Reviews for Hotel Le Bellevue
Review 1:The whole hotel felt uncared for, full ashtray outside the front door, everywhere felt rather dirty and neglected.
Review 2:The dinner was good, traditional French menu
Review 3:Very dated. 1970s! Stair carpet soiled. Bathroom window didn't open and needed a curtain for modesty! Reception said it never opened until 8am when I needed to pay earlier, but after I grumbled it was easily (and politely) sorted.
Review 4:Wissant was a pleasant stopover for catchinh Le Shuttle. Rooms were clean. Wifi fairly good.
Review 5:Could not make the Internet works but that's might have been my fault Breakfast is basic but nice fresh croissant and pain au chocolat Smallish room for a family and tiny bathroom
Review 6:The welcoming was very nice and the staff very accommodating even as we arrived later than expected
Review 7:poor facilities in room - only one table lamp at foot of bed in my room - no ceiling/bedside lights, TV, kettle - we had to miss breakfast because it was not served before we left (8am Sat). Noisy gravel carpark with people coming and going all night
Review 8:Nice village with lovely market
Review 9:The service in the restaurant at dinner. Having decided to eat in based on the published menus, it was very annoying at spending some time looking at the menu that our choices were not available. This informat ion should have been given at the outset.
Review 10:The setting was lovely and the reception staff were very welcoming
Review 11:I would have liked to have stayed longer!
Review 12:A friendly hotel in the lovely coastal village of Wissant. Everything was straightforward from checking in to checking out. The evening meal, included as a we stayed half-board, was superb, as was the breakfast. I will certainly be back!
Review 13:Well situated near the centre of Wissant with friendly staff. The set dinner was good. The hotel itself, while charmingly old-fashioned, is in need of updating. It also has lovely grounds which it could make better use of - and it needs to get rid of the stained plastic outdoor chairs!
Review 14:Lack of staff they only seemed to have 1 person available at a time so they were dealing with reception and lunch when arrived. At dinner they were doing both the bar and the restaurant so we had to wait to be served in the bar. No one seemed to speak english despite the sign saying they did. Decor was tired and the bedroom was functional.
Review 15:To our surprise they had a Vegetarian set menu. It included fish but had non fish meals included. It was very good. Plenty of parking.
Review 16:The internal decor was of YHA standard in parts, but the spaciousness and price compensated for the relatively unimportant factor.
Review 17:The location and appointment of this spacious, stylish residence was very memorable. It's set on a hill above the gorgeous character filled village of Wissant, so therefore close to the beach and centre with the various little restaurants, market, canal etc. The views over the sea were splendid and the star filled night sky could be admired from up here. The bar area had a true northern Europe flair in style and was promising some atmosphere, but was under attended on the night we were there.
Review 18:bathroom why is loo separate with no hand-basin (urgh). mirror was not next to a socket for ladies hairdrying. built in side table were for a king size bed not the normal size therefore too far away and useless. no cups/glasses in room for water.
Review 19:location general standard of hotel
Review 20:The receptionist was surly, told us at 7.58 a.m that he wasn't open until 8 (to pay the bill). The mattress was lumpy (as in worn out springs) and the room was so small that one of us had to step into a recess to allow the other one to pass by. the only seating in the room was one stool.
Review 21:The food was the best part of the stay, but not overly memorable. The restaurant staff were much more congenial than the receptionist.
Review 22:The hotel is in a quiet location, a short walk from the village centre and the beach, both of which are very attractive - yet only 15 minutes drive from the Channel Tunnel. We appreciated the ample private parking, well off the road (important with a car full off luggage after our holiday in France). Our dog appreciated the welcome from staff, and the large grassy hotel grounds. We had a very good evening meal and breakfast, and thought that, though the room was small, this hotel represented good value for money, without unnecessary luxury.
Review 23:too 'quaint', no drink making facilities in room, big keys needed! Too hot at night, but windows not designed to be fixed open. WiFi just wouldn't work properly - I tried to sort this out and was told to use a different choice, but this didn't work either. Was a bit expensive for what's on offer and if just overnighting, a motel is a better option.
Review 24:location good, but didn't eat in the restaurant
Review 25:Decor lacked unity of style. The hotel felt rather tired and smelt unpleasant but it was clear money had been spent on windows. Garden/ pool could do with being tidied up. Disappointing dessert choice.
