Reviews for Best Western Hotel De La Plage Saint Marc sur Mer
Review 1:They advertise room service on website but no room service. The receptionist guy was almost argumentative when I complained about a double booking. Each time you dine in restaurant you have to pay as its a separate business to hotel. Only 1 english language TV Channel 1970/80's decor.
Review 2:Location in a small village.
Review 3:We had expected the room to have been a little more upmarket than it was. Fairly basic though very clean and tidy. The bed was rather uncomfortable.
Review 4:Beautiful setting on the love beach. A very pleasant restaurant with great food and very good service.
Review 5:Bed a little small in the room with terrace although we did switch from a bigger room and bed with no terrace. Restaurant closed unfortunately as it was being upgraded.
Review 6:Location and Tati connection
Review 7:Our room was at the back, away from the beach, this was known at time of booking, nothing else available, the bar across the road was very noisy, no air on (fans are available from reception).
Review 8:Location
Review 9:Noisy early morning deliveries and street cleaning were disruptive but obviously the hotel not at fault here.
Review 10:Wonderful location, friendly helpful staff and a great restaurant made this a great stay.
Review 11:The noise from early morning 5am dustbin colection, motorbikes screaming around about 1am and beach revellers shouting until the early morning
Review 12:The staff were excellent , the best we have come across so far.
Review 13:This iconic venue was a long time place on my bucket list. The setting for the famous movie M.Hulot's Holiday. Unspoilt and just a great location, no wonder Jacques Tati chose it for his movie. It has a wonderful restaurant which is quite large and very popular with the locals. Great place for a family holiday.
Review 14:Room was very small and narrow, we could barely put our suitcases. Though had paid for a standard room which are larger. Late night noise/music from the beach festival. Wrong timing?
Review 15:Staff and hotel as such are friendly, nice and clean hotel. Great location near the beach, in house restaurant with delicuous food.
Review 16:The reception staff were outstanding in helping us deal with a problem related to a car hire and then, unsolicited, printed a series of maps help us with our arrangements.
Review 17:The 'bar' area is awful - dark, uncomfortable and as inviting as a dentist's waiting room without the ancient magazines. The restaurant is a completely separate enterprise. The outside is in need of a facelift - peeling paint, scruffy/dead plants etc.
Review 18:Lovely location and the connection with Jacques Tati. Lovely staff. Nice spacious room with sea view - the bay is particularly nice.
Review 19:attitude concerning our room,I got the impression that if you book through you that they give you the broom cupboard. The attic rooms are very small with a small headroom.
Review 20:location very good able to park at hotel
Review 21:The restaurant is a separate franchise, and therefore the food bill must be paid for separately and can't be added to the hotel bill. The breakfast, although good and varied, is a little expensive at Euros 12.
Review 22:The association with M. Hulot.
Review 23:We should have chosen a superior room. Ours was a bit cramped and didn't have a bath, just a shower. The first floor rooms also had a terrace with sun beds but a slightly less good sea view. The restaurant was run by a separate company and was just OK.
Review 24:The view from the bedroom. The helpful staff.
Review 25:The room was tiny, with just enough room between the desk and the bed to scoot sideways! If we had been there for more than one night I would have been very unhappy in that room.
Review 26:Great view of the ocean and located near to a few restaurants. Good, free parking.
Review 27:Noisy in the street in early hours so poor sleep!. Corridors dark and décor not great.
Review 28:Friendly helpful staff. nice in house restaurant (concession) for good evening meal
Review 29:We wouldn't want to have to attempt to find town/hotel without a GPS!!!!
Review 30:Ocean view, on-site restaurant, convenient to bakery, grocery store. Very friendly, helpful staff. Great parking on-site.
Review 31:This hotel is a central part of the Tati Theme and is in the wonderfully small resort of St-Marc-sur-Mer, which is tucked away between St-Nazaire and La Baule. Whether you wish to pay homage to Monsieur Hulot or just enjoy a small beach resort, St-Marc and the Hotel de la Plage is here for you.
Review 32:I fell in love with this hotel through the film Mr Hulot's Holiday. I was not disappointed with the place in its present incarnation. The locale is absolutely charming, the food is magnificent, and all the staff are helpful.
