Reviews for Best Western Le Cheval Blanc
Review 1:Dirty room, no siting furnature in the room which was supposed te be superior room kosting 135 euros a night not including my 2 pets costing 12 euros each!
Review 2:My wife nearly had a life changing experience slipping on shower gel and fallout of the bath / shower and is lucky to be alive. She fell heavily onto tlingit floor just missing toilet bowl and base unit of hand basin. Insufficient grab rail and rubber matting on bottom of bath. 5 weeks later she still has a massive haemotoma and needs further medical assistance every week for the foreseeable future!
Review 3:Great location and clean and comfortable double room
Review 4:the hotel hallway and rooms are very dated and not at all like the image in the bookings.com website. We Won't book a Best western again as this is the 2nd time I have been disappointed by the room. Small window, ripped curtains, a toilet which makes constant noise and old duvet and pillows. Absolute rubbish for the money!
Review 5:The location and the town. The reception area is very modern but that's where it stops
Review 6:We stayed for one night on our way through Normandy The Hotel was delightful comfortable and our room overlooked the Harbour a great view, we had a great time in Honfleur and certainly would revisit and stay at La Cheval Blanc, Staff were very helpful room very clean and comfortable with a very good Breakfast in a delightful room over looking the Harbour, as there is no restaurant in the Hotel ,so you can go out into the town and choose one of the 150 or so restaurants
Review 7:Road noise at night if room at front of hotel. If room at back of hotel you loose the wonderful view - so why stay here? Lack of on-site parking can be a nuisance
Review 8:Mylene at reception - excellent in every way from pre-stay communications to assistance while at the hotel. View from rooms at front of hotel. Immediately adjacent to the beautiful inner harbour and old Honfleur's many restaurants.
Review 9:We had a first floor room and stayed for 4 nights. First night the creaking floorboards above woke us at 2.50am, second night at 4am and third night at 5.30am. Fourth night lucky and went through to 7am but 3 bad nights sleep. Not the fault of the folk above. Just terribly noisy floorboards. Spoke to the staff after night 2 but they couldn't move us. Again, not their fault. Make sure you stay on level 3.
Review 10:The great location, very helpful staff.
Review 11:Having stayed in this hotel in 2000 we knew it's location and convenience to explore the town. The car parking was a little indifferent being an eighth of a mile away but a fascinating walk thru' the narrow streets!
Review 12:The towels were terrible, small and threadbare, one even had a hole in it. The breakfast was good for the children as they had cereal and milk which was a nice change for them, however as an adult I found it very average.
Review 13:The location was great and the room was large.
Review 14:No place to park to unload luggage. There was an extra bed in the room for two which left no room for luggage placement and made it slightly crowded.
Review 15:Location, great staff. Good bathroom.
Review 16:The road outside the hotel is extremely busy, so there is no chance of stopping outside the hotel entrance in order to offload cases, as we had been informed beforehand. Drunken kitchen staff from some other establishment kept us awake half the night because the room was stuffy with the window closed. First and last visit to Honfleur. Pretty harbour but otherwise horrible, overrated and over crowded.
Review 17:The picturesque location is excellent and of course it is right next to the Honfleur Harbour - which is what (thousands of!) people go there to see and experience.
Review 18:No teabags with tea/coffee supplies, not enough milk provided. Room very small but functional. All looked a bit faded. Breakfast 13€ per person. We had coffee and croissant for two at the cafe next door for 11€.
Review 19:Great location, near restaurants and harbour. Room was tiny but had reasonable view of entrance to harbour. Bed comfort ok, pillows ok, as you expect from budget hotel.
Review 20:we had a noise in our room, due to the plumbing, which was hard to ignore. the traffic noise during the night was also hard to ignore... but is forgivable as the position of the hotel would mean traffic passes.
Review 21:room with a perfect view and the hotel in the best spot in town
Review 22:The drive to the secure parking was terrifying and the drive down was just as scary! Great to have a place to lock up the car though. It was a very hot night so we had to sleep with the window open and it was very noisy, but then it is in the centre of town. The curtains in our room were ripped and didn't open or close properly and the breakfast was not good value for money at €13.
Review 23:Fantastic location in the centre of town. Amazing views of the harbour and very central to all the shops and restaurants. The room was lovely but perhaps not quite big enough for three.
