Reviews for Wellington Hotel
Review 1:Heating in room on all night which made room a bit stuffy just opened window and it was fine and no hair dryer or phone in the room but not a big deal
Review 2:We were in room 11 a cosy comfortable room with a big en suite also for £29 it was top notch as we were attending a party in the city we didn't get to try the food but what we saw being served looked great and very reasonably priced staff were very helpful a great little place will definitely be back and would recommend
Review 3:Mattress was horrendous with every spring poking through, pillows and duvet were thin and very lumpy. We were crippled in the morning and got very little sleep. We didn't get asked if we'd enjoyed our stay.
Review 4:Staff were all very welcoming and friendly. Hotel was warm and very clean. Food was good and very reasonably priced.
Review 5:The mattress was not very comfortable due to the springs. The heat was unbearable but easily controlled at the heater
Review 6:Staff were friendly and informative and very helpful Room was nicely decorated and very clean
Review 7:Room & Bathroom were really small and cramped, the mattress was uneven and uncomfortable and when we got round to going to sleep noticed that there was only 1 pillow with no spares in the wardrobe
Review 8:When we first got into the room we noticed a bulb was out staff were helpful in getting it replaced,
Review 9:The carpet in room had a lot of marks on it. Had to ask for clean coffee mugs in the room to replace the coffee marked ones. Noticed the hotel was under staffed, but the staff provided a friendly service.
Review 10:Cooked breakfast was very greasy and eggs were not properly cooked Shower not clean
Review 11:Menu was good evening meals were good staff were friendly and efficient very pleasant atmosphere
Review 12:On arrival we had difficulty getting from the front door to the reception as the floor was covered with christmas decorations which 2 members of staff were starting to put up. We stood at reception for a couple of minutes before anyone came to speak to us. The main light in the room didn't work so as it was dark we had to fumble around to find a lamp. Only one bath towel. Flat pillows. One tea bag. No spoons. The carpet at the side of the bed obviously hadn't been hoovered for a long time. The bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupants. Nobody on reception when we left.
Review 13:The location was good and the hotel looked enviting on arrival. The reception, bar and restaurant appeared to be quite nice as did the bedroom at first glance.
Review 14:I'm so sorry to have to leave a bad review, because previous stays have been much better. First problem: Their WiFi is not "free" at all: it requires you to provide all your personal details, including exact date of birth, so their suppliers can sell the information on to anyone. Disgraceful and dangerous. My advice: Don't use their WiFi. Second problem: The TV remote control was so dirty and tacky, I wanted to wipe it with a bit of toilet paper, but I had just used the last of it to wipe my bum, and there was NO REFILL IN THE ROOM. Horridly mean housekeeping. Third problem: Service in the restaurant was so very slow. When it took 22 minutes for them to serve my ice cream desert, I complained to the waitress. Instead of an apology, all I got was a 'Sybil Faulty' style remark "Oh, I know, I know". If you are the owner of the Wellington Hotel, I suggest you get down there right away and give the staff a good talking to!
Review 15:Good location just outside Aberdeen (south). Easy parking Food available all day (although it takes all day to get it)
Review 16:It is small double bed which isn't always ideal when there is 2 of you even if your smaller
Review 17:Great hotel for what he needed. The shower was amazing.
Review 18:Ventilation in the bathroom was a bit poor for the shower and it leaked a bit so there was a puddle on the floor within a minute.
Review 19:The room was cosy and clean, better than I expected at the price. Shower was fantastic.
Review 20:Evening waitress not very helpful when I was explaining that I've to follow a gluten free diet as I'm a coeliac ordered a steak and asked to make sure it was gf.. She was quite rude.. Than served me my steak with coated onion rings which I can't have !!!!!! Think staff should be retrained about how to deal with diet requests. Ceoliac disease is not a choice..
Review 21:Very good value for money very friendly and homely Bar staff n chef was very nice excellent service at bar
Review 22:To reach the room, you have to cross the restaurant every time. Not a show stopper, just a slight annoyance.
Review 23:Affordable stay in a clean and comfortable hotel. There is a restaurant within the hotel that serves affordable and good food.
Review 24:No hairdryer in the room 2nd day the drinks cups were yesterdays and the biscuits were not replenished. (nit pick)
Review 25:We were visiting family and the location was 10 minutes away by car. The Food is excellent and good value, the Staff are helpful and friendly.
