Reviews for The Angel Inn Hotel Surbiton
Review 1:Very small double room. Could be cleaner. when shower used extractor fan unable to function at maximum efficiency due to build up of dust on its facia.Room not refreshed daily.Room was cold with central heating radiator not working and only a mobile rad provided.
Review 2:Good central quiet location for Surbiton area. Pleasant staff.
Review 3:very very very hard to find . no facilities close . way too small for the price we paid
Review 4:we were very tired . the beds were comfortable and the place was quiet
Review 5:1. Front-door access. Had to telephone to gain access when cold and raining outside! 2. Creaking floorboards which were noisy when people walked past my room.
Review 6:Clean, quiet room (everything new) with comfortable bed, wifi, kettle with tea/coffee and new shower/toilet.
Review 7:Room was cold. Pillowcase has mouldy stain on it. Saw nobody at all during our 2 night stay. Tea in room was vile.
Review 8:Flexible to let a relative pick up our key as we were arriving after check in time.
Review 9:The booking required a credit card to confirm the booking, but then discouraged you from using a card by charging a 3.40% on the £75 for the room which added another £2.55 to the bill. The rooms were recently refurbished, but the upkeep of the rooms leave a lot to the imagination i.e the furniture which is veneered chipboard was damaged around the bottom corner of the bed, I noticed this as I walked by and caught my leg on the sharp edges. The mattress should have a over-cover or mattress protector which should be washed regularly, there wasn't one so the mattress had issues. And the chipboard furniture, well what can I say, it's not furniture as we all know it. There were three glasses in varying degrees of stickiness, to which I washed the best to drink from. The shower ensuite had only two sachets of body and shower liquid, which for a family room with beds for 3 people I would say was not enough, and there was no soap for the hand basin, so I went out and bought some. Would I stay here again, NO Would I recommend any of my friends to stay at the Angel Inn. NO And its not what I would call a 'Hotel'.
Review 10:It was only for one night. I was given the option to pay the original £75 in cash. The sheets and towels were clean. The shower was good, although the shower curtain is not long enough and water was sprayed onto the floor.
Review 11:Bed wasnt a proper bed so very uncomfortable; Bed linen was unclean -found a milk top in bed, and a very long black hair!! No proper parkingand when I tried to determine if parking at the side of hotel was ok asanother car in front of me, I was informed it was ok, however I wasthen woken at 7am and asked to move the car!!! Would only accept Cash,if you paid by card they charged you another 3.5%; and they useinappropriate equipment to try and charge the card, including asking meto put my paypal details on their laptop!!! I am very very unhappy andwould like a refund.
Review 12:I have sent your customer service dept an email expressing how I feelabout the hotel and the complaints I am making. There was nothing I likeabout the hotel.
Review 13:The management was absent and not accommodating to my request which was made prior to arrival. I requested internet access and connection was bad and unreliable. Management did not take much interest to resolve the matter during my stay.
Review 14:Modern and clean rooms, facilities and service from receptionist was great and thought it was value for money.
Review 15:Location - no shops or restaurants anywhere near; Size of the room...more like a cupboard, though the description did say 'small'
Review 16:Price and staff
Review 17:This is not an 'Inn' with no bar area. Quite noisy and not sure if noise was from other guests or the owners downstairs.
Review 18:Efficient check-in, room was clean and comfortable, warm welcome and happy to respond to any questions. Good wifi service.
Review 19:Most of it! The room was beyond basic, teabags were in a sandwich tuperware box and there wasn't even a picture hanging on the wall. I was silly to think there may have been a hairdryer for £75! Noise was an understatement and unfortunately one very unhappy child did not help the situation.
Review 20:The stairs had cool little lights so you could see where you were going!
Review 21:The towels were not clean, window blind was broken. Kettle was not clean inside.
Review 22:Nice room. very close to station so we could get into the centre of London. Quiet. nice shower. Staff were polite and helpful.
Review 23:Had to get the owner out of bed to check out. She was less than helpful and in spite of my clearly explaining arrangements for the transport of my bags as well as written instructions the arrangement was botched.
Review 24:Room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 25:The bed was uncomfortable. It wasn't up to my standard of cleanliness; although couldn't depict as dirty. Very small for a family room aswell. Wasn't worth the price charged, and checkout at 10.am is far too early, especially on a Sunday and wasn't mentioned at booking (unless I missed it)
Review 26:The staff were friendly and welcoming. The communal area was inviting and check-in was quick; after a long journey this was a plus.
Review 27:Although the proprieter was quite pleasant every thing else was way below par for a £70 (no breakfast ) overnight stay. Will not be returning!
Review 28:We had a roof over our head
Review 29:The beds are very uncomfortable and the room was very dusty. Also, we had only 1 mug for coffee, there was two of us in the room. Also only one towel
Review 30:The location and close proximity to Chessington was great!
Review 31:Parking proved difficult, when we arrived. Narrow stairs with large cases - beware! Little contact with hosts. Family room would have been tight for more than two.
Review 32:Location was convenient for us. Security was excellent, and room was fine.
Review 33:It's basically a house with locked rooms, area not nice, back garden was a building site, parking = zero, tiny room for price and sooooo noisy at night from other guests I got no sleep !!!