Review 24:Lack of bike storage and private parking. The parking was full and we had to totally unpack our car for just one night. Also, there was no AC which made the room very hot.
Review 25:The location was brilliant, right in the heart of the town. Lovely views.
Review 26:No air conditioning so difficult to sleep with window open and noise from outside when it is hot. Hotel car park a good 5 minute up hill walk.
Review 27:The location was excellent.
Review 28:Firstly we had asked 2 members of staff if we were parked in the local car park in a disabled bay did we need to pay and after being told yes and paying €20 we were then told no payment was required. Also on leaving a third floor high level window in corridor was left open and my husband cut his head when it blew back , spoke to reception and they told us to go to the pharmacy and we left.
Review 29:Very convenient location and comfortable room.
Review 30:Nothing bad to say...loved both our stays here
Review 31:The most wonderful location on the harbourside, really helpful and friendly staff, very clean throughout, and a host of restaurants only a minute away
Review 32:There is no drop off parking outside the hotel (Hotel car park is 0.5 mile away) and so having parked illegally to drop off the family and the luggage, it was frustrating to have to wait for the receptionist to finish a phone call which took over 5 minutes, but felt like 10! During which she never even acknowledged us whilst we were stood there or apologised for the delay!
Review 33:Location. View.
Review 34:We requested a double or two good sized single beds. We were given 2small singles making approx. 1 queen sized bed. The mattress wasoverhanging the base and all in all very uncomfortable. The next morningwith the help of a chamber maid who verified that the room next door buttwo did have a king bed......we swapped. The male receptionist, when Iasked to be swapped said 'no' and we did have a superior roomwith King bed....I Think the chamber maid convinced him otherwise!!!!.We lost a nights sleep because of these beds and room size but wecompensated by not charging us for one days breakfast. &Quot; but onlyone day" the young male receptionist ....... I was affronted bythis as we were not expecting anything other than maybe anacknowledgement of we knew what we were talking about on the roomstandard and bed size.
Review 35:The breakfast was good and it was not too far from the public car partk.
Review 36:Very noisy room - some sort of engine noise ongoing in the delux room (my mother switched off her hearing aid to compensate!). Outside noise made it difficult to open window. Very small reception area with limited seating.
Review 37:Excellent position overlooking part of the harbour
Review 38:There was a constant smell like exhaust from kitchens or similar. No fan or ventilation in bathroom/toilet which also had a full length (not very) obscure glass door to bedroom! - No a/c therefore window needed to be open all night and area is very noisy near busy, cobbled street and early hours glass & rubbish collection & delivery trucks etc. Narrow road makes it difficult to stop near hotel to load/unload car etc.
Review 39:View from rooms is top rate and central location means only very short walk to all restaurants and shops etc. Car parking is not a problem 200yds from hotel @€2/hr but machine gives deal of €10 for any 24h period.
Review 40:We were a big group and the first day would have been easier if we had been able to check in earlier. Reception staff were inflexible about the 3 pm check-in time which seemed very late.
Review 41:location of hotel
Review 42:The hotel car park is not convenient and didn't like having to drive round town to return car park keys at end of our visit. Should be a drop box. A superior room with no air conditioning is not acceptable. No toiletry products apart from soap is poor. Refreshment tray also poor. We had to ask for tea bags and milk. All above is normally provided in hotels these days.
Review 43:The location of hotel and staff were excellent.
Review 44:We had 2 rooms - a jr suite and a triple. The decor of the jr suite was very dated and the bed was uncomfortable.
Review 45:Desk staff were very helpful. Location is fantastic. Very good breakfast
Review 46:Shower was design over function, but ok. Wifi very hit & miss. No air con.
Review 47:Location is brilliant, parking for free within along distance, English soeskjng staff, comfy bed. Staff very helpful. Lovely view
Review 48:rather indifferent service from staff, noisy room beside busy road and no air conditioning, power cuts at night but no explanation or apology and breakfasts were very poor
Review 49:We loved the location, comfort, and the staff were helpful! When we needed something we received it right away. It's clean and the view of the harbor was lovely.
Review 50:A bit awkward to unload suitcases, as the hotel is very central and the road is narrow. However, there is a public car park nearby.
Review 51:The central location.
