Reviews for La Fraîchette

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Rooms comfortable, excellent breakfasts & meals in restaurant. Lovely location, just a few minutes away from Honfleur. Very hospitable hosts.

Review 3:A bit out of things but that suited us fine

Review 4:Lovely location, very quiet and peaceful and very attentive staff. Dinner was good and where else would you find a chef who took the trouble to find us in the morning after losing to Wales at rugby to help us relive the moment!

Review 5:There was nothing about the hotel we didn't like.

Review 6:A small and welcoming family run hotel in a quiet rural location, but convenient for Honfleur and Le Pays D'Auge. The ground floor room was comfortable with a pleasant outside sitting area and the food was excellent, with dinner freshly prepared, cooked and served by the Owners from a small but varied menu. Everything was unhurried and tranquil.

Review 7:If you don't stay at La Fraichette then you will have missed a real gem. The hotel is just lovely and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The restaurant is superb, with the menu on a large black board, and all beautifully cooked by the the owner who is a larger than life character. Having stayed here before this is definitely on our must go back list.

Review 8:This is just a gorgeous little place with modern comforts combined with charm and authenticity. The restaurant is excellent and it's a delight to sit outside in such a lovely setting after a long journey.

Review 9:Very friendly reception and an authentic French family hotel feel. Would have had more nights in that spot (instead of using it as a stopover) if we had realised it was just perfect and the local facilities were an added bonus.

Review 10:Very helpful friendly owners in a quite convenient location, very good food interesting choices. Very pleasant rooms some with their own patio in the garden, although not private great for an evening read or cold beer.

Review 11:Lovely oasis of calm after a hot drive. Clean and fresh with fabulous art from around the globe. Great supper in the garden surrounded by flowers. Room comfy and wet room very spacious. Only 20 mins from ferry terminal.

Review 12:Menu was same both of our 2 nights stay. Not sure how often menu changes. Idel for a couple of nights stopover but would not have liked to stay any longer.

Review 13:Quite quirky in a ver pleasant way. Smallish room with terrace onto garden. Would not suite anyone who likes spacious hotel chain rooms. Limited menu but all fresh and delicious and cooked by the 'les patrons'. So handy for the beautiful Hon Fleur.

Review 14:nothing

Review 15:A very attractive property friendly hosts. We arrived at lunchtime to find tables laid for lunch outside with an excellent menu. Well appointed rooms very clean a pretty garden. Dinner was excellent with plenty of choice.

Review 16:We never like a room for 2 people, which provides only 1 seat. Thought the price of breakfast somewhat higher than merited.

Review 17:We received a friendly reception and liked the edge of town, peaceful location. The hotel had a distinctive, non-chain character of its own.

Review 18:Cannot think of anything we didn't like.

Review 19:In a lovely village. Restaurant is excellent. All food cooked by owners. Walk to village 10 minutes. Drive to Honfleur 5 minutes. Highly recommend.

Review 20:I didn't find the hand held shower in our room very convenient.

Review 21:The service and comfort were outstanding. The quality of the food was better than all of the restaurants we visited in town and more reasonably priced, it was well presented and used the best of local produce. The room was spotlessly clean, quiet, the bed was very comfortable. The draft beer was excellent. I would go back again tomorrow if I didn't live so far away.

Review 22:It was a very warm night so a ceiling fan would have been welcome.

Review 23:Room was very comfortable and everything we needed was to hand. The owner was very welcoming. The evening menu looked lovely but we had eaten on the ferry before we got there (and wish we hadn't). A bit expensive but we would not hesitate to stay there again.

Review 24:Low slung cars do find the drainage channel leaving the car park a trial...we bottom out every time.

Review 25:The owners are just perfect hosts, the décor in the restaurant "typically French" and the food also. We have loved both our stays here and will return. The track leading to La Fraichette is quirky enough to make guests feel they are deep in the countryside rather than close to roads leads to Pont Normandie.

Review 26:lovely location quiet, lovely garden and unique hotel, a bit far out but an easy cycle ride to Honfleur or Restaurant on premises if you prefer. Hosts friendly and helpful

Review 27:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful...lovely people. This was our first overnight stop at the beginning of our holiday and it was a lovely start to the holiday. The meal in the evening was very good.

Review 28:Friendly owners with helpful suggestions. Lovely fresh food made on the premises. Small stylish restaurant with a mix of locals and travelling guests. Ask for a room with a terrace. It makes all the difference.

Review 29:Was a little awkward to get to, down a very steep path after a sharp bend.

Review 30:Beautiful house and very well presented. Very confortable room and spacious shower room. Liked that there was facilitity to make a hot drink. Breakfast very good value, lots available.

Review 31:Wet room became very wet after showering and the whole floor was a bit wet to walk over.

Review 32:Garden outlook, storage space for clothes and size of room. Friendly helpful staff and nice meal.