Review 33:Not deserve to have 3 stars. Not products for body available in thebathroom. Not one time use slippery (walk bare feet in an hotel room isnot advisable). They forget to put Tea and coffe bags, sugar etc. Not alittle water bottle. Noisy all the night (their staff joke and laughloudly when at midnight through out the rubbish under the window roomsand at 3 am very noisy when a big truck charge the laundry under thewindow of my room. Breakfast with very low quality food, fruits looksall gone (not give you any envy to take), not vegetable, not skimmedmilk or soya milk, not while bread flour etc etc.(il sont vraiment a lapage pour accoulir tout sort thé voyageur d'aujourdh'hui.....)Shen having breakfast at 7:30 am, the only one staff available toservice you, was also cleaning the floor in the restaurant room(disgusting having breakfast with on the left a great ocean beach and infront of your someone cleaning the floor making noisy). I had 4 luggage,no one help me (and they perfectly know) and they gave me a room that Ihad to open 4 doors to get the elevatour. Monday morning after notsleeping all the night for the noisy, I went out at 6 am with nobreakfast, facing my 1000 km drive for next stop. Of course all that foronly 280 euro 3 nights and 2 breakfast. Another thing, I asked if theyhave a little gym or something to do a little sport. They told me thatcould show an outdoor running path. Pity it was raining and windy allthe time, we are in Brittany..... A very last thing, not lift the showergel flacon from its metal holder. The dirty of the base metal holderwill you run out immediately. I honestly think that details, service andvalue for money are the secret for the success. I did not find In thathotel. I hope they will improve the service.
Review 34:Nothing
Review 35:The room was too small. Having booked for our stay at the restaurant before arrival and reiterated on first night, there was doubt about them having a table for us each evening, most distressing.
Review 36:Pleasant hotel staff, superb view from room and perfect beach.
Review 37:The parking area around the back of the hotel is very run-down and tatty. Potholes, puddles and a derelict building in the corner.
Review 38:Beautiful location, right on the beach. Specifically booked due to the HULOT connection. Clean, comfortable and pleasant staff.
Review 39:No lift.
Review 40:Great room with sea view. Lovely location.
Review 41:The room was very small only 9" between wardrobe and bed
Review 42:lovely view from the window of the sea and beach
Review 43:Very small room, water turned off for loo, something wrong with flush, but husband mended ok. Bit pricey.
Review 44:Fabulous position, room had lovely terrace
Review 45:Classic room was not classic ! Could hardly walk round the bed - not worth the money at all
Review 46:Lovely location on beach and food was great too
Review 47:The bathroom floor was completely wet after taking a shower.
Review 48:Amazing location, very big room.
Review 49:The location is near perfect
Review 50:Fabulous location, right on the beach. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Very quiet
Review 51:great location; good condition of the room; close by a number of different sites and restaurants
Review 52:Very small room, too small bathroom, no fried eggs at breakfast
Review 53:Close to the beach
Review 54:Lovely surroundings, reception staff very helpful.
Review 55:Limited parking
Review 56:The location
Review 57:The relaxed atmosphere and the slightly quirky decoration
Review 58:The rooms are not the size of modern hotels but this can be expected as the retro fitted en suites have pinched a bit
Review 59:It is right on the beach
Review 60:The views, the terrace for sitting with a drink in the evening.
Review 61:Wonderful meal in restaurant Monsieur Hubert. Great location on beach.
Review 62:Don't bring a cat to swing.
Review 63:Marc sur Mer
Review 64:Food Prices
Review 65:Beach, River, Town in General.
Review 66:Limited guest parking...
Review 67:Not easy to find location
Review 68:View
Review 69:nothing
Review 70:this is a great place to stay if you are a fan of jacques tati. The hotel is very comfortableand the satff were very helpful
Review 71:rooms are very small No real lobby and restaurant overbooked so nowhere to sit and talk
Review 72:excellent location and sea view
Review 73:Lovely location, right on the beach. Great views from sea front rooms. Small gathering of shops and restaurants adds some choice if you do not fancy eating at the hotel. Great breakfast.
Review 74:Room was small, probably the smallest I have had but the view more than made up for this
Review 75:The view from the room was spectacular.Clean, friendly staff, good restaurant.Recommended.