Review 52:Parking close to hotel is an issue, both for baggage drop off and parking. Parking is available in adjacent Council car park and is free after 7pm until 9am Council car but pay rates apply during day and are quickly policed after 9am! Hotel has some free parking available but is some distance away.
Review 53:Well located on harbour front and close to shops & restaurants. Hotel staff very helpful, comfortable room, generous breakfast.
Review 54:The room was classed as a premier deluxe room. It was very small with very little shelf space in the bedroom and bathroom. I dead to think what the standard room size was like.
Review 55:Location
Review 56:Car parking is a premium here, we chose the secure parking that the hotel offered for €12. Would not have wanted a large car, nearly scraped the mirrors in the narrow streets just getting to and from the car park.
Review 57:The location to town, just a few short steps and we were in the midst of the marina and restaurant area and the old town. Very picturesque.
Review 58:Wifi was no good at room. But wasnt so important for us. Just buy Wifi repeater and its Top. :)
Review 59:All. The Location, character of the Hotel and Parking for my car. Honfleuer is a nice little town. Gr8 place to be.
Review 60:Directions for hotel parking (located away from hotel) were a bit confusing. Ended up parking in nearby public car park which was much easier than navigating narrow streets. Only stayed one night on our way back to Calais so did not really bother us.
Review 61:Great location right on the water. Triple share had single bed rather than pull out sofa or rollaway bed. Perfect for adult son traveling with us.
Review 62:The location, the room was quiet and offered a nice view on the port. Easy parking facilities. A lovely hotel I would be glad to recommend to friends visiting Honfleur
Review 63:Mean spirited - 1/2 a pencil in the room, 4 only pages in notebook, no shampoo, cramped room - small as a double but as a 3 bed an insult.
Review 64:Location Staff
Review 65:Size of the room was very small. Didn't like the see through bathroom door. Leaking shower so water all over the floor.
Review 66:The location and the helpfulness of the staff.
Review 67:We liked the location, the private parking, the helpful staff, the clean and pleasant room. The property is older but comfortable, we have no complaints at all!
Review 68:Bathroom fittings seemed a bit tired, but were clean and well maintained.
Review 69:Location was excellent. Beautiful views from the hotel. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Breakfasts were good. Rooms were comfortable. Good range of amanities available.
Review 70:Drainage in bathroom was poor - needs a mop or a shower curtain Flies in breakfast room
Review 71:Room size Location of hotel Views Organisation re. parking Helpful staff
Review 72:Room was extremely small, couldn't open windows because of noise and mosquitoes. Breakfast was expensive for what was offer and unfriendly attendant!!
Review 73:The location and some of the staff.
Review 74:The hotel car park (which you pay extra for) is nearly a mile away and up a very steep, very narrow road. Accessibility poor. Town car parks are good and closer.
Review 75:Location: overlooking the harbour; centre of town Breakfast - great Room - good
Review 76:Tea & coffee supplies rather limited. No ordinary tea, just herbal. Only 2 coffee sachets. Plumbing noisy when other guests either flush toilet or run water for shower or basin.
Review 77:24 hr reception. Good public parking nearby (free from 8pm to noon next day) so only need to pay up to 8pm. Good harbour view.
Review 78:parking is not really an issue there is a public car park nearby which is cheap, may be busy in high season
Review 79:right in middle of honfleur by the harbour part...... so much choice for food- beautiful
Review 80:Rooms were on the small side. Staff were required to obtain everything - such as ice although there is a drink machine in the lobby.
Review 81:Loved the location. The building was over 500 years old - previously a post office. Staff were courteous and Tatiana in particular was a sweetheart. We had many email correspondences. Many restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. But the view of the harbour from the bedroom window was spectacular.
Review 82:Nearest free parking was about 7-10 minutes walk. The hotel has some private parking spaces but the fees are too high. In the bathrrom they have put only one big towel and a small one. considering we have booked a double room, this shouldn't be acceptable for this types of hotels
Review 83:The best of the hotel is the locations. It is right in the heart of the city and t he room that we had was with a wonderful view towards the port. Staff was helpful and kind
Review 84:Nothing
Review 85:Excellent location, overlooking the harbour and yacht basin, very close to large public car park and gardens, and 2 minutes stroll to the restaurants and bars around the old basin. Our room, on the third floor had superb views out over the harbour
Review 86:Room was cramped. With window closed to prevent traffic noise, it became a bit stuffy
Review 87:Great location overlooking harbour and right near restaurants. Car park a reasonable price, but 10 minute walk away
Review 88:Love,love,loved this hotel great bathroom with large shower. The room was very large with a beautiful view to the harbor and park. So central everything was in walking district. Such a beautiful little town!