Review 33:Bumpy track into the property

Review 34:The La Fraichette is a little way outside Honfleur but is well signed and represents value for money. This is an owner operated business and both the husband and wife work hard to ensure the visit was enjoyable. We will happily stay again

Review 35:Our gps (sat nav) couldnt find the property very easily so we vere late!

Review 36:Nice & quiet, good food in evening.Beautiful house & surroundings too.

Review 37:Very friendly and welcoming owners

Review 38:The friendliness of the owners, the delicious food and the wonderful location. After a long drive, it was so peaceful and welcoming.

Review 39:Breakfast would be nice to be included in room rate

Review 40:Good location with quiet room

Review 41:No tea / coffee making facilities in room

Review 42:Excellent restaurant

Review 43:For a double, the bed was a bit small.

Review 44:Location, staff, breakfast. Comfortable large house with a nice garden.

Review 45:Friendly service - with excellent English Good food Good value

Review 46:Very quiet. Rooms clean and comfortable. Ours had a small patio that was nice. Dinner and breakfast were great.

Review 47:Bad to small

Review 48:The crew Very clean

Review 49:It was calm an cosy. A lot of personality in the hotel. Beautiful paintings and good food and service. Thank you

Review 50:Very helpful in finding a local garage

Review 51:Location, food, quiet

Review 52:peaceful picturesque location welcoming staff excellent food

Review 53:Comfortable, cozy place. Great restaurant ran by the owners. Had a fantastic stay.

Review 54:Hotel is in an old stone building and nicely remodeled to accommodate travelers. Clean, comfortable and friendly

Review 55:The weather sometimes, but that's Normandy.

Review 56:Small pension and good restaurant in a quiet surrounding. Very supportive and friendly staff.

Review 57:We loves the whole place, location, atmosphere, our hosts and the fact that there was a restaurant there. As it is a fit out of Honfleur it meant that we were able to eat excellent food at the place.

Review 58:The owner/chef was very rude to us for no apparent reason, he seemed to want to make the other patrons in the restaurant laugh at the expense of Americans. Not a nice thing to do twice in one meal, but we stayed above his lack of good manners and just smiled

Review 59:room was very nice Dinner was very good, breakfast a bit lacking location very close to Honfluer, easy drive

Review 60:Couple of things to note that are not really bad but could be changed to improve. There are not tea or coffee making facilities inside the rooms, rather there is a flask in the hallway with hot water, tea bags and sugar. The other thing would be the breakfast. We tried it once and for 9 euros pp we got coffee/tea, bread/jam, croissant, pain au chocolate a natural yoghurt and an apple puree that resembled baby food. Eggs or anything like that was an extra cost.

Review 61:Lovely hotel with very friendly owners. It's in a great location being very close to Honfleur and La Havre, which serves as the main road into the northern regions of France. The hotel is really easy to find as it's sign posted from the village. We received a lovely welcome and that continued through our stay.

Review 62:We loved the location of the hotel which is in the country side but two minutes from the little town. The owners have a restaurant on site and make the most delicious meals with a varied menu. The owners are a charming couple who are ready to help you with suggestions of nearby sites. Honfleur is 15 minutes away and the most charming town not to be missed.

Review 63:The double beds could have been wider.

Review 64:Ten minutes drive from Honfleur this auberge with free parking and wi-fi has a lovely restaurant opened to the public in the peaceful countryside. The food is delicious. The owners are sociable and charming. Fresh clean towels are provided every day! Excellent value for money in this very expensive part of the world.

Review 65:The hotel is in a lovely peacefull country setting and having dinner on the patio was lovely. The food is excellent and the owners very friendly and welcoming. Would definately stay again.

Review 66:The track to the hotel could be difficult if you met someone coming the other way... we only did once.

Review 67:The owners were like friends welcoming us into their home. The food and the general ambience were excellent. The bedroom was basic but had all we required and the patio area certainly added spce.

Review 68:The furniture was a little bit cold; I would have expected a cosier room.

Review 69:Not too far from Honfleur, but at the same time quiet and immersed in the country. I had dinner in the small nice restaurant of the guesthouse and the food was delicious. The landlady was helpful and very kind.

Review 70:A perfect nights sleep because it was so quiet. A wonderful welcome after a long journey, a spacious, comfortable room with excellent easy access facilities. A lovely private decking area with chairs. Superb food for our evening meal served in a small stylish restaurant or on the shaded terrace. private parking again in the shade. Close enough to briefly explore Honfleur in the evening of our arrival and get back intime for our evening meal.Would certainly. Return for a longer stay

Review 71:Couldn't get a wine in the bar. (Not their fault; they simply don't have a license). Still didn't like it though ;)

Review 72:Countryside surroundings.

