Reviews for Woodland Manor Hotel

Review 1:Floor tiles in the bathroom were broken and uneven.

Review 2:friendly and efficient staff who dealt with an issue very promptly and effectively. Free parking and wi-fi although reception in the room was poor.

Review 3:Room was too small, boiling hot until the radiator was switched off. Shower was a mixer tap with no pressure. Breakfast was very disappointing considering how much it cost.

Review 4:Room was clean and bed was comfortable.

Review 5:Bracket holding shower was not secure radiator was leaking water TV was to small for distance to viewing, only enough milk for 1 cup of tea & not good directions inside to come in or out to room

Review 6:nice & Quiet bed quilt was very nice

Review 7:Minor gripe, heating in the room not easily controlled, it was so hot! Night two, the team had it sorted out.

Review 8:Lovely, lovely staff. Could not be more helpful . Super clean.

Review 9:Stopped serving food at 8pm because of private function which was very noisy and took over all areas of the hotel so there was nowhere quiet to sit and relax.

Review 10:Clean room with comfy bed and nice bathroom . Nice staff. Did an early breakfast for my husband as we had to leave early which was much appreciated.

Review 11:Some of the rooms are a little "unusual" in décor (brown bathroom suite in one in The Cottage) but all of the rooms I have stayed in have not had very good showers.

Review 12:Friendly staff and the food is good

Review 13:One or two of the staff were officious. When we came down to breakfast we wanted to join our family who were also staying over. Despite there being no reason to refuse us they would not sort a larger table out. And when I came to pay the information I had been given the day before was refuted.

Review 14:Initially staff very helpful and accommodating.

Review 15:None to speak of but we were only there from 10pm to 10am so difficult to judge.

Review 16:VERY large room. Nice homely feel to the hotel. At 6am we needed milk for our child and the man on reception kindly obliged and got it from the kitchen.

Review 17:I booked aa business room for the specific reason to have a bigger bed and was given a room with a single bed and a double bed.. We were 2 people not 3 ..I felt this was unacceptable

Review 18:Have stayed here a few times and basically enjoy our stay

Review 19:Breakfast charge was £12 for all you can eat. Some of us would like a continental breakfast option as £12 is too much for a smaller breakfast. Chains like Premier Inn now offer such options- maybe worth exploring?

Review 20:Good size comfortable room with all necessary facilities

Review 21:Nothing bad to report!

Review 22:Really enjoyed the layout of the room and the welcoming attitude of the staff upon arrival. Breakfast was great and the staff were brilliant.

Review 23:My bed was very uncomfortable. The internet didn't reach the far end of the hotel, where my room was located. Breakfast was miserly for the amount charged.

Review 24:I liked the premise and the grounds of the hotel. The hotel itself is nice and has a cozy feeling to it.

Review 25:Upon arriving at 11 am the receptionist was extremely rude and obviously had never heard of the saying the customer is always right never explained andything properly even though I had asked

Review 26:The room itself and the surroundings were beautiful

Review 27:as you have to pay for breakfast on top of your room price i feel this is expensive at ten pounds each, as i only have a small breakfast i may not choose to have breakfast here in the future due to the cost.

Review 28:i love the hotel it is beautiful and the rooms are very well decorated and comfortable, the location is excellent for us visiting family. we have stayed here twice now and will continue to do so in the future.

Review 29:Disappointed the restaurant was closed - advertised as Monday to Sunday. Only bar food available. Bar staff were inexperienced but pleasant and tried to please.

Review 30:Elegant country house hotel, peaceful situation in beautiful grounds, plenty of parking. Spacious good quality bedrooms with excelled bathroom toiletries.

Review 31:The decor is very tired looking, stained carpets, peeling wall paper, water stains on the ceiling. Its a shame as it has so much potential but overall disappointing

Review 32:Location is lovely

Review 33:I struggled to find a meal I would like on the restaurant menu so ate in the bar! Bar meal was good!