Review 89:Parking was expensive and very far away. Room was small No air conditioning Expensive for what you got compared to other hotels in France
Review 90:Staff was helpful Clean
Review 91:Hotel is expensive for 3 stars. First "superior" room we were given was tiny with a bathroom in a cupboard. After complaining we were given a much more spacious room with good size bathroom. Hard mattress and lumpy pillows. Nowhere to sit other than bed. Public areas rather tired and a bit grubby. Lift is scary!
Review 92:View of harbour from our room(for which we paid extra). Excellent location in centre of town near many restaurants. Stylish decoration in bedroom and bathroom. Good wifi signal and good breakfast.
Review 93:Hotel Secure parking off site, 500m away, is a nightmare to find if the streets are closed, which often happens. However, a hotel staff drive her own car to show me the way and could not have been more helpful and friendly.
Review 94:The best location in Honfleur, only 50m from Vieux Basin. Staff very helpful and friendly especially when trying to give directions to their private secure parking. Don't take breakfast at an expensive 13 euros, go to the Vieux Basin and have breakfast for 7 euros overlooking the harbour.
Review 95:No wifi connection in the room - had to go out into the corridor. The hot tub in the bathroom worked ok as a bath, but there was fitting to hold the shower-head in place and while we were there the button to switch the water to the shower broke off altogether.
Review 96:The hotel is right in the centre of Honfleur and the rooms look over the port and the Pont de Normandie. Very pleasant and comfortable place to stay.
Review 97:The safe, I feel, should have been secured. If someone had broken in they could have walked off with it!!
Review 98:Honfleur is an amazing place and the Best Western Le Cheval Blanc is in a fantasic location. We had room 328 overlooking the harbour. The room was fairly small but well equipt and clean. The bed was comfortable and amazingly it wasn't noisey even with the windows open at night.
Review 99:There was a lot of noise from the bar down the street. Unfortunately, we had to close the windows so we didn't get to enjoy the wonderful breeze from the harbor.
Review 100:Wonderful view of the harbor
Review 101:Sorry, I'm English so would have liked an ordinary tea option with the in room kettle. Very small quibble!
Review 102:Good location and room with a view. Would recommend as a place to stay in Hornfleur.
Review 103:Room and bathroom quite small but adequate - no airconditioning
Review 104:Comfortable hotel in excellent location in Honfleur. Great view from bedroom window overlooking harbour. Hotel is so near everything but still surprisingly quiet at night. Secure parking available but at quite a distancefrom hotel - quite difficult drive to through the busy narrow streets but you can park briefly on pavement outside hotel to offload baggage first. Staff extremely helpful
Review 105:No bar lounge. Too hot in the night. No air con. Must be very hot in summer.
Review 106:The hotel is in a great area. Easy to access all parts of the town and even though on the main road, quiet at night.
Review 107:Been over charged.
Review 108:Not a lot at 284.20 euros, bank statement as arrived 128.00 euro is the price we was told plus breakfast, we have been charged a extra 156 20 euro?? (Why )
Review 109:The bathroom all in one was kind of messy with the shower being open in the bathroom, water got everywhere. The extra space were my 15 year old slep was more like a closet without ventilation than a room, for his comfort, it would have been better to have another bed in the main bedroom space.
Review 110:The location The view
Review 111:The steam room which was meant to be useable from 8am until 9pm only gotreally hot towards the evening which was a shame as I would have likedto have used it in the morning.Breakfast was a bit pricey at 13 euros so we only had breakfast 3 out of the 6 days.
Review 112:Staff were brilliant, spoke fluent English which was really helpful asour party could not speak much French. The staff were also incrediblyhelpful in recommending eating places and things to do whilst inHonfleur. The staff were also very responsive when there were a coupleof things that needed sorting out. Hotel was spotlessly clean and bedswere really comfortable. Location was superb, lovely views of Honfleurharbour and easy access to restaurants which was essential for us as oneof our party had poor mobility. I would really recommend this hotel andwill definitely stay in it again.
