Reviews for Losehill House Hotel & Spa
Review 1:The hotel is set in a picturesque and peaceful setting. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food served in the restaurant is excellent. The spa area is small but the outdoor hot tub is fabulous and relaxing.
Review 2:The spa lacked ambience and the outdoor hot tub wasn't very hot
Review 3:Service in the restaurant and bar was excellent and the food very good Location was perfect for enjoying the Peak District Room comfort was excellent
Review 4:bathroom drains smelt bad , dirty ear buds from previous occupants still in the bin also a glass of their water not removed so I drank from it thinking it was mine . Shower pan was spongy and concerned I would fall through it. Although room is described as offering ground coffee only allowed 1 coffee bag per stay.
Review 5:Location , friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Food was good too . Nice spa facilities and complimentary toiletries were lovely.
Review 6:The hotel is down a single track road, about a mile from the nearest pub !!
Review 7:Views, Pool, Hot tub & the breakfast, dinner, well just about everything !!
Review 8:Had a stale sandwich given to me but I complained and they replaced it. Room above us was very noisy.
Review 9:I liked the service and massage. The outside hot tub was also nice.
Review 10:No back entrance when approaching from the river - we had to climb over the fence! To be fair, I don't think many people walk there, although more should do.
Review 11:The gentle walk to get there (we took the train to Hope). The peace and quite of the surroundings. The sumptuous environment and pleasant food.
Review 12:wine list a bit pricey-but if you can afford this hotel you will be able to afford he wine.
Review 13:Good unobtrusive and not overly formal service. Lovely food , cheffy presentation. sat in the hot-tub and watched the Sun come up on a January morning
Review 14:No fresh fruit at breakfast and having to fix a breakfast time to eat.
Review 15:The room was excellent; clean, great bed linen, large bathroom. Good service and quality food. Nice touch to have free access to pool, sauna, hot tub etc.
Review 16:Room was infested with lady birds, small and more comparable to a 3* hotel. When we mentioned the infestation to reception they said "oh yes we know", which wasn't helpful. We finished our meal about 10:50 and at 11:00 all of the staff disappeared without any mention of coffee! Night porter made up for this & kept the bar open as long as we wanted.
Review 17:The evening meal was excellent, in fact the best hotel food I have ever eaten. Jacuzzi, steam room and pool we clean and good temperatures but the sauna was out of order.
Review 18:My sleep was disturbed by the heat of the thick duvet on the bed.
Review 19:Quiet rural location. Comfortable room and bed. Good breakfasts Mostly everything good including the pool facilities.
Review 20:When we arrived the receptionist was not particularly welcoming, but I don't think she was the usual one! Dinner was extremely fancy and might not suit all tastes.
Review 21:The beautiful tranquil setting. The clean and comfortable room with stunning views. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 22:Room was dated and shabby N2. Reception wouldn't allow 6mth old sleeping baby in restaurant after 6pm so went out for lovely meal.
Review 23:Location, grounds. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was good.
Review 24:Restaurant dishes were tasty, but definitely not for heartier appetites. Artistic, but sparse.
Review 25:Lovely setting, even though our room overlooked the car park. Went on a nice walk/hike with printed directions from hotel staff.
Review 26:For us the food was over fussy and too elaborate as was the service in the dining room. For a property that sells itself on high quality, we did not expect to find a heavy layer of mould at the bottom of the shower curtain
Review 27:Superb location and the dining room is a lovely setting. Comfortable room with a very comfortable bed
Review 28:Nothing to dislike.
Review 29:Been before so knew to expect luxurious accommodation. It was a perfect break, wonderful place to retreat to after wandering around the Peaks.Staff were superb, friendly and helpful at all times.England is not a cheap destination, full stop. But at least here you get what you pay for.
Review 30:The hotel is in a beautiful location and the staff are very friendly & accommodating. The food is lovely & spa facilities are just right. Wonderful second trip to Losehill!
Review 31:Our room had wooden folding doors into the bathroom - they were awkward to use. The fan in the bathroom was very noisy and stayed on for ages. The outlet taps for the twin sinks were set too low for easy use - almost impossible to fill the kettle. One of the tap handles was loose and kept falling off. So a few design issues in the bathroom which we fed back to the reception staff. We were also disappointed with some aspects of our meal - starters - the "Heritage tomatoes" tasted like supermarket standard and the "goat's cheese parfait" seemed to be 3 very small dollops of not very tasty soft cheese. My partner was also disappointed in his lamb which he described as nothing special.
Review 32:The lovely setting, the history of the building including the delightful newspaper article with tips on how ladies should dress for a walking holiday with the CHA in the 1920s on display in the lounge, the gracious and relaxing atmosphere in the dining room and lounge. And the delicious desserts!
Review 33:Going outside in rain to get to our room
Review 34:Room very nice and spacious
Review 35:Couldn't book dinner for time we wanted
Review 36:Room, food, location
Review 37:Bit noisy in room number 9 over the entrance
Review 38:Great pedicure from Millie Loved the blankets!!