Review 34:Friendly and attentive staff, went for wedding which was great! Food on both nights was very nice! Stayed in the cottages which I really liked for its priviousy!

Review 35:I ordered for breakfast crispy bacon and beans. The beans were cold and clearley had not been heated. When this was pointed out to your staff, there was a nil reaction, not something that I would have expected.

Review 36:Sink in newly furbished bathroom loose.. it pulled out room 12. New tiles on floor not slip resistant. Hardly any plug sockets for use of personal items i.e. phone ect

Review 37:Nice big spacious room and location

Review 38:Wi-fi not working on second night. Very slight strange smell to room but soon acclimatized. Otherwise my stay was superb on the whole, and spot on for the money.

Review 39:Good sized car park for parking a Sprinter van. Free Wi-Fi ok on first night. Food - excellent, all my stay. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 40:Where do we start.. My partner arrived 3 hours before me too be greeted with a £100 waver. This had to be paid and signed for before we got the keys to the room. Then she navigated through the beautiful staircases and wood panelled corridors to what only can be described as "The basement" , a dull, damp and grimy part of the manor. We we're clearly staying in the over spill part of the Manor House THAT clearly needs a lot of attention. The Carpets we're filthy, the walls we're covered in dirt, finger prints and dull looking. Then we we're greeted with Room 39, firstly the door had seen better days and needed either painting or sanding down. Once inside the room the first impressions we're OK, meaning the bed was comfy but then the decline started. We has dirty walls, filthy light switches and dirty hand marks over most of the surfaces, coffee stains on the wooden work tops/Rad cover. 2 persons booked in a room means 2 of everything? We had one towel, not a bath towel. One cup and one glass, one bottle of water. No internet. A tiny TV that couldn't tilt so breaking you're neck to watch it was the only option. I did arrive late so that's why I didn't say anything verbally to the hotel but did write all the above info on the " Guest Stay Form" for them read. I am a genius user on booking and stay away from home on a frequent basis and stay in luxury hotels and to be frank this is the worst experience we're had.

Review 41:The concierge was welcoming and the food was good. The hotel is Such a beautiful building with exceptional grounds and decor. (Excluding the basement)

Review 42:I didn't like that they did not serve afternoon tea on a Saturday, and the dinner menu was very limited, also the weekend that I stayed there was a wedding reception and we could not order room service or go to the bar for food until 8:30 pm, the thing is we are there to relax, we did not want to drive to go to a restaurant, they should still have served food or allow us to order food, after all we are also paying customers we should also be fed not just the wedding guests.

Review 43:My partner and I are always looking for somewhere nice and quiet and away from the city to spend out weekend, I came across this property while browsing, we saw the price and location and for a good price so we decided to book for 2 nights. We loved the location and the property itself was beautiful, I've always been a sucker for manor houses.

Review 44:Our 2rooms were not together and for one room we had to go up,along and downstairs again which was a bit awkward as I had notified in advance that I had a broken collarbone and mobility issues!

Review 45:Staff were helpful and friendly. Food was good. Rooms had more facilities than we required..decor was lovely building and gardens are delightful.

Review 46:Nothing

Review 47:Great place. Can' t find anything bad to to say about this hotel. Loved staying there, very good food and relaxing stop while working. Will find a reason to bring my wife to this hotel and enjoy a non- business stay

Review 48:Breakfast was a little expensive for what you got

Review 49:The room on the grounds floor was great but it would have been nice to be able to open the French doors to the grounds

Review 50:Room was very warm, couldn't turn off one radiator

Review 51:Beautiful location, spacious room, well decorated, great shower, very clean and well maintained, excellent choices for breakfast

Review 52:Poor vegetarian main course. Soggy toast for breakfast, not helped by being served flat. Duvets rather thick for the time of year.

Review 53:Lovely building and grounds. Beautifully set dinner tables. Staff keen to move furniture to suit our table numbers.

Review 54:The only soap provided is fixed to the wall, out of reach of the bath. Which is ridiculous. Service at breakfast very slow.