Review 26:The fact our room had 3 windows made it very airy. Restaurant meal was fine as was breakfast. Restaurant staff were hardworking and fairly quick despite a large party to be served. Easy parking. OK for a one night stop but wouldn't want to stay longer.
Review 27:Room was small and uncomfortable, bathroom was very small. No air con and keeping windows open meant you were subject to an invasion of mosquitos from the nearby pond. Walls thin and not soundproof - doors banging and voices clearly heard. Hotel needs refurbishment.
Review 28:Breakfast
Review 29:Room was small although suitable for short stay. Had to be careful about step up to bathroom.
Review 30:The extreme helpfulness of all the staff. Opportunity to eat on the premises and the food was good and sufficient. Wissant center and beach nearby.
Review 31:The bedroom(25) was very worn and tired with poor bathroom faciliites & clearly has had NO attention for a very long time. What was worse was that the hotel has a major mosquito problem (no doubt caused by the stagnant pond next door.) We were swatting them all night so got virtually no sleep. The remnants of blood spattered dead mosquito's on the wall suggests other guests had had the same issue. It's an awful place - DO NOT STAY HERE - you have been warned.
Review 32:Checking out
Review 33:We were opposite two teenage kids who wouldn't shut up or stop banging on the walls (no idea where the parents were!) Toilet was in double room so kids had to keep coming through in the night. Room was a lot smaller in reality but ok. Double bed was hard. As always, was hot and stuffy in the rooms. No lift
Review 34:Extra charge for eggs at breakfast. Wi-fi not reliable in my room on 2nd floor - had to go out of the room to the stairs. Bar closes early
Review 35:Good location, functional room.
Review 36:Shortage of staff when we stayed. The waitresses worked really hard and were lovely, but they couldn't cope with a large party of 20 in the restaurant plus the other diners. Not sure if this was the usual situation. No lift.
Review 37:Excellent food in the restaurant. Very good value for money Very family friendly.
Review 38:The decor was pretty bad-everything in the bathroom was pepto bismol pink The whole second floor smelled unpleasant (cabbage?), may have been from the kitchen
Review 39:The history of the hotel, the location, the price. The staff was friendly
Review 40:FOOD & DRINKS VERY EXPENSIVE. 4.30 eUROS FOR A VERY SMALL BOTTLE OF BEER. THE DECOR IS VERY DATED & THE BATHROOM WAS EXTREMELY SMALL.
Review 41:HOTEL ALLOWS DOGS. NICE AREA AT BACK OF THE HOTEL TO EXERCISE THE DOG.
Review 42:Rooms a little tired but clean and tidy.
Review 43:Food is absolutely fantastic. 15 minutes from the Channel Tunnel. Beautiful little village on coast.
Review 44:Perfect location to spend a night before travelling across the channel. Very close to the beach. A few seafood restaurants down the road.
Review 45:Many stairs to the 2nd floor. Bath/shower difficult to use
Review 46:Great staff, food and location. Easy parking
Review 47:Nothing
Review 48:a great little hotel - just like French hotels used to be - cheerful and atmospheric
Review 49:No lights in room Smelt of insecticide Very dated Grubby Tiny Generally awful Man on reception not at all friendly
Review 50:Very little
Review 51:In desperate need of refurbishment.
Review 52:Stylish old building. Very close to the sea.
Review 53:Very small bedroom, Lack of pillows,
Review 54:Good Location, Good dining room' Good food, limited selection,
Review 55:Room was small and basic.
Review 56:Diner in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good
Review 57:wifi was terrible
Review 58:Friendly staff
Review 59:No tea/coffee facilities in room. Bed creaky.
Review 60:Staff very helpful and always around. Spacious bathroom. Parking good. Easy walk to beach and town.
Review 61:bar closes quiet early, 22 pm
Review 62:clean Quiet location friendly staff
Review 63:No lift Tired-needs an update
Review 64:Roomed dated and "tired". No lift.
Review 65:Friendly staff, food good.
Review 66:Breakfast was good, staff and a very clean room
Review 67:Outside areas.
Review 68:Bed was soft. Struggled with a dog upto the 2nd floor. Very dated hotel for the price.
Review 69:Wifi was excellent signal. Good choice in breakfast.
