Reviews for Inter-Hôtel de l'Univers

Review 1:All the staff were really friendly and helpful at all times Great location Very fresh and tasty breakfast selection Vert effective blinds in the room so the kids slept in a bit!

Review 2:NoneColouful

Review 3:Secure parking. Welcoming reception. Large clean room with good bathroom and shower. We loved the colourful frieze in a poppy design over the bed. The buffet breakfast was a standard choice of cold meats, cheese, bread, cereal etc. but was more than enough for our needs. The hotel made a very pleasant stop on our journey south.

Review 4:Nothing !!

Review 5:This hotel is great for larger families the staff are helpful my husband left his wedding ring in the room on checkout they rang and posted the ring back to England !! The kids loved the Themed rooms easy to find in it's central location great hotel and staff we will definitely return !!

Review 6:Would have liked secure parking, had to park in the road. This was particularly worrying as we had bikes on the back of the car.

Review 7:Great room, good location near Medieval part of town which is beautiful. Great breakfast.

Review 8:We used the hotel as a stop over on our way home from Spain, as reviews said it was a good place to stay. They were right! The hotel is in a great location, easy to find. Just a short walk to the old city which was lovely to wander around and had great restaurants (try the fabulous Tex-Mex one!). Our room was clean and spacious, wifi worked brilliantly which pleased the kids, and the beds were comfy. We were disappointed not to get one of the rooms with the lovely graffiti style murals, but our room was nicely decorated. The staff on reception were very friendly and helpful. We didn't have the breakfast there as we felt we could eat more cheaply elsewhere. Although we were only there one night we had a peaceful rest ready for our travelling the next day! Would definitely recommend the hotel.

Review 9:Lovely staff and wonderful breakfast. Plus room was fantastic, we had one of the rooms with art/graffiti on the wall and the kids really loved it.

Review 10:Room was quite warm, could have done with air conditioning.

Review 11:Location near old part of town. Staff friendly, spoke good English and could recommend excellent places to eat.

Review 12:Wifi was only for 1 hour We didn't have enough time to use sauna

Review 13:Staff- so friendly and helpful Cheese- we were given s sample of 4 local cheeses to try in the evening- free! Lovely local beer and an exceptionally good red

Review 14:Modern funky rooms with great bathrooms. Because the owner is a biker we parked our motorbike in the secure garage for free. Also good location for the centre and restaurants.

Review 15:Step up into the hotel and no restaurant for dinner. Limited secure parking otherwise on street (paying) close to station.

Review 16:Very modern, comfortable, spacious, wheelchair accessible room with hardwood floor, good breakfast, central location

Review 17:Parking close by (paying). Not sure whether there was parking at hotel. It wasn't offered.

Review 18:Close to town centre Staff welcoming and helpful Good value for money

Review 19:gym could have morep equipment.

Review 20:im often in Montlucon and i think this is the best hotel. of course still needs to be refreshed but in my opinion is the best comparing to others

Review 21:Freshly renovated rooms, we had a nice positive experience again. This is the 2nd time we come and it was still very pleasant. Breakfast was nice. Good private parking facility.

Review 22:No English speaking TV channels

Review 23:Location made it easy to walk into the town and explore its many shops and restaurants. All staff very polite and friendly Small gym was quite good

Review 24:Right at the Gare so the usual low lifes never far away. This probably should get another star but still some two star touches . Door opens straight into the room [ 3 feet from bottom of the bed. Open wardrobe with variety of hangers eg Wire Plastic wood etc. A six or seven minute walk to the old town. [ not a real problem ].No English speaking news channel on the TV.

Review 25:Some thought gone into decoration. Carpet on the floor . Two tub chairs and a coffee table . This is not normal in a two star . Quiet lift. Stylish bathroom with a rainwater head shower. Striking feature wall . secure parking. Helpful owner.

Review 26:Friendly and helpful staff. Located close to station, shops and old town. Staff took initiative to point out attractions and help with maps etc. Off Street free parking

Review 27:I could not find fault with the place or the hotel....both are great!!

Review 28:We have stayed at this excellent and well-run hotel several times. The owners are friendly and helpful; the rooms comfortable; the breakfast excellent. We like the medieval city and its restaurants. We look forward to staying here on our trips to the Northern Ardeche.

Review 29:Disappointed that the hotel did not have a restaurant as the details we found seemed to indicate it had a rather good one!

Review 30:We were most impressed with the cheerful assistance given to us by the manager/owner.

