Reviews for The Mill Hotel
Review 1:Could have done with a blanket especially as the duvet was just covering the bed! Would have been fine in the summer. Still believe there is something wrong with the radiator as the other room on the other side of the corridor was very hot!! Shower room could have done with a hook on the door and a stool/ chair to put clothing on. Maybe the male clients don't need this. Is the shower base going to be replaced soon?
Review 2:Very helpful member of staff/ owner especially as everyone was arriving at the same time and late! Thank you.
Review 3:Shared bathroom
Review 4:So helpful always clean tidy.even let me use there garage when I had a problem with my car. Location great as so close to town without it being to rowdy
Review 5:This hotel advertised as bed and breakfast.sadly when I asked what time breakfast was,I was told they did not do breakfast.I was charged for this and I feel that the price should have been amended.i would not stay here again or recommend.
Review 6:Not a lot
Review 7:This is a basic accommodation and once you have accepted that then you'll appreciate it. It's clean and the owners are so wonderful and friendly. A shared bathroom is never ideal but this one is well kempt. It's very close to the shop.
Review 8:The shared toilet facilities are very cramped and there is no sink so it is necessary to use the bathrooms. I had to put my kettle on the floor to plug it in because of the short cable. A nearby building had loud music into the early hours.
Review 9:It is ideal for access to the town centre and it is next to a multi-storey car park. Pleasant room.
Review 10:Same as above
Review 11:The TV didn't work the taps were running all nigh Couldn’t turn them of the generator was very noisy outside the bedroom we struggled to get through the room door because it didn't open far enough because bed in the way in the morning couldn't make a cup of tea because the kettle was broken so had to walk 15 mins into town to get a hot drink
Review 12:No WIFI and really loud at night over the weekend with possibly a nightclub nearby the noise was very loud until 3am.
Review 13:So close to the city centre a 2 minute walk. The publican was absolutely lovely and so helpful.
Review 14:Not the hotels fault but I had little sleep both nights due to rowdy contractors kept up till early hours both nights and no one around to sort it out
Review 15:Handy location good value
Review 16:The people in the next room were very very noisy all night and well into the morning (until around 6 a.m.) on three of the four nights I stayed and very difficult to sleep.
Review 17:The convenience for the function I was attending could not have been better
Review 18:no hotel parking. no ensuite toilet and shower. the shower floor was very untidy when I uised it. pillow very a bit uncomfy as didn't support the neck very well. the room was tidy for the price.
Review 19:It was close to Bedford hospital and I went there to attend a conference at the hospital. there was a a labanese restaurant walking distance from the place with good food. The staff at the place were very friendly and helpful
Review 20:We had room 3. This smells of years-old stale tobacco smoke. The room is ugly and cramped, not much room around the double bed. The bed was quite uncomfortable. The room is so basic I can't believe they charge 55 pounds for it. Tea bags and coffee but no milk. Staff not asking if we were ok or for any feedback. Loos were tiny and a long way from the room. I can't imagine anyone thinking this was an OK room for the price.
Review 21:This is a very convenient location for central Bedford
Review 22:The room was dirty with splash marks all up the walls. It smelt of smokers as did the corridors. The bed was uncomfortable. Pillows were flat and thin. The noise was horrendous. Whilst it's away from the Main Street the club bets use the street as a route to car park and were fighting and shouting outside until about 4:30am every night of our stay.
Review 23:the owners were polite and friendly. Very helpful when I left something behind.
Review 24:I found no faults with hotel.
Review 25:Clean, cheap, location. Staff was very helpful, regarding Storage of bicycle & he also got early so that I could leave early for my next stage of my sponsored cycle.
Review 26:Street noise can be annoying as the windows are single glazed.
Review 27:Excellent value for money, well located, so everywhere in the town centre is within easy walking distance. staff pleasant and helpful.
Review 28:i didn't like sharing bathrooms
Review 29:This was perfect location . But my room was right on the busy street and didn't get much sleep. It was booked as a b&b but there was no breakfast and I was looked at like an alien when I asked for a coffee as I arrived. Shared barrio facilities , this place was more like a posh hostel.