Review 76:hotel had lost some of it's authenticy since 'M Huelot's' day because of extension not keeping in tune with origial building. Bathroom too small Bedroom too warm
Review 77:beautiful sea view friendly and helpful staff seafood served in hotel restaurant
Review 78:Would have liked some outdoor space, the restaurant wasn't a part of the Hotel so no place to sit outside.
Review 79:Great location, friendly staff, lovely beach
Review 80:Rooms can get stuffy. If the window is open it is noisy or wet from rain. If the window is shut it gets stuffy
Review 81:Position. Excellent receptionist who greeted us on the Friday
Review 82:Breakfasts not included in price AND were too expensive. Hotel restaurant was also too expensive. Hotel internet connection was slow and prone to disconnection.
Review 83:It was great to visit the original hotel where the film Monsieur Hulot's Holiday was filmed!
Review 84:We were disappointed that our seaview room was so small - no space to move around. The town itself did not have much to offer but we still had a restful time in St Nazaire.
Review 85:When we found the room was so small Pierre did all he could and offered us the choice of two other rooms which was great, even without the sea view so we moved into one of these. Separate restaurant was very good.
Review 86:Our room was on the top floor, which was no problem but because of the sloping ceiling it was quite tricky for my husband to access his side of the bed.
Review 87:The location was superb. Our room was lovely, with a great sea view. We used the beach bar & restaurant & were v happy with both. Staff were at all times very helpful & friendly.
Review 88:The bed was one of the most uncomfortable we have ever slept in. This was due to the cheap mattress-cover on the bed. The hotel needs to re-think how they make up beds for traveller comfort.
Review 89:The Seaside location
Review 90:The restaurant services were nothing special.
Review 91:We went there because of its association with M. Hulot's holiday film. Unfortunately there was very little information provided for this concerning the location of famous scenes in the film.
Review 92:We had a very hard time locating this hotel but upon a late arrival the receptionist immediately upgraded us to a room overlooking the sea which was fabulous. The location should be St Marc sur Mer and not Saint Nazaire as it is very confusing for the Garmin map.
Review 93:Rooms very small and if windy the wind blows into the room from the sea.
Review 94:Very good restaurant and sea view very interesting. History very attractive. Very quiet. Good car park.
Review 95:The room was so small you could only move sideways but I forgive that inthis iconic location. But the restaurant was truly dreadful. The foodwas reheated mush and inedible. This was the worst dinner I've hadanywhere in Europe. I would stay at the hotel again but would never eathere even with a gun at my head.
Review 96:The view overlooking the beach. The enormous terrace. Staff werecharming.
Review 97:parking a bit busy at times
Review 98:Location and setting is superb, very helpful and friendly staff, room 305 with fantsatic view over the bay and beach, tasteful interior
Review 99:The shower was just a trickle. I guess it was because we were on thetop floor!
Review 100:Right on the beach. Reception staff spoke excellent English. Free onsiteparking. Decor was nice and modern inside but the outside of the hotelstill had the old charm. Room was very comfortable. Views fromdining/breakfast room were fantastic. Lots of walks nearby.
Review 101:The accomodation was clean, the room having a bath an excellent sea view and TV etc, but small to the point of becoming claustrophobic.
Review 102:I chose this hotel due to it's having featured in the Jack Tati film Monsieur Hulot's Holiday, and found the location pleasant, the staff excellent and helpful and the restaurant good if expensive.
Review 103:Very friendly and welcoming. Good food in the restaurant. Good valuefor money. We would definitely want to stay there again if we were inthat area.
Review 104:The isolation
Review 105:The location was superb. We were also impressed by the quality of food and service provided in the dining room. The staff were very pleasant too.
Review 106:Extremely small room with hardly enough room to walk around the bed.
Review 107:Excellent sea view. Good restaurant.
Review 108:The location: especially in relation to it being famous for the 1953 Jacques Tati film 'Les Vacances de M. Hulot'.
Review 109:Very comfortable, very clean. Would certainly book this hotel in the future.
Review 110:The ocean was cold ;)
Review 111:The location is excellent & the atmosphere is very special.
Review 112:Good location freindly helpfull staff
Review 113:Breakfast not included, 12 euros per head seems a bit steep!
Review 114:Our room, our terrace (free upgrade!) the beach,

Review 116:Reception Staff very helpful
Review 117:Room was a bit noisy
