Review 2:Lovely location, quet part of the village, rooms with balconies, charming design, attenive staff. Hotel has 90 years of history, family owned and much loved, carefully renovated every year by owners. All bathroom facilities are new and immaculately clean. Nice breakfast. Feeling like staying with a family. Very friendly staff and charming and attentive owner. Cant believe that this was only two star hotel. I spent 5 nights in this hotel and will be returning again. I heard that many guests are doing the same, hoteöl has stable respectable clienelle. Thank you De La Darse for making my 5 nights stay so wondefully relaxing and comfortable!
Review 3:The location was wonderful, it was a short train ride to Monaco and Nice and the hotel is situated very close to all amenities. Unfortunately our stay was too short but next time we will stay longer and probably at the same hotel again.
Review 4:Cost of continental breakfast
Review 5:The location was perfect. We had a room with a garden view which was fine as we were not in the room very much. The front porch was perfect for breakfast and a nice view of the port. Location was superb. We were pleasantly surprised at the location and bathroom was very modern. We would definitely recommend.
Review 6:Limited view of sea. Slight noise from dockwork.
Review 7:Apart from a receptionist having a bad day it was a nice place to stay. Lovely for a walk along the seafront to Beaulieu. Good valueL
Review 8:The bed was comfortable but the room could have been larger. There is no elevator and our room was on the third floor. A rather exhausting effort needed to get to the room after a very difficult day.
Review 9:The hotel is very warm and inviting and delightfully located very near to the sea and within walking distance of restaurants. The breakfast offered a good variety of tasty and healthy items. Our room had a lovely garden room; but, alas, we arrived in a rain storm!
Review 10:nothing important - just one day without Internet but easily worked around that
Review 11:Bedroom was superb with double patio doors and balcony - views terrific across the harbour and bay
Review 12:Every thing was excellent. Especially the staff, they kindly lent us an adapter plug as we had forgotten ours. Also weather was pretty wet one evening and they lent us a large umbrella which was a godsend. All in all we had a wonderful stay. Will def be back. Well done.
Review 13:no elevator so not suitable for all.
Review 14:great little find of a hotel tucked away in a quiet corner of the cote d'azur just steps away from the hustle and bustle. very welcoming staff, little hotel of charm and character, a fresh alternative to hotel chains!
Review 15:We had a very nice top floor room facing to the bay. Clean, good big bed, good air conditioning, a balcony. Nice 5 min walk to the restaurant street beside Villefranche bay, 10 min to the beach
Review 16:smallish room. Our room initially stunk! There was obvious water staining to the outside wall and if you looked out the window the staining and damp smell was right in line with the sewer/soil pipe. There was little desk space
Review 17:Good a/c towels and bed linen all good wardrobe
Review 18:The hotel is quite basic but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Although the location is out of the town centre it is a lovely walk in and when the large cruise ships are anchored in the bay, it is quite nice to be away from the crowds. Being able to go to Monte Carlo by train is a real plus.
Review 19:It was a real suprise for me, the rooms are much more nicer than in the pictures on the website. Pretty spacious rooms, comfortable bed, good linen, good bathroom, good air condition. Every room have that lovely french style windows. First night we had a room with a balcony, which was spacious and with a beautiful view. Second night we had a "port view" (3th floor) which we really liked also. Breakfast is also worth to buy, very good coffee too! There are some free parking lots nearby the hotel, which is also a blessing, beacause it is hard to find and expensive also in other parts of the town. Villefranche is also a real gem!
Review 20:No lift, expensive breakfast
Review 21:Great quiet location just outside of the tourist center, rooms with a balcony right across from the water, incredible value for money, lovely view, comfortable furnishings, solid a/c. An excellent affordable hotel in an unbelievable part of the world.