Review 55:Location - beautifully situated. Night porter very helpful

Review 56:Shame about most venues like this they have gone down the events route, weddings, parties, etc. But we understand the need to survive

Review 57:Location of property, also recommend you ask for a cottage room

Review 58:Bad wifi, I had no phone signal at all in Clapham and needed to get in contact with my children and the wifi did not work either which was rather annoying.

Review 59:The room size, comp water. Lovely hotel very pretty. Lovely location.Lovely country pub walking distance. There was a wedding on and we couldn't even hear the wedding which was great! We were in a room at the corner of the Manor at the back of the hotel. Lovely.

Review 60:I couldn't improve it in any way.

Review 61:My favourite kind of hotel; unpretentious, comfortable, solid, old fashioned, friendly, beautiful, and easy to live in.

Review 62:i didn't find anything I / we didn't like

Review 63:The location was beautiful and very peaceful . Friendly staff . Always happy to help. On Sunday 18 th we got to hotel late. Wanted a bottle of wine.it was no trouble for the young guy that manned the desk. He was lovely . We chatted a little. I would reccomend this hotel to everyone. Just lovely

Review 64:Uncomfortable bed, an unhappy maitre'd! Ordered breakfast in room, all we got were two plates of food, no condiments, no tea or coffee etc Receptionist took our money on check out and didn't even ask us if we enjoyed our stay Changing of lightbulbs during dinner service?!

Review 65:The building was lovely with nice character

Review 66:A nice manor house not too far from town. Very nice room but some of communal areas are becoming a little tired. The whole place has a distinctive "Fawlty Towers" feel to it, very amusing.

Review 67:The room we stayed in was not at all representative of the room we booked. Dead insects aim the bath, furniture damaged and views out of the ground floor window of the loading bay and bins. Worse, our friends who we also booked a room for had a smaller and dare I say it poorer quality room. I am sure there are nice rooms available in the hotel but ours faired poorly on a comparison with premier inn both in price and quality.

Review 68:The exterior is very pleasant, unfortunately our rooms didn't match the aesthetic.

Review 69:I asked specifically for a walk-in shower, as I have short term mobility problems. The hotel claimed to have no knowledge of my request and were not able to help. The breakfast was very mediocre. It felt as though it had been cooked hours before.

Review 70:We had a lovely big room, which was very comfortable, with views of the garden.

Review 71:Fabulous hotel with very comfortable beds, fantastic staff. Silver service dinners that were truly excellent. Great location with good garden area. A gem of a find!

Review 72:Would have preffered that breakfast was included in the price. We didn't buy the breakfast now. Our room was good, but we were two couples travelling and the other couple's room was even better. It was bigger, had a couch, and much bigger TV. Big differences between room of the same price! Wifi didn't was not very good in our room.

Review 73:Beatutiful building and rooms! Big rooms with sitting area (at least in the two rooms I saw)

Review 74:Would have preferred more of a range of food at breakfast e.g. croissants porridge etc. Not much food when we came down.

Review 75:I loved my room and the space. Really comfy and relaxing stay!

Review 76:Some staff particularly at breakfast one young girl really wished she wasn't there they had had a lot of people not Booked for breakfast appRwntly when the bookings are bed and breakfast yet they ran out of everything also cobwebs in the dinning room

Review 77:The room was good but a long way from reception not made the best of this as they could have had a quicker route and used the room for less asked persons

Review 78:Only slight disappointment was out room was 1 of 3 down from the main house but the room etc was still emaculate

Review 79:Nice grounds and Friendly staff, good sized room

Review 80:Cottage is a bit summer-housey so likely to get cold, we were there in mid summer and needed all heating on.

Review 81:Lovely location, not far from Bedford. We had one of the cottage rooms, so a nice rural feel.