Review 30:Needed somewhere to sleep for one night while passing through. This was perfectly adequate. Owner friendly and helpful, room had everything I needed and was perfectly clean. Bathroom facilities clean
Review 31:I slept there before, but I forgot how noisy it is during the night. The pub at the ground floor played loud music even after midnight. The walls of the room are not insulated at all and I could here the guy staying in the next door room chatting and laughing at the phone at 2 am.
Review 32:Staff was nice when I checked in at the pub.
Review 33:If the pub served food it would be great and the decor wasn't very wow however, it was very clean. It's no luxury but it's a nice place to stay if you just need somewhere clean and welcoming to stay.
Review 34:I like the staff they were very lovely and friendly! The staff made you feel very welcome and the pub was very popular a lot of the locals came to have their usual and are were just as friendly.
Review 35:I forgot my keys inside room at 7:30 am and there was no one on reception until 9am to help me out... I had to wait standing in lobby... All street noise comes to room.. I will nt recommend...
Review 36:Nothing
Review 37:No reception. The bar was used as the reception. The bar was horrible. Decor was drab. The rooms and hallway were tiny. This type of accomodation should be closed down. The hotel was very noisy.
Review 38:The Mill Hotel should not be advertised on a website.
Review 39:booking was made for three nights, But I could only stay 2 nights. No room available for 3rd night. really bud service and total lack of profesionality.
Review 40:nothing
Review 41:Hardly got any sleep as there was doors banging constantly throughout the night. Could also here the cars and people going past.
Review 42:Price of the room was cheap
Review 43:The walls are thin and when a neighbouring room uses the water tap, there is a sound like a thunderstorm in the room. That means you can only sleep until your neighbours use the sink.
Review 44:Staff was very accommodating. The room was clean and the location good.
Review 45:The owner is very helpfull the location is very good for my business trip the only problem was not having an on suit but the shower rooms was very good and clean
Review 46:I didn't like that there was no heating. Considering you had to share a bathroom. Not warm enough to undress. Owner not very welcoming.
Review 47:The location.
Review 48:Never ever stay in a hotel/room above a pub, didn't sleep well whilst the pub was still open. Didn't like the lack of secure parking.
Review 49:Nothing.....
Review 50:The only con is the shared bathroom but it is definitely expected for the price.
Review 51:Near city centre and somewhat close to railway station/bus stations. Clean, with tea/coffie utilities and towels in the room. Very good value for the money.
Review 52:Wifi only worked if you sat on the end of the bed. Very basic accommodation and a bit claustrophobic. The owner did not turn the heat on til 6pm so it was very cold for a while.
Review 53:The Irish pub owner was affable.
Review 54:very sad wifi... nothing was there... no signal
Review 55:hospitality of the lady staff who was in the night was incredible.. she has very polite and excellent manners.
Review 56:The room was to tight, I could barely move around. The bed was too small that any wrong move you'll find yourself on the floor. Blanket was too small that it could barely cover my body. I doubt if this could cover a plus size body. Heater was turned off in the night when it's most needed. I stayed here to attend a training. There was no space for me in the room to study because the table was too small to carry my books and laptop. If the purpose of staying at the hotel is to sleep and wake-up, it's ok. I stayed on the last floor: I had to go through a staircase to use the bathroom and toilet. You may not be able to sleep again after using the toilet because using the staircase is an exercise. If your plan is to do some work in your room, try somewhere else.
Review 57:The hotel was very clean inside compared to outside. The staffers were friendly. The location is very good: walkable distance from town center and bus terminal.
Review 58:The heating was insufficient for the December weather conditions
Review 59:Clean, in a great location, comfortable room and bathroom facilities, fast wireless Internet
Review 60:I needed to stop over in Bedford for a night and this was ideal. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. shower and toilets just down the hallway were good. Only a short walk from the bus station and the High Street with a range of pubs and other places to eat.
Review 61:The hotel is very central for Bedford town centre , comfortable and very welcoming staff. Will definitely use again, what with drinking and driving a no no ..
Review 62:The bar area and link corridors were very tired and floors not very clean. Glad that I was not staying there with my wife. Bar full of regular customers who liked a pint. Breakfast not available.
Review 63:The rooms were clean and basic. The location of the Hotel is excellent just off the main street. If you want cheap and clean accommodation to get your head down - fine.