Review 22:I would say no pool but there was a delightful uncrowded beach just two minutes walk away so not really a problem
Review 23:I had a triple room and en suite to myself yet the room was still eminently good value for its location. My personal terrace with spectacular harbour and bay view was perfect for an al fresco breakfast and morning lounging in the sun, then cool and shady through the heat of the day. The quiet air cooling was a godsend. A lovely level walk around the water's edge to the centre of the charming medieval village and its waterside eateries was areal bonus too.
Review 24:Top location. Very helpful friendly staff. A family run hotel. Fantastic views. Free parking. Great restaurants. L'Arte in Villefranches excellent. But Le Cockpit and restaurant next to hotel equally good. Good beach nearby. Sea view from room. Perfect. Easy access to Villefranches town, Nice and Monaco
Review 25:The view was spectacular! The location was great because it was quiet but just a short walk to the stores and restaurants. There was a lovely little restaurant next door that had delicious food and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights. The breakfast at the hotel was good. Everything was exceptionally clean throughout. The bed was comfortable.
Review 26:The blankets for douvets are not comfortable and fall apart in the night from the sheet.
Review 27:The view of the bay and the sea was great. There is a great place to eat breakfast and lunch at the end of the bay, 60 metres away from the hotel next to the waters edge. The food is very good and the staff are full of life and excellent value for money.
Review 28:Avoid taking a cab unless you are prepared to pay extortionate rates for short distances.
Review 29:The hotel was easy to find and in a great location. Villefranche sur Mer is and great place to simply relax and let the world go by yet is only 15 minutes by train from Monaco or Nice.
Review 30:A really good value hotel with beautiful views over the harbour. Rooms light, airy and clean, very good quality towels and bedding. Staff very friendly and decent breakfast. Only thing lacking is a lift.
Review 31:Free parking was available but be prepared to park a few hundred metres from the hotel and walk upstairs once in the hotel. (This was fine with a backpack!)
Review 32:Close to walking paths to fort and lookout over town. Excellent recommendation for a restaurant nearby in the old town from staff. Good breakfast
Review 33:We arrived around midday, but unable to check in until 1.30pm.
Review 34:Travelled with a friend to visit family. The location was perfect for us with just a short walk to the small port for restaurants, bars and cafes etc. Lovely view overlooking the marina and out to sea. Exceptionally clean and newly appointed bathroom. Good value for money.
Review 35:Towels quite small and no facilities in room for tea/coffee but this is an English gripe!
Review 36:Hotel very clean. Breakfast good. Great location with amazing view. Beach toys to borrow. Rooms very basic but for price and 2 star it was very very good.
Review 37:OK, did I say third floor? There's no lift and the stairs are steep, so you'll certainly work off breakfast! and parking can be a bit of a bunfight. But the advantages outweigh any minor irritations - this is great value and we would happily stay here again.
Review 38:We stayed here on the recommendation of friends and weren't disappointed. Loved the location, it's reasonably quiet and the view from our third floor balcony was superb! Friendly staff, recently refurbished room, excellent breakfast on the terrace. We also loved 'Trinquette' the little restaurant next door, especially the jazz night! and it's only a short stroll around to the old town (and/or the little beach) if you want to try one of the many options there.
Review 39:its near to bus station (to nice) but can be a bit far if u arrive with heavy luggage from the train station.
Review 40:the environement of the hotel is nice since facing the sea
Review 41:Amazing location at the yachting harbour of Villefranche sur Mer - walking distance from old town, citadel and lots of restaurants. Nice staff, fairly good breakfast at the terrace with view over the harbour.
Review 42:We enjoyed our 3 night stay, we found the location to be excellent with an amazing view, the staff were really helpful and friendly and our room was spotless. We will return!
Review 43:Very close to Monaco and Nice and a good value for reasonable price! We booked at the last moment and receptionist stayed at the desk later just to wait for out arrival. Great example of hospitality!
Review 44:Parking can be tricky in the middle of the day if you come back to the hotel then. It doesn't have a lift as is common with hotels of this type and age and I have a knee injury so this was difficult at times.