Review 26:could have used directions about access - I didn't look very hard for them but considering the difficulties it would have helped to have this drawn to my attention. I passed close to the hotel a number of times in looking for it. Wifi not working at hotel
Review 27:nearly £10 for 2 pints of peroni, damp smell from hallway which really affected my breathing
Review 28:clean, spacious room. large shower, great staff, tv bays in dining area, cant comment on food as we only had a drink - did look great tho
Review 29:Sadly the bed was not at all comfortable, past its ' use by' date! Everything else perfect.
Review 30:Good value, lovely restaurant onsite, good size room with all amenities. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
Review 31:Booked for dinner on Saturday night. Took 45 mins for order to be taken. Starter was fine. Further 45 minute wait for main course. Eventually staff stopped got food which had obviously been sitting under hot plate and was dried out and burnt. 2 members of staff dealing with taking orders and serving food. Needs more staff
Review 32:Staff were friendly
Review 33:The bed was too small for two people to fit in. The wifi was slow most of the time.
Review 34:Staff were helpful. The room was clean though a bit small. The restaurant was quite good.
Review 35:The hotel room wasn't clean at all, dirty sheets, glasses, towels. Stains on the tables, hairs on the toilet seat (which certainly weren't mine) I wouldn't be back, regardless of the price.
Review 36:Lack of sleep during night due to disturbance / noise Bedside lamp bulb inoperative Room very small Noise of bar coolers / fans opposite No view from window Other people being allowed to smoke by main doors and cigarette smoke drifting into dining area
Review 37:Meals very good value and very tasty Staff very polite and friendly
Review 38:Wi-Fi was a bit of a joke. Helpful girl in the bar gave useful assistance. Directions on finding the hotel could be better.
Review 39:Nice friendly staff, good facilities. Modern, well appointed room.
Review 40:I've been charged for the room twice and didn't received my money back. I made a reservation through booking.com but the receptionist could not find it in the system so she booked me separately. I paid at the hotel and been charged for the other reservation too. I called the hotel and been assured that I will be refunded, 3 weeks and still no refund.
Review 41:The room was a funny smell and 1 towel was unclean. The bed was small and the shower temperature was unadjustable as the only setting was too hot. Floor was a bit sticky.
Review 42:The only thing I'd fault would be size of some of the rooms but it didn't really matter to us to be honest.
Review 43:My partner and I use the Wellington whenever we have nights out in Aberdeen. The hotel is the same every time we go. Clean room, good facilities, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. What more do you really need?
Review 44:Unfortunately no hot water, but the management dealt with this excellently The hotel overall was very good value for money
Review 45:Excellent manager!friendly staff
Review 46:The pillows were very uncomfortable and the towels smelt funny.
Review 47:The room was cosy and warm, the decor was lovely and the room had everything we needed including good, free WiFi, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv and a lovely hot shower.
Review 48:The bathroom light and the bedroom lamp were not working. Unfortunately this meant that we had to use the main light. Additionally, our room was on the ground floor facing the car park. As there were no nets for privacy, it was necessary to keep the blind down and light on even during the day.
Review 49:The staff were excellent and the room was comfortable.
Review 50:Breakfast on the Saturday was burnt bacon half cooked egg was crisp round edges and sausage was burnt not worth £9.my husband did mention it to the waiters.
Review 51:IT was convenient.
Review 52:We would have preferred a room with a bed that you could walk around, neither of us like the confinement of a bed hard against a wall.
Review 53:Very pleasant hotel with location that suited our needs.
Review 54:The staff were really unfriendly wouldn't give us room service after eleven! Had to walk through restraunt to get to room! We had a family emergency and had to leave unexpectedly but no one was there to check us out so had to leave key in room and money in bank for them to take a payment really unprofessional hotel
Review 55:None
Review 56:We stayed just the one night as we were going to a concert at the aecc. We took our own car so saved on costs of taxis etc so location wasn't a problem for what we needed to stay. I guess for city centre etc this would be a perfect hotel as public transport passes all the time. The rooms are great for what you pay very clean showers hot and powerful. Very happy.
Review 57:bed was too hard but that was a preference rather than quality but pillows were too thin and the smell of urine from toilet was over powering
Review 58:location was great, staff were friendly and wifi was handy. breakast wasnice
Review 59:Shower was not hot and very weak. Room quite small. Pillows were utterly useless.
Review 60:Decor and feel of room looked fresh, modern and felt welcoming. Staff were friendly. Room was warm
Review 61:This is a modern pub/restaurant rather than a hotel. Whilst the room was fine there were no sitting/relaxing areas.
