Reviews for Hôtel La Galiote en Ré
Review 1:Clearly a family business with a very nice ambience. We left the island willing to come back, preferably with our bikes to explore the many trails available.
Review 2:the area is expensive so the hotel was our most expensive stop which is understandable however most expensive and most basic breakfast so if we stayed again we'd probably breakfast in the market,
Review 3:Close to harbour and village centre, attractively set out light airy hotel. comfortable room with good facilities. Area pretty, walking, cycling, market every morning. Really friendly, helpful people in the hotel and lots of fun shops in the village. The general area to me is perhaps a little twee - I prefer the more dramatic Brittany coast or the mountains of the Drome . Locale very clean and well maintained.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:The hotel manager was very friendly and informative. Outstandingly so. The location is great, a short walk to harbour. Make sure you visit the market, and if you're a coffee drinker visit the coffee van at the back of the market. The manager can give you the details, it was his recommendation that we went there
Review 6:It did not feel like a hotel more like a bed and breakfast, only communal area is reception. Continental breakfast varied very little but good quality and presentation. No reflection on hotel but 16 euro toll on bridge from mainland in high season was a shocker. British gripe, would like tea and coffee in rooms but tea is still mystery to the French.
Review 7:The style, decoration and quiet location but only 5 minutes walk to the harbour and centre of the small town. The owner Regis is very helpful and spoke excellent English. Whole island is cycling paradise, very flat and cycle tracks everywhere.
Review 8:There was nothing I disliked about this hotel.
Review 9:The hotel staff were very helpful and the owner made our last day very comfortable. Nothing was a problem.
Review 10:The room was a little small and cramped at times. The wardrobe was so close to the bed that the left hand door could not open fully. It might have been better positioned on another wall on the left as you come in the door.
Review 11:Lovely, clean and well presented room. Beautifully decorated and well equipped.
Review 12:No bad experiences in the hotel.
Review 13:The location was excellent for the port of La Flotte. The owner was wonderful, could not do enough to help with any situation that arose.
Review 14:Excellent location- not right in the centre but only a few minutes walk from the harbour and restaurants etc. Spotless hotel with very helpful staff and very good value.
Review 15:Beautiful place. Easy walk to the town and port with really good restaurants and friendly service. Great cycling, easy to cycle from town to town and really well sign posted.
Review 16:There are no restaurants locally, so a small refrigerator would be a distinct advantage.
Review 17:Generous accommodation. Air Conditioning that coped even with the high temperatures experienced in August 2015. Easy access to La Flotte, especially if cycling
Review 18:Hotel was nice but not top end.on arrival discovered I would have been cheaper just booking myself direct and not through Booking dot com .Nice hotel but probably not value for money.
Review 19:The wifi was terrible. One room had zero reception, and the service provider they have has an awful interface. We had to go to the waiting room (two chairs and a sofa) to check emails. As a family traveling with small children we found the place just not appropriate. The rooms are very small, there are no common areas except for a waiting room at the front desk. The front desk clerk was terse with our children horsing around in the tight quarters, and outright rude to an Englishman checking out who got an earful about EU politics along with his bill. Bottom line, for couples without children who don't need wifi, the place is really nice.
Review 20:Location of hotel in La Flotte is very nice, proximate to shopping and the port. The key is to rent your bikes and use those for transport around. Hotel was clean.
Review 21:Rooms have all basic amenities, but remain minimalistic. It is a nice place, extremely well managed, but hard to see the three stars ranking. May be justified by the island's limited accomodation offer.
Review 22:tastefully decorated rooms, within the spirit of the island; quiet location, easy access (by car or by bus) - within walking distance to the port; courteous and extremely helpful staff; cleanliness; fresh French breakfast.
Review 23:Very small room with tiny 'en suite' overlooking a back street. No public areas or garden where guests could sit and relax. Very expensive for such basic accommodation. Breakfast in the harbour with beautiful views much cheaper.
Review 24:Free parking, quiet welcoming air conditioning, 10 minute stroll to the centre.