Review 73:In the middle of a heatwave the bed covering was a thick(ish) duvet. No separate shower cubicle just an adapter on the bath taps

Review 74:The ambience, the location, the calmness and quietness of the hotel, the wonderful paintings all through the hotel and the delicious food.

Review 75:Nothing wrong with the hotel. Honfleur is an area that charges the earth for everything and you will pay through the nose for food and drink.

Review 76:staff were so helpfull and welcoming

Review 77:Breakfast was adequate but not as good value as others we had had in similar hotels.

Review 78:The owners are delightful and made us very welcome. Room with outside patio was good. Dinner was enjoyable.

Review 79:This is a beautifully restored farm house just outside Honfleur. The owners were charming and we were made very welcome. The restaurant is well priced and the food was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 80:This place is lovely! We had wanted to stay in the centre of Honfleur itself but nothing reasonable was available on the date we were there and thought this place looked far better than some of random chain types on the outskirts. This place is a little gem! Is only a 5/10 min drive at most from the centre of Honfleur. Is just on the outskirts, just off a track, set in the countryside but we found it very easily. Rooms are very modern, nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. If you have a ground floor room you have the added bonus of seating on the outside decking area of your room. Has a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere, the owners are lovely, very friendly & helpful. I would also highly recommend the restaurant. Food was fabulous! we had both dinner & breakfast here and both were excellent. I could not recommend this place highly enough.

Review 81:The location of La Fraichette was perfect for our visit to Honfleur - close but away from the crowds and the parking problems and with easy access to the main motorway. A delightful couple run the hotel and he is also the chef for their excellent restaurant. Our room was spacious and opened onto a private little decking and grassed area. The hosts were very warm and welcoming and speak excellent English.

Review 82:Everything! Good location for visits in Normandie, large and tidy rooms but especially a family running at your disposal friendly and helpful. In addition a great restaurant with a creative but high-quality menu with reasonable prices.

Review 83:The only thing about La Fraichette which we didn't like was that the double bed was, for us, a little too narrow with an insufficiently wide duvet, hence we did not enjoy the best of sleeps.

Review 84:Our stay at La Fraichette was perfect for our needs - a couple of nights near Honfleur on our way back to the UK. We received an extremely friendly welcome and were impressed by the atmosphere, decor and quirky touches in the hotel - the artwork and the 'armchairs' in our garden area, for example. We had planned to eat out in Honfleur on our second evening, but had enjoyed our meal so much the first night that we decided to eat again at the hotel. The standard of food and service was everything we would have wished for.

Review 85:really up to promises, 5 minutes by Honfleur, yet very quiet and easonably priced. Small, charming and family feeling. We arrived in the afternoon and were surpised to see no reception desk, it looked liek a private houe, and eventually it kepot the same style, but a confortable house indeed. Good food for dinner, home and fresh made with choice of wines at acceptable price.

Review 86:La Fraîchette is a very welcoming family run hotel in an ideal position for visiting Honfleur, Swiss Normande and the Normandy beaches. It is an easy drive from the Channel Tunnel/ferries or Ouistreham ferries. The hotel restaurant serves very good traditional French food. We stayed five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our break. The only minor downside if staying for more than a couple of days was that the dinner menu did not change at all during our stay. We would certainly recommend La Fraîchette and stay there again.

Review 87:Great and extremly helpful host, beautiful house & location. Highly recommended.

Review 88:Attentive management, good table

Review 89:Lack of tea/coffee facilities in the room

Review 90:Friendliness and flexibility. Good value dinner.

Review 91:Owners were very attentive and pleasant.

Review 92:All great. No negatives

Review 93:Quiet setting, great hosts and excellent food. Close to the reigns attractions, without being stuck in the middle of the town

Review 94:Estelle was very pleasant and accommodating. Food in the restaurant was delicious. Lovely setting!

Review 95:The room was rather basic for the price

Review 96:The food was excellent.

Review 97:Hosts were friendly and welcoming.

Review 98:Great place

Review 99:the location and friendliness

Review 100:Can't think of anything.

Review 101:This is a clean comfortable place and close to the charming town of Honfleur. It is quiet and away from the crowds.

Review 102:Wet room had very slippery floor; be careful!

Review 103:Ambiance, peace and private garden area.

Review 104:Slightly tired decor

Review 105:Ambience, food

Review 106:Excellent hosts, garden room and food

Review 107:Hospitality received

Review 108:Maintenance okay. Notmore. Breakfast was minimal with addedoptions at added price. Not worth themoney spent.

Review 109:Location outside city, peaceful place.

Review 110:A nice relaxed place to stay, with easy access to Honfleur. Dinner - good choice of dishes and an excellent chef. Worth eating in! Good breakfast.

Review 111:Just beginning to need a spring clean, especially the doors. Fairly basic bathroom toiletries.

Review 112:Spacious room with friendly owners.