Review 31:Room was fresh and well decorated as was the shower/toilet room. Breakfast choice was ok. The receptionist was very helpful. He gave us directions to the medieval centre and told us where to eat. Secure parking.

Review 32:116 euros was expensive for a standard bed and breakfast. The hotel could do with a bit of a refresh.

Review 33:Location was excellent, the staff were welcoming and friendly, Le Touquet is a lovely place. The hotel was clean with functioning Wi-fi.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:On arriving in Montlucon we got lost and could not find the hotel, I rang and said we couldn't find our way and was given instructions and the gentleman was very helpful. Upon arriving the gentleman showed us where we could park, he was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us which was very welcoming after a long journey. Our room was fantastic, two double beds, we are a family of two adults and two children, massive wetroom bathroom and so very clean and nicely decorated. Could not have asked for more. Very pleased we did not have to pay full price for our children's breakfast like you do in so many other hotels.

Review 36:Dreadful decor - suitable for a twelve year old in 1995 (muppets, hip hop....) and one of the worst hotel-sins: plastic undersheets that wake you up in a sweat in the middle of the night.

Review 37:really friendly staff, convenient parking.

Review 38:No kettle in the room but the manager quickly produced one on request so that was fine.

Review 39:Very nicely appointed, comfortable room and very helpful staff. Breakfast was bountiful and delicious.

Review 40:Loads of parking as you are right across the road from the train station, but limited free parking. Luckily the machine was broken when we stayed...

Review 41:Lovely reception staff. We practiced our French, they practiced their English. The perfect distance from the many restaurants in the medieval centre for dinner to settle without being tiring. The room looked to have been very recently refurbished and was spotlessly clean. And the shower, worth the price of the hotel on its own!

Review 42:reception is a bit outdated but will be refurbished

Review 43:Currently freshly renovated rooms, we had a nice positive experience. Breakfast was ok Good private parking facility. Town is much nicer than expected.

Review 44:Non-working aircon - though not really needed once I figured out how to open the electrically driven window shutter!

Review 45:The hotel was fairly easily located, being near to the railway station, and I was pleased with the spacious secure garage to park my motorcycle. Very helpful hotel manager who speaks English well. Good quality modern furnishings and fittings in room and ensuite bathroom. Short walk to town centre, though there was a surprisingly limited range of restaurants open when I visited.

Review 46:Bedroom small and very recently painted. Graffitti type design on feature wall and dark purple on others.Felt oppressive but might appeal to younger people. No tea & coffee facilities in room

Review 47:Secure parking was excellent. Able to unload car near front door. Very good choice at breakfast and great value.

Review 48:No air conditioning.

Review 49:Comfortable and clean room with nice bathroom. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location on a pleasant street and close to the old centre with nice restaurants and shops. Parking close by.

Review 50:Bathroom very small - but functional. No air conditioning or fan. Room a bit stuffy on arrival - window opened remedied this.

Review 51:This hotel was very easy to find. Free parking close by. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The family room was spacious and comfortable. Room clean. Free wifi was available.

Review 52:Had to unpack our case on the floor, as the furniture was too nice to put a suitcase on! Not sure how secure the car park was: there seemed to be open access to the garage through a side door.

Review 53:Individual, beautifully-decorated and spacious rooms with well-appointed bathrooms and remote-controlled window blinds. Off-road, enclosed car parking in large garage. Good selection of fruit, cereals and croissants/bread for buffet-style continental breakfast. Very friendly and helpful receptionist, who telephoned to book us a table at a restaurant when we arrived very late. Reported a problem with our room on the way down to breakfast, and it was fixed by the time we got back to the room. Good, central location close to the town centre.

Review 54:No air conditioning

Review 55:People at reception very kind and helpful. Room are nicely decoratrd and bathroom very modern. Breakfast good value for money. Location near train station and old city

Review 56:On check-out both the receptionist and manager were dealing with a difficult customer which was taking a very long time at no time did I receive any acknowledgement of my presence and when the manager had finished she just walked around with letters in her hand and make no attempt to attend to me it was as if I was invisible This was in contrast to the friendly welcome I received at check-in

Review 115:Compared to other hotels we stayed at during this trip, breakfast was more expensive and lacked the quality we had been offered at other hotels. We declined breakfast for these reasons.

Review 116:The owners of the hotel have invested in the hotel and the bedrooms have been recently been refurbished. They are due to start on the reception area and the dining room in early autumn. The rooms are bright, spacious and welcoming and the bathrooms have been decorated to a high standard. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and extremely helpful.
