Review 1：No bad experience as such, just glad it was my company paying for the hotel, it was very expensive, could never afford to take a short break in such expensive accommodation.

Review 2：The accommodation was excellent, needed a map and a compass to find my way around the bed, it was enormous. The staff were exceptionally friendly.

Review 3：Strong parfume in the entrance hall similar "Abercrombie" style not nice when you are having breakfast which is anyway expensive.

Review 7：The food we ordered for room service was terrible and felt even more terrible due to the price!! Having spent £30 on a pizza, chips and a salad I would expect something very nice not something that was barely edible. Very disappointed.

Review 19：I was given a smoking room as that was all that was available. I had a chest infection at time and the fact the room stank of smoke made the stay very uncomfortable. The staff were unable to compensate me as the booking was made online, it made an overall very unsatisfactory experience.

Review 39：The facilities are good and Penta is always clean. I dont know what air freshner you use in the lobby area but that fresh smell amd warmth is nice to walk into! Staff always friendly and helpful. I always stay at Penta when I come to reading and won't ever stay anywhere else!

Review 40：We were on the 1st floor and noise from hotel events and outside was an issue. The shower, as we had seen in reviews, fills faster than the drains away. And the room being hot without the the air conditioning resolving the issue was met with a fan arriving many hours later.

Review 48：Style over substance. This is not a cheap hotel so it's not too much to expect good quality bedding, curtains which actually cover the windows, something decent to eat on room service menu - burgers and snacks - and also a shower that doesn't need to be turned off after two minutes to avoid flooding the bathroom! Also why does room access fail at 11.50am when checkout is midday? ( No apologies from staff). The surrounding area is awful. Ibis and Novotel both in far better location. I wish I had stayed at one of them!

Review 49：Two small double beds pushed together was good but it had two quilts instead of one big one, also the bed was noisy ;). There's an ironing service but could of done with an iron just for a top.

Review 61：We didn't arrive at the hotel until gone past midnight and had to be up early to get to a 9am appointment so all we wanted to do was go straight to bed and sleep. The member of staff that checked us asked for our name and then spent around 10-15 minutes just staring at a computer screen and not communicating to us. After what felt like absolutely ages, he asked for my card to pre-authorise payment. There was no message on the chip and pin device and at no point did he let me know I could take my card out so I just pulled it out of the device when we finally had a room key. He was completely unapologetic and rude, especially when the room key didn't work to activate the lift twice in a row. When we got to the room we were very disappointed with the quality for the price. We were given a disabled room which we didn't request, the bed was very small and uncomfortable and there was hardly any room in the bathroom, with no shelving or units for any toiletries. We were trying to sleep when the room telephone rang at 12:40pm. It was reception telling me that their system had not registered my card and I needed to come down as there was no other way of pre-authorising payment. I told them it was a completely inappropriate time to call and i would make payment in the morning but this was rejected and I ended up reading my card details out on the phone. Will definitely not be revisiting and do not recommend anyone stays here.

Review 75：Noise pollution in the rooms can be dreadful, pillows are cheap and insufficient, free wifi is practically pointless in terms of speed/bandwidth. Hotel is poor value for money on the whole and booking conditions mean they block the value of your stay, on top of the room rate for a further 24hrs after you leave.

The staff were friendly and recommended places to go . The room was spacious and the bed was huge with 2 duvets. The bathroom was spotless with a large walk-in shower. Great place to stay.

Review 104：I was unable to connect to the wifi, ever, and was told at reception that it must be a problem with my phone. (I've never had a problem with connecting to wifi before anywhere.) Despite being extensively advertised, Wii or Playstation in the 'games room' was missing. Staff were disinterested, unhelpful, and one staff member was disdainful. The staff simply stood by and watched while we struggled to use the lift key cards for ages. When we entered the hotel it seemed to me more like a seedy nightclub that a hotel lobby. Despite having booked and paid for breakfast in advance, we were not on the breakfast list the following morning.

Review 106：Early Saturday morning fire alarm went off for no reason. It stopped for a half an hour and went off again and again. Thank you for manager- he treat us with a free lunch to compensate that.

Review 109：The fire alarm went off at 9.30 am and the hotel was evacuated. No explanation was given and the alarm continued to go off at intervals even after we had been permitted to return to our rooms. Had to give up trying to have a shower and left early. I was disappointed that at no time did anyone explain what was happening.

Review 118：Wifi signal is awful, really slow and pointless most of the time. Coffee in the room was practically all decaf, showing a poor attention to detail when restocking. Pillows were flat and the empty. Desk plug was European. Getting any kind of service to the room for food or an ironing board took on average an hour. Vending machine for water didn't work, ....

Review 131：The room wasn't in the high standards I expected. After moving the duvet the cover rode up and showed the discoloured duvet that made me feel a little uncomfortable to be sleeping under it. It was also two single duvets which wasn't a huge deal but would be nice to be able to share, and one robe, one bottle of water etc. the shower was lovely apart from the fact every minute of so the pressure would drop and the water would run scalding hot then go cold then back to normal.

Review 134：If you park in the controlled spaces across from the hotel which go from 8am-6pm, you aren't allowed to put money in the slot until after 8am in the morning...so you've got to time it perfectly to get a 2hr ticket on your car in the morning! Silly council.

Review 135：Cool place. Classy look and feel. Fabulous bed (great, big double that basically works as two singles as it comes with two single duvets, so you don't have to be so friendly with your friend!). Great position for Reading town centre