Review 25:No negative comments.
Review 26:Very friendly and helpful Owners and staff- very good security and private parking. The establishment had basic but comfortable rooms with good quality fittings- quite sufficient for our needs. Breakfast continental style with lovely fresh fruit salad, natural yoghurt and assorted rolls, pastries and jams. We look forward to our next visit!
Review 27:The location is wonderful, just a short walk to the harbour and shops. The room was clean and light with the most comfortable bed. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious. We only ate there on our last day but wished we had done so more! We will definitely stay again if we visit La Flotte.
Review 28:We do recommend staying here while exploring the Ile de Re. Enjoy their breakfast on the terrace. The staff is very polite, professional and very helpful in any case.
Review 29:The lack of a kettle was a very small omission otherwise we had everything we needed.
Review 30:Great location, superb rooms, excellent to explore the beautiful island of Re.
Review 31:Nothing to criticise , but perhaps if it was a couple of hundred meters closer to the port/town centre it would be even better.
Review 32:Room was airy and sea themed Bed very comfortable Quiet location High quality service staff Separate buildings gave an impression of privacy
Review 33:perfect place to spend a few days on the island, nothing is too much trouble for the owner/manager(s). Relaxed yet efficient atmosphere, walking distance to harbour and all restaurants, but quiet and secluded..We have stayed twice and will again...why stay anywhere else?
Review 34:Peaceful location 5 mins stroll from port and centre of village. Good restaurants at reasonable prices. Easy to hire bikes and everyone cycles everywhere, very bike and pedestrian friendly boutique
Review 35:Looking out of bedroom window and seeing pile of sheets(?dirty) on table opposite, every day
Review 36:Lovely hotel - very accommodating and friendly. Local market fantastic. Beaches perfect. Everyone we met were really friendly and helpful
Review 37:There was nothing not to like! Truly beautiful
Review 38:Beautiful accommodation friendly staff in a lovely seaside port town! Very picturesque and a great breakfast to boot
Review 39:The only slight niggle was that the breakfast was pretty much the same every day: croissants, fruit with creme fruit, fruit juice and coffee. Being English, we would have preferred some savoury choices. I know we couldn't expect the full english, but some cheeses and hams would have been welcome. We would also have liked some outdoor space.
Review 40:The hotel is family owned and run and the owners and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent for access to the port and for touring the island.
Review 41:Great location, a few minutes' walk from the harbour up a pretty cobbled street. Clean, comfortable rooms with a contemporary look. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 42:Expensive for dogs 40 euros, and you always get the worst rooms although you pay more than others without dogs. Air con didn't work. Bar could be better no ice no lemon for gin and tonic
Review 43:Easily walking to la flotte. Friendly helpful owner. Breakfast basic but of good quality
Review 44:Comfortable, clean and well maintained. Secure car park. Easy walking distance of local facilities. Excellent breakfast and welcoming helpful owners/staff.
Review 45:The bedroom/bathroom was clean and bed made every day. The owners were very helpful and gave us useful information on our arrival. Breakfast was plentiful and satisfying.
Review 46:We found our ipad wouldn't connect in our 1st floor room 18.So Wifi was only available onground floor public area for us.
Review 47:The quiet location. Acess to village facilities and harbour restaurants. excellent organisation of security and private parking.
Review 48:The patron was so helpful in explaining restaurants etc. Lovely quiet setting, secure parking, lovely room and bathroom, Short walk to the port. Excellent breakfast, all fresh products served at our table. A first class hotel, would stay again.
Review 49:Locals not very hospitable especially if you dont speak French!
Review 50:Ill DeRe, St Martin , Laflotte. Lovely staff at La Galiote, good facilities , but room small with no windows.
Review 51:The room was spacious and comfortable and the bed was first-class. Breakfast was good and served in a very pleasant way. Parking for car and bikes was good ( an important consideration on Ile de re). All in all a very enjoyable stay. We hope to return.