Review 45:Hotel attractive with great view over the port and a lovely wide terrace to eat breakfast or relax with drink in the evening. Cleanliness excellent with good air con. TV and bathroom good quality, staff very helpful and spoke English well. Street parking was always available in the evenings which had been a concern. The hotel s a 15 minute stroll from the old part of Villefranche. Thought this hotel was good value for money. Great little restaurant next door for nice but unfussy meal. They have jazz band Thursday nights.
Review 46:Nothing really. No elevator but that didn't bother me.
Review 47:The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the center of town. Very easy very doable and a pleasant walk along the Mediterranean. I preferred it much to being in the center of town which was a bit touristy. Also there was a nice sand pebble beach about a five minute walk from the hotel and the snorkeling was wonderful. If you want to go diving there's a scuba shop right next to the hotel literally right next to the hotel which is very convenient The water was crystal clear and there were all kinds of fish and sea life to be seen. I took the breakfast and enjoyed it but if you're looking for bacon and eggs this is not it. Mostly wonderful croissants and cheese and bread yogurt and fruit. Room very plain but comfy. I had a garden view which was very quiet but as has been said in other reviews get the sea view if it's available.
Review 48:A small fridge would be really useful to keep water cold (and wine)! Our room (21) led out onto the stairwell so the early risers were evident immediately. Very small but worth mentioning issue was that the north facing window only had a net and not shutters, if you are a light sleeper (like me) you will be awake when it gets light.
Review 49:The view, cleanliness of the room/establishment, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, the fact that we could have our (own bought) picnic lunch on the terrace with friends and reasonably priced.
Review 50:Four flights up with no elevator was tough with luggage. Quite a long walk (with luggage) from the train station; the narrow, bumpy, cliff-side path would be extremely nerve-racking if had arrived in bad weather. For our departure back to train station, we found several taxis even though the front desk had said there were none. Expensive for the five-minute drive, and the driver tried to shake us down for even more money because of our bags. We resisted successfully, but not a desirable situation - would appreciate the hotel having decent transport/taxi to recommend. Not economical for a family of four: had to get two rooms, no floor space to put even one kid. Also - for the price, a cup of coffee should be included!
Review 51:Thoroughly enjoyed the walkable strip and beach at Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Had our best dinner in France in a Villefranche town restaurant: salmon, risotto were superb. Our room's petite balcony offered lovely view of port! Slight downside - it also provided a lot of noise when cruise ships came clanging into port during the wee hours of the night. Room very clean, comfortable; good shower. I would return to Hotel de la Darse if traveling with just my husband and light luggage.
Review 52:No lift ..nearest bus service a 10 minute walk uphill.
Review 53:Our room was on 2nd floor great for your view on terrace. It was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff very helpful too.
Review 54:There is very little to dislike. The parking may require a little patience but it is free!
Review 55:Superb location within the port Hotel has been refurbished to a high standard which is matched by the friendly staff. Aircon that works without obtrusive noise. Good buffet breakfast
Review 56:Carrying the suitcases up the stairs but it cannot be helped - no big problem Would have like kettle in room for tea/coffee
Review 57:The location The view from the room The decor of the room - lovely The receptionist helped me with my french The breakfast was very good - provision of fresh fruit and cakes Overall a very good experience.
Review 58:However, the desk staff was unfriendly and we felt a bit unwelcome. Almost filled us with a sense of regret as we paid a lot and didn't feel like it was worth it at the end.
Review 59:The place was impeccable in cleanliness and facilities. The area was nice and pretty, right next to the port.
Review 60:Some hotel publicity states "Free public parking is available on site." This is completely misleading - there is NO parking within the confines of this hotel, and the publicity should be re-vised to say so. Limited on-street parking is available nearby, but is very likely to be fully occupied. The alternative is to use public car parks several hundred metres away.
Review 61:Position by the sea. The restaurant next door (in particular) and the one over the road.