Review 34:Wifi actually worked !
Review 35:The bed creaked Everytime you just turned over or moved. Was a very small room. Kettle didn't reach plug so had to put on floor, no maid service so no tea/coffee/loo roll refill each day.no food available, building work going on, dog Barking
Review 36:Was 5 minutes from where we were travelling each day
Review 37:Owner's/caretaker's Alsatian dog barked from 3a.m. onwards. Had to shut the window even though it was during the heatwave. Extremely annoying to say the least. Owner very nice, but she's used to the pesky dog barking all night. We're not.
Review 38:Location good for Hampton Court or Wimbledon. Very basic accommodation (expected for price) but clean. Quiet leafy location. Wetherspoons not far away for breakfast. Cash or Paypal only for payment so be prepared.
Review 39:The room was very very small. There was no way to switch off the main light from the bed and there was no bedside lamp. There were no hangers in the closet. There were no counter height power sockets so we had to boil the kettle on the floor. NOISE!!!! ... people in and out from a back door until the early hours, shouting. A dog barked almost all night from the property garden/yard.
Review 40:The Hotel has obviously undergone a recent transformation from an old pub. Therefore it is still new in feel and presentation. Although the furnishings were cheap and basic everything was clean, including the linen and towels. The bed was comfortable and the management were exceptionally kind in finding me additional pillows, which allowed me to sleep in an upright position for my very bad back. The shower was big and powerful with plenty of hot water.
Review 41:Would like to have incorporated a breakfast with our stay.
Review 42:The cleanliness of the hotel and the friendly helpful staff/owners made our stay enjoyable.
Review 43:i booked a room here so i could attend a concert in the near by hampton court palace. The hotel was clean and in a good location. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The nearest train station was a 10 minute walk and the commute to Hampton Court took about 15 minutes all together. I would reccomend this hotel for anyone visiting Hampton Court Palace.
Review 44:Hotel is still being refurbished from being a public house is not fully finished. The tiny bathroom lacks space for towels and the shower has a slippery floor which could cause a dangerous fall. It needs a rubber mat. The bedroom lacks storage space for clothed though there is a small hanging wardrobe. There is no light switch near the bed making it difficult to climb in or out of bed.
Review 45:One helpful Nepalese staff
Review 46:The staff are very helpful and the place is very clean. It is true that there is a lot of noise coming from the other rooms but this is NOT the hotel's fault.
Review 47:Parking maybe a problem and there is no breakfast facility (if that is a priority.)
Review 48:I just need somewhere to stay one night within a short drive from Wimbledon where I had an early start the following day. The hotel was newly refurbished, clean and had a very friendly owner/manager, who let me park in their driveway. Good value. Would stay again if I needed to under similar circumstances.
Review 49:Bed uncomfortable. No bedside table or bedside lamp. No towel rails. No chair in room. Wifi so slow I gave up.
Review 50:Cleanliness of room. Friendly staff. Would stay again if I needed a hotel in that part of town.
Review 51:Nothing
Review 52:The room was quite basic but the guy who either owned or managed the hotel could not have tried harder to make sure we had everything we needed and I doubt I could ever stay in a cleaner room.
Review 53:That you not can pay with Card when you have give them all Card information over the net. That you have to run around 10-11 pm to find a cashmacine
Review 54:In the information from booking.com it said that it was possible to pay with visa. This was not true. I showed the document to the staff, but he did not care (in fact, it seemed like he had seen several times before...). Would not stay there again.
Review 55:Very noisy with people arriving until 2 in the morning, presumably after a night clubbing. Lots of chat outside rooms, etc. My fault for choosing a Saturday night I guess.
Review 56:Comfortable bed, clean room, decent bathroom
Review 57:Bathroom door did not fully close No shelf in bathroom so toiletries had to be kept in the room Roommade walked in without knocking Could not pay by card Socket by the floor so using a hairdrier you need to be sitting down and then you cannot reach the mirror Staff tried to be pleasant but the room made kept asking each time she saw us when we were going to pay. Finding an ATM that worked was a challenge
Review 58:-staff; -insulation is very bad, could hear everything happening in the building; -according to what local people say, it used to be a pub, then converted to hotel; -mess in the garden, not very clean; -expensive, there are guest houses in that area which where offering rooms for £35-40 and much better quality; -totally misleading score on this website (7.9), which made me to chose this hotel
Review 59:-location -room was OK
Review 60:Bed was a little hard, shame there wasn't any breakfast.
Review 61:Was clean, fresh and good value. Very pleasant stay, staff very friendly and helpful. Happy to stay again.
Review 62:Size of room was challenging for large suitcases. Power points could have been better located, but owner quickly remedied with extension cord and was happy for feedback.
Review 63:Hosts were wonderful, friendly and very helpful with good ideas for future offers at hotel. Convenience stores just around the corner. Bus and train only a few minutes away.
Review 64:No soap no hangers no toilet paper holder. Was next to a building site car for covered in sand and this led to windscreen being scratched.

Review 93:Friendly staff, very clean, good value for money, free car park
Review 94:Walls are too thin. Not their fault another guest snored all night, but he didn't have to be only a thin layer of plasterboard away.