Review 39:Bit Pricey
Review 40:Excellent Food Tranquil Surroundings Friendly Staff
Review 41:Nothing to complain about!
Review 42:Friendliness of staff, quality of food, brilliant location
Review 43:Loved everything but could do with bigger spa facilities. I.e. Pool and gym.
Review 44:Loved the location and the service.
Review 45:One bad breakfast didnt spoil the stay....
Review 46:Great setting near superb walks
Review 47:Having to leave a little earlier than planned due to wedding.
Review 48:Good for celebrations and as a base for walking.
Review 49:Nothing adverse to say
Review 50:The staff, the food & location were faultless. Certainly will return
Review 51:Small and cosy, well run and a good location.
Review 52:The leisure facilities & the view!
Review 53:The woman on reception who thought she was more important than the customers !!
Review 54:The room and the food.
Review 55:Room layout poor, bedside tables unusable because made of metal strips. Bathroom layout poor. Staff organisation at breakfast poor, no explanation of system. Poor quality of breakfast and breakfast selection.
Review 56:Beautiful country setting
Review 57:Breakfast was really noisy with many children, plus we were sat in the middle of the room and the floor bounced every time someone went past. I thought the room rate was quite high for what we actually got. Don't like large shared containers of toiletries - really don't like sharing them with others.
Review 58:Nice bright room, great location, excellent food.
Review 59:Beef was undercooked/tough, and we had to send it back- we were told it was cooked 'sous-vide', we changed for fish & chicken -those were cooked well. Flavours were good but presentation very 'nouvelle cuisine' -tiny portions. Breakfast good and well cooked but again the smallest portion of scrambled egg I've ever seen (and I've stayed in many hotels around the world!) Also the hotel details describe artisan muesli containing goji berries- I was looking forward to trying this but again the portion was so small and the goji berry pieces so miniscule they could not be tasted! The major disappointment for me was the Spa- hot tub cold and unusable
Review 60:Well appointed hotel-good location
Review 61:The sauna was not switched on in the morning at 7.30 and the tub had not been opened up. The shower/changing rooms were not cleaned on Sunday and were in a shocking state on Monday morning. There were broken glasses near the tub. We were glad to be able to use the luxurious facilities in our room. The staff were neither efficient nor very friendly
Review 62:The King Room was excellent. The food was heavenly, an amazing culinary experience. The Spa facilities are excellent but not very well managed.
Review 63:The decor needs updating in the bathroom, it looked like there had been a leak around the bath. Spa facility was a bit dirty standing water in and around the saunas, the pool was not heated.
Review 64:The size of bedroom, free wifi and scenic views
Review 65:Looking forward to the steam room but, unfortunately, it was out not working. A minor frustration only.
Review 66:Food was excellent and staff attentive. Fabulous view to enjoy with your full Derbyshire breakfast! Minor problem with room attended to immediately. Overall would be happy to return and recommend.
Review 67:Dinner at the restaurant. It felt a bit expensive, not for the quality of it, but for the quantity.
Review 68:The indoor swimming pool and hot tub at night, after a long day walking in Peak District.
Review 69:Pool was 1.2m and so not ideal for small children as they couldn't stand up in the water.
Review 70:Very clean. Quiet and peaceful. Beautiful views. Lovely breakfast. Lots to explore nearby.
Review 71:It's really difficult to find fault with anything.
Review 72:Excellent location, comfort, atmosphere. Such a fabulous location with beautiful views and starting points for walks. We were provided with directions for walks, very helpful and we could even by an OS map. They were very helpful letting us change rooms. Really comfortable, really nice lounge area, bar and restaurant. Great tasting food created and served with real care and pride. Breakfast was included and delicious. Free WiFi was an appreciated extra. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The pool and spa treatments are an added bonus. We can't wait to return!
Review 73:We hadn't realised that dogs are allowed in the Mews bedrooms and we had one of them. The room was large and comfortable but unfortunately there were dog hairs on the sofa.
Review 74:The beautiful scenery around the hotel. The main rooms are very comfortable and smart and we enjoyed the indoor pool and the outdoor hot tub despite there being snow on the hills!
Review 75:It was a bit pricey but you only get what you pay for! I will be coming back again though, it's worth paying for luxury occasionally
Review 76:Everything! Very clean room, friendly staff, excellent food and facilities. Great location
Review 77:Spa facilities are limited. There was limited seating around the pool - not enough to cater comfortably for the large number of people wanting to use the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub on a cold, rainy day.
Review 78:Hot stone massage was lovely, lunch was very tasty and well presented. The room was well equipped and we had a comfortable stay.
Review 79:Water in pool a little chilly for some but did not spoil our visit to the spa.
Review 80:Wonderful spotless clean Hotel, with good old fashioned service with a smile. Food perfect in an ambient elegant dining room, the night gets top marks from us, many thanks.