Review 82:Very tired. New bathroom but covered in mould around shower. Cracks in flooring and stained. Carpets very tired also. Very dark walk if car is parked at rear of building. Needs more lights. We had a ground floor room that really needs modernising and at the least, painting. Walls very thin surprisingly for an old building and you could hear conversation's in next rooms

Review 83:Nice location and building

Review 84:We had a bar meal my husband had a steak pie which was ok and I had a chicken pie. The pastry on mine was hard and the inside was dry had to ask for some gravy to be able to eat it.

Review 85:The room was good. Breakfast was excellent apart from the Sunday when it was a buffet style, much preferred waitress serving at tables.

Review 86:Really hard pillows. Toilet in bar area had a really unpleasant smell, there was a nappy bin in there not sure if it was emptied!

Review 87:Comfortable bed and amazing duvet. Staff very helpful and amenable. Spacious rooms.lovely grounds

Review 88:Everything was to my satisfaction.

Review 89:Great hotel in a wonderfully secluded, quiet setting, in a picturesque village conveniently served by shops and pubs. Lovely, comfortable room. No complaints whatsoever.

Review 90:Breakfast already a big price, have to pay extra if you want scrambled eggs

Review 91:Friendly, quite, best sleep I've had for a long time. Very very big family room

Review 92:No fan in the room and it was very hot Breakfast - the eggs were overcooked and a little bit pricey for what you got

Review 93:Bedroom size Staff Whole accomodation

Review 94:we ordered a meal in the evening from the bar and were both really dissapointed with it, the fish and chips really greasy and the nan bread flat and dry.

Review 95:the breakfast lovely, good choices.

Review 96:I found the staff, although moderately friendly didn't go out of their way to be welcoming. The restaurant wasn't open on Monday evening but I had to ask before I was told. The food was good but the bar service was very slow.

Review 97:The location, the room and the food itself were very good. I liked the bathroom too.

Review 98:Hotel plumbing is very old to the point the shower pressure trickles out.

Review 99:staff were very welcoming even when they were also catering for a wedding reception.

Review 100:Could have had more choice of breakfast items - not really enough for vegetarians

Review 101:Really large room for family of four, lots of space and very comfortable.

Review 102:There is a strange habit of leaving clean towels on top of the toilet. This is inappropriate. Poached eggs at breakfast were a mess, poor room service for the second time. The whole place is a little dusty, could do with a thorough spring clean.

Review 103:Quiet setting, countryside, very friendly reception, lovely building

Review 104:The breakfast was too expensive! £20 for a three course evening meal, but £12 for breakfast?

Review 105:The views and the quiet. The evening meal (which I booked with the room) was excellent value for money.

Review 106:Room was getting a bit tired, especially en-suite. Bath loose, but not unsafe.

Review 107:Situated in large gardens, quiet and well furnished public areas. Good choice of food and a great breakfast. Thoughtful and helpful staff

Review 108:Our room was disappointing, no view and bathroom was shabby. Service at breakfast was slow and unfriendly - had to ask twice for toast.

Review 109:Liked the hotel, reception area, bar and grounds

Review 110:Old building but the plumbing really does need improvement , i don't mind waiting for hot water in old manor house but do expect reasonable flow from shower !

Review 111:newly refurbished room , excellent size

Review 112:A couple of things could be improved. The room was remote from the building and was quite cold when I arrived. It took the small Dimplex heater some time to make it comfortable. The wireless was patchy in its signal. I did get everything done I wanted however. Lastly there was no fresh fruit out at breakfast. I eventually asked and some was brought out specially to my table. With it being mentioned as available from the buffet it should have been there I feel.

Review 113:The staff are all helpful, attentive and friendly. The restaurant food was excellent. I chose a duck main course. Overall I would definitely stay again as a way to a man's heart is in the restaurant.

Review 114:I asked for fresh milk in my room- it didnt happen I asked again after my arrival- it didnt happen. Only after asking 3 times did it happen. I walked up to reception once and staff just carried on talking- no eye contact , no "we wont keep you a minute" The radiator in the bathroom was on full and didnt seem to be able to be turned off. The water in the shower was very hard to control the temperature- as I said- dated and needed modernising.