Review 62:So noisy!!! They started clean the room at 7 a.m. But we got up at 9:00-10:00 a.m. so from 7 to 9 it was awfull. We can't sleep at all. Very bad sound-proofing. If you planning to get up early this hotel will be ideal for you.
Review 63:Clean hotel with all needed. Good location but you will need 10-15 min to get to the beach.
Review 64:3 storey walk up ,lavatory door did not shut, sliding cupboard door jammed, hall lights exposed bulbs only, extremely noisy every room and hall door movement heard within room .colour on TV very dark and unchangeable in 2 rooms I occupied

Review 70:Great place for a personal or business retreat
Review 71:Quiet area, very nice view from the balcony.
Review 72:Very clean and comfortable, close to all amenities, very helpful staff.
Review 73:The hairdryer was not working sufficiently.
Review 74:Small and cozy hotel, located on a great location.
Review 75:We loved the location, it was perfect to walk along the bay. We would choose the bay view next time instead of the garden view and stay longer.
Review 76:Staff very friendly & helpful. Excellent choice of foods for b/fast. About 10 minute walk from centre of town and restaurants, bars
Review 77:Amazing location. Nice welcome. Lovely and clean.

Review 85:The wifi kept going out
Review 86:I just love Villefranche
Review 87:Was perfect location quiet but close to everything. Provided beach mats, towels and umbrellas for the beach.
Review 88:Great location and very clean room with comfortable bed.
Review 89:I loved everything!
Review 90:Receptionist was not really very welcoming or friendly
Review 91:Lovely location by the marina Easy and pleasant walk to restaurants
Review 92:location and very helpfull staff. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfasts had an excellent choice and good value.
Review 93:The closest bus stop is Octroi where bus 100 and 81 stop. Room was ok. Very close to the port (right in front of the hotel).
Review 94:Very clean and well maintained. Firm mattress.
Review 95:Very noisy as stairs are not carpeted and people walking up were very load.
Review 96:Value for money.
Review 97:The very pleasant location
Review 98:Liked everything about this hotel.
Review 99:Can be noisy outside at night, but thats not really the fault of the hotel
Review 100:Clean, friendly, very helpful with a great aspect
Review 101:the location..the room and balcony
Review 102:Location; view; cleanliness
Review 103:old fashioned, no elevator, limited breakfast, no minibar, so simple.
Review 104:Distance to beach, marina
Review 105:Nothing! Would def stay again.
Review 106:Location. Perfect for me. Quite far from station and the central part. Clean and modern. Good value
Review 107:3 storey walk up, cupboard doors fell off slides ,lavatory door didn't close , facilities basic , space small
Review 108:Parking is very difficult and it's a steep uphill walk to the town Parking garage and bus stop.
Review 109:Location, location, location. Rooms on thev sea side enjoy an unforgetable view of the harbor and Cap Ferrat.
Review 110:Wifi worked on my computer but not my iPhone. weak signal? The garden is not available to guests and would have been a nice asset.
Review 111:The third floor rooms and sea views are incredible! The staff was wonderfully helpful. They accommodated me when I needed to stay an extra few days. Easy access after hours.
Review 112:There was not many perks in the room. No fridge, iron, kettle etc. That many hotel rooms have
Review 113:Balcony room was fantastic. Excellent view and quick stroll around the waterfront to city centre
Review 114:No lift, this would have been easier when carrying the suitcases up the stairs It would be nice to have a fridge in the room so we could have had a drink on the balcony before going out for dinner. On our last morning we noted a list of drinks that could be purchased but this wasn't made clear on arrival so maybe some information about this and the surrounding area could be left in each room?
Review 115:The location was great, only 10 minutes into town along the coastal path. The staff were polite Our room was brilliant
Review 116:We have returned to this great hotel after a visit in 2006. We love the town, the position of the hotel, overlooking the port and the wonderful sea view.