Review 81:Our room (number 15) was next to the Spa treatment rooms and there was constant noise all day of doors banging and conversations outside the room. There was also machine noise (fan or pump) and the smell of cooking when the Kitchen was in operation. The room price was extortionate in relation to all these problems. For this reason we will not be returning.
Review 82:The Restaurant and staff were excellent
Review 83:We had some rain one afternoon, so I would say this as a complement.
Review 84:Lovely location in a peaceful valley. Nice, clean and comfortable. Staff was excellent.
Review 85:Not enough dry towels and robes provided in room for spa experience to be fully relaxing. Veggie starter on main menu ran out. I am a veggie so disappointing.
Review 86:Luxurious yet not ostentatious. Friendly and informal yet excellent service. Views stunning from bedroom and dining room. Felt pampered!
Review 87:Paintwork to rear of building a little tired but not visible unless spending time in the garden/hot tub
Review 88:Booked for two nights the night before our arrival and we were extremely lucky to book the last double room available and one with a spectacular view too. Who could grumble to stepping out the shower to a view of Win Hill, endless sheep and the odd cow. The staff were lovely and the duty manager was extremely patient with me asking endless questions and advice about local walks. My hubby enjoyed a massage soon after arrival while I sampled a brief trial hike up Lose Hill. We then met in the hot tub, outside, again overlooking beautiful scenery. The evening set meal was unusual, but very well presented and tasty. Rooms were clean, comfortable, bathrooms huge. If you have 3 hours to spare def do the walk from the hotel, up Lose Hill, then across the ridge to Mam Tor. Difficult in places but worth the odd bit of puffing for the views. Enjoy your stay if you book.
Review 89:Really enjoyed our time at this hotel. Fantastic views of the country side. helpful & friendly staff. Excellent spa facilities. A most relaxing break.
Review 90:Dirty staircase to sun-deck, hot tub was out of order. Breakfast staff were not disposed to set used (preferred) tables for later guests...
Review 91:Peace and quiet. Nice, well equipped rooms. Wonderful dinner. Personable staff.
Review 92:Difficult to find - poor signage Didn't answer phone when trying to find them Food sometimes a little too pretentious
Review 93:Location - lovely outlook Food Generally friendly Staff
Review 94:We stayed for 3 nights and found the room clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was excellent and they catered well and with no fuss for my gluten intolerance. Lovely surroundings too.
Review 95:loved our room but had to walk out in the cold and rain to go to the restaurant for our meals
Review 96:The relaxed atmostphere The setting and lovely dining area Hot tub, would be better indoors as the weather was not so good
Review 97:Can't think of anything.
Review 98:Everything. Splendid staff, friendly, helpful, intelligent and very professional. Wondeful bucolic setting. Excellent food, complex and tasty but never OTT. Jolly good wine list. Clean rooms with lovely views and really comfortable beds. Good pool.
Review 99:It is not a place to visit with a small child. As the whole set up is to have everything slowly (which can be nice but not with a child). To wait 30min for breakfast to arrive is just too long for a young child.
Review 100:Nice setting of hotel. Food was very good
Review 101:Bar service a bit slow Bed head banging against wall when we were frisky Needed bath oils to complement bath Better signage or directions
Review 102:Restaurant dinner was excellent & good value for money Spectacular views Pet friendly
Review 103:Dinner was good, but not as good as I had expected given the reviews. Aminor dislike.
Review 104:Location was serene Staff were superb and couldn't do enough. Acredit to the place.
Review 105:Far too hot at night without the facility to change it, or at least we couldn't work it out, slept badly as a result
Review 106:Beautiful location and grounds, great food, great hot tub looking out at the snow on the hills. Relaxed friendly atmosphere.
Review 107:For an indoor pool it was freezing, compared to other indoor pools we had been to on our trip, definately not warm. The outdoor hot tub, well wouldn't call it that, this was lukewarm, again others we had been too during this time of year managed to keep the temperatures warm!
Review 108:The hotel is a hidden gem!Such a lovely location with great views nestled in the peak district.Rooms were comfortable and modern.Staff very friendly and helpful.Breakfast, delish!
Review 109:The room was really spacious. The spa facilities were excellent, even if the hot tub wasn't too hot! Breakfast was lovely, and really personalised. A superb location,
Review 110:We went to the hotel for our honeymoon we had a wonderful stay the staff were really friendly and very helpful. Our room was spotless and the bed comfy. The pool was lovely and the food was amazing. We had a wonderful stay.
Review 111:The staff are not supposed to change towels for rooms which are beingoccupied for more than one day unless the towels are left on thefloor/in the bath. In practice, our towels were sometimes changedanyway, and twice we were then left with an incomplete set and had toask reception for more.
Review 112:We were staying at the hotel for the third time. What we like above allis the location. When I picture the hotel, what comes to mindimmediately is sitting in the (very light) dining room admiring theviews and enjoying excellent food. My wife very much appreciates the spafacilities.
Review 113:sauna and steam room not on at 4pm when returning to hotel
Review 114:views, food, room, locations