Review 62:Very good room with good shower and comfortable bed.
Review 63:Soap dispenser over bath was empty. Bedside light didn't work. Dimmer for main light didn't work. Shower doors were not very clean near the floor.
Review 64:Very comfortable matress. Biscuits to go with the coffee! We were offered sandwiches as we arrived after the restaurant had close - nice gesture.
Review 65:Susan (our waitress for the evening) and the other staff were incredibly friendly and the food/service was outstanding. Will definitely stay again if i have to travel to Aberdeen with work again.
Review 66:Blind in room was broken so could not open it room (and corridor) musty smell - no natural ventilation
Review 67:Decent restaurant friendly staff relaxed. good brekfast
Review 68:No complaints at all
Review 69:Rooms are spotless and beds are comfy, nice staff and very reasonably priced, been to this hotel 5 or 6 times now and never been disappointed
Review 70:The room was very small am no slim him but not much room in shower and toilet room. The three quarter bed was hard against the wall which mean you have to climb over partner in middle of the night . Then squeeze into the loo. We only stayed the one night but booked two so had to pay for the two. To exit the hotel from the room you have to go through the dinning area and the bar not my liking .
Review 71:The Wellington is central the bedding was clean staff were friendly .
Review 72:Mould on bathroom ceiling made me physically sick twice. If you get room 18 check for mould before you unpack, not good at all.
Review 73:Excellent staff throughout. Nice food and cracking pint of best.
Review 74:Staff nice and friendly. Room small but very clean and modern as was the ensuite bathroom. A bus stop right outside the hotel with a 10 min journey into the city centre saves trying to find parking in the busy city centre. Food was lovely with a good selection available.
Review 75:No istructions to WiFi access. Room a little bit noisy (we werein room 4).
Review 76:We booked a double room en-suite at a very good price! Nice and clean, with tea and coffee facilities (the breakfast cost 9£). There's alsothe possibility to have dinner in their restaurant, a big deal ifyou're tirend and don't want to go downtown. The hotel has a bigparking. Even if it seems that it's far from the city center, itonly took us 10 mins to get to Union Street by car. Lots of supermarketand petrol station nearby. The staff was super friendly: they let us usetheir pc to print our boarding pass.
Review 77:The room was small, but we knew that when booking.
Review 78:Catered for what we needed for the night. Good restaurant. Plenty of parking out front. Service station across the road allowed us to hit the road quickly.
Review 79:overcooked fish first night was replaced no problem sat night giving table and told to order at bar too busy we were told place was empty not great
Review 80:Waiter first night was great manager very helpfull
Review 81:Room space was ok but don't expect a lot of moving room. Noise from the hallway seemed quite loud in the room so unsure about how sound proof the rooms are. Bit far out in terms of taxi fare.
Review 82:No noise from the main dining bar area. High level of cleanliness, Good breakfast with large portions. Staff were very friendly and unobtrusive.
Review 83:The room size was quite small but provided everything you needed so this was not an issue. Only 1 little complaint was the bedside lamps didn't work but this was not major.
Review 84:Staff were brilliant - so helpful and friendly. Food at restaurant was amazing - great value for money. We had a very relaxing weekend. Booked already to come back :-)
Review 85:the bed was too small and soft, pillows too flat room very very small, bedroom very very small tough if you were big built ( knees to your chest on the toilet) could have been cleaner, just the little things that become bigger problems, the room does not look like the pictures as bed against wall at one side with chips on the wall ??????????
Review 86:the location was good for us,and the staff were friendly ,did not try the food so can not comment, went out for a meal for our wedding anniversary
Review 87:No hair dryer in room. But could have got one by going to reception.
Review 88:Pleasant staff. Comfy firm bed and quiet room. Didn't eat there so can't comment on food.
Review 89:Overpriced, torn bedclothes, dusty room, broken toilet seat, leaking shower, smallest double room we have ever stayed in, given only one set of towels and had to ask twice for another set, morning coffee cups left dirty by staff and not replaces, bar staff with no customer experience.....simply a totally terrible experience and the manager did not have the decency to ask how our stay went when we were leaving....just as well. We will never again go anywhere near this hotel and would advise others to do exactly the same.
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:The desk light wasn't working and they didn't have a replacement. The room could have been cleaner - i.e. dusted in the corners
Review 92:good comfortable bed and nice bathroom, very quiet and peaceful, good restaurant facilities, easy to find and plenty of parking.
Review 93:I was allocated an accessible room but was not informed this at time of booking.
