for tea and coffee offered seemed short staffed once again. not as economic A family room as others we used so not particularly good value
Review 71:nice walks nearby beautiful gardens and outlook
Review 72:The decor was looking a tiny bit tired, especially in the bathroom(always a bad idea to have carpet in a bathroom).
Review 73:We stayed here for a friend's wedding, and there were 5 adultssharing a family room (double bed, bunkbeds and a single). We were a bitconcerned that we would be cramped, but actually the room was huge andthere was plenty of room. The bathroom was also massiveThe hotel is in a beautiful old house, and has loads of character, and beautiful gardens. The rooms were all very spacious and light. There's a bar and the restaurant where we ate breakfast in the morning. Breakfast was traditional cooked breakfast, or variations thereof, and while it wasn't anything particularly special, it was perfectly fine. They could possibly do with offering a little more choice. The location of this hotel is also beautiful, right in the Brecon Beacons and only 5 miles from Abergavenny. You can do some really nice walks straight from the hotel, and it's a good base for exploring the surrounding area. We only met the staff very briefly, but they seemed friendly and helpful. This hotel was fantastic value for money, and I would definitely recommend it.
Review 74:outdated (but perfectly serviceable) room facilities
Review 75:Beautiful location, grounds and building. Friendly, helpful staff and friendly atmosphere in the bar. Large airy family room. Breakfast was straightforward but the eggs and bacon were good quality.
Review 76:I attended a wedding and the setting was perfect! Small but ideal, food and service excellent. Suppose it helped that the sun and added to the romance and emotions of the day.
Review 77:Nothing to declare
Review 78:Well size and confortable rooms. Great staff and location for nature and open air sports lovers. The hotel is sourronded by breathtaking landscapes. Aupa athletic.
Review 79:My visit was the first week back at work in January so things were a bit quiet. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly when I was working from the hotel. The food was very good, both breakfast and evening meal were well prepared. My room was comfortable and clean, great value for money.
Review 80:Faulty room kettle - cuts out unless perched at an angle. Bunk beds need second pillows.
Review 81:Friendly staff, spacious room , good breakfast, lovely building and location.
Review 82:The room although adequate looked very tired and needed poss re decorating. The choice on the menue for an evening meal was limited. Thought it was quite expensive for what we got in relation to the room and the restuarant.
Review 83:The grounds and the staff
Review 84:The owner who recognised me from previous stays and very thoughtfully laid a table for me by the window in the restaurant. And there was also the sunset over the Black Mountains.
Review 85:A very friendly and welcoming hotel. My single room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The food was exceptional and the staff were very attentive. I wish I had booked a longer break.
Review 86:No reception, hotel room on arrival freezing cold, public rooms cold and uninviting, breakfast waiter unpleasant and unhelpful. If the owner had been available on departure we would have complained in person. however, she was nowhere to be found.