Review 115:Breakfast was good and the staff serving breakfastwere good .

Review 116:I was confused about my final bill and paid more than I expected. I do not feel the initial quote was explained fully. I changed the room for 2 single beds from the initial booking via the internet. I had to request this via a third party over the phone as several emails were not answered. I am unable to use the phone myself as I am hearing impaired.

Review 117:Excellent staff on the day

Review 118:Rooms in cottage dated dirty uncomfortable Bathroom had dangerous live parts showing very dated tap wouldn't turn off Carpets dirty No main light only 2 small table lamps

Review 119:Location

Review 120:Fresh Blood spots on one of the pillows Shower temperature adjusted by taps so difficult to control ie either boiling hot or freezing cold Family room for 4 adults but only 2 bottles of water supplied 3 cups & saucers & limited teas & coffees

Review 121:Quiet location

Review 122:Our room was lovely the only thing was that the security light outside our window was on all night which lit our room up so did not get a very good night sleep

Review 123:The staff

Review 124:Lovely, quiet location, just on the outskirts of Bedford. Easy car parking and good access to main roads. Excellent breakfast. A quiet, restful sleep.

Review 125:Reception rang at 10.58 reminding us check out was 11am. We was aware of this and about to vacant room when the phone rang. They wanted rid of us as there was a big wedding ! I told them I did not appreciate this treatment. Also no headboard on bed and only one large and one small towel.

Review 126:Had a nice welcome but was not happy with the room at all. Straight away we were moved to a much nicer room.

Review 127:None Really without being picky.

Review 128:Ample parking, Great Wi-Fi, Friendly Staff, Good Food, Some Beers and Glass of Red, Ate myself sleepy and enjoyed good nights sleep in a Comfy Bed..

Review 129:Evening meal very poor, room very small, heating not working in evening, matress much smaller than base and uncomfortable, furniture laminate lifting on all furniture, even bedside lamps did not match, light switch inside door did not light anything. Loved hotel two years ago. Not this time

Review 130:Position of hotel to Autodrome Staff very good

Review 131:Very expensive. Wasn't told it was a room only rate and got billed £12 extra for breakfast. Food was very mediochre for a place of this supposed standard. Had to book a time for a bar meal? Won't be staying again.

Review 132:The breakfast. £12 is a complete rip off. Of course if you want your eggs scrambled rather than fried/poached that will be £2 more!

Review 133:Absolutely brilliant service, the staff here really nail things well. The Sunday lunch is fabulous.

Review 134:General noise in the small hours made worse by 4:30 milk delivery and 5:30 start up of kitchen extractor fan made it impossible to get decent sleep. Miserly full English breakfast left me wanting so much more.

Review 135:Nice room, well presented. Fish and chips soggy and bland. Limited selection from bar.

Review 136:Had to hold the switch down on the kettle to make it boil. Awkward to regulate the shower. Nothing else

Review 137:Friendliness of the staff Location Very English

Review 138:Pillows far too plump for comfort! Rooms are being decorated, hope they replace the carpets too. My room was particularly grim and sounded as though it had plastic underneath it which drew my attention to its shabbiness even more. Wi-Fi available but unreliable. No Iron!

Review 139:Hotel and grounds are lovely, staff very friendly.

Review 140:handle on toilet broke at 11am, which meant water was rushing through all the time - someone came to look at it but all they did was put a box of tissues behind the handle in the cistern which last about 30 mins and then the water was gushing all night making an unbearable noise. Spoiled what had been a nice evening

Review 141:The water was dangerously hot and it was difficult to avoid scalding yourself in the shower which was hard to adjust. The garden view was NOT inspiring from our room

Review 142:Room was cold despite plug-in radiator. Shower was little more than a dribble. There was a constant buzzing/humming noise which was annoying. We stayed in number one, the cottage.

Review 143:The setting was nice. Staff were friendly. The bed was very comfortable.