Review 113:My husband and I stayed with our children ages 11 and 8 in the Suite Alphonse Allais. It was very large and very comfortable. Our balcony had a beautiful view of Honfleur! The breakfast was excellent and had such a variety of choices that everyone in the family was happy.
Review 114:No toiletries provided in room only two herbal teabags and two coffee sachets for tea and coffee in room no normal tea. Very small and old towels in bathroom Dirt ejected from jets in jacuzzi tub!! Room was very small Breakfast was very expensive for what offered. damp patches with on walls of bedroom and damp patches on ceiling in bathroom. Very expensive for a poor 3 star hotel. refused to take our Best Western club card Have stayed in much better Best Westerns. only great point was the position of hotel
Review 115:Position and view staff very helpful
Review 116:A bit noisy as it is in a main road in town, but that also made it very convenient. Hotel didn't have enough parking, so we parked in nearby park. Not a big deal at all.
Review 117:Close to the centre, very nice room and great service. Internet was great.
Review 118:Long walk up steep cobbled streets to the private secure car park - unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. Difficult to find anywhere close by to briefly stop car to load/unload.
Review 119:Position on the harbour front. Good buffet breakfast.
Review 120:Loud music right under the room until 2300; no air conditioning; "suite" was one room and might be better marketed as a large family room.
Review 121:Great location; Jacuzzi much loved by kids; friendly staff
Review 122:the bathroom was large however the access was a thin glass sliding door which got stuck and the 'wet-room' arrangement was impracticle as everything got wet and there was no wiper or mop to cleanup with.
Review 123:the room was very generous with a view over the harbour and a large comfortable bed.
Review 124:We enjoyed our time in Honfleur and loved the location of the hotel. Everything was in walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room had lovely views. The bathroom was large and the beds comfortable.
Review 125:Breakfast poor, nothing freshly cooked, poor value. Room very small for price no shampoo etc in bathroom, no shelves to put personal items on, needs a bigger mirror or second one in room.
Review 126:Location good lighting in room for reading
Review 127:Honfleur is a great place to visit hotel is ideally situated right by the harbour, with a wide variety of restaurants and places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere of the town.
Review 128:We loved it all!
Review 129:We arrived at 3:00 am. The man who checked us in was absolutely excellent. He was so very nice and accommodating. He also served us breakfast in our room one morning and again extremely nice. I wish I knew his name. Everyone was nice. Our room was great for three people.
Review 130:The staff in the breakfast room never smiled. The single sheet pieces of toilet paper
Review 131:The size of the room for a family 4. Large bathroom Delicious breakfast Good location
Review 132:Hotel car park 20 minute walk away. Already booked so would have been charged if didn't use it!
Review 133:Perfect location. Right on Quay, park to exercise our dog . Hotel parking rediculouusly far away -10 minute walk!Better to park in public car park almost opposite hotel.
Review 134:Shower was clogged and didn't drain due to hair! Was not cleaned out properly from previous use. That was very gross, even more so because shower was disable accessible which meant no barriers in bathroom and toilet - so one large room and the whole room got wet and didn't drain. The hotel did unclog the drain after we told them.
Review 135:Family room had bunk beds for kids. Great location and amazing view of the harbor.
Review 136:for a superior room very cramped.bit different to the photos of a superior double room. small bed and only room for one bedside table as the room wasn't wide enough to fit table one side.went to use the safe but couldn't as it wasn't attached to the wall therefore anybody could just walk away with the whole item. Extractor fan in bathroom not working. Kettle not working and very poor supply of tea bags milk, etc. Walk to private car park much more than the 10mins we were told.more like 20mins.
Review 137:location was excellent
Review 138:Wifi very sporadic in our bedroom (109), probably due to the fact that it was at the end of a long corridor and the furthest from the lobby.
Review 139:Hotel in great location in Honfleur. Very central but still in a quiet spot facing the harbor. Big room, adequate bathroom with shower. You could make coffee and tea in the room. Did not try their breakfast, we preferred to buy a baguette from the bakery and some cheese and fix our own.