Review 70:Efficient and friendly staff. Excellent evening meal and great value for money. Excellent breakfast and brilliant room. The only downside is that there is no lift.
Review 71:room and bathroom far too small - almost uncomfortably so. breakfast ok, but not very imaginative and not included in the room price. not a lot, but irritating all the same. also not too happy with you. you said there was only one room left. in fact the place was nearly empty.
Review 72:location, plenty of parking, staff pretty friendly, plenty of hot water, peaceful surroundings
Review 73:Tired and worn looking building, garden and decor in terrible colour scheme (everything pink) Seemed less french than expected Value for money was poor
Review 74:proximity to ferry port. but far enough not to be swallowed by the big names. Expected to be a typical french seaside town Close to town centre
Review 75:Room was quite dark, curtain was hanging off pole, air conditioning not very effective. Tea and coffee provided but only enough for 2 people and the room was for 4. We also discovered our kettle didn't work but was too late to notify reception as we were leaving early.
Review 76:Swimming pool was clean, well maintained, towels provided from reception with lockers and a changing area. Family room away from main building. Grounds well maintained. Hotel contacted us prior to visit and gave us directions.
Review 77:We asked for a cot, which was supplied but we didn't know that they were going to charge us an extra 10 euro for it.
Review 78:very handy location near to the beach and only 20 mins from the eurotunnel. We had 2 interconnecting rooms which worked really well with the children.
Review 79:Staff were unhelpful and unfriendly. Claim to have a bath in each room but a meter long tub hardly constitutes a bath. TV had only one channel. All round very poor standard.
Review 80:Family room at 2nd floor without lift. Small room, bed very hard. Old hotel need renovation
Review 81:Situation. Friendly personel. Breakfast ok. Nice evening menu.
Review 82:Our room had no drawer/shelf space for our clothes (we were there for a week so this was a challenge).Maybe other rooms were better equipped.
Review 83:This is a typical provincial French hotel, run by the owners with minimal help. The food is very good ,imaginative, basic French cooking with local fish everyday on the "menu du jour", which we would recommend. The staff are extremely efficient and helpful but sometimes seemed overstretched. There is a big shaded garden and ample free car parking.
Review 84:Hotel was generally a little tired in terms of needing refurb but to some extend we enjoyed the rustic feel of the place which in no way took away from a positive experience.
Review 85:Close to beach and small town. Bright interior and good, honest food served by friendly staff.
Review 86:When we arrived the receptionist saw I used crutches and immediately changed our room to one with easier access, she was extremely helpful with all our needs. First Class!!
Review 87:Poor attitude of proprietor and staff, rude and abusive. Very unhelpful and absent at key periods of the day. Facilities do not match the advertisement. WiFi is non existent. Rooms small and in poor repair. washing facilities would be good if the water was warm and the bath big enough to stand in. The place is unworthy of the name "Hotel"
Review 88:Location was pleasant and convenient for village center. Like travelling back to Fawlty Towers (TV Series)
Review 89:nice place to stay in an special atmosphere because it's an old building. The staff was very friendly and helpful to accommodate me to a very early breakfast.
Review 90:old - primitive location out of the modern time - neglected: to small bedroom without any possibility to sit down ( no chair ) or to move normally. a hip bath for persons of a small size even the toilet. dinner was horrible: pollack on smashed potatoes with a sweet creamy raspberry sauce it could be the same as ice-cream with lobster-sauce: it was abominable
Review 91:The Picon and the breakfast
Review 92:Noisy guests shouting, singing and running around until 2am. Hotel grounds untidy with broken garden furniture lying around.
Review 93:Short walk to Wissant town centre.
Review 94:It was very cold but that is because we went in February. Prefer to visit in the warmer weather Everyone seemed to go to bed early so bar closed early
Review 95:The hotel - very comfortable and people friendly The beach and countryside very beautiful, especially when it snowed Large carpark with loads of space

Review 101:Small Room, A bit run down
Review 102:Clean, Friendly, Easy Going
Review 103:A friendly welcome and very dog friendly
Review 104:Extremely small rooms and beds, paper-thin walls, they force you to take half-board so they can ask for more money.
Review 105:Uncomfortable bed with waterproof sheet and no duvet.
Review 106:Location Cost
Review 107:bar not open, no staff after 9pm, no facilities after 9 pm, very disappointed, would not return to this hotel.