Review 64:Duvet is too small. Desk and chair is not proportional. Windows cannot be closed. Cold during night. Noise close to the road. TV is too high close the ceiling and small. Bathroom, water is too small and hard to adjust to proper temperture. Loud in the morning around 4am. Poor sleep.
Review 65:Some areas were desperately in need of the refurbishment, being carried out, but not yet done, although every effort was made to minimise the works impact on guests.
Review 66:Very close to the center of town, even closer to the party venue. Staff were helpful and friendly. The refurbished areas were decorated well. Cleaning was very thorough in all areas.
Review 67:Carpeting throughout hotel area was grubby. Lack of en-suite facilities. No availability of breakfast.
Review 68:Friendly staff. Clean comfortable bed. Abundant hot water. Plenty of tea/coffee available in room.
Review 69:Free tea and coffee in room and television. Nice and quiet at the back of the hotel. If I had to stay in Bedford again I'd stay in this hotel as its a good price.
Review 70:Moquette is always a problem for me because of some allergies but thisis a cultural issue in uk, so nothing to do with the Mill Hotel.
Review 71:We were searching a quite and cheap place were go to sleep during oursearch for a new house, it was brilliant. We needed help, the staff started helping us without complains. Bathroom aren't private but we already knew it and further they were really cleaned.
Review 72:Unfortunately I wasn't at all pleased with shared facilities or cleanliness. Nothing was up to standards!
Review 73:I did like the greetings by the landlord? Who was helpful and had a good manner of speaking.
Review 74:Excessive sewage odours coming into our room via poor toilet venting just below bedroom window. Accommodation/guest could do with a good refresh.
Review 75:Convenient location, easdy to find
Review 76:A bit noisy during the night, because it's close to some pubs and clubs.
Review 77:Good location, basic but good value for money. The room and the shared bathroom were clean. Staff was very nice.
Review 78:- Located above a pub so the noise created outside by drinkers was extremely hard to sleep through - Shared bathrooms wasn't a problem as I used them at 5am, but at a busier time I imagine it would be a little awkward.
Review 79:- Extremely spacious room. - Had a nice homely feel. - Staff were extremely friendly and explained everything I needed to know in a kind manner.
Review 80:The room itself was fine, but the corridor and stairs were shabby. A new corridor carpet would help considerably.
Review 81:You got exactly what was advertised, a comfortable bed, a wash basin, and a shared toilet and bathroom (2, so competition was not a problem)
Review 82:dingy carpets very stained and grubby needs serious updating. noisy location sorry if you need a good night's sleep don't go here it's thesort of place you could imagine the ladies of the night
Review 83:There wasn't much too like.
Review 84:I had a very late night out and got woken up at 6.30 in the morning by the people in the next room and their tv
Review 85:I had a very nice greeting by the landlord, who then told a very nice and beautiful green haired barmaid to show me to my room. If I wasn't on a date that night, I definitely would of asked her out. The room was perfect for an overnight stay.
Review 86:You have to share a toilet and a bathroom, and it says they offer breakfast but they don't. Also my room didnt smell too pleasant.. but for the price its average.
Review 87:I liked that the bed was comfortable and the pricing is decent.
Review 88:Nothing, except the tv in the room was to high up
Review 89:Cheap, comfy and great location!
Review 90:Hotel was situated in a prime location and met all of my requirements. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant
Review 91:Poor quality facilities. No Wi-Fi working. Bad trade-off quality-money.

Review 93:The showers separate to the rooms with lots of men around :(
Review 94:Staff were lovely. And it was a comfy bed!
Review 95:The staff are welcoming , the beds are really comfy and smelled so clean it was lovely lol
Review 96:Room not cleaned after last guest. Wet dirty towel. Empty beer bottle by the washbasin. Bed unmade.
Review 97:Very good location & very helpful landlord
Review 98:Toilets and shower aren't ob suite
Review 99:You get a better place to stay at a travel lodge...

Review 121:Very close to town
Review 122:The landlord was very helpful and pleasant, there was no parking facilities but he let us use his garage to park the motorbike.
Review 123:Very good value for money
Review 124:Poor shared facilities. Noisiest place I've stayed in UK. Summed up by word 'basic'.
Review 125:Leaving
Review 126:Overall good!
Review 127:Owners were amazing people!