Review 52:No window in the room we got to hot at nt
Review 53:Very helpful at all times Good location for all of Ile De Re. Secure parking for our bikes with large electric gates. Would have like a window in the room as even in Oct we got very warm at night. Would revisit again
Review 54:Everything was lovely - we could even leave our car in the car park after we checked out.
Review 55:We stayed at la Galiote at the end of September. The weather was beautiful, the town was not full with tourists and we were extremely well looked after both at the hotel and in La Flotte and St Martin in Re.
Review 56:Breakfast too expensive by comparison to others on our trip. Nowhere to sit outside with our room which was on the ground floor at the back of two storey block, road immediately to the rear which made the room a bit of a disappointment. No water or other forms of drink making facilities available in the room.
Review 57:Good location just a short walk to the Harbour of La Flotte with good variety of shops and Restaurants, superb market. Room was comfortable but basic. Reception on arrival very good, informative and helpful. Safe on site parking.
Review 58:Stay too short
Review 59:Lovely helpful owners. Excellent breakfast. Clean quiet, close to harbour and restaurants. Very comfortable room. Lovely touch was that shower head above bath was pointed to wall so the I was not accidentally soaked when changing from bath to shower.
Review 60:Plastic mattress protector on bed made me very hot and didn't sleep at all well for 5 nights. Breakfast not cheap but pleasant.
Review 61:Clean and freshly decorated room. Good shower. Fair wardrobe space. Excellent location.
Review 62:We stayed at La Galiote for a week and couldn't have found a better location with the exact amenities we needed. The rooms were impeccably maintained, the owners exceptionally helpful and friendly and the breakfasts were perfect. We loved the location and the proximity to the village and the bike paths. Perfect week in a perfect place!
Review 63:We stayed 4 nights in July, we will definitely go back, very relaxing.Regis was very helpful, he gave us good advice about places to visit, bike hire, and where to eat.We loved the breakfast each morning. The only thing I would like to say is thatLa Galiote is more a beautiful bed and breakfast and not a hotel
Review 64:A quiet, clean, comfortable and not too expensive option that is well located and accessible without car. Very nice and friendly young couple hosting the place. Excellent breakfast!
Review 65:I was unable to get the wi-fi connection in the part of the hotel we were in. Had to go closer to the reception to get the right connection. However not a real concern to me as didn't want to use it often.
Review 66:The rooms are very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. Situated in an ideal position. Quiet, yet just a short walk to the port.
Review 67:No mirrors on the walls in bedroom Wi fi connection poor in our room, but OK in reception/breakfast area
Review 68:Comfortable firm bed Powerful shower, if a little compact Friendly, helpful owners
Review 69:Struggled to find the hotel by car but that was more human error and a distrust in our sat. nav. than anything else. Perhaps Bar facilities early evening might be good. Otherwise near perfect.
Review 70:The manager/owner was very helpful and professional. We upgraded to a lovely room on the second floor of one 'block' as the standard room was a little small and dark being on the shady side of the building. Breakfast was very good and served on the sunny terrace was lovely. Restaurants being so close was ideal.
Review 71:The ile de Re is very expensive, so a comparable hotel on the mainland would be cheaper.
Review 72:The hosts were very attentive. The hotel was in a great position
Review 73:No tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
Review 74:Beautiful room spotlessly clean, bright and spacious. Set in a secure compound with gated access.
Review 75:Very good location. Hotel owner very helpful. Very clean room & hotel.
Review 76:It has a warm friendly atmosphere and the accommodation is of a good standard in a fairly central location.
Review 77:Excellent authentic French Hotel. Great breakfast. Most welcoming and informative management.
Review 78:nothing
Review 79:comfortable room, 10 meters to the parking car, table and chairs outside in the courtyard
Review 80:Friendly and helpful staff that provided a delicious breakfast and kept rooms very clean.
Review 81:Their total absense of flexibility or agreability Rather comfortable than charming

Review 103:Lovely staff and very quiet location great for visiting the town.
Review 104:The host was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. It was off-season...so lots of things closed. However, the ara seems very nice.
